Can I Use These Software Titles If I Buy A Mac?

Hello everyone, I recently enrolled at Phoneix University online classes are starting this month on the 20th. They faxed me a "Hardware/Software" standards checklist with the following specs & software titles that I would need to complete my courses,
#1) 1.2GHz> Pentium,AMD processor...I'm purchasing the I-Book1.42Ghz.
#2)Windows XP or 2000 (Can I use Virtual PC 7 with Win XP?)
#3)MS Office 2000 or 97 (I have MS Office 2001 on my destop (PCI) G4 350MHz which is running 9.2 already..could I just export that to my I-Book which is running 10.4?)
#4)MS Word (See #3)
#5)MS Powerpoint (See #3)
#6)MS Excel (See #3)
#7) MS Access: This one isn't in MS Office for Mac, but could I buy it and use it with the Virtual PC 7?
#8)Microsoft Visio 5.0 or later:I don't even know what this program is for(See #7)
#9)A current anti-virus application. Any Ideas?
This is the deal.....I'm enrolled at Phoneix Online to bump my total credits up so I can go to the Navy in a higher paygrade..(laptops important..mobility) On land I use Pro Tools LE on my old G4 desktop so I want to stay with the Apple platform because of session transfers, and I just know Macs a little better than PC's (comfort factor).
Any and all advice would be appreciated, I just don't want to blow my student loan on a bunch of new "Computer Stuff" that won't let me get my schoolwork done! I gotta' pay tha money back you know!!

Upgrade your G4 PowerMac to OSX 10.4 (Tiger).
Buy an ibook or a Powerbook – the best you can afford.
Buy the latest version 'student' version of MS Office for Mac – it's not that expensive.
Don't bother buying Virtual PC, as it's slow and time/money wasting.
You'll be covered for Word, Excel and Powerpoint (although I use Keynote, it's better, and it will import Powerpoint files easily).
You won't have Access for databases; instead buy Appleworks, as it has a database feature (quite powerful), although you won't be able to open Access files – there maybe third-party app's that can convert, try http://www.dataviz.com.
You won't have Visio (it's a flowchart app. by the way) either, but you can use OmniGraffle (http://www.omnigroup.com/) – it's very good.

Yes, you can download iTunes for Windows using Parallels. If planning on making purchases here and/or authorizing already purchased tracks (from your Mac iTunes library), you are permitted to authorize five (5) computers as per iTunes Store terms of use, regardless of computing platform. No need to create a separate new iTunes Store account.
However, judging from what you would like to do, your best bet would be to convert the WMAs to AAC/MP3 in iTunes-Windows (iTunes-Mac cannot import WMA files), and drag the files from the Parallels window to your desktop to add to the iTunes-Mac library. (as the iPod itself is currently linked to your iTunes-Mac library)

You can use Boot Camp, which comes with your Mac and install a copy of Windows on a new partition, or you can use a virtual application like Parallels.

Formatting C: - Can I use a software like DBAN?

QuestionAs soon as my laptop is heavily infected, I need to format my C: partition.
Now I would like to avoid using OneKey Recovery and selecting a recovering from a backup.
Instead I'd like to format C: by using a software like: DBAN and reinstall windows from the laptop's factory backup.
Is that possible?

fThis would be possible if you had created a Sser's back up before. Ensure that the User's backup you created is not in Drive C:
IMPORTANT: Only Format the Drive C: / Do not delete and recreate any of the partitions. Just format it as deleting a partition may cause the OKR (One Key Recovery) software not to work.
Once done with formatting, shut down the computer and press the OKR button to launch the OKR. Select Recovery or Restore from User's back up on the prompt and select your Backup.

If I go to a copy shop to print the covers (double-sided for a slim case of DVD) it would make sense to have two covers on one page in A4 and they should be on the right place so that the two backsides of the covers are at the back of the front of the covers printing the page in A4 double sided.
Is this possible to do that if I choose the right size of the covers and save the picture (in jpeg or better as pdf file)?

For large amounts of text Photoshop is not the best choice.
But you can certainly create Type Layers – select the Type Tool (T) and create Point Text by clicking onto the Canvas or Paragraph Text by click-dragging on the Canvas.

Yes, you can use this software. Adobe never updates the system requirements from what they are when a version is released. When PSE 6 came out, OS X was at 10.5.2, ergo….

Can i use these with my XF

hello
i have an extrem music card that i want to connect to my Denon decoder.
I have trouble to do it with optical (i bought the plug to put in I/O jack but dont work) so i want to try the 3 connectors of the soundblaster : the front, the rear and center/subwoofer ones.
But on the Denon i dont have the 3 jacks to plug in BUT i can connect an external decoder with 6 RCA : 2 for front, 2 for rears and 2 for sub and center.
So can i use these cables to plug the sound card to the denon ? :

and if i can, the sub will be on the red or white RCA ?

The audio patch cord you have will work for only coaxial digital outputs and inputs. I can't remember between red or white, but, is like this. The /8" stereo jack connects to the FlexJack on the back of the X-Fi XtemeMusic soundcard.?Red connector - for coaxial digital output?White connector - for coaxial digital input?...or either or, switch them around, the red and white.
Also, make sure you enable the Digital I/O in any of the Modes, such as; Entertainment Mode, Game Mode or Audio Creation Mode.
You can also use the Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module. Which has the Dedicated optical and coaxial digital outputs and inputs. This will work for your X-Fi XtemeMusic soundcard. It works great on mine. If you don't want to buy the Module on the creative webstore, just google "Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module" to find a different webstore. Some webstores have free shipping.

Read the system requirements for the programs you listed. Match them against the specifications of the machine you propose to buy. The more RAM the better, your hard drive size requirements and video card specicications may require the upgraded, not base, model or may eliminate the MBA as a platform.

uninstall everything cs6, clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then reinstall.
if that fails, expalin what you see when trying to reinstall that indicates to you that there's been a problem.

When we double click on the index.app file, the application is working perfectly in Mac 10.6.7 at our office. But if the same index.app file is double clicked in Mac 10.6.7 at out clients location, its not opening. For your information the client is able to open this same application by double clicking on index.swf file. The main problem is that client is not able to open the application using index.app file at their office whereas we are able to do so at our office. Can anyone give some suggestions to sort this problem?

The most common reason is different versions of Flash, or different versions of web browsers used. Some users may elect to not have Flash installed at all because of the processor overhead of Flash. If you are going to make an application for a client, check what operating system and browser versions they are using first. Then determine if a stand alone application is required, or if they have the necessary plugins to run specific browser enhanced code.
P.S. MAC is an acronym for Media Access Control. Mac is the shorthand for Macintosh, the operating system and computers made by Apple Inc.
