Can I set a static frame (jpg or png) image as a poster image when embedding flash video into a dreamweaver page?

hello everybody - my subject line pretty much says it all...
i'm looking to have my users see a single static frame (a
poster image) that they can then click on to start playing a video.
how do i set this in either flash or dreamweaver?
anybody have any info?

Will the video appear in place of the image clicked on? Or
will it be in a
separate window?

can I set up a separate mailbox for each person that emails me so when they send me an email it will go into their mailbox. I have been using Eudora for 20 years and one of the things I really liked about it is that each person could have their own mailbox instead of coming into the general Inbox.

Thunderbird doesn't come with preloaded filters, so I guess yours came as a result of importing from Eudora. The surprising thing about that is that Thunderbird is quite prompt to disable filters if there are changes such as account or folder names, so one wouldn't necessarily expect imported filters to "just work" and be activated by default.
If you open a message, right-click the sender's address and choose "create filter from" I think you'll find it's actually less complicated than that convoluted method you used in Eudora. And the presence of previously defined filters will be irrelevant since you'll be creating your own new filter.
Thunderbird's main weakness is that you must create the folder before setting up a filter to move messages into it; it doesn't let you define new folders on the fly.
There is a QuickFilters add-on that provides a drag and drop technique, but personally I don't think the manual method is so difficult as to justify the drag and drop approach.

Why can't I view embedded flash videos on my MacBook Pro?

I can view videos on Youtube and embedded videos on some sites, but when I try to view embedded Flash videos on sites like CNN.com and NBA.com, I just get a black rectangle and nothing loads. I've tried this on all browsers. BTW, I also cannot open up tinted ads that come up in Google searches. I have the latest version of Flash, and I've deleted browsing data and settings and have checked "Allow sites to save info." I've disabled pop-up window blocker. I have no ad blocking software. I've installed the latest Flip4Mac plugin. I have even set up a new user account and tried these sites with that account to see if the problem goes away (it didn't).
I have a 12 inch 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro with OS 10.8.3 installed (though the problem started when I still had Snow Leopard). I have all the latest browsers and , as I've said above, the latest Flash. I've tried both Java 7 and Java 6. I should also point out that I can access these sites without problem with my office Macbook Pro, which is a 15 inch Core 5, loaded with the same software I have on my problem 12 inch notebook.
Any suggestions?

You have JavaScript enabled in all the browsers, yes? Have you tried launch the browsers in Safe Mode?

Not aware of a 12-inch Intel MBP. Anyway, could you possibly have an old version of flash player on your computer too. Look in the In the Internet Plug-ins folder to be sure you have only one flash player plugin. Path is HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin
Also try searching your hard disk for flash.

Why can't I see still images in the playback monitor when editing a video? I have rendered the images in the project. I checked my system to make sure it meets all the requirements for the software, no problem there. When I "share" the project and save it as an MPEG, the images show up in WMP just fine. But I need to be able to see what I'm doing to the stills while I am editing. Help!

How can I set double-click of JPGs to open in Photoshop instead of Camera Raw?

Like the title of this topic says, how can I set up Bridge so that double-clicking a JPG opens it directly in Photoshop, instead of going through the intermediary Camera Raw dialog box first?
And yes, I do have my File Type Associations for all JPGs set to open in Photoshop.
I also have Camera Raw preferences set to NOT "always open JPEG files with settings using Camera Raw".
I'm using Bridge 2.1.1.9 and Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.2 on Intel.

First double check if you have the options in the prefs indeed unchecked.
If so restart Bridge holding down option and choose the refresh preferences option, reset the prefs again to your wishes and restart Bridge.

Can't set ipv6 static address

As the topic states, I can not setup a static IP to save my life. I've enabled ipv6, I have a hostname6.ce1 I put the hostname (madrid-ipv6) in the hostname6.ce1 file but it will not stay set.
I've tried the addif command, and it creates a logical interface, but I can't ping out with the address that is set.
I'm sure I am missing something, and I am new to Solaris. I've got ipv6 static addresses setup in linux with no problems. It's just Solaris 10 that is kicking my butt.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be in your debt.

edit: To darren: I've tried that as well. When the system boots, it gives me the error: "Failed to assign ipv6 address to ce1" or something similar to that.

