Can i install Final cut studio 5 and DVD Studio Pro 4 on OSX lion

Is any body who can help me on giving me some direction on how to install Final Cut Studio 5.1 and DVD Studio Pro 4 on my OSX Lion, if it's doable. Thanks

The easiest way is to install Rosetta from a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD first.
There's also a way of doing it via Terminal that's been posted here a couple of times. A search should bring that up.

  • Can i install final cut 4 and final cut 5 on the same machine ?

    hi
i currently use fcp 5.14 on my g5 dual 2.3 (pci-x). i am starting to teach fcp at a college where they use fcp 4.5.
i know that i wont be able to prepare assignments for the students on fcp 5 'cause they wont be able to open them up on 4.5.
the system admin at the college gave me a copy of fcp 4 to install on my machine to sit next to my fcp 5.
my question is, can it be done ?
can 2 different versions of fcp exist on my machine without problems ?
do i need to install fcp 4 on a separate drive so it wont conflict with 5 ?
    any thoughts on that ?
    thank you very much..,
    nir

It can be done with a dual boot setup. I'll not speak to whether it should be done, other than to say it works for us.

We had to keep FCHD4.5 for awhile, so I archived 10.3.9, wiped the drive, partitioned it and re-installed 10.3.9 on one and 10.4 on another partition.
Then simply boot from different startup disk, depending on which OS you need to work on."<<

  • I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am

I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am? I need them and don't want naturally to buy them again!!!
    Thank you

Assuming you purchased QT Pro, you can always download it again at no extra charge by logging in to your Apple account.
Regarding FCE, there is no way to download & install the product.  You need an original FCE install disk and your FCE serial number.
Final Cut Pro X (aka FCPX) can be purchased & downloaded from the App Store.

  • Can I install final cut express 2 on Panther 910.3.4

    Hi there,
Long time, Can I install final cut express 2 on Panther 910.3.4
    Thanks
    Fabricio

    Hi Fabricio,
I assume you have 10.3.4 and not 910.3.4 on the machine you want to install it on? If so, here are the system requirements I see for it:
    Final Cut Express 2.0.2
    System Requirements
    * Macintosh computer with a 350MHz PowerPC G4 or G5 processor and AGP graphics card.
    * RT Extreme requires a 500MHz PowerPC G4 (550MHz for PowerBook G4) or G5 processor
or any dual PowerPC G4 or G5 processors.
    * Mac OS X v10.2.5 or later.
    * QuickTime 6.4 or later.
    * 384MB of RAM (512MB required for RT Extreme).
    * 40MB of available disk space required for installation.
    hope that helps some,

  • Can I install final cut express on a second computer?

Can I install final cut express on a second computer?

The FCE license permits you to install FCE on 1 Mac desktop + 1 Mac laptop provided you own and use both computers.  You are not permitted to install on 2 laptops or 2 desktops.
    From the FCE license:
    2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.
    A. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on one Apple-labeled desktop computer and one Apple-labeled laptop computer so long as both computers are owned and used by you.
If you are not the owner of the second Mac then an additional license is required for it.
The fact that there are 2 stickers means nothing.  It's just 2 stickers.  The intent was for you to put them in different places so that you hopefully don't lose both stickers.

  • Why Final Cut X and Not Premier Pro?

I've been using FCP for many years and was shocked when FCX first came out. Thought it was just iMovie with a few more features. I know there was a big update to FCX which added a bunch of features that pros need (why Apple would didn't just wait 6 mos. and release THAT version first is beyond me, but that's another thread in itself).
I can't use FCP 6 forever, but I'm nervous to make the leap. I have to say, Premiere Pro CS6 is tantalizing and is fully supported people seem to love it.
I make :30 sec. TV/web spots mainly, with the occasional longer project thrown in. We already have CS5 so upgrading wouldn't be too bad.
Why Final Cut X and Not Premier Pro?
    Any advice is appreciated.

first of all: I'm no pro - my personal enthusiasm about FCPX doesn't help you
maybe some 'real world' examples from professionals using FCPX:
    http://fcp.co/final-cut-pro/news/906-making-a-music-video-shot-on-red-composited -in-after-effects-graded-in-resolve-and-edited-in-final-cut-pro-x

or this example from the Ripple Team:
    http://fcp.co/final-cut-pro/tutorials/905-lightning-fast-organisation-of-media-i n-final-cut-pro-x
... to illustrate the very different GUI and workflows of FCPX.
it's probably crucial when youre used to the 'old' (no offense ment!) metaphores.
I assume a perfect integration of Premiere with AE and PS ... (which would completely overstrain an hobbyist like me - way too much options ) - FCPX is in its actual version more an island (even no integration with/to Motion5)
best advice was already given twice:
test on your own - keep in  mind: it is very different ....

