Can I move Array from one Xserve RAID to another and keep the data

I'd like to move a set of disk with an existing Array from one Xserve RAID to another. Can I simply shutdown both Xserve RAIDs and move the disk over, assuming I put the disk back in the same order?

Yes, you should be able to do this.
BE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP FIRST.

    Can I move music from one apple account to another?

    Typically not.  Consider the case where you used an Apple account (call it A1) to purchase songs from iTunes.  Now you are interested in moving your music to account A2.  Well A2 does not own the music - A1 does.  So that's a problem.

    I have a document made up of separate PDF files which reside in a folder and are linked to each other via hyperlinks. Each pdf file is set to open with bookmarks displayed, however if I link from one PDF file to another and use the "Previous View" button to navigate back to my starting point the bookmarks are replaced by "page thumbnails". Is there anyway to stop this from happening?

    Hi Pusman,
    While setting up the links, if you choose to open the file in a new window then you won't face this issue, then you can simply switch to the previous file and bookmark view will remain as it is.
    Does that helps with your query?

    Hi all,
    For Tunning reasons : perform The I/O from the Instance to datafiles (database). I decide to move some Index datafiles from One DISK RAID to another.
    I'm on Linux Redhat Server and Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0
    My database 's On PRODUCTION and there 're many web applications updating some databases tables and for sure using Index tablespace. I preapared yet my procedure to move datafiles but I'm posting this to be sure that I will not have BAD EFFECTS on my Oracle database.
    So I plan without SHUTDOWN MY DATABASE to these steps :
    /*Step1 : */
    ALTER TABLESPACE INDX OFFLINE ;
    /*Step 2 : move datafiles to new disk raid*/
    mv /u01/oraindx/DB01/indx01_05.dbf /u01/oraindx2/DB01/indx01_05.dbf
    mv /u01/oraindx/DB01/indx01_06.dbf /u01/oraindx2/DB01/indx01_06.dbf
    mv /u01/oraindx/DB01/indx01_07.dbf /u01/oraindx2/DB01/indx01_07.dbf
    /*Step 3 : */
    ALTER TABLESPACE INDX RENAME DATAFILE '/u01/oraindx/DB01/indx01_05.dbf' TO '/u01/oraindx2/DB01/indx01_05.dbf';
    ALTER TABLESPACE INDX RENAME DATAFILE '/u01/oraindx/DB01/indx01_06.dbf' TO '/u01/oraindx2/DB01/indx01_06.dbf';
    ALTER TABLESPACE INDX RENAME DATAFILE '/u01/oraindx/DB01/indx01_07.dbf' TO '/u01/oraindx2/DB01/indx01_07.dbf';
    /*Step 4 : */
    ALTER TABLESPACE INDX ONLINE ;
    Please verify my procedure and tell me the precautions that I should take care :=)
    regards,

    If this is an active databases (indexes are used),

  • Digital movie download - can I move it from one iTunes file to another?

    I have gotten several new Blu-ray and DVD sets for Christmas. Included is a digital copy which can be downloaded. Once I download and move it to iTunes, can I export that from one iTunes file on my Mac to another Mac which I own? I haven't been able to find a relevant post.

    CWmain, this is something I'm keen to know too. I've got the new Star Trek and Transformers 2 Blu-ray discs with digital copies. I was hoping I could download the movies to my Mac Pro by redeeming the codes supplied with the discs and once downloaded just copy the resulting download files across to my MacBook Pro. I'm hoping that because both machines are authorised with my iTunes account it should just 'work'. Can anyone confirm this is correct before I go ahead?

  • Can I move system from one hard drive to another?

    I am using 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro dual quad core. My hard drive is failing and I want to put the contents including applications and system components on the new drive. I think I have Lepord disks and thought I had Snow lepard disk, but cannot find those. What do I need to do???

    Clean install? you need the DVD.
    Clone the system: you are fine and you can break it up like most here - system on one drive, data on 2nd
    And... you need backups. Clone the system. Use TimeMachine. Have a strategy and redundancy so more than one place and copy. And rotate and buy new drives before they go and have backup and spare on hand.
    Consider an SSD for the system, best $104 investment with return on performance.
    Clone
    Disk utility has RESTORE which will also clone your system but not the Lion Recovery partition. Oddly  Apple did not 'endorse' making bootable clone of the system which works too but most choose Carbon Copy Cloner - it works more consistently; it allows for smart update of the backup volume. Both can backup to a sparse disk image if desired.

    To successfully relocate your operating system, user accounts and data from one storage device to another, meet the following conditions:
    The destination storage device (SSD drive or hard drive) you are migrating to should be physically located in the same computer.  Moving operating system files from one computer to another computer using software not specifically designed for that computer can cause issues due to software, hardware, and firmware version mismatches.

  • How can you move pages from one Muse site to another Muse site?

