Can I use / (slash) in a password in Oracle

Hi ,
Can I use / (slash) in a user password in Oracle. If yes , how do I bind such a password to a variable and use it in a connection string as ::
SQL:> conn <user_name>/<variable containing the password>@<Database name>
- Thanks
Sandipan Banerjee

<s>No, you cannot on current version.
SQL> create user test_user identified by 'a/b';
create user test_user identified by 'a/b'

Yes... you can. I had mistake. I must use " instead of '.
SQL> create user test_user identified by "A/B";
User created.
SQL> grant create session to test_user;
Grant succeeded.
SQL> conn test_user/"A/B"
Connected.

Of course you must download Skyoe to any device you want to use it on. And the Skype name and password must be the same on each in order to access your account, contacts, etc.

  • Can I use user names and password of Microsoft Office Outlook for hyperion

I'm new to Hyperion. Can anyone tell that can I use "user names" and "passwords" of Microsoft Office Outlook for login into hyperion applications.
I'm not talking about single sign on, but want to use same user names and passwords as that in Outlook.
    ANy suggestions?

That depends on how your Outlook authentication is configured.
Hyperion is generally configured to authenticate against a network directory (NTLM, MSAD or LDAP). I'm not an Outlook expert, but my Outlook user ID and password is almost always my MSAD id and password (I change clients regularly, and it's almost always the same situation). So it's also usually the same as my Hyperion ID and password.
Ask your Outlook administrator whether it uses (or syncs with) MSAD, NTLM or LDAP. If the answer is yes, then you're in good shape because Hyperion can use these as well.
    Hope this helps,

Can I use Report Manager to distribute customized oracle reports, other than FSG reports?

Another option could be to use XML/BI Publisher - again, you will need to check if your license includes distributing custom reports.

  • Can i use an app specific password on multiple macs

    Simple question.
I have so far set up 3 app specific passwords.   I have an iMac and an Macbook Air.    I also have an iPad and iPhone.   I have set up the app specific password for Fantastical, which runs on all devices, and BusyContacts.   Do I need to create app specific passwords for each instance of an app I install on multiple devices?  I would run out of the 25 limit pretty quickly.  Is there any way to vies the app specific passwords so I could copy them over to another device?

BusyMac's help page on the subject says
'You can create a single app-specific password and use it for multiple apps, such as BusyCal and BusyContacts.'
This isn't quite what you asked but I would take it as implying that you can reuse the password for other Macs. If you can't you will soon find out. You will need to write down the password and enter it each time.

  • Can't use email add as password

hello, just got a new macmini with mavericks pre-installed.  I have been using Macs for years and already have an apple id account.  when trying to set up icloud with my email address, or trying to change my username to my email address, it tells me the address is used already.  I have found I have  two accounts, the one I am aware of and use for iTunes etc. and another that was last used in 2006 for Applecare Confluence Wiki. i
I can't remember what this is for.  I have changed the password for the old account, but can't see away to delete or merge the two accounts.  any info on how to proceed?  thanks

You can neither delete nor merge AppleIDs, you just can stop using them.
If iCloud will not accept the AppleID you are using with the iTunes store or AppStore, try if it will accept your second AppleID. When setting up a new AppleID you cannot use a primary email address, that is already in use for another AppleID, so it would be preferable, if you could use one of the appleIDs you already have.

  • Can I use the same email & password for 2 separate macs on FaceTime?

Can I use one password and email address for two separate Apple computers (ie., iMac & MacBook Pro)?

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 3
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or obviously invalid, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 4
Back up all data, then take the steps suggested in this support article.
There are five steps in that article. Please take all of them. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 5
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If any proxy options are selected, make a note of them and then deselect them. You don’t need to change the bypass or FTP settings. Click OK and then Apply. Test. The result may be that you can't connect to any web server. Restore the previous settings if that happens.
    Step 6
    Select from the menu bar
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 7
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 8
Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 9
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 10
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 11
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.

  • Can w use rsync for Business Continuity for Oracle Applications Release12 ?

