How can I install Lion on a mac mini Model 4.1 late 2009 ? I erased OX 10.6.8. Have tried numerous times. Iam using the usb card from apple store.
Does the Mini meet the Lion system requirements?

hi, we are using mac mini's for our developement purpose. connecting the same through using Real VNC. Mac mini's are late 2009 and 2010. Now we have upgraded them to 10.8.5. after upgrading having display issues after launching the simulators, we are unable to view the icons we need to move the simulator (into different places) to view the icons.
Also we are having Mac book pro's (Late 2009 & 2010) after upgrading them to 10.8.5. Unable to launch the mac, getting only white screen with apple icon.
Let me know is there any specific Hardware (Graphic Cards) we need to use for the same.

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions. -

I just got a brand new i7 Mac Mini 2011 server with 2 hard drives. I don't actually want Mac OS X Server, I just want the regular version of Lion. But the computer came with no install media. I have the Lion USB key but it does not boot the mini. I even tried to boot it with an external USB drive running Lion 10.7.1 but that didn't work either. How can I wipe the computer and just install Lion (not server)?Don't wipe your mini or you have to bring it to an authorized service center!

hello,there are 2 harddisks on a mac mini server 2010 (snow leopard server.)i want to use the other hdd for installing Windows home server 2011 x64 .
but there is no bootcamp on the server.(do i have to download it?)

i have also a mac mini and a macbook pro and an alienware and a clevo laptop so i want the 2 servers seperate(and the mac-server on all the time)You would need to install SL (non sever) on you Mac Mini Server.
You may be able to install the nonsever version on your 2nd HDD
-Partition you 2nd HDD to the max BootCamp Partition
-Install Windows Home Server on the BootCamp Partition (don't know of Windows Server is supported)
So you would have:
hdd1 - SnowLeopard Server
hdd2 - SnowLeopard (non-server) + Bootcamp Partition
Scenario 2:
If you don't have a need for SL Server SW, then wipe out the system and put only the regular SL (non sever) on disk 1. Partition Disk2 for Bootcamp only.
hdd1- SL (non-sever)
hdd2 - Bootcamp
I really don't know if you can copy the Bootcamp app onto SL Server OS to create a Bootcamp partition. -

You don't have to use an Apple drive. Any name brand
USB CD/DVD drive will work. "Off brands" are best to
be avoided regardless of computer. LG's seem to work

You must use the 10.4.10 (8R3014) System Disc that came with that Mini, or a later OS X (Leopard, Snow Leopard) Retail Upgrade Disc to do a clean install.

The DVD drive in my Mac Mini has recently become non-functional, "About this Mac" sees the drive fine,

But when you insert a disc there is no response, it does not see to attempt to read it just ejects after about 20-30 seconds.
Any suggestions as to what could be the problem? This issue started sometime after I upgraded the memory, but I cannot be sure that the two things are connected as I very rarely use the DVD drive and the first time I tried to use it was several months later.
Many ThanksOptical drives are pretty short lived in my experience.
Might try a cleaning Disc.

I rebooted the Mac Mini holding the Option key down but it doesn't work. I used an USB drive with O.s 10.7 from Apple that I have used previuosly with other computers and I also tried with a CD install O.S 10.6
It seems that the Mac Mini can't recognize the keyboard inputs and I tried with 3 different keyboards but still didn't work.
I also reset the SMC and PRAM but I had no luck. Any clues? -
Can't install Lion from usb to my mac pro!!!
I created a USB boot disk per instructions and when it boots on my Mac Pro all it goes to is the Safari Only interface with no options to install anything. Just to be sure I boot to the same USB on my Macbook Air and I get the OS X Lion install options/interface so the USB key works.
I have a brand new 3TB drive as the install disc. I did boot to a Snow Leopard install disc so that I could format the drive correctly as the USB key didn't give me those options. In any case I can't install Lion for some reason to this machine. Any ideas?

Try this, use LionDiskMaker to create the USB installer.

I own two I macs. I bought and installed Lion on one computer. How can I install Lion on the other compute without additional charge?
If it's the same email address Apple registration on both, use the 2nd computer and go to the App Store and find Lion. If different, use the second computer but log in to the App store with the address you used on the first go round. The buy button should instead say install. Then go through the same process again.
