Can I pass ID of the table instaed of value in dashboard prompts?
HI,
Say, I have a table QUESTION which contains 2 columns: ID, DESCRIPTION.
sample data:
ID DESCRIPTION
1 TEST
2 TEST1
3 TEST11
4 TEST
Herer the DESCRIPTION is stored in the order they appear in a portal application
Please note that the value of ID 1 & 4 are lexically same
I now make DESCRIPTION column sorted on ID column in LOGICAL layer and use DESCRIPTION in my dashboard prompt, it will list :
TEST
TEST1
TEST11
TEST
but once I select any of the TEST value the results will be shown against both the TEST value, what I want is that if I choose the first TEST value I get the reults against it and when I choose the fourth TEST value I get the results against it only.
IS this feasible ? Can we pass ID instead of DESCRIPTION as filter ?
Any other ideas are welcome.
thanks
Rishabh

Can we pass paramters in the partition script
Can we pass parameters in the partition script in Essbase. Where the parameters are read by a windows batch file which is executed in windows environment.
Our Business requirement, the business will key in the parameters ie(Month and Year) in a partition script dynamically.
We are scheduling the partition script through Windows Batch file.
So is it possible to create a parameter file in windows and pass these parameters to windows batch file.It should be dynamically mapped with partition Script. If possible, can anyone provide sample script to show how it works.Thank You Wills. The requirement is the users want to change the mappings in the partition script, but users are not having any access to the EAS. They want the mappings to be dynamically changed in the partition script on adhoc basis.
Admin can change the values to the substituion variables, but the requirement is users wants to change the mappings.
So they asked for the parameter file. -
How can i do to see the master and text values of the Key figure 0UNIT
Hi gurus,
How can i do to see the master and text values of the Key figure 0UNIT, please step by step, i m in the key figure 0UNIT but i want to see if the UNIT for example BX = BOX, something like this is that i want to check, thanks! If you look at the unit tables, you will see the values and texts. It's in SPRO, not in RSA1. My access is limited on my system here, but the documentation says to go to t-code CUNI. I believe in that tcode you can look at all of the unit equivalencies and what each unit's text is ..... like an ea means each; KG = Kilogram; etc...
I am on an 3.x system, so in SPRO I go to BW CIG=>General Settings=>Check units of measurement.

How can we display the list of Report Names in Dashboard Prompt?
How can we display the list of Report Names in Dashboard Prompt?
Hi,
No its not possible to display list of reports in dashboard prompts.
Can do this using SQl results in prompt(we write query checking out report names manualy),but its not easy thing if you are having many report names to be displayed.
Assign points and close your threads if answered.

Passing Values to Dashboard Prompt
Hi Gurus,
I have a summary Dashboard page with summary report and prompt build on Summary table , and i have a detail dashboard page contains Detail report and prompt same as Summary but these prompts are from Dimension tables and report from fact and Dimension.
The requirement is Once i click some value in Summary dashboard it has to pass the values to Detail dashboard ( Means Passing the values to Dashboard prompt) and show the result in detail.
As i cant use the OBIEE navigation logic to pass the values as prompts columns are not from same table. So i thought to use the GO URL this also i cant use as i am using Pivot table in Summary report. I thought to use Summary prompt in the detail Dashboard and create a dummy reports based on the prompt and resultant value pass to the Detail reports. I am able get the values but i am not getting proper answer. I dont no why .
Is i am doing correct ? i know its not elegant way. If some one give me tip or direction that will be great help.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
AliIf you are attempting to pass a value from one table1.column1 to another table2.column2 where the two do not match then you will need to use a presentation variable to hold the value. You can populate the variable using a hidden dashboard prompt that has the table1.table2 and read the value into a variable. You can then use this variable to filter the table2.column2

How to pass values to dashboard prompts from external applications
Any idea is well appreciated.
How can I pass values of dashboard prompts from external applications to the dashboard prompts so that the dashboard is prefiltered based on values sent by external applications.
Thanks in Advance!
KrisKris,
i am able to change the session variable and able to call the dashboard from external app, but i identified prompt value not changing. but Finally i am able to found a workaround for you.
Use the following URL and it explained here
http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&nquser=Administrator&nqpassword=Administrator&PortalPath=/shared/abcd/_portal/dash1&Options=rmf&DSN=madan
PortalPath is your dashboard location. /shared/abcd is folder where i saved dashboards. dash1 is my dashboard name.
internally this dashboard includes many reports that uses the session variable. after doing above this i am able to update the session variable to the value i have given in URL, DSN=value.
You may observer here that calls the dashboard and passes the value but its not updating the prompt value. so workaround for this is edit your prompt,
change the Default to - SQL Results and place the sql
SELECT CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN Markets.Region ELSE VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.DSN) END saw_0 FROM Paint
again here Market.Region is column from presentation layer and Paint is subject area. After doing this step, your prompt always shows value in the session varible as default.
Now include reports and dashboard prompt in the dashboard and run this url from external applicaitons.
http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&nquser=Administrator&nqpassword=Administrator&PortalPath=/shared/abcd/_portal/dash1&Options=rmf&DSN=madan
it worked for me and blog this soon. if it works for you mark the question as answered and mark my replies as correct.
thanks

