Can I create Aliases in OID ?

Hi,
Does OID allows alises for a user in separate OU?
Thanks
Eric

You can create them, but OID will not dereference them at this time. Look for this capability in one of our next major functionality releases.

  • I can't create aliases

I can't create aliases in iCloud. I logon in safari, go to the account tab, it says I have 3 of 3 aliases available. I type in something, it says it can't create an alias at this time. Tried everything and different alias names. no luck.

ok, about @mac and @me, they are basically the same.  You can login on any Apple services with one or the other.  You have nothing to correct there, all MobileMe users are in the same situation.  You can use either emails.
Apple is confusing people a lot with this; the remark is not that they need to match, it is better if they match for people having things like [email protected] vs [email protected]
If you see no aliases in the preferences of mail on icloud.com then, I agree something went wrong with your account and unfortunatly, you need to contact Apple in order to resolve this as nothing can be done at your end.
As for your Safari issue, I guess you should post in the related forum section.

  • How can I create a new iCloud account for a familiy member having a new iDevice and reuse one of my aliases for it

    Hi there,
I moved into iCloud from the very beginning and started with one iCloud account for me and my family, making use of email aliases for family members. Now the number of personal iDevices grows and I want to create a new and separate iCloud Account for my son. The pity is, that I reserved his full name already as alias address on my initial iCloud account. If I now delete this alias, can I create a new account with the former alias as new primary email address?
Or is there at least any transfer procedure supported for aliases between different accounts?
    Thanks for your help, lauterbachj

Couldn't agree more... the folks who are getting penalized for this are the early adopters of .Mac/iCloud dating from the days when the only way to implement a "family" account was to use aliases. Now all my kids' / my wife's name aliases sit in my account, unable to move. I guess the good news is that if I delete them nobody else will get them, but this seems a pretty poor consolation.
Would it really be so difficult to implement a "move this alias to another iCloud account" option that requires the "sender" and "receiver" to exchange some sort of code to implement the transation in order to prevent fraud?

  • Can I create an email address for a family member using my apple ID?

I converted to iCloud from Mobile Me in October before I created email addresses for my kids.  Can I create accounts for them in iCloud?

Just go to http://appleid.apple.com and create a new Apple ID for each kid - note that you will need a different associated email address for each ID, and different from your own, but you can use free addresses such as Yahoo.
Then start a new iCloud account for each using the IDs. You will need to have a separate user account on your Mac for each kid (you should be doing this anyway, and they should be non-admin accounts) and then you can enter the ID in System Preferences>iCloud and create a new @me.com address in each case.
Alternatively you could create up to three email aliases on your own account - these are addresses, not accounts, and deliver into your main inbox alonside your mail, so everyone will be able to see everyone else's mail, which may well not be what you want.

  • How many iCloud accounts can you create on Mac?

I use different emails for different purposes (subscriptions,  shopping, forums, iTunes, etc.). With that in mind, I created 3 iCloud email accounts on my iPad and upon trying to register a 4th one I was told that this device is no longer eligible to create an iCloud account. Anyways, does the same rule apply to Macs (3 IDs per device)?

Why not create aliases to your primary iCloud mail account for those other email needs.  That way you can access all emails from each of your devices with the same email client, Mail. On your Mac Just create a Rule to put emails to each alias in its own specific folder.

  • I have an iCloud email address on my iMac. How can I create an icloud email address for my wife on the same computer?

I have an iCloud email address on my iMac. How can I create an icloud email address for my wife on the same computer?

If all you want is an additional email address you can create up to three 'email aliases'  - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account.
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account, move it to another account, or reactivate it if you delete it.
    More information on aliases here:
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a490a
If you want to keep her email separate from yours she will need to create a new Apple ID, and use it to create a new iCloud account either on a separate computer or on a separate User Account on your Mac.

  • Is there a way to create aliases for formulas without using other cells?

I have long formulas in certain cells, that consist of a bunch of smaller formulas that I re-use in multiple cells. Is there a way to create an alias for a formula (or create my own function) that I can then piece together into one big formula? I think I can use another cell to drop the formula in, but that just clutters up the spreadsheet.

    David,
it looks like you can't define own formulas or create aliases for formulas.