    I am trying to move pages from one Muse sitemap page to another Muse sitemap. This is so I can have multiple people working on creating hundreds of project profile pages and then transfer them into the master file that will be the final site.

    In this case your best bet would be to have the other people just provide content without the template and then you can just plug content in rather than doing a select all.
    You can open up both your site and their site at the same time in Muse to help the copying process.

  • Can I move songs from one computers library to another?

    Hi I have an Ipod that my husband originally set up on his computer. I have since set it up on my computer and I have a separater library. Can I plug in the Ipod to my computer and download the library that was on his computer. If so, how. Thank you for any suggestions and help.

    Place the iPod in disk mode, drag songs from one computer to it's icon in the My Computer window, and on the other machine, drag the songs to the hard disk and then into the iTunes library.

  • Can I move "keepsakes" from one iPhoto library to another?

    For one reason or another a specific "keepsake" photobook was created in an iPhoto library that only contained a subset of all my photos. Now I would like to integrate this specific photobook into the iPhoto library that contains ALL my photos, such that all keepsakes are together.
    Is there a way, even a work-around or a round-about way that this specific keepsake photobook can be moved into the overall library?
    Thanks for any pointers/suggestions/advice.
    Cheers,
    Veit

    No, there is no way to move a keepsake from one Library to another.

  • How can I move pages from one iphoto book to another?

    I'd apprecate it if anyone could tell me if it's possible to move some pages from one book I've created in iphoto to another book.
    I basically want to split my book in two, but I've done way too much detailed work to want to start again!

    You could make a duplicate of your existing book by control-clicking on it and clicking "Duplicate", then delete the unneeded pages from both books.

  • Xserve Raid - moving raid set from one Xserve Raid to another Xserve Raid.

    I have 2 raids, and one will be moving to another building. Can I take one raid set out of unit 1 and place it into unit 2 without losing the data that is on it?

    You shouldn't loose the data, but you may have to use the RAID utilities to recognize the set, once it is in the the other XRAID box.
    As always, you should backup, in any event, if you have the space.

  • How can I transfer "notes" from one icloud account to another, and other account questions

    Hey,
    I currently have 2 icloud accounts. (In total I have 4 seperate apple ids somehow, 1 @me.com, 1 @icloud.com, 1 @gmail.com, and 1 apple id. But that's a problem I'll talk about later).
    Right now, all of my notes got deleted from my iphone, but they are on the icloud account A: (@me.com account's icloud.) When I reconnect this account to my iphone, the notes are there. However, when I turn off note syncing in my iphone's icloud settings, I'm not prompted to "keep data on iphone" (like I am prompted with contacts). Instead, they are just deleted from the iphone. So there's no way to connect the icloud account A, download the data, and reconnect icloud account B.
    How can I get these notes from icloud account A to icloud account B (or just getting it from icloud account A to my iphone.)
    And while I'm at it, how can I get the @icloud account that was linked with the @me.com account to get linked to the @gmail.com account.
    Sorry if this is confusing.

    Let me rephrase my comment...  I used Windows to sync my data without icloud, we decided to switch to mac and purchased a $2000 osx driven machine only to find out apple has "secretly" disabled mobile sync services and replaced it with icloud syncing.  There was NO documentation stating this fact before my purchase, it was only realized when users started running into syncing issues that apple disclosed mavericks no longers uses mobile syncing services and "requires you to use icloud to sync device information" on this forum.
    They removed a integral part of my privacy without telling me, or warning me, before i spent money on non-refundable merchandice.
    These are not mindless, I was forced into mavericks when i purchased a new mac... All other versions of OSX provide modile syncing services.
    And I was not threatening lawsuit, i was stating a thought that this leavs apple open to a lawsuit for people who want their data kept private, they are FORCING the use of icloud now.

  • Can I move files from one hard drive to another without replacing/duplicating existing files?

    Long story short, my work purchased a Macbook Pro and copied all of my files from my iMac to my new Macbook Pro. I've had to work on my iMac before my laptop was fully ready and now I need to transfer more files over to my Macbook Pro.
    Is there a way that I can drag contents from my profile folder (documents, downloads, etc.) to my Macbook without have to moving 100+ gbs of information. Basically, is there a way that the computer can recognize that "Folder A" already exists on my Macbook Pro and it will not ask to replace that folder?
    I am sorry of my question is vague; I'll rephrase if necessary.

    Well, if you drag the contents of your "Documents" folder (on iMac) into your new "Documents" folder (on MacBook Pro) for instance, and choose "Do Not Replace" while checking the "Apply to All" box, it will only transfer new items (this does not include updated items). Now if the new items are in folders that exist under "Documents", then you may need to go into individual folders and repeat this process. That's the only way I can think of doing it. I'd hold off to see if anyone else has a better answer. Good luck!

  • HT1711 can u transfer music from one itunes account to another if belonging to the same household

    Can you transfer music from one itunes account to another if in the same household ??

    You can give the person a copy of the song files, which they can then add to their iTunes library.
