Can i recover some sms messages i just deleted by accident?

today i deleted some messages between me and a friend and those messages ive had for years and had information i dearly need back now. i plug my iphone into the computer every night and usually close itunes right away so idk if it syncs or not. since it has happened ive plugged the phone back in but it hasnt synced and i read around that if i restore it it comes back? idk exactly what to do though, and i am in dear need of those messages. if anyone could help me i would appreciate it . thank you.

If these messages were on your phone when you last synced and you haven't synced your phone since, they should still be contained in the backup.  Restoring your phone to the backup will revert all settings and data on the phone to those contained in this backup, restoring your messages but losing any more recent information.  If you want to do this, before connecting your phone open iTunes on your computer, go to Preferences and on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".  Now connect your phone and when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on its name and select Transfer Purchases (to import any recent purchased to your iTunes library prior to restoring from backup).  When this completes, right-click on it again and select Restore from Backup, choosing your last backup.   When this is done you can go back and re-enable automatic syncing if you prefer this.

  • I deleted a pop email account from mail.  How can I recover those sent messages without Time Machine?

I deleted a pop email account from mail.  How can I recover those sent messages without Time Machine?

    Thomas,
"Note that you were warned that this would happen and approved it.  When you delete an e-mail account in Mail, you are shown a message like the following:"
You didn't read my problem - I said I deleted a POP email account.  I always read the messages that pop up and in Mail when you delete a POP account - IT DOESN'T TELL YOU NUTHIN!  It just deletes it - which *** for me.  Fortunately, I had an iPhone and on that device I had about a 1000 messages that I could recover but on all my POP accounts I download them from the server onto my Mac so they were only on Mail (the really old ones that I wanted to keep.)  I had to move them into another directory one by one basically because when I would move 50 some of them would move and some wouldn't and I never did figure out that problem.  Basically the ones that would not move are the ones that were associated with my domain changes with GoDaddy, and there were a lot of those.  Have no idea as to why only those were resistant to moving but I can get all that data from GoDaddy anyway.
This thread is now moot seeing as how I've recovered everything I can and am going to just move on - and back up more often.  ;-)
Apple and Mail need to rewrite that program to include a WARNING MESSAGE when deleting an Account in Mail that says ALL YOUR MESSAGES ARE GOING TO DISAPPEAR NEVER TO RETURN IF YOU DELETE THIS ACCOUNT, SO YOU DANG WELL BETTER HAVE A BACK UP IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ANYTHING BEFORE PRESSING THAT MINUS SYMBOL!  ;-)

If you backed up the phone to either iCloud or iTunes before deleting the message, restore the badckup.  If it wasn't backed up, it's gone, gone, gone.

I am currently abroad in France, and I can not send any SMS messages. iMessages works fine. I have checked the setting, and message sending to SMS is activated. I have also reset my phone. Could you advise on why I can not do this please?

    Hi
It could be a case that the network you are connected to is having problems.
If you go to Settings > Carrier > Turn off Automatic > This will prompt the device to do a manual search. Once completed chose a different network and test.
Also is it a particular number it's failing to or have you tried a few?
Let me know how you get on.
    Thanks.

When I set up my Macs, there were 2 sign-up names - 1 I created and the other was "Ghost". The Apple store says that takes up 50% of my hard drive. Can I kill "Ghost"? Do I just delete it?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hello Blisshous,
It sounds like you have a user account named Ghost, that you want to delete all content from and remove from the computer. This article will help you do that named:
OS X Lion: Delete a user account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3867
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Users & Groups or click Parental Controls.
Click the lock icon to unlock it, and then type an administrator name and password.
Select the user account you want to delete, and then click Delete below the account list.
    Do one of the following:
Select “Save the home folder in a disk image” to save the folder as a disk image in /Users/Deleted Users/.
Select “Don’t change the home folder” to leave the home folder in /Users/.
Select “Delete the home folder” to remove it from the computer. If you want to prevent programs that read raw data from retrieving any files, select “Erase home folder securely.”
    Click OK.
Keep in mind, if you remove the user and delete the data, without Time Machine you will not be able to restore any data from it in the future.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

If the note was on your phone when you last backed it up to iCloud, with some effort you may be able to restore it by following Winston Churchill's post here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22600445#22600445.

  • Can iphone 3gs synchronize sms messages to a computer?

a friend of mine insisted that over 1600 sms messages in her 3gs iphone was copied by someone when she downloaded pics from her iphone to that person's computer. she said the whole transfer took less than 10 seconds, both pics and messages, and was done during one single synchronization.
i use an original iphone on a pc notebook, so i have no idea if a 3gs iphone can synchronize that fast to a macbook. frankly speaking, i don't even know of such a feature where sms messages would be downloaded automatically. can someone please enlighten me if this is possible, or if my friend was pulling my legs. thanks.

Well, pictures can be imported if they are in the camera roll to someone's computer, however SMS can only be copied with some third party software. I've never used it, however, so I couldn't tell you anything about speed. I cannot see it being done in 10 seconds, unless that was just for a picture or two, and even that would take more than 10 seconds.