OpenDocument - Can you pass input controls & other table columns
I need your expertise.....In Webi XI 4.0
I have used The OpenDocument URL to pass prompts as parameters...and that worked perfectly
But now I want to pass input control as well...but now sure if this is possible
and I would like to pass other columns in the table that are not part of my prompts
e.g. I have 3 columns on my table
i.e.
Column name Country Name Provice Number of Cities
Column Data South Africa Gauteng 20
South Africa Mpumalanga 10
South America xxxxx 2
The Country Name and Province are not part of my prompts....but I want to include them on my OpenDocument URL so that I can limit my data to that particular Country and Province.......
Your help will be highly appreciated
Thank you in advanceAs far as I know you cannot pass input controls to the opendoc. and the only way to restrict your child report with additional columns is to include them as filters. As there is no other way your child report would know that it should restrict the report with your column.
Thanks,

How can i display data in the table?
i have a vi that reading the data 1 by 1 (according on what you have chosen)data is displaying in the the table, also 1 by 1 in 1 column only.
I want them to look like this:
apple | epol | apol
mango | manga| maga
(if it is Ok, can i have an example how can i do this?)
Thank YouIn LabView 6 or 7, you can use a table control. You can control the displayed size programmaitcally with a property node or by editing the front panel control.
Look at the table examples that ship with LabView. From any LabView window, goto Help >> Find Examples >> Search, then enter TABLE ins the box labeled Type a keyword to find. -
Problem with hidding Search fields used to pass IDs to the table
Hello,
I have a problem which may be trivial but I cannot find the solution for quite a long time.
Please help
I have created a standard Search Panel with CustomSimpleSearch
I have LOVs to search for manager and organizations. You simply choose the a manager of an organization from the list.
Then I would like to put the values back on the original form
in two fields (in case of manager)
Manager name - visible for users so they know what they selected
Manager ID - to use to search the records in the table I have
SO I have defined mappings and the values are passed and then
the records are found based on Manager ID. The only problem is
I don;t want the ID to be displayed on the screen. I would like to hide this
messageTextInput
but I cannot
I tried setting the following attributes:
Rendered = false -> searching does not work
Secret = true -> searching does not work
Length = 0 - > lenght does not change
How to hide this field so that the ID is passed to it transparently and then the value is used for searching ?
Thank You in advance for Your help
This forum is great
MichaelUse formValue bean instead of messageTextInput. It is used for the very same purpose which you are looking for.

Can we create cursor using the table created dynamically
Dear all,
Can we create the cursor using the table which is created dynamically using "Execute immediate" within the same procedure,
or is there any way to call the table created dynamically ..
please Do Help me in this
thanks alot
Edited by: khaja on Jan 18, 2009 10:57 AMWell, I don't think this approach is bad in any possible circumstances. It depends on the requirements we don't know. Yes, usually applications should not be designed in this way. But 'usually' does not mean 'never'. One possible case is described in Oracle's example Referencing Database Objects that Do Not Exist at Compilation. It's possible to assume that tables inv_01_2003, inv_04_2003, etc from the referenced topic What Is Dynamic SQL? are generated automatically by some job using dynamic create table stmt. If the OP has similar requirements tnen this approach is not bad. It may not be the best one but it at least is not so bad as you said.
I believe that OPs know their requirements much better than me. This is why I always try to answer the exact question. If the approach is really ugly then I don't answer such questions at all.

Can I pass variables in the URL string?
I am trying to get some variables into a loaded swf at
runtime. The variables will carry information so the swf can load
the correct xml file. I thought we could pass them through the URL
string like so:
new URLRequest("testing.swf?myVar=varOne
but it just throws an URL cannot be found error. How can I
get variables into my swf at runtime? What you are doing is fine. But you will always get that
error when testing
the movie (Ctrl+Enter). Try it in a browser and it should
work.
BTW, another way of doing the same is to use a URLVariables
object, like so:
var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("testing.swf");
var vars:URLVariables = new
URLVariables("myVar=varOne&myVar2=varTwo");
req.data = vars; -
Can you pass parameters to the Dashboard in a URL?
Hi,
I'm trying to launch a dashboard from a weblink in a new window but I can't figure out how to pass any parameters into the dashboard. I would like to set the prompt or the presentation variable or anything that could be used to filter the results of the 4 reports running in the dashboard. Right now the dashboard comes up with all results from all accounts and I want just results from the account with the weblink.
Is this possible?
thanksOk,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
This is the URL maybe I messed something up...

Can I pass copy of the 4GB installer to a friend?
Hi -
A friend of mine wants to copy the 4GB installer for Mac OSX Lion that I have just download because of his slow internet connection.
Can I pass my copy to him? Is the installer in anyway will only work for my Apple ID?
If in case he use the installer, will I be billed in my credit card for the second install? Or will the Apps Store notify him that the installer is only for my Apple ID?
Is there a way where if he use the same installer from me, he can still use his Apple ID and credit card?
