Can I edit title of PDF in iBooks?

I wish to edit some of the titles of PDF's that are in my iBooks to make search a lot easier. Is this possible?

How to Change PDF Titles in iBooks Right on Your iPhone or iPad Itself!
This was driving me crazy, especially as all over the net there are bold statements it CANNOT be done along with convoluted, multi-step, hard-to-follow directions for doing this.  They involve transferring to Calibre, or transferring via iTunes then converting, rummaging within container files, editing meta data, etc.
Well, gang , it's easy to change *PDF* titles on your iOS device, iPad, or iPhone, right from within iBooks itself!!
All you need to do is to select the specific book and tap its title!    You do that by putting the books into a list view, so that you can see the titles.  Then tap a Edit in the upper right corner, select the book (tap the empty circle to its left), then tap the title!  That brings up the keyboard.  From there, backspace to delete letters or double-tap the title to select it all at once to replace it all at once.
I can't believe how simple it is.  Of course, bad Apple, it doesn't work the same way as in other Apple apps, but hey, it's doable.  It also doesn't seem to work with ePub books.
For the visually oriented, or for those who find I've made it too simple or left something out, take a gander at this video:
            http://www.documentsnap.com/rename-pdf-ibooks/
Note:   If you're having trouble making any selection, that's due to Apple's iBooks getting into a weird state every now and then where the empty circles cannot be selected-- for moving, deleting, anything.  If that happens, force-quit the app, relaunch, and go to town renaming your PDFs.  A couple of times I've also found that rather then being up the keyboard, it turns off the selection.
Happily, files/PDF books that used to be named such things as
           pleasuresofteles00servrich
and
           popguidetoheaven00ballrich
can be renamed to their proper titles
          Pleasures of the Telescope
and
          Popular Guide to the Heavens
Hope this helps someone else!

With Clear Scan you get the text replacing the graphics of text. That can be edited. If you do searchable PDF conversion, you can still edit (I think). However it is an edit of the hidden layer of text behind the graphic and does not show on screen normally.
Usually the best choice is to ask the author for the original file to edit. If that is a copyright issue, then you should not be editing anyway.

You can use PDF Buddy, the online PDF editor that makes it easy to add text, images, and annotations on top of scanned PDF files.

  • How do you disable "FILE IN USE" pop-ups so you can actually edit and delete PDFs?!

Can someone please help me with this query:
How do you disable "FILE IN USE" pop-ups so you can actually edit and delete PDFs?!
I continue to have a pop saying that either the file in open somewhere in the serve- which it is not- and I cannot delete a particular pdf or edit it.
It's incredibly frustrating and in the end I end up having four files with different names because it won't let me edit the original file!!!!

    Hi Amila1,
Are the pdfs stored on a network location?
If so is the Preview pane turned ON?

  • I use ibooks reading PDF documents. How can i mark text in PDFs in ibooks?

I use the application iBook reading PDFs. How can I mark text in PDFs?

For Tagged PDF the replace page approach ought to be avoided.
The behavior seen when replace page is used for an existing page having annotations is not present.
Insert of a tagged PDF into another PDF can be a problem as well. The "incoming" structure tree is always placed at the end of the existing structure tree.
Manually remediating this can become nasty very quickly.
Using the Touchup / Edit text tool on a 'good' tagged PDF ought to be avoided as well.
    Be well...

  • Can't edit title text in Final Cut Pro X

Okay I'm seriously about ready to pull my hair out. Every time I go to edit text, FCPX crashes. Now I have to close the inspector before editing text for it to not crash...and that works sometimes. But now I have a new problem. After exporting my movie, I noticed I needed to make some adjustments to titles... Tried double clicking the text in the viewer...it doesn't even let me edit it anymore! Really? Why would you even release this Apple? Final Cut Pro X is clearly not finished. What a joke.

    Hello,
It seems I have nearly the same problem. The simple fact of selecting the title in the project or in the project library crashes FinalCut Pro.
I thought it was caused by the accended frensh characters, like for an imported iMovie Project, but this is not the case. Even without accended characters, the crash is systematic.
Thanks a lot for the idea of closing the inspector! Now I can work with titles (sometimes at all) without crashing
The good news is: I can edit the title, even when re-opening the project later, if I:
    1. Select the title element with the inspector closed
    2. Open the inspector
    3. Modify some parameters like the colors of the titles.
    N.B.
    - The first time I did it, the inspector opened, empty, on the left side of the screen !?!
    - It works even in the precedent little project wich I encountered the bug
    - I can edit too in the viewer.

  • Can't edit text in PDF

    Hi,
Using Acrobat Pro 8.1.7 intel mac plenty of ram. I've got a PDF from a client that comes with areas that I can supposedly change. However I get this message:
All or part of the selection has no available system font. You can not add or delete text using the current selected font.
The font is Helv Neue Roman TT. I have every Helv Neue but that one. If I buy it can I edit it?
Would Acrobat 9 do it easier?
    Thanks

You've ran in to one of the problems with editing PDF's. They really aren't intended for that type of editing.
You would need the "exact" font on your system and even then, it may not work.
If the creator of the file used say and Open Type Font (works on Windows and Mac) and you had the same one, that would be your best bet.

