Can I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended on my brand new iMac? I had PS on my old Mac using the student licensing.

About four years ago, I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended while I was in undergrad. I downloaded it to my Mac. Since then, I've purchased a brand new iMac. Can I use this same software? I know it's been four years so the software is very updated, AND my new iMac does NOT have a cd drive. This may all be in vain. I'm just clueless! Thanks!

I can't install Adobe Photoshop CS4 extended at all

I downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended (Trial Version) from the Adobe.com website through Akamai downloader. Well, i tried to install it clicking on the set up, but it started to install and a few minutes later stopped and displayed a error message. The message, without error code identifications, just informed that there was an error during the instalation and Adobe bridge and another one could not be installed.
I tried again and it started, but when it was almost finishing another message appeared warning that "there was an error during the instalation(again no code error identification) and that Photoshop could not be installed.
I follow some tips like shutting down the firewall, AV, but it didn't work. I used the system restoring so that i could completely clean up remaining files and tried to reinstall it, but again nothing.
Has anybody any idea?

I decided to format the computer again. Perhaps, some problem during the system instalation may have caused this problem. After that, i'll try to install it and see what's gonna happen. I've decided to do it because If it is caused by an instalation error of the main system, it may also cause hassles when using other softwares. I would think that Adobe would have a list of authorized re-sellers. If not, then contact their International Sales Dept., and inquire. That should get you a list.

Deploying Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended over Network - issue

Hi all,
I'm hoping anyone can help me with this issue that has plagued me for a few weeks! First of all, here's the details I have:
* Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended - downloaded media from Adobe website
* Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit - again, downloaded from Adobe website
* Installing to Windows XP with SP3
I ran Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit and set it up including our Volume Licensing key and it output some files including the XML files. I double clicked the AdobeUberInstaller.exe file and it got installed without any issue.
However, when I ran it as silent install via our SMS, it always get stuck at Adobe AIR install with the install log from
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0 09-02-2009.log
with this at the end of the log file:

I have left it more than hour. I also have left it all day, the log file is always full of it. I even "told" Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit not to install Adobe AIR and it still tries to install it anyway. I checked the AdobeUberInstaller.xml file and it has <Action>donotinstall</Action> marked for Adobe AIR. So I'm not even sure why it's trying to install it.
This happens on a PC that has Adobe AIR installed. I tried on another PC where it doesn't have Adobe AIR installed and I still get the same thing.
I'm running out of ideas how to get this to work and this is why I'm here to seek further help from you... help?
Has anyone seen this issue before and if so, what was the fix to get it to work?

Hi all,
I received this e-mail from Adobe, so I thought I'd share this with you all for future ref.
Air needs to contact Adobe to get a certificate.   I would recommend not installing this as part of the suite and push out seperately. At any rate, if you AIR remotely, you will need to set the proxy to allow for the certification process. The other option might to create a snapshot of Air with the certificate already in place.

Can't Activate ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4 UPG

I have been using Photoshop ever since version 7 (having switched over from Corel's software, used previously for about 10 years) and had success with it.
I upgraded to ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE when it became available through the Adobe upgrade option and used that with equal pleasure.
In 2010 I upgraded to ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4, again by means of an upgrade version with no trouble.
I have switched to a newer, faster computer last week, but I have been unable to re-install my Photoshop CS4 on my new computer because I am not able to activate the program.
When I tried to install the program it refused to activate based on the serial number of my Creative Suite, stating that it was not a valid serial number for this product.
I have successfully installed this product in the past, more than once, using that same CS serial number with no problem arising until now.
I am requesting your assistance to get back to being able to use ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4, which after all I did purchase in good faith.
I am now retired and living on a fixed income which does not allow me the flexibility to purchase replacement software indiscriminately and I really need your help to solve this problem.
Please advise me of a solution or a workaround so that I can still use my software.

it's not clear in your post, but it appears you may own a stand-alone ps version (cs4) and some creative suite version.
if your ps cs4 is part of a suite, you need to use the suite installation files and suite serial number. if your ps cs4 is a stand-alone, you need to use the stand-alone ps cs4 installation files and stand-alone serial number.

Setting the Bleed in Adobe Photoshop Cs4 Extended

I have been to the page in support where it points to the window that pops up after you click the print button. I do not see anything on that window that has anything to do with a bleed. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Since I found the answer to my question from a friend and not here I figured posting the answer might be of use to someone who is having the same trouble finding it as me. For my current version Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended I found the place to add a bleed in the tab Image>Canvas Size.

I had just complete the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended Version 11.0 . I wanted to renew the subscription, however whenever i launch the program, i immediately get a box saying your "licensing for this product has expire." Is there anyway i can renew?

Im not sure if u get wat my problem really is, it seems that theres some corrupted files or something causing a malfunction in the software. The program either pop out a terms and condition, and whenever i click agree nothing happens or the error message i had state earlier, i ran the CCleaner and it seems to have resolve everything. I've heard that it will also cancel your current contract. That isn't such a huge deal unless your current contract is an unlimited one--you can never get it back.
Does anyone know for sure? I've asked AT&T and received a "Yes it will cancel your current contract." and "No, it is a new contract--you keep your old contract if you wish." I suspect it is the former but it would be good to know for sure before ordering the service.

I just bought adobe photoshop cs4 extended from a large retail computer store.I had the trial version of photoshop cs4 extended.I uninstalled the trial version and installed from dvd.I got a Invalid serial number error.I am sure there was a software configuration problem .The reason ,the disk needs to verfy that you have the original disk,If that happens ,After installation ,Just delete this file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache\cache.db This is the location where it installed the serial . After deleteing it will create a new cache.db file and store the serial there that goes with that disk . When you open PS cs4 it will ask to enter serial again.Just enter the serial again that came with box ..I guess this would work also with adobe photoshop cs4

It depends what you need to upgrade to. You probably cannot upgrade CS4 to a newer Creative Suite because it is most often no longer in the upgrade path. Usually CS5 is the minimum in the path, and the only upgrade that you could get is for CS6 since Adobe does not sell older versions.
If you would like to join the Creative Cloud then you should be able to upgrade to the special introductory plan they have for Creative Suite owners.

Adobe Photoshop LE is too old. I do not think it will work in compatability mode. It was made circa 1998 before XP. It is time to pony up for new software. Adobe Photoshop Elements is inexpensive and provides a world of capabilities undreamt in 1998.

I have been trying to get Adobe's help for over a month now. I've been on the phone twice to them, opened up three seperate cases and still arrived at no solution. I was bought Photoshop CS4 Extended awhile ago and use it for my studies (I'm an art student). Two months ago my harddrive on my computer failed and I had to have a new laptop. I went to reinstall Photoshop and "Licensing for this product has expired" comes up. I've uninstalled, inreinstalled many times and used Microsoft Fix It Programme for uninstalling to make sure all the files are gone.
Surfing the forums I learned that there should be a folder with back up and Adobe PCD but I don't have that folder at all. The serial number I use is my original serial number that I know works and adobe have even said it's a technical error. What do I do? College starts again in two weeks and I don't have the programme I use for it!
