Can i upgrade from Logic PRO 7 to Logic express 9 (upgrade version)?

Hello
I was about to upgrade from Logic Pro 7 to Logic Studio 9 when i noticed that all the fetures i need are actually now in cheaper Logic Express 9.
So would it be possible to upgrade to Logic Express 9 from Logic Pro 7? or will it only upgrade from older versions of Logic Express?
Many thanks
Tom

Hi,
guess that's not possible. But i strongly recommend upgrading your Logic Pro 7 to Logic Studio. It's not that much more money, but i bet once you have the new Express version, you'll desperately miss some of the features you only have with Logic Pro/Studio.
I would recommend to call apple support or ask a dealer to find the correct upgrade version.

  • How do I upgrade to Logic Pro from Logic Express?

When I decided to dump ProTools and go with Logic, it was easy because Express was pretty cheap and there was always an upgrade path to Logic Studio. Now it's version 9 and I don't see an option to upgrade to Logic Pro 9 from Logic Express 9. Can you guys help me out here?

Based on the replies in the Logic Express forums, it looks like I'll just have to suck it up until Logic 10 comes out.
I think I would feel totally hosed if it weren't for the fact that I recently got Komplete 8 Ultimate, so I don't really care for the Logic synths.

  • Logic Pro Upgrade from Logic Express 8 + Lion. Please help

I have bought a new mac with lion operating system after my previous mac was damaged beyond repair, however i am running a logic pro 9 upgrade from logic express 8. I have been told that logic 8 doesnt work on lion, but i need to install it before i can install my upgrade to logic 9. Can someone help??

I believe you just need the serial and not necassirly the installation of 8 on your system.

  • The synth pad sound Warm Pad has changed after upgrading from Logic Express 7 to Logic Studio

    Hello!
I have composed a lot of songs over the years using Logic Express 7, and my favourite synth pad sound there was a sound called Warm Pad (from the EXS24 Sampler).
A half a year ago I upgraded to Logic Studio, mainly because I needed WaveBurner. Happily, all my songs sounded exactly the same after the upgrade, except from 1 sound: The synth pad sound Warm Pad. It still got the same name and location, but the sound was replaced with a very sharp and much more distinct sound (not warm at all, in my ears at least).
I have tried to replace it with different synth pad sounds from the EXS24 Sampler, and the one I find to come most close to the old Warm Pad from Logic Express, is a synth pad sound called Pad 1. Still, I don’t think it sound exactly the same.
So, in order to finish all my songs and make an album, I ask you for help:
    1. Do you know how I can get EXACTLY the same sound as the old Warm Pad Logic Express, with my new Logic Studio?
    2. Have you experienced the same with sounds, after upgrading from one Logic version to a newer one? And what have you done to find back to the old sounds?
I will be VERY thankful for help, because I am not a genius in the mysterious (but yet exiting) world of synthesizer synthesis.
    Best regards,

I have the boxed version of logic studio.
When you install, if you pick the "ad hoc" installation you can add the logic7 patches to your existing patches.
I think running installation again you should be able to install just that.

  • How can i upgrade version from 10.6.8 to 10.9.4

How can i upgrade version from 10.6.8 to 10.9.4?

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be very prudent if you to backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected Mac formatted hard drive. Then use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR use a data cloning app to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
    Next,
If you run any older Mac software from the earlier PowerPC Macs, then none of this software will work with the newer OS X versions (10.7 and onward). OS X Snow Leopard had a magical and invisible PowerPC emulation application, called Rosetta, that worked seamlessly in the background that still allowed older PowerPC coded software to still operate in a Intel CPU Mac.
The use of Rosetta ended with OS X Snow Leopard as the Rosetta application was licensed to Apple from a company which got bought out, I believe by Micrsoft and Appe  could no longer secure their rights to continue to use Rosetta in later versions of OS X.
So, you would need to check to see if you have software on your Mac that maybe older than, say, 2006 or older.
Also, check for app compatibilty  here.
    http://roaringapps.com/
If you have any commercial antivirus installed and/or hard drive cleaning apps installed on your Mac, like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, TuneUoMyMac, MacCleanse, etc. now would be a good time to completely uninstall this apps by doing a Google search to learn how to properly uninstall these types of apps.
These types of apps will only cause your Mac issues later after the install of the new OS X version and you will have to completely uninstall these types of apps later.
Once you have determined all of this, you should be able to find the latest version of OS X Mavericks by clicking on the Mac App Store icon in the OS X Dock and then login to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID and password.
You can then begin the download and installation process of installing OS X 10.9 Mavericks from the Mac App Store.

  • Upgrading from Logic Express 7.0 to 7.1 doesn't work

When I try to upgrade from Logic Express 7.0.1 to LE 7.1 I get an error message saying the installed version is a later version than the upgrade I'm trying to apply.
I have upgraded from OS X.3.6 to X.4.0 since installing LE 7.0.1.
Any clues about what's going on with this time-warp problem?

