Can I use ProRes on a - already existing - projet?

Hi everyone,
I've bought FCS2, and so, I have FCP6.
I've currently an existing project in FCP (it come from FCP 5.1.4, and FCP 6 actualized it).
I would like to know if I can convert my project data (my DV stored one my hard drive) into ProRes (DV PAL 48kHz) or if I need to create a new project to use ProRes.
I'm especially interested in ProRes, because I'm run FCP6 on a laptop, and ProRes permit me to use less ressources when I work.
Can I set ProRes (PAL) for all my projects even if some projects didn't have been imported into ProRes. Will FCP 6 annoy me?

There's some basic FCP knowledge needed here. Search / browse the manual for the parts where "clip" and "sequence" are defined and explained.
Your clips are DV. You can drag them from anywhere - another sequence, the browser, whatever.
The sequence is the timeline. Its output format is defined separately from those of the clips. If the clips don't match the sequence they are translated on RT playback, rendering, and output.
If you were to "capture DV media directly to ProRes", then you will have recompressed it for no good reason - before you even start editing.
On your last question: it has nothing to do with tape. It has to do with the compression. DV is a VERY lossy codec, thus the bit about going through DV twice being a hosing.
If you send your stuff back to DV you are for the most part recompressing it to DV anyway, so having used a DV timeline would be no loss. ProRes is much less lossy, but like uncompressed formats it can't be recorded natively to videotape.
Many variations on this answer depending on what one is actually doing. Probably confused it more...

No. It downloads the maps as it needs them.
A very small portion of the map is cached in memory when offline, so you can see the last area you looked at, but as soon as you want to move the map, or look elsewhere it will need an internet connection to download from Google.
There are standalone map apps available in the AppStore if you search for the area you want.

You might want to ask you carrier that question. I can tell you that when I gave my old iPhone 4 to my wife we were able to get my old sim card that was in the 4 reprogrammed with the wife's phone number. The AT&T store didn't charge us to do this.

Need Help Can i use Merge command along with exist function in oracle?

I am using Merge command to update the destination table and updating the rows which are already in the destination table.
But what i want is to delete the existing rows from the destination table and insert fresh rows instead of updating the existing rows in the destination table.
So can we use exist function to check the existing rows and delete them and use merge command to insert the rows in the table.

You definitely need to do a DELETE then INSERT since MERGE will not delete rows, although I'm not really sure what that gets you since the net effect would be the same as a MERGE over the same pair of tables.
If you really want to do it this way, then I would likely do something like:
DELETE FROM target_table
WHERE (columns_you_would_match_on) IN (SELECT columns_you_would_match_on
FROM source_table
WHERE predicate_you_would_use_in_using);
INSERT INTO target_table (column_list)
SELECT column_list
FROM source_table

Whenever I start Private browsing, all the tabs and windows which are already open closes and then the Private browsing window opens. All the tabs and windows reopen after I stop Private browsing. What I exactly need is to open a new Private browsing window so that I can continue using the existing tabs. Is there a way of achieving this in Firefox 4?

There was an addon that did exactly this but it's discontinued now. It probably worked the same way as you laid out here.
Now is there another add-on that does the same thing?

Can I use my ipad which already has icloud installed to validate icloud on a pc with different apple id account?

I already have a personal ipad and iphone with icloud successfully installed. I need an icloud account setting up on a work pc laptop with a 'work' apple id and don't have a work ipad or iphone. Can I use my personal apple kit to validate my work icloud account somehow?

If you used your personal iCloud id, it would carry all of your items onto your work PC & vice verse...if you don't care about that it's fine, unless others will have access to your work computer which could be detrimental to your bank account...food for thought.
If you don't need something in iCloud and just need iTunes then you can for sure download iTunes and create an Apple id for your work since it is a laptop it is mobile....
I am having similar issues, only having multiple apple ids that are not iCloud ids. Trying to solve that problem...

Need help - Deleted domain and can't re-add - Error domain already exists - Site down

In trying to reconfigure our domain setup, I removed the main domain name in an attempt to re-add it so that it does not point to an external DNS server.
I deleted the domain and now when I try to re-add it, I get the following error:
Domain already exists. Please delete all records associated with this domain before re-adding it.
I have no way to submit a ticket when I go to help and support and our site is now down from the main page. I need help ASAP.

There's an app called Jump Desktop (Remote Desktop) in the app store. It's the fourth highest 'paid' app and the third highest 'grossing' app in the business category. (Go to the app store, then click on categories, then business. Then over on the right under top grossing and top paid you can click on Jump and read the reviews.)
You can work from your ipad with documents, spreadsheets, etc., make changes in them on your ipad and they will be reflected on your computer (mac or pc.) And you don't need a cellular ipad to make the connection. All you need to do is have your MBP on at home with a wireless network and be in an area where you have wireless access to connect your ipad (or iphone) with your MBP at home.
Jump Desktop (Remote Desktop) RDP/VNC will let you access your mac and all of your mac programs like MS Word, Excel, etc., as they are on your ipad. There's a free trial at jumpdesktop.com. If you like it you can then come back to the App store and buy it. Please note that there are many free apps that will help but you might have to spend extra time adapting your work to an ios app as many (most?) do not translate from mac to ipad well.
Please read the reviews in the app store (I suggest you start with the most recent ones) and read reviews by pro tech reviewers.

How can I use Time Machine with my existing network attached storage drives

I am a new mac user switching over from windows and have an extensive amount of existing equipment including 2 network attached storage devices (Buffalo Technologies). I would like to use these with Time Machine, but can not figure out how to do it. When I enter time machine setup it does not show these drives while the Finder does.

As of right now we are all SOL unless you own a Time Capsule. At the very least I wish apple would offer some kind of trade-up if they are not going to release a software update.
It really doesn't make any sense why we can't do this with a standard AEBS. Any fix should just be a matter of software, and while technically apple covered its butt with that little "subject to change" disclaimer on the leopard preview page, pulling it at the last minute and expecting those who believed their advertisement to buy another device that does the exact same thing for more money is just wrong. Give us a break apple, tell us your at least working on a fix, its the right thing to do.

It isn't entirely clear what you mean by 'shared' objects and what the relationship with these shared objects and calling native code is.
There are no shared objects in the Java language, only the java platform.
The platform system properties are exposed via the System class (java.lang package).
You are free to create your own shared objects by using static member access or some other mechanism.
Your access to methods in any of the API's is dictated by the access type you have, normally public being the only completely open access allowing complete visibility.
You can call native methods, thats what JNI is for. Calling native methods in classes other than your own is generally done using the API provided by the developer(s) of those classes.

Song as alarm - can't fix it by the already existing information

I just bought a song via iTunes by reason to use it as an alarm. But when I tried to change my alarm sound i couldn't find the song I bought, even if I clicked at "By more signals" (in swedish). Does somebody know how to fix this??

It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I have never opened or used "Japanese.lproj".
Interesting. This sort of thing is more common on Windows systems. Taken at face value, one of the iTunes program files (one of the Japanese language resources) is damaged.
I'd try running your Disk Utility over your startup disk. Does it find/repair any damage? If so can you empty your trash and reinstall your iTunes successfully now?
