Can I upgrade from Lion OS X 10.7.5 to Mavericks 10.9.4?

Can I upgrade from Lion OS X 10.7.5 to Mavericks 10.9.4?

Yes, if your Mac is compatible; the Mac App Store will check this before allowing the upgrade to be downloaded.

  • How can I upgrade from Lion OS X to Mountain Lion OS X

Hi my question is "How can I upgrade from Lion OS X to Mountain Lion OS X?"
I don't want to lose any data from my current Lion OS X, at the same time I don't have enough external HDD to backup. I tried to do the same was as http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/ says but I didn't get Mountain Lion OS X as an option for update.
    Pleade advice,
    Mustafa

Well, right.  In 99.99% of cases you shouldn't lose any data.
But if something goes wrong, well, if you don't have a backup you're SOL.
You truly don't have ANY drive that you're using for Time Machine?
FYI: It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN, your hard drive will fail.  It will eventually happen, so you should have a backup, unless you don't have any data you care about.

  • Can't upgrade from Lion 10.7.4 to 10.7.5.

I keep trying unsuccessfully to upgraded from Lion 10.7.4 to 10.7.5.  I keep getting an error that says to power down and restart after the upgrade.  Is there a work around for this?  I'm worried that my security updates aren't being done.  I also cannot upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion either.  I have successfully restored everything from time machine backup several times.  Just can't update.  My MBP is a late 2008 5,1.  In an effort not to flood this forum, my specs are at http://pastebin.com/kCdgnG5T.
    Thanks,
    tsairox

I've tried the MacOSXCombo update with pressing the Option key upon restarting with no success before my first post here (then restored the whole system), but not the Shift key you're speaking of.  Do you feel this will make a big difference?
    Thanks,

  • Want to upgrade from Lion (Mac OS X 10,7) to Maverick (Mac OS X 10.9) with Boot Camp already installed on my hard drive?

Just get this iMac 27" Core i5 2,7GHz with a splitted Hard Drive.
Work with Lion  and Window 7 and wish to rise up my hard drive section for
Mac to 10,9.5  without touching the Windows partition? Is it possible ?

Yes. Back up both systems and upgrade Mac OS X normally; you probably won't need to use the backup immediately.
Note that unless you downloaded the full Mavericks installer before Yosemite came out, you won't be able to get it.

  • Can I upgrade from iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5 to iPhoto '11 on my Macbook Pro (10.6.8) without upgrading to Lion? or iPhoto '09...

Can I upgrade from iPhot '08 (ver 7.1.5) to iPhoto '11 on my Macbook Pro (OS 10.6.8) without upgrading to Lion or iPhoto '09?

You should only get that message if you are attempting to install the same version of iPhoto that is already on your computer.
Should you upgrade your current version of '08 (7.1.5) to anything higher, including '11 (9.2.1), it will upgrade your current library with all your photos and not create an additional application or library.

  • How can I upgrade to Lion again from Snow Leopard?

My Macbook Pro (Late 2011), was shipped with OSX Lion but due to some software compatibility issues, I downgraded my OS to Snow Leopard, but now that software is fully compatible with OSX Lion and Mountain Lion, how can I upgrade to Lion again?

    Hi Viaixtapa, well long story...
I phoned the number above and purchased a license.  The process worked fine, the Apple Tech took my particulars, I received an email right away acknowelging my purchase and one from the Tech giving me his details so that I could come back to him if I needed help.  But when I went to download Lion it would not download because I do not have the requirements to load it, mine is an Intel Core Duo instead of an Intel 2 Duo or later.
The clerk in the Apple store in Vancouver checked the details of my machine and told me I could load it if I upgraded the memory.  But apparently that was incorrect.  The Tech I who sold me Lion checked too and said no, my iMac is not capable of supporting Lion.  So a plus and minus answer.  I did get Lion, but was unable to load it, yours is a 2008 model so you should have no trouble.  Why not try the number or the international website above from Steve, nothing ventured, nothing gained.  I will just keep saving my pennies toward a new iMac!!

