Can I use the Camera Connection Kit to transfer files from my Mob/PS3/iPod?
Can I use the Camera Connection Kit to transfer files from my mobile/iPod or Playstation 3 to iPad using a USB cable?
I have an *iPod nano 16GB 5g* & my mobile is a *Samsung G800* and *Playstation 3 80GB*.
_Thanks for reading_
The CCK will find/ask to download (if iPad supported formate )picture and video files if the device is formated in FAT 16 or 32 and the supported files are placed in a "DCIM" folder in the root directory. I have transfered such files from SD card and USB drives. However, not USB drive work. I had an old 2GB (very large) and when i connected it it said it drew too much power.
I also downloaded pictures and video files from a compact flash card and smart media card via a SanDisk USB card reader.

No. The CCK is only designed to allow you to import photos from a digital camera via USB or an SD card. You cannot import any data via this kit and no other files will work as it's designed for only the functionality it does. The kit looks for a folder with the label "DSC####### the same structure as most digital cameras, and will only function with JPG files.

I can't use The camera connection kit with nikon coolpix s3300
The camera connection kit (USB) doesn't work with Nikon coolpix s3300
The Hero 2 will also nest folders in the DCIM folder and the camera connection kit will read the files in them. Another option to viewing your videos in HD would be to use an app that can play H.264 video, where you will drag and drop the videos in to the iTunes File Sharing under the Apps tab.
If you've never used the File Sharing, simply keep you iPad docked to your computer, select your device, tap on the Apps tab, scroll down past the screen shot of your iPad's home page to File Sharing. In there scroll to the app you're going to share with and tap on it to select it. Then from your computer or straight from your GoPro, select the video(s) and drag them over to iTunes and drop them into the area under Document and you should see the files transfer to the app. When the transfer is done you should be able to see them play in a video app that can play H.264 video, I know the Flex:Player app is one of them. VLC will play 1080p, but not very well. -
How do I use the camera connection kit to transfer photos from iPhone 4 with ios 7.0.2 to iPad 2 with ios 7.0.2?

I use my camera for video and photos. When I download my videos to my ipad1 using the camera connection kit, they will not play.
Does anyone know how I can make this work?Yvonne-
I haven't tried videos on my camera yet. Do you use the Videos App to play them? I don't think they will play in the Photos App.
If yours are in a format that is not in Vazandrew's list, you may need to sync them to your computer and convert them to M4V or MP4 format. You can use a program like HandBrake to do the conversion. <HandBrake> Once converted, you can sync them back to the iPad and they should play.
This may not meet your needs, but the alternative appears to be getting a different camera. I don't know of another Video App that might work.

I can't import vertical photos to my iPad using the camera connection kit. Horizontal photos import fine, but verticals have a red exclamation mark, and do not import. Help!?
I have the same problem and apple needs to fix this - but in the mean time you can manually select the vertical photos then "import - import selected" and you can get your verticals. We need a better fix. THIS IS A BUG!

Once pictures are moved from your camera to your iPad (using the camera connection kit), how do you get the photos off of the iPad? They do not show up in my photo stream or my iCloud. I am able to see any photo I took on the iPad using the iPad camera (in iTunes, photo stream, or when I open windows explorer and browse the iPad director), however I cannot see any photos transfered from my camera to the iPad. The camera connection kit must have put my photos in a directory I cannot get to and cannot sync.
The links below have instructions for deleting photos.

Since upgrading to iOS4.2 I cannot directly upload photos from my camera using my camera connection it. Is there another gadget I can now use to directly upload photos directly from my camera?
This is a two year old post and your response has no relevance to the OPS question.

When the camera connector is plugged in and I turn on the camera the iPad opens photos and camera shows up but no photos come through. Help????
Try switching from Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) [Some cameras may refer to PTP as Pictbridge or PTP/Pictbridge.] to Mass Storage Device Mode or vise versa on the camera.
Or use the camera's SD card.

Does the camera connection kit rename imported photos?
If I use the camera connection kit to transfer photos from the SD card used in my Sony RX-100 camera, will the photos, whose names always begin with "DSC_", be renamed according to the iOS covention "IMG_"?
This renaming *does* occur when I transfer photos to my iOS devices using Eye-Fi cards. You can also use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Since updating my iPad devices (iPad 1,2 and iPad) with the latest iOS, I can no longer use the camera connection kit to load photos directly into my camera roll. Anybody have any ideas on remedying this problem?
Open Disk Utility, select the External Hard Drives first icon in the list of Drives, click the Repair Disk button.

Photo app can no longer import using the camera connetion kit
I have been using the ipad photo app for some time to transfer photos from my digital camera to the ipad using the camera connection kit. Now, I can no longer import photos via the kit - the app is simply stuck showing a spinning icon on the first image in the series.
What I do:
Insert the SD card into the connection kit
Insert connection kit into ipad
Wait for photo app to appear
See list of images
Press import all
After this I can see the spinning icon on the first image in the series - it will stay like this, presumably until battery runs out and the ipad dies (I only left it to its own devices for an hour or so..).
What to do?Have you tried resetting the device? HOld down the home and sleep keys, past the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple and let it reboot.
Also...how much are you trying to import? is it possible that you're importing a lot and the iPad is getting lost processing htem all? Does it work if you only do a few at a time? -
Is it possible to put films on an ipad using a camera connection kit?
I have just bought a camera connection kit for my ipad 3 and a 16GB sd memory card. i was wondering, is it possible to add mp4 films (such as Transformers) onto the ipad using the camera connection kit from my sd card?
You can. It's just not the easiest thing in the world to do.
MP4 files play just fine. Handbrake is one very good video converter app.
Make and have the file on your computer.
Using the explorer on your computer, You make a folder on the SD card named DCIM
You give the movie a 8 character name TRANSFOR.MP4 for example - has to be exactly 8 characters + extension
You put that file into the DCIM folder using your computer
Eject the card from your computer.
You attach that card via the camera connection kit, to your iPad
The photo app should pop up and you'll see either a poster frame or a black box representing your video
You go through the import process and move that file to your iPad
You finish the process, taking care not to delete the file off the card (the CCK always gives you the option of deleting the photos or movies you just imported)
You open the photos app and tap on the movie, it'll open the video app and play the movie
You finish the movie then have to delete it off your iPad.
You will not see file names, so if you have multiple movies on a card you likely can't tell one from the other.
And you have to have room to import the file, you cannot watch it off the card.
So it works, but isn't exactly seamless and easy, largely cause the preferred method is that you simply purchase and download the same movies from iTunes