  • Can't edit titles in iMovie

I want to edit my theme title in iMovie (v 10.0.02) so that I can put the text on more than one line but the options are all greyed out
I've read the help section on this (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2212) but I don't have the ability to click on the font, size, alignment etc tools. I can see them, they are just completely unclickable.
    Any ideas?

    Hi ivdemark,
If you see above, I read the iMovie support.
It says that the titles that you can't edit are in gold, while the titles you can edit are in blue. This title is in blue.
The options are there, they are just greyed out.
Below is a full screen shot. Does this help show the issue?

  • Can't Edit .txt and .pdf files in EP6 KM

We just migrated our last application from EP5 to EP6, and now we're having problems with not being able to edit .txt and .pdf files.  The problem is that the files will only open in the browser rather than in their native programs (wordpad/notepad, Adobe Editor, etc).  Surely others have encountered this issue.  Are there any solutions short of installing 3rd party tools?

    Hi Jeff,
Which program opens on a link depends on two things:
    1. The MIME-Type that is sent from the server together with the resource (file) you requested by clicking a link
    2. Your Windows Setting defining which local application should be used for which MIME Type.
So there may be two things happening:
    1. EP 6 is sending other (or no) MIME Types with the KM resources. You can check this in your KM configuration. See KM -> Services -> MIME Service
    2. Your OS got the settings for apps/MIMEs changed. This happens e.g. if you changed on Win XP to SP 2.
So here may be a solution:
    Go to Windows Explorer->Tools->Folder
Options->File Types, click on the TXT extention, and click
"Delete".  Then proceed to recreate the TXT file type with the
    default app you want (notepad).
IE will open your app (notepad) for links to text files from that point
    on.
So, to check this for text files, open the registry editor, go to
"My Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt" (or .TXT), and check for a 'String
    Value' with the value "text/plain".
This should work with any file type, as long as you use the right MIME Type (See KM configuration / MIME Services).
    HTH,
    Carsten

  • Can anyone edit title fonts and sizes in iMovie 10?

Trying to edit title fonts and sizes in iMovie 10 but font drop down does not respond.  Tried a couple of different style titles with same results.  Anyone else have this problem?

Another bug from apple. I can't even understund how do they test these products if most of the inspector options are not working. Same on Transition speed.

  • Can I change title of pdf docs in ibooks in mavericks

I have looked at my pdf documents on my mac, in Mavericks and cannot find a way to change the titles.  Am I missing how I can do this?
    Michelle

    Hi ...
I just copied a PDF file to my iBooks.
Tried control or right click but nothing from the pop up menu allows for changing the name of the file under any of the menus. All Books / Collections / Authors / Categories or lList.
    Apparently not.

  • How to edit titles, authors, etc. in iBooks

HO do I edit the categories and all other infor in either iBooks or iTunes?

    Have same or related question.
I can change the PDF file's title on the iPad-- tap the Edit button, select the item, and tap on the title-- but how does one change, or rather, add an author's name there if it is missing?

  • How can I find my lost pdfs in ibooks (ios7 and mavericks) after updating both?

I have lost all 60-70 of my PDF files, which I have collected over the last 5 years.
They are mainly surgical technique manuals for my job.
THey disappeared after I updated to ios 7 and Mavericks. I don't know at which point they were lost.
I restored my phone to the icloud backup made just after updating the ios (before Mavericks update.
All PDF titles appearedon the shelf - but I couldn't open them. A download line was beneath each of them, suggesting they would be downloaded at some point.
After an hour or so of my phone updating and reloading all the apps, I reopened ibooks. The title were there but they disappeared before my eyes.
Perhaps it was syncing with ibooks in the MAc, where the PDFs no longer appear.
I really need these back. They are irreplaceable.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Tom, I was desperately hoping your solution would work for me, but although I can find the Library folder as per your instructions, mine does not have a "Containers" sub-folder. Any idea on what to do from here?
It's unbelievably bad that updating to iOS7 wipes out iBooks and leaves you hanging. (I didn't want to upgrade, but tried to put more music onto my iPad2 and it instead upgraded my OS. Now, I can't get music onto my iPad2 for some reason I haven't figured out yet, and just discovered yesterday that my iBook PDFs have disappeared. I kept my Canon Powershot UserGuide on there so would have access to how to do things with my camera while on a trip.)
I hate everything about iOS7 (and even joined the Facebook page "I hate iOS7"). Thanks for any ideas you have for us poor folks who spend good money and get no communication or instruction whatsoever when Apple wields its big stick.
10 MINUTES LATER: Found them! In iTunes/iTunes Music/Books (as if Books was the name of an Artist).
However, when I try what the previous person did -- right-click and choose "Open in iBooks," I do not get iBooks as an option for opening. Tried "Other" but it just gave me my iMac apps, so nothing like iBooks was available.
So, I'm making progress but don't know what to do next. Thanks for any help.