  • Can I upgrade to Lion from OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard)?  Do I need to install Snow Leopard first?  If so, Which version?

Can I upgrade to Lion from OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard)?  Do I need to install Snow Leopard first?  If so, Which version?

There are only two versions of Snow Leopard, the ordinary one and the server edition.  Most people have no need of the server edition.  Any Snow Leopard retail disc, no matter how old, even 10.6.0, can be updated to 10.6.8, so the version is pretty much irrelevant.  You need to make sure your hardware is up to scratch for Lion though - you have to have an Intel processor, Core 2 Duo or better - NOT Core Duo.

  • How can I upgrade from MAC OS 10.4.11 TO LION

How can I upgrade from MAC OS 10.4.11 to Lion? My processor is only Intel Core Duo.

    No core duos sorry.
OS X Lion, will only on 64 bit Intel processor Mac's.
The following Mac's that have 32 bit Intel “Yonah” processors that won't run OS X Lion.
    iMac 4,1 Early (Jan-Sept) 2006 17"
    iMac 4,1 Early (Jan-Sept) 2006 20"
    iMac 4,2 Mid (July-Sept) 2006 17"
    Mac Mini 1,1 (Feb-Sept) Early 2006
    Mac Mini 1,1 (Sept-Aug) Late 2006
    MacBook 1,1 13" (May-Nov 2006)
    MacBook Pro 1,1 15" A1150 (Jan-May 2006)
    MacBook Pro 1,2 17" A1151 (Aprl-Oct 2006)
    MacBook Pro 1,1 15" A1175 (May-Oct 2006)
There is a difference between “Intel Core Duo” and “Intel Core 2 Duo” processors.

  • Can I upgrade from snow leopard 10.6.8 to mountain lion? Not sure how old my MacBook is. How can I find that information?

Can I upgrade from snow leopard 10.6.8 to mountain lion on my MacBook?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and compare the model identifier with MacBook5,1, which is the earliest MacBook that can run Mountain Lion and newer.
A MacBook older than that which has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM can run Lion 10.7, which is available by clicking here. Neither Mountain Lion nor Lion support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004.

  • Can I upgrade from Photoshop CS2 to CS5 after installing Lion?

Can I upgrade from Photoshop CS2 to CS5 after installing Lion?   Or should I have done it before installing Lion?

I think you are missing my point.
For the last many editions of the creative suite they have each been completely independent. There is no "going over a previous version. Each version stands on its own and is a clean install — as long as you haven't installed that specific version before.
And "obsolete" is a pretty relative term. With products as complex as the creative suite there are often features (or even whole applications) that change between versions. Many people I know keep earlier versions around, just for that very reason.

How can I upgrade from OS X Snow Leopard to OS X Lion?

Well Mt Lion is the latest, but if your machine can't do 10.8, then call Apple via phone and order 10.7
However you really need to do your homework first, as a lot of software and drivers could stop in 10.7, no Rosetta like in 10.6, could cost you plenty.

  • Can't upgrade from mountin lion to yasimite

can't upgrade from mountin lion to Yosemite ?

    Have you tried:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion or Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Now, re-run the Yosemite installer application or re-download it if you don't have it yet. If you are getting server errors, then you will need to check your internet connection and service or wait to try another time.

  • HT1338 Can I upgrade from Tiger (10.4) to Lion (10.7)

Can I upgrade from Tiger (10.4) to Lion (10.7) without purchasing and installing Leopard (10.5) and Snow Leopard (10.6)?
The spects on this MacBook5,1 is MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008)

    You can't.
In order to get Lion you must be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8
To get there you must purchase the Snow Leopard install DVD from Apple
Then update to 10.6.8 which will give you the App Store to purchase Lion
Since Lion is no longer available on the App Store, you will have to call Apple and purchase a code to download it from the App Store