    Hi ,
One of our customer has implemented Oracle EBS R12 (12.0.6) on HP-UX (IA).
Database Tier on a Two Node Oracle Database 10g R2 RAC
Application Tier on Two Node using Shared APPL_TOP with Load Balancer.
They want to implement DR site using Oracle Data Guard (RAC to Non-RAC).
I was referring to Note: 452056.1 +( Business Continuity for Oracle Applications Release 12 on Database Release 10gR2 - Single Instance and RAC )+.
In this note its mentioned that:
If you wish to synchronize your concurrent manager log and out files between production and standby, you need to create folders matching to the APPLCSF environment variables for each others......................... For example, set up an rsync job similar to the below example in cron, to run every few minutes.
Can we use rsync for Production systems without any issues? Customer is concerned about using freeware on their Production systems.
    Rgds,
    Thiru.

    Thiru,
Can we use rsync for Production systems without any issues? Customer is concerned about using freeware on their Production systems. You can use it with no issues. Or, you could use any other copy tool to copy those files.

  • Can I use SQL/XML feature on EVERY Oracle DB?

I appreciate the SQL/XML as described here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/03-may/o33xml.html
But I wonder if I can use these commands on EVERY Oracle DB.
Do I have to prepare/setup an existing DB in any way for receiving such SQL/XML commands ? Or do I have to enable this feature/install an Add-On?
Can I use this feature even with the Express Editions ?
    Peter

SQL/XML appears in 9.2.x and later. Not all of the operators in the current (11g) product are available in earlier releases. Please check the SQL reference guide for a particular version. However that article is quite old so it probably only refers to the ones in 9.2.x

  • Can we use Struts 1.2.8 with Oracle AS 10.1.2?

    Hi all,
May I know whether we can use Struts 1.2.8 under Oracle AS 10.1.2? Does it conflict with any library used by Oracle AS 10.1.2 already?
    Thanks and regards,
    William

    Hi William,
I am using Struts 1.2.8 in Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.2. I face no problems with it. But make sure that yor are not adding the Library called Struts Runtime provided by JDeveloper to your project. Just add the Srtuts 1.2.8 jar files to you Project Additional Classpath or go to Tools --> Manage Libraries and add these Struts 1.2.8 jar files there and use this in your Project Libraries.
    Hope it helps,
    Cheers,
    Aravind.

  • Tiger & Safari 2.0 - Can't Use Arrow Keys in Password Fields

Since installing Tiger and using the new Safari 2.0, password fields in online forms are not allowing the use of arrow keys. I can't go back one character or to the beginning of the •••••••• typed in the password field. In fact I can't even use the mouse to click anywhere other than the end of this field. It's forcing me to type it straight through, which is not how I type or re-type passwords (* See Example Below). I need to be able go back and edit sometimes, and the arrow keys helped in previous versions, but not now. All form text fields should allow the use of the arrow keys and the mouse to change the cursor's insertion point. Internet Explorer does not do this. But to my dismay the Mac OS X Login Window does! So maybe this is part of the OS rather than just Safari. I hope Apple is listening and fixes this issue in future versions of Safari & Tiger
    * Example of how to make secure passwords via the Arrow Keys:
Take two or three easy to remember words or numbers. For example I'll use "steve" "jobs" and the date Apple Computer was formed 4/1/1976 or "4176" for our purposes here. First you type in the first word...
    steve
Second you move the cursor with the arrow keys (which you can't do in Safari 2.0) to the beginning using the up-arrow, then alternate typing the second word "jobs" with a right-arrow key interspersed between each letter. So you would then type "j right-arrow o right-arrow b right-arrow s", which combined with what we already typed in step one should look like this...
    jsotbesve
Things are looking secure, no one would think of typing that. But we'll go to a third step and just repeat what we did before adding "4176" to the mix, which would then look like this...
    4j1s7o6tbesve
No one or thing would guess that password. but it's so easy to remember with the help of Arrow Keys. Now this is just one method. You could use the left-arrow key to go backwards with it, using two left-arrow key clicks...
    stsebv6o7e1j4
    maybe use 1, 2, and 3 right-arrow clicks...
    4j1so7teb6ves
Simple, easy to remember words or numbers made into secure unguessable passwords with the simple help of the Arrow Keys. Please Apple, make them usable in the password fields again.

    Still looking for help here.
And now in addition the above-listed issue, this browser has bogged down and is loading pages so slowly it just grinds to a halt.
At this point, I'd settle for instructions on how to fully uninstall Safari and re-install it and start over. This is flat unacceptable, and at this point I'm wondering why in the world I elected to pay for Tiger, only to be "blessed" with this disaster.
Please don't tell me to go back and reinstall the entire operating system. Not unless Apple would like a bill for the hours of my time it will take to do that, re-port all my files and re-install all my other software.
