Can I print only odd pages or even pages?

Hi,
I would like to be able to print only odd pages, then turn the stack over and print the even pages. I often need to reprint manuals from pdf files for my clients. Some need to be printed this way. My old PC would do this. The tech support at HP says the problem is the Mac printer software doesn't have the option to print only odd or even pages. -Kentar

Hi kentar,

You can do this with Adobe Reader.
Simply press Command-P to summon the Print dialogue box, and then in the Subset box, select Odd pages from the drop-down menu.
Check the box for 'Reverse Pages' if you like.
I generally print the odd pages first in reverse order, and then just turn the stack over and then print even pages in forward order.

  • How can I print only "odd" or only "even" pages with version10.6.3

Sorry for my stupidity, but I'm very new to Mac. Love it, but am about to throw it across the room. My old PC just had a button to click in the print window that said "print only odd pages", then I could turn the pages over and click "print only even pages" and they would be two sided.
Where is this button on the Mac?
    Thank you

Your welcome. BTW you may want to invest a few bucks on a good OS X book, lots of really useful information that can save you a huge amount of time. One I really like is:

  • Printing only odd/even numbered pages does not work

I've got following problem: Printing only odd/even numbered pages does not work. Not in Preview, nor Adobe Reader. I Don't know why. i'm using a hp Color LaserJet 2550L. I just worked fine, but I cannot remember the time this failing first occured. I really hope the problem will be solved quick and easy.
    Thanks so far
    Bastian.

Mine does not work either. I have trashed prefs, rewrote permissions, ran Disk Utility from a separate HD, etc. and I cannot get this feature to work.
I got 45 odd pages to print last night and now it won't print odd or even pages. I am reduced to printing every backside page one at a time. If I would have known about this problem before I could have saved myself an hour and just printed them all on single sided sheets. I tried to save paper and now I'm screwed (timewise)......
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You,

  • How do I "Print Booklet" with just odd pages and even pages for duplexing . . options disabled

I have InDesign CS5.5 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine hooked to a Xerox 7750 printer.  I have created a 8.5x11 portrait document and trying to create a booklet on 12x18 sheets.
I need to print duplex manually and so I need to print just the odd spreads and then the even spreads.
I have printed to Adobe PDF and printed from my created PDF file and have it working, but I want to know why InDesign won't let me do it.  When I click "File > Print Booklet > Print Settings" then it shows the Print Dialog box with the Pages section, which includes the Sequence that normally would allow me to do Odd Pages or Even Pages, but it is disabled.  Why?  I can define Print Presets and I can choose Odd Pages, but when I choose that in the Preset box it does not show anything, everything is still disabled.
Anybody have any idea of why it is disabled?  Is it my printer driver?