  • Creating users in oid from forms

    Hello,
how can i create or update an user and its corresponding rad in oid directly from forms 10.1.2. ?
    thanks
    Jean-Yves

    Hi François,
in the past I used Forms9i OID integration demo
like i asked in this post
and i wonder if it still can be used inn 10.1.2.
But I wil take a deeper look to your blog (always useful ;-) ) and I think I will use it instead of the 9i version with java importer.
We have to migrate à 6i version to 10g and sso and so we have to move "n" oracle users into oid. it will be useful to use this package.
ps : I was not a lot active in this forum since i changed my job and also my login and lost my previous post count, but congratulations for your 5000 and more post and your a Ace !
    Thanks

  • Can I create my own attributes in iDS?

I know to store my photo I can use the jpegPhoto attribute, but what about if I want to store other binary objects like maybe my fingerprints, can I create my own attributes for it, and how?
    Or I can't do that?

You can use Directory Server Console to create new attributes. After adding new attributes to your schema, you must create a new object class to contain them.
    Creating object class:
1.Click Create on the Object Classes tab.
2.Enter a unique name for the object class in the Name text box.
3.Enter an object identifier for the new object class in the OID (Optional) text box.
4.Select a parent object for the object class from the Parent drop-down menu.
5.To add an attribute that must be present in entries that use the new object class, highlight the attribute in the Available Attributes list and then click the Add
button to the left of the Required Attributes box.
6.To add an attribute that may be present in entries that use the new object class, highlight the attribute in the Available Attributes list and then click the Add
button to the left of the Allowed Attributes box.
7.To remove an attribute that you previously added, highlight the attribute in the Required Attributes list or the Allowed Attributes list and then click the
corresponding Remove button. You cannot remove either allowed or required attributes that are inherited
    from the parent object classes.
    8.Click to OK.
    To create a new attribute:
    1. Display the Attributes tab.
    2. Click Create.
The Create Attribute dialog box is displayed.
    3. Enter a unique name for the attribute in the Attribute Name text box.
    4. Enter an object identifier for the attribute in the Attribute OID (Optional) text box.
    5. Select a syntax that describes the data to be held by the attribute from the Syntax drop-down menu.
    6. If you want the attribute to be multi-valued,select the Multi-Valued checkbox. The Directory Server allows more than one instance of a multi-valued attribute
    per entry.
    7.Click OK
    This is repersenting binary data.
You can represent binary data, such as a JPEG image, in LDIF using one of the following methods:
The standard LDIF notation, the lesser than (<) symbol. For example:
    jpegphoto: < file:/path/to/photo
If you use this standard notation, you do not need to specify the ldapmodify -b parameter. However, you must add the following line to the beginning of your LDIF file, or your LDIF update statements:
    version:1
For example, you could use the following ldapmodify command:
    prompt% ldapmodify -D userDN -w user_passwd
    version: 1
    dn: cn=Barney Fife,ou=People,dc=siroe,dc=comchangetype: modify
    add: userCertificate
    userCertificate;binary:< file: BarneysCert
Using base 64 encoding. You identify base 64 encoded data by using the ::
    symbol. For example:
    jpegPhoto:: encoded_data
In addition to binary data, other values that must be base 64-encoded include:
Any value that begins with a semicolon (;) or a space
Any value that contains non-ASCII data, including new lines Use the ldif command-line utility with the -b parameter to convert binary data to LDIF format:
    ldif -b attribute_name
where attribute_name is the name of the attribute to which you are supplying the binary data. The binary data is read from standard input and the results are written to standard output. Thus, you should use redirection operators to select input and output files.
The ldif command-line utility will take any input and format it with the correct line continuation and appropriate attribute information. The ldif utility also assesses whether the input requires base 64 encoding. For example:
    ldif -b jpegPhoto < mark.jpg > out.ldif
This example takes a binary file containing a JPEG-formatted image and converts it into LDIF format for the attribute named jpegPhoto. The output is saved to
    out.ldif.
The -b option specifies that the ldif utility should interpret the entire input as a single binary value. If -b is not present, each line is considered to be a separate input value.

  • Can't Make Aliases - Permissions Issue?