  • How can I install Final Cut Studio 2 on my new MacBook Pro with Lion?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.
Does anyone know how I can obtain Rosetta? Or another way to install this without it?
    Thank you ! :)

There is no way to add Rosetta support because it is not supported by OS X Lion at system level. This has been documented before the release of OS X Lion by itself.
If you really need Final Cut Studio 2, I would return your computer if possible, and purchase a Mac that is capable of running Snow Leopard (all 2010 models, early 2011 MBP and some other 2011 models)

  • Can't install Final Cut Studio 2 because "PowerPC applications are no longer supported"

Bought a brand new 15" MacBookPro OS X 10.7 2.2Ghz Intel Core i7 and tried to install Final Cut Studio 2. Got the error message "You can't open the application FinalCutStudio.mpkg because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." Oh no, does this mean I have to spend more money!???

I'd like to provide an update on this situation in case anyone is in the same boat I am.
I went to the Apple store today. I asked if I could downgrade my operating system. They said no, since it came pre-installed with Lion. I asked if Final Cut Studio 3 was compatible with Lion. They said yes, for the most part. They said there was an issue exporting video in 1080p.
Of course, conveniently Apple is no longer selling FCS3 and the ones on Ebay I saw have gone up to more than $650 a copy. I am out $400 for stupidly buying FCS2 a few months ago, which is now useless to me. I told the Apple guy that I'm not buying FCS X until they work out all the kinks. This leaves me with this laptop that I bought for video editing with no editing software to use.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually considering getting Premiere Pro now for Apple, which is supported in Lion and is running a deal for 50% off. (http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq.html#lion-os) If Apple doesn't start selling FCS 3 again, they are really not giving me any choice but to switch!

  • Can I install Final Cut Studio 3.0 after already having FCP X?

I have already installed FCP X on one of my computers.  I need to install Final Cut Studio 3.0 on the same computer now.
When I tried to install, I get the selection screen and Final Cut is ghosted out and unavailable.
Is there a way around this?  I know FCP X can co-exist with Final Cut Studio 3.0 if it's installed afterward, but I need to know if I can install Final Cut Studio after FCP X which I imagine is a fairly rare situation.
I'm on Lion -- in case that matters.
    _Matt_

I'm not positive, but I believe that FCPX installer is aware of FCS. If you intsall FCPX and FCS is already on your computer, the FCPX installer will move FCS into a folder inside Applications. I'm sure FCS installer is not aware of the existance of FCPX.
I would guess that you would have to uninstall FCPX, install FCS and then, if you wanted, re-install FCPX, using the App Store.
I have not actually done this, but I'm guessing that having FCPX already on your computer is what's causing issues with the FCS installer.

  • Can't install Final Cut Studio

I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.6 and am trying to install Final Cut Studio. When individually do Livetype or Motion it works. When I do the Final Cut disc I get this error message.
"Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software. See the Read Me for details."
My computer should have necessary specifications with 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
    What should I do?

That could very well be a Pre-Intel version of FCS. It won't install properly on an Intel Mac.

  • I CAN'T INSTALL FINAL CUT PRO 3 ON MY NEW INTEL IMAC, HELP!!!

I'm trying to install FINAL CUT PRO 3 onto my new iMac but can't. It reads the disk but then says, "Original disk needed for install." I have the original disk, I own a registered copy of the program, so I'm stuck.

    Hi -
I believe Final Cut 5 is designed to run on a Power PC CPU machine, the current MacBooks use Intel chips - so the software will not install on your Intel based MacBook.
You can, however, upgrade from a full version of Final Cut 5 to Final Cut Studio 3 which contains the latest version of FCP, version 7 as well as Compressor, Color, Soundtrack Pro and Motion for $299 which is a steal as the full version for Final Cut Studio 3 is $999.
You only need the serial number of the full version (non-academic or non-upgrade version) to do the FCS 3 upgrade - you don't need to have FCP 5 loaded on your machine to make the upgrade work.
    Hope this helps.

  • Still Frames Exported from Final Cut Jitter in DVD Studio Pro

I'm on a Titanium Powerbook G4. I use Final Cut 3.0 and DVD Studio Pro 1.5. Within my film I have several 15 second clips that are each a compilation of a single frame repeated many times so as to get the look of a still picture on the screen. I exported my film as a F.C.P. movie and when I watch it in Quicktime everything appears fine (as it does when I play it from within F.C.P.). However, when I author the DVD with Studio Pro (tried it w/ iDVD also and received the same unwanted result)those clips "jitter" or shake back and forth so I get a blurry image instead of a still, clear image like in F.C.P.
I burn the DVD w/ the internal combo drive on my Powerbook. I have never had an issue w/ any DVD that I have editied, authored or burned on this computer or w/ these programs.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Ryan