I too was very frustrated after upgrading to indesign cs5.5 and the latest LION OS on my new MAC.  I missed the odd/even page selection in the print dialog box within Indesign.  I tried about everything and found little of value in various forums.  But I did find a workable solution that makes since in terms of Apple's OS.
My objective is to "impose" my document and also end up with a file that I can just print again and again without "ripping" in the InDesign Print Booklet Dialog.
Here is the quick version of what to do.  I am not including every little step with pictures. =)  (I can if there is interest.)
    1. create your document
    2. Print Booklet
    3. At the first dialog box, just ignore the printer in print preset (you will come back to this) and go to the 2-up perfect bound option and select 16 page signatures.  This will impose 2-up on 4 physical pieces of paper printed both sides.  So 16 of your document pages printed duplex on 4 physical sheets of paper.  It would be nice to then just select the printer and scaling, etc. and the option to print even pages, flip over and then print odd pages but that ain't an option.  If you have different needs, do the math and input the correct numbers before proceeding
    4. Click on Print Settings  to pull up a second dialog box.
    5. Select for Printer PostScript File (not your printer)  Also select for PPD your printer or Adobe PDF 9 if you have that installed.  Don't obsess on this just pick your Printer for the PPD.
    6. Select 1 copy and All Pages while in the General Tab
    7. Select the Setup Tab Here is where you put in the actual physical paper size that you are going to print your document on. Don't scale to fit.  You must do this.  If you feel the need, check out all the tabs and options but for now, you are just trying to get an output file.  You probably do want to select CENTER for page position in this same setup tab.
    8. Hit OK whcih will return you to the original dialog.  Check when you return to be sure that at the top Printer is populated with PostScript File.  Click on Print and give the thing a name and a location to save at the resulting dialog.
Breathe as you are almost home.  You have sucessfully created a file that can be called up again and again without opening InDesign. (albeit, a postscript file but not a problem)
    Now,
    1. Double click on this new file (it will have a .ps extention) or just open it in your PREVIEW (apple supplied utility)   Preview is where you accomplish the even and odd page objective.
    2. Preview will show you a short progress dialog while it rips this postscript file into a PDF.
    3. Click on PRINT
    4. Select your printer, page range, select the Paper Size (again not document size  but  the size sheet that you are printing the 2-up , imposed (booklet) document on. If not in the selection dialog, then use the custom option to create it (custom paper size) and give it a name.
    5. Click on SCALE and insert 100% in place of the weird number that it will insert for you.  You will then see your document correctly displayed in the sidebar preview window.
    6.  OK, now what you have been waiting for. Click on the box that says Preview (the active window) and select Paper Handling from the drop-down and select from Pages to Print the coveted odd or even page selection.  You can also do other things that should have been back at the InDesign print dialog but are now gone.  Explore. Enjoy.
    7.  You will have to work out your own work flow about reverse or no reverse order and how to flip, etc. But you will be working with something predictable at this point.
    8.  Since this has been ripped into a PDF , you might as well Click on the PDF button and click on save as a PDF at this point to save that postscript to PDF rip.   Also print using PREVIEW for the newly created PDF file next time as you will not have to learn a bunch of new dialogs and be frustrated all over again.
I am now back in business printing the book blocks for my handbound journals.

  • How can i print only pages which have been highlighted, from a multi page file?

How can i print only pages which have been highlighted, in a multi page file.

Ah, I see want you mean. This might not be practical for you, but if you select one instance of the highlighted text and add a [space] to the little sticky note, all of the highlighted text on that page will appear in the summary.

  • I can not print only a selected part of a page

I have reset the print.print_printer and still can't print only the selected part of a page. I highlight what I want to print and use control P to get to the printer setup. Then I click the selection button and then OK. The preview screen shows what would print but the page has blank space above what was selected. This has only started to happen since the upgrade to FF 11.0. I have tried the same operation using IE and it works fine. please, is there a fix for this??

  • How can I print ONLY the active document?

Whenever I go to File/Print the darn PSE 9 program sends all of the working files in the bin to the printer. I've searched online for 2 hours now looking for an answer.
I like to work with having several to many files in the 'bin' and prefer to only print the active file I'm currently working on without having to close the 'working files' before I can print. How can I print ONLY the active document or file in the project bin? Please help, I've upgraded from PSE 3 to PSE 9 and really like the updated features, but this one pain in the neck default is getting the best of me.

Thanks for your help, that works nicely. It is good to have control of the printer again.

  • How can I print just a part of the page and not the full page with Adobe Reader v 10.1.2?

how can I print just a part of the page and not the full page with Adobe Reader v 10.1.2? I need to print a engineering print with lot of information but information is too small in letter size and I don't have a plotter.

Two ways to print a portion of a page: zooming or using the Snapshot Tool.
    ZOOMING:
Zoom into the area you want to print.
    Click the Print icon.
Under "Pages to Print", make sure "Current view" is selected under "More options" (you may need to click "More options" to open it).
If you aren't satisfied with the preview, try clicking "Fit" under the Size button.
    SNAPSHOT
Choose Edit > Take A Snapshot.
Drag a rectangle around the area you want to print.
    Click the Print icon.
Under "Pages to Print", make sure that "Selected Graphic" is selected under "More options".
To enlarge the snapshot to fit the sheet of paper, choose "Fit" under the Size button.
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I print an odd page in a pdf with 2 page each pdf page?