I recently replaced two internal drives with 750 GB SATA drives. Did a clean install of OS X 10.5 from DVD to one of the drives, updated to OS X 10.5.8, and (manually, not auto-update) installed all of the Apple-indicated updates available. Because of previous issues which appeared to be related to permissions/privileges issues, I checked the permissions settings (via Get Info) of each of the Apple-installed applications in the Applications and Utilities folders. All but one of these indicated settings to be:
    system Read & Write
    admin Read & Write
    everyone Read only
The exception was for System Prefs.app, where the settings were:
    system Read & Write
    everyone Read only
wheel Read & Write (wheel? What's that?)
I was able to create aliases for any and all of these applications.
I then installed the latest HP driver package for my HP 3970 scanner (Photosmart Studio1.0), and checked the permissions status for each of the nine applications produced. Seven of the applications indicated settings to be:
    system Read & Write
    admin Read & Write
    everyone Read only
    The exceptions here were:
    HP Scan Pro:
    rnewby (Me) Read & Write
    everyone Read & Write
    (unknown) Read & Write
    HP Uninstaller:
    rnewby (Me) Read & Write
    everyone Read & Write
    wheel Read & Write
I was able to create aliases for any and all of these applications.
I then installed (in the Utilities folder) CleanApp 3.2.0, with permissions at:
    rnewby (Me) Read & Write
    admin Read only
    everyone Read only
and was able to create an alias of it.
I then installed BIAS Peak LE and an update (to v5.21), with permissions at:
    system Read & Write
    (unknown) Read & Write
    everyone Read & Write
At this point, an attempt at producing an alias of Peak LE failed and produced the message:
"The operation could not be completed because you do not have enough access privileges"
I also noted that with Peak LE selected in the volume window, that the File/Make Alias menu item was greyed-out (inaccessible).
When I went back to attempt making aliases of some of the Apple applications, I found that some of them would now not produce an alias, sometimes producing the same error message and sometimes just doing nothing at all. Which ones are involved seems to be purely arbitrary. Repairing Permissions in Disk Utility had no effect. I've re-run the whole installation process from scratch and wind up the same.
I've looked through the Discussions relating to Permissions problems and such but can find nothing of this nature. All I have here is a bare bones setup of OS X applications, plus three second-party applications, and all of a sudden a problem with a basic function: aliasing. With the possible exceptions of a few Name items ("wheel" and "(unknown)") I don't see any permission entries in Get Info that should prevent me from producing aliases. Can anyone see anything that should be denying me the permissions to proceed?

    Jeffrey,
Thanks for your input. While your response is correct, my real concern has to do with why I was able to make aliases of applications in the Applications folder initially, and then a short time later could no longer do so... as if something had caused a change in the Make Alias (menu) command. I am wondering why something like that would happen, and whether it might involve something that may cause additional problems further downstream.

  • If I delete my free iCloud email address, can I create a new one for free?

Or did I blow my only free chance?

Yes, they're all free but you can only create 3 on each device, including iOS devices as well as Macs.  You can use the same account on multiple devices, but you can only create a maximum of 3 accounts on each device.
This has nothing to do with email aliases.  An alias is simply an email address that disguises your actual email address.  This is useful to have it your want to use it for signing up for accounts on websites, etc., where you don't want to give out your real email address.  Email sent to an alias arrives in the same inbox as email sent to your real email address.  You can have up to three email aliases for your account, but again, this has nothing to do with the maximum of creating 3 iCloud accounts per device.  This is discussed in more detail here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.

  • EBS is creating users in OID, when it shouldn't. Wrong profiles?

I'm integrating EBS 12.1.6 with OAM 11g and OID11g. I've got Single Sign On working fine, but I noticed that when a user is created in EBS, it automatically gets created in OID too.
My users will be manually created in both OID and EBS through other processes so I really just need them to be linked. I registered the instance and oid with provisionType=4 (bidirectional sync no create).
I have these profile options set:

    Applications SSO Login Types: Both
    Application SSO LDAP Synchronization: Enabled
Applications SSO Enable OID Identity Add Event: Disabled
Link Applications user with OID user with same username: has no value
But I can't find documentation on what these various options do.
Anyone have any experience with this?

  • Create group in OID using java api

    Hi all!
I need to create group in OID using java api. Java api documentation contains examples for creating users but not for groups. I search oracle.com (and google) and didn't find any hint.
    Anybody know the way?
    thank you.

    Andrew,
a group is created like any other entry in OID. You need to specify the dn, objectclass(es) and (mandatory) attributes.
    e.g.
    objectclass=groupOfUniqueNames
    with
    uniquemember=cn=orcladmin, cn=Users, dc=de,dc=oracle,dc=com
as an example take a look at
    cn=iASAdmins, cn=Groups,cn=OracleContext,dc=de,dc=oracle,dc=com
to see the schema (data) for groupofuniquenames you can either use ODM or query the directory server
    ldapsearch -p 3060 -b "cn=subschemasubentry" -s base "objectclass=*"
    regards,
