Can I safely delete the contents of Content.IE5?

I'm running MacOS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and using Bootcamp 3 (I think) so run Windows XP SP3. My Bootcamp drive is formatted in FAT32, There is a hidden folder in Windows called Content.IE5 where, as I understand it, Internet Explorer stores all of its temporary files. My folder has grown to over 700 MB, and it doesn't get any smaller when I click on the delete temporary files button in IE.
The folder itself is invisible in Windows, but I can see it when I navigate through the Bootcamp drive in Mac OS.
I found two links regarding this problem, one from Microsoft
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;301057
http://www.paessler.com/blog/2009/04/17/prtg-7/how-to-get-rid-of-huge-default-us erlocal-settingstemporary-internet-filescontentie5-folders
As the second link explains, there are severral issues that make it quite difficult to clear the contents of this directory, such as the fact that it belonds to the "default user" and the fact that it is always in use. But as a Mac user running Bootcamp, I have the ability to navigate directly to the directory while running Mac OS and delete the contents manually which otherwise is not possible when running in Windows! My question to the community is should I do it? Or rather, has anyone else attempted this, and if so, did you brake anything in Windows or did it all turn out honky dorey?
Many thanks.

Thanks. The clip in the events folder is in Apple Intermediate Codec.
A clip from the same video in the Original Movies folder is also in Apple Intermediate Codec but with larger pixel dimensions. I'm assuming this isn't H.264 as you mentioned should be there? See attached images.
The original movie is shot in 1080p AVCHD. But when I imported it into iMovie I did so at the iMovie optimised 920 x 540px as most movies I edit will only ever appear online for the moment (I do archive original HD footage from important footage to the iMovie Camera Archives for future use).

You certainly can.
Be aware that the emails you move to local storage ("on my Mac") will be the only copies that remain.

• Can i safely delete the indexedDB folder from profile? 3gb+ is alot

saving a backup of profile and discovered 3gb folder indexedDB was wondering if its safe to delete...or what it is even for.

This folder is used for use by applications to store data for offline usage.
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Web Content and User Data
You would normally have to give Firefox permission to store data this way, so you should know where it comes from.
You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page or for the current domain via the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar and click "More Information" to open "Page Info" and go to the Permissions tab.

• Can I safely delete the backup on my iPhone?

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6. I backed up my 4 to my computer and then transferred all the info from it (contacts, etc) to my 6. But the backup of the 4 is still on my iPhone 6 and since it's taking up a lot of space I'd like to delete it from the 6 but not my computer (in case I need it again). I just want to make sure that deleting it on my phone won't also "sync delete" it on my computer (I'm not totally sure how syncing works).

Syncing and backing up to iTunes are two different things:
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB - Apple Support
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
But the backup of the 4 is still on my iPhone 6 and since it's taking up a lot of space I'd like to delete it from the 6 but not my computer (in case I need it again).
Not sure what you mean delete the back up from your iphone 6

• Satellite M200 - can I safely delete partition?

I have a Satellite M200.
It came with 3 partitions on the hard drive: a 1.46GB recovery partition, a 142.51 NTFS Vista partition, and a 5.07Gb hidden partition containing goodness -knows-what.
Can I safely delete the 5.07 Gb partition?

Hi
I think this is a Canadian notebook model because I didn't see such partition on Toshiba European notebook models.
However, it seems you have found the answer for you question.
It looks like the second, hidden partition was created to store the data of second language which is available on Toshiba bilingual model notebooks which comes preinstalled with two extra partitions which hold the English and French language images.
I think you can remove this partition if you have chosen already your favorite language.
I found also this Toshiba FAQ:

• Can i safely delete storage from 4S that is currently usin my icloud storage on my iphone 6?

I recently purchased the iphone 6. I cannot complete an icloud backup due to limited storage space. I can see 2.7 GB in manage storage from my 4S, can I safely delete the storage from my old 4S and not lose anything currently on my iphone6?

Hi GGdawn,
Deleting backups of your iPhone 4s will not affect anything on your iPhone 6. See this article on managing iCloud backups -
Manage your iCloud storage
In particular you may want to archive any important data in those backups. See this article -
Archive or make copies of your iCloud data
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I a got a new phone and backed all of my stuff on to the new one can I now delete the old phone backups off I cloud without deleting the content from my phone?

Yes, absolutely, but before you do, give yourself three or four days to verify that you have everything on the new phone. You also probably will not be able to delete old backup for three days anyway, I have heard that Apple places server in three days lock out after restore from backup initially started.

heidie22, dj_paige has a very good point there. I would not through away the NEF files; I would archive them to a external drive.
By the way, I am assuming that converting RAW files to DNG is a decision you have made and not an accident.

• What files can be safely deleted?

I love my 400 MHz TiBook but its 10 GB hard drive is filling up. I have approx. 1.5 GB of free space left. What files that can be safely deleted? Can I delete extraneous printer files, modem files, packages, etc? I use MacJanitor to clean out caches and I don't have any music or photo files that might be causing the bloat. Also, before I delete anything I will back my hard drive up to a FW drive with SuperDuper.

Hi, Fred. You're wise to be thinking about how little free space you have left now, before the operation of your Powerbook is seriously impaired. But rather than just nibble away at the contents of your drive, which will only buy you a small amount of time before you're back where you started, you should be thinking about replacing your tiny 10GB hard drive with a larger one. You could easily get a 60GB drive for $50 plus the cost of shipping, and installing a drive in a Tibook is very simple — a 20-minute job at the outside. Then you'd just start up from the external FireWire drive on which you've cloned your 10GB drive, and use SuperDuper to clone its contents onto the new drive. The whole drive swap and data transfer, including the original cloning, could probably be accomplished in less than two hours. Then you wouldn't have to worry about hard drive space for a long time to come.
For expert guidance on what you can do in the short term to regain disk space, see this.

• Which files can I safely delete in my Pictures Folder/ iPhoto Library

Hello
Thanks in advance for any advice on the following. I am trying to free up some space on my Macbook Pro hard drive. In the Pictures/ iPhoto Library folder, I seem to have a lot of duplicates. At this folder level, I have series of sub folders with years 2002-2006 listed, and there is also a folder titled data, which also has subfolders 2002-2006. Can I safely delete one set of folders without losing my pictures?
Thank you
Jonathan

Johnathan:
In a word, NONE. Those are all necessary item for the operation of the library. Those files in the Originals folder are obviously the originals. Those in the Data folder are the thumbnails iPhoto uses to display in the main library window. The Modified files are those that you've editied, rotated, etc. To do any moving, renaming or editing of files directly from the folder is tantamount to committing the cardinal sin of iPhoto: Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder.
What with the low cost of external FW HDs, they are a very cost effective way to protect and preserve important files. As you may know it's recommended to have a minimum of 10G free space for optimum performance of the system and applications. More if possible. You can use Monolingual to remove any language module you don't need (be sure not to select English or American English and DO NOT run any of the Architecture items). I saved nearly 900MB the first time I ran it.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