I've got to be missing something. This is all on a private switch that doesn't need to connect to the net. I need to connect an iscsi VTL to this sun system but the first step is to be able to ping the damn thing. I've checked the networking to make sure everything is connected. I can ping the VTL using IPV4, but not IPV6. I've checked on a linux system and it can ping the VTL over IPV6 so I know it is setup properly. This is just driving me nuts.

When converting a video into GIF, is there a way to automatically trim frames?

I'm trying to reduce the size of my GIFs but it's very time-consuming to delete the frames manually.
Is there a way so for example you can"trim 'x' number of frame(s) every 'x' frame(s)"?

Can't set UIView's frame origin?

Hi, I'm stumped by something that didn't use to give me a compile error, and now for some reason I get "invalid lvalue in assignment", which should mean the lvalue is read-only. Surprising:
theView.frame.origin = CGPointMake(10,10);
It doesn't make any sense, and the docs specifically state you can change the origin of a frame. Do I need to give theView some other attribute that allows it to be moved?

Fixed the problem: I had to create a new CGRect from the existing frame, change the CGRect's origin value and then set the frame to it.

Can't set up static IP with systemd: "Dependency failed for"

I bootstrapped Arch Linux into a free partition from an Ubuntu Server installation. It boots fine, but I can't seem to get the network working.
My router is weird in that the last number of the IP address has to be over 200 (so 192.168.1.[must be over 200]), so dhcpcd won't really work for me and I need to set up a static IP.
To do this, I decided to edit the systemd static IP template from this wiki page (leaving "Wireless" in the name but removing the actual wireless line, as I'm using a wired connection): <https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … IP_address>

However, when I run "systemctl start newnetwork [what I named the service]", I still can't ping either IP addresses or domain names. When I run "systemctl status newnetwork", I get "Dependency failed for Wireless Static IP Connectivity" and it says that the service is not running.
I have all of base and base-devel installed, so what could be the problem? It seems like the only other people who have encountered that systemd error message have had significantly different problems.

Welcome to the forums.
You can actually use dhcpcd to assign a static address too with the "-S" option.
My first guess for your error would be that the interface is not "eth0" (though the error message seems odd for that, yes).
Whats the output when you bring the connection up manually (description right above the wiki .service file you link)?

Can I set up a form so that there is text in the fields when the user opens the file?

My client is interested in supplying schedules of activities in a PDF, and would like it so that a person can use what's in the document, or replace their own information in place of what's supplied.
I've set up forms for filling in blanks, but I've not seen if some text can be left in the fields to start with. For example, leaving a "your name" text line in a field where the user clicks on that phrase and it disappears (like you see in a number of forms on web pages).
Is this possible with Acrobat? If not, we'll probably have to go to a Word based solution, but I'd get better design if I do it in InDesign and add this functionality to a PDF.

Thanks for keeping track of the discussion. I appreciate that you've taken the time to help me. My clients love the fact they can create these curriculum schedules with editable blocks that will allow the original info to return if the block is emptied. Now they'd like book titles italicized.
I downloaded the Javascript reference PDF and found the "richValue" information, but I'm not grasping the concept of how to add it to my page. I'm not Javascript-literate, so I'm more inclined to add HTML tags or something like
and to make something italic.
Here is the example they gave:

MediaElement can not set Position when file reaches NaturalDuration

I have created a mediaplayer in which I added a button to go one frame forward.
I'm getting the total duration after the media is opened with
mediaPlayer.NaturalDuration.TimeSpan
In this case the value is {00:02:27.7720000}
Every time I click on the button I do

After this, I get the position with

If I let it play, it plays until total duration is reached. Same goes for fast forward.
But if I go frame by frame, I can't get beyond {00:02:26.7720000}
It seems like I can't set the position once it reaches {00:02:26.7720000}.
Also, when I rewind one frame from total duration, it skips to {00:02:26.7720000}.
I tested with another file and that one also has a one second difference in total duration and position.

If I get the position right after I set it, than I do get the right position.
But if I get the position later it will be set to {00:02:26.7720000}, even if I set the position manually to a value between {00:02:26.7720000} and {00:02:27.7720000}, it will jump back to {00:02:26.7720000}

That was one of the things I found too.
But that doesn't explain why it does get the right position (and plays to the end) when playing normally or in fast forward.
The only difference is that I get the current position in a DispatchTimer when playing normal or in fast forward.