I hope tou can help me. We´ve created a pdf from a book.
In each page of the pdf we´ve put two pages of the book.
    Our problem is:
if  I want to print or search a even page. I´ve just go to the search box and write the number of the page I want to go. And the pdf take me to correct number in the book. I Attached a screenshot (screenshot 1). So I look for the page number 6 and I go to the page 6 in the book (that it´s 4 of 22 in the pdf document)
But  if I try to search or print an odd page, the problem is that the pdf doesn´t take me to the correct page in the book it takes me to number in pdf document. I attached an screenshot (screenshot 2) So If I look for the page 9 it tooks me to the page 16 of the book (that is 9 of 22 in the pdf document)
I´d like that if i try to search or print any page number (even or odd) . If I use the white box I´ll be able to finde the correct page
    Thank you very much

The parent subform must be set to Flowed. Make sure each page (subform) is set to Pagination>Following Previous.

''no email support from forum threads, all responses are posted here in the forum''

The option should be visible here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Printing%20a%20web%20page#w_print-window-settings
Print range section - Lets you specify which pages of the current web page are printed:
    * Select '''All''' to print everything.
    * Select '''Pages''' and enter the range of pages you want to print. For example, selecting "from 1 to 1" prints the first page only.
    * Select '''Selection''' to print only the part the page you've highlighted.
    Does it work for you?

  • Page breaks in form - can't print only one page?

    Hi guys
This might be a really simple question - but how do I insert page breaks into my form?
I have 8 pages in my document, and it is showing me this, so there seems to be no issue until I try to print only one page, and the whole document prints out.
Is there an easy fix to this?
    Cheers
    Jess

    Hi,
how are you printing? Control+P? File > Print? or a Print button?
In any case the print command should bring up a print dialog, where you can set the pages that you want Acrobat to print. By default it is set to 'All' pages.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Help with printing static page on even pages of dynamic form

Hi folks in the OD universe!
I am relatively new to OD and I am trying like the dickens to get a form to duplex in a very specific way. I have slogged through all of the messages on duplexing and related issues, but haven't seen a solution that fits my problem.
I have an page of instructions that needs to print on the even (or odd don't really care as long as it is always there) pages of an existing dynamic PO form (with 4 subgroups - header, detail header, data, and footer).
So I made a working copy of the PO form and added the instructions page. My first thought was to try and use the instructions page as an extra footer piece, so I pointed to it from the footer on the old PO form in the At End-Of-Page part of the subform thing and then pointed the instruction page back to the headers of the PO form so it could continue on. Right now, the instructions are on page 1, so it prints the instructions, then the first page of a PO, then a bunch of instruction pages (infinite - I have to cancel the job on the printer). Making it duplex was the easy part.
So is this possible using the Subform Page Full and At End-Of-Page stuff or do I need to do some scripting to accomplish this (if so, any ideas on how to proceed). I am trying to make multi-page POs have the instructions on the front or back of each page of the PO.
Any advice on how to tackle this would be appreciated. I am going to continue my efforts and will reply to this thread once I figure something out.
    Cheers!
    Lucas

    Hi Lucas,
The information below is from the print_ag.pdf which can be found on your server in the documentation directory
    \checksurface (Duplex Mode and Surface)
    Format
    \checksurface
To check which surface of a page is currently printing, use the \checksurface command.
\checksurface detects the current print surface and causes a group event handler to activate.
Depending upon the actual surface, the event handler is one of:
A typical use for \checksurface is to force the printer to switch to a new front page when
printing in duplex mode, by conditionally inserting a blank surface on the back of the current
    page. For example:
    ^define group:SECTION \checksurface\page1\fieldPOS
    ^define group:SECTION!DuplexFront \page3
Here the group SECTION uses the \checksurface command to determine the current duplex
surface. The event handler for the !DuplexFront event activates when the current print surface
is a front page. The event handler inserts page 3 from the current template as a filler surface on
the back before moving to page 1 on the next front surface. As a result, the new page 1 will be
on a duplex front surface, regardless of whether the previous page was a front or a back
surface. The filler surface may be entirely blank, contain static text, such as “This page
intentionally left blank”, or contain fields which are filled by global definitions active at the time
\checksurface is used. It may also contain a dummy field that can trigger a !FieldNotAvail
event specific to the insertion. In any case, Intelligent Pagination commands directly
referencing fields on that page should not be depended on, because the page is only
    conditionally inserted.
For another method of performing surface specific processing, see “$duplexsurface (Duplex
Mode and Surface)” on page 281.
    Regards,
    Matt