This is exactly the same problem I have had, despite down loading several times (just in case), and even using a different machine (again, just in case). Needless to say, the query I posted on the Apple Logic help site has not been responded to!
Fortunately, Logic Express still works but it would be nice to be running the latest (functioning) version

  • Master volume adjustments aren't translating when i bounce projects from Logic Express, any tips?

    hi folks!
whenever i bounce a track from Logic Express it's always significantly quieter than any other aiff, mp3 or wave file i have, including those that i have bounced from garageband. Even if i crank the 'master' volume in the mixing window, it sounds loud in Logic, but  the bounced file is a big 'wanh wanh' and has absolutely no change in volume.
i must be doing something stupid.
is there another place i can adjust the master volume that the bounce will read?
does anyone else have this problem?
    i'm pulling out my hair.
any suggestions would be very welcome!
    thank you!

    Hi,
first of all: The "Master" Fader is for trimming your mix to your monitors only. The bounce will be taken from the "stereo output" channel, so look there for the correct volume.
Now for the loudness issue: Garageband has kind of a built in foolproof bouncing. Normally, you would have to adjust not only volume to be an loud as you wish, but you have to insert some plugins into the stereo output channel to ensure that the signal doesn't get any louder than 0db, because this will produce clipping and with raising volume, distort the sound. But:
You can raise the volume if you insert the LIMITER plugin as very last plugin into the stereo output channel. Make sure it is the last plugin so there are no changes to loudness after it, not even an eq!
Any change of loudness before the limiter will be limited (hence the name) to a maximum of 0db by default (you can change the value - i use -0.1 db just to be sure.) while the softer parts of the music are being raised in loudness. If you listen to it, you'll notice the whole song is louder without distorting. Of course, if you overdo it, you'll hear the squished dynamics. Experiment!
Garageband seems to have a built in preset to perform these tasks fairly well. In Logic, you have the freedom of using or not using these settings and to customize them, which is quite normal for a pro tool.

  • Lost bfd/plug ins from Logic Express

this is potentially a stupid question..
I seem to have lost the instrument plugins from Logic Express.
Recently installed LE 7.2 and originally the instrument plugins were there and working.
However I since installed fxpansion BFD and somehow can not see either that or the logic instruments.
I have opened and checked the AU manager and rescanned bfd.
BFD works as a standalone app.
Library/audio/components folder seems to have the au plugins.
The signal processers are all there in the channel insert but not the instruments or the fxpansion application.
    any ideas anyone ?

I am thinking this is a Logic specific problem now.
I cannot see the logic instruments in the channel inserts either, although the effects and signal processors are there.
where should the EFM 1, ES m etc folders be on the drive?
asuming they are in the right place what settings could affect their showing up in the insert menu??

I have just bought a 2011 iMac (2.5 ghz, 4gb) and logic express 9, and when i installed logic and tried to run it i had a message saying 'you can't use this version of the application logic express with this version of Mac OS X. How do i sort this out!? It is very frustrating as the main reason i have bought  a mac is to use logic! Any help would be great as i am a complete novice when it comes to Macs!

You're probably on OS X Lion?
I had the same problem as you. I used Software Update to update Logic Express to the latest version, and then it ran without any problems.

  • Can you access Sountrack Pro Plugins from Logic Express?

I know that Express ships with fewer plugins and presets and channel strips, etc than Pro does. But many of the plugins are available in STP. Is there any way to access them in Logic or are they hidden to prevent their being used with other programs?

Unfortunately, you can't use STP plugins in Logic Express.

  • From Logic Express to Logic Pro

Hello, I recently bought a new MAC and Logic Pro. I used to work with Logic Express 8.
Now, when I open an old projet (done with Express 8) with Logic Pro, some sounds aren't found. I have done all my music with the sounds included in the Express mode.
I have compared (in the application support foulder) both sound banks, and the Pro one in smaller than the Express one.
I think this comes from the fact that I haven't properly dowloaded or installed Logic Pro. I think time was an issu at that moment.
Now how can I restart the dowloading process of the sound bank so my express projets with be opened int the Pro without any complications regarding sounds that are not found ?
    (sorry for the english)
    Thank you

In Logic pro.. did you download the additional content via the Logic Pro menu bar item?
    Logic Pro/Download Additional Content
If that is what you are talking about when you say you didn't let it finish installing, just click on the menu item and reselect the content that is missing and download... It would seem you did finish downloading themmain Logic Pro app otherwise it probably wouldn't even start.
Either way, I would recommend you try the Additional Content stuff..

  • How can I go from Premiere Pro CS5 to After Effects CS6? (Problem)

    Hi,
I am trying to send my clip from Premiere Pro CS5 to After Effects CS6, but when I right click on the clip, I can't even select the option to send it to After Effects. I can see the option to send it to After Effects, but I just cant select it. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    -Billy

You can do what you want... only going the other way!
You can import a CS5 Premiere Project (in its entirety
or a selected sequence) into CS6 Ae.
    In CS6 Ae:
    File>Import>Adobe Premiere Pro Project...
Navigate to your CS5 Premiere project, double-click
and select 'All Sequences', or your preferred sequence.
As Jim points out, Dynamic Linking will only work
between matching versions of Pr and Ae.

  • Trying to upgrade from Logic Express 7 to 8 and it won't do it!

I've had a copy of Logic Express 7 for a couple of years now but it was a "Not For Resale" version.
Will that interfere with my upgrade to version 8?

What I probably should have said was that I have been running a "Not For Resale" version of Logic Express 7.1.1 for a while now. I tried to upgrade to the new Logic Express 8.0 but it won't allow because the serial number that came with the "NFS" version is apparently not valid.
Do I need to go back to the original "Big Box" install and use that serial number or should I just re-install everything from the "Big Box"?
