Can improve picture quality in Dvd Pro?

I just made my first DVD in DVD Pro! Just a simple DVD with first track start.
I am disappointed about the quality.
I took it from 2k clips, assembled them in FCP, exported to Compressor, choose (MPEG 2) best quality max 90 min (Footage is only 2 min) and burned it. I am a bit ashamed to give away so soft images.....I was told, a dvd con only hold SD and not HD.
Is there any way to improve the quality?
I shot it on 4k. But most dvds I have seen have a better quality.
Dorian

no, I have not looked at a TV. Don't even have one... haha.
Only monitors. But I see all other dvds on my computer monitor.
Well, of course, it is downgraded to 720x480. But is there a way to tweak the quality a little bit? I used already 2 passes setting, all others are default settings in Compressor.

how can i improve burning quality of dvd.looks fine in preview on idvd, but final burn quality is poor.

Had same problem with iPhoto pictures and poor burn quality. Went back to original picture file and dragged images into idvd project from there. Set encoding at professional quality and burned at slowest speed. Got very good result with high quality slideshow when played on TV.
Also tried Old Toad's Aug 30, 2011 advice to get a slideshow into iDVD with transitions, music, etc. from iPhoto.
Again the quaility of the burned CD was very good.

How can I improve picture quality...now grainy after IOS update!

    Hello, dreamer5th.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.  They are labeled for the iPhone; however, the steps also apply to your iPad.  Also, make sure to test the camera in well lighted conditions as this can affect picture quality.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

  • Picture quality of DVDs and iTunes HD video on my iMac less than other macn

    Hi,
This might be difficult to help with, but I've been concerned about this for some.
The picture quality of DVDs (retail movies) and iTunes HD video look far superior on my mother's and sister's laptops than on my iMac. Even a movie I just recorded off TV looks way better on our old CRT TV than on my Mac.
I can't find any way to adjust settings.
Can anybody help? What info do I need to give to help you help me?
    Regards

I'm not exactly sure what you are describing, but you can consider the following...
Laptops have smaller screens, with higher pixel density (smaller pixels). Also DVDs are typically something line 720x480 resolution. When you spread those pixels out on a larger iMac screen, especially one that is 24-inch 1920x1200, it will look less sharp. The screen may be larger, but the quality of the video image stays the same.
A 8"x11" photograph, may look fine at that size. But if you blow it up to poster size, it will probably look terrible.
iTunes HD is usually 1280x720. That should look pretty good on an iMac's larger screen. But if you are comparing (side-by-side) how sharp the same video looks on a small laptop screen, it will look sharper on the small screen with less area and smaller pixels. But if you back up a few feet from the iMac when you are using +full screen+ mode (to TV viewing distance), it should look about the same.
Even a movie I just recorded off TV looks way better on our old CRT TV than on my Mac.
CRT TV's are optimized to show motion, with a technique called interlacing. If you freeze a frame (pause), it will look terrible. Since an iMac's display will not use interlacing, the same video will not look as good, especially when the size is increased. The quality of showing the same video on an iMac will be impacted by the method used to transfer it to the iMac. If it is encoded to a digital format, there will be loss of quality in that process.

  • Loss of picture quality - HD Go Pro Camer

I have a go pro helmet cam HD. whe i watch the videos straight off the camera with no editing the picture quality is fantastic. However when i edit the videos in Final cut Express the picture quality goes down. It becomes less clear, and a bit dull. Still good quality but not what the camera actually produces.
How can i edit it to get the quality back?
    Thanks

MP4 video that you are importing to FCE is a delivery format that FCE does not handle directly.
It most likely has a smaller dimension size than the HD codec (Apple Intermediate Codec) that FCE works with resulting in soft looking finished video/DVDs.
Knowing your Seqeunce setting would confirm this!!
Right click the Seqeunce icon in the Browser and select item properties for info.
Do the same for a clip in the Browser and get the info.
If you tell us the info about the Sequence and Clips we will be in a better position to assist.
You will most likely get better results by converting your clips to AIC before importing them to FCE.
A search on this forum will provide the details on "how to".

  • How to improve the quality of DVD?

I know that there is a option of best perfermance or best quality in the preference menu.
I have tried the "best quality" and encode a 1 hr. video from DV Cam , the size of the video is only around 2 G out of 4.2.
While I use my DVD HD recorder to make a DVD, I chose the best quality and the quality/resolution of the DVD is much better compare with the one made by the Mac book.
How can I increase the quality of DVD captured from DV cam?
    Any helps?
    Macbook 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

welcome wwb to the  board ...
there are no manual-settings in iDVD for setting bitrates...
to "set" the highest possible bitrate, make project shorter then <60min plus choose "Best performance"... (the naming is irritating... BP creates VBR, which is "better" compared to CBR, which is in iDVD-ish "Best Quality"...)

  • Streaming dvd picture quality vs dvd disk

I was going to download a hd/blu-ray quality movie from itunes to be watched on my big screen tv via Apple TV, but I'm not sure if I will notice a difference in picture quality between that and just watching the movie on my blu-ray player via the actual dvd disk.  My router is in the other room, so ethernet connect is not an option.

I've tried DriverCleaner, but to no help: I was still getting a foggy picture. Then I noticed that playback of a previously recorded Tv-show did show a good quality!? So that guided me to the fact that the problem wasn't caused by the Nvidia drivers but perhaps by the InterVideo WinDVD player. Reinstallation of the program completely solved the problem!
Although you didn't provide the answer, thanks for your help anyway Dr. Stu.

  • Picture Quality & Final Cut Pro 5.0

I just finished a big project using FCP - I really like the program, but the picture quality is less than perfect. In fact, it's pixelated, especially where there is motion. I've tried upping my monitor's refresh rate, but that hasn't seemed to resolve the problem. Does anyone have advice for me? Is this a known issue with FCP or Quicktime, or is this more likely a hardware problem?
    Thanks,
    Craig

Shane's Stock Answer #2: Blurry playback
ONLY JUDGE THE QUALITY OF YOUR MATERIAL ON AN EXTERNAL NTSC MONITOR, OR AT LEAST A TV.
    1. Disable overlays on the canvas
    2. Make sure you've rendered everything (no green bars at the top of the timeline
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=24787
Video playback requires large amounts of data and many computations. In order to maintain frame rate and be viewable at a normal size, only about one-fourth of the DV data is used in displaying the movie to the screen. However, the DV footage is still at full quality, and is best viewed thru a TV or NTSC monitor routed thru your camera or deck.

  • Audio quality in DVD pro

I just brought a file from FCP through Compressor into DVD Studio Pro. I have a music track for Menu 1 as well at the audio which came out of Compressor from my original file. The music for Menu 1 sounds fine, but the music of the movie when played back in Simulator is weak and muted. It sounded much better in FCP; I have to raise the volume substantially just to hear it in DVD SP.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks
    Shelley

This will almost certainly be down to the way you encoded the audio. Go back into Compressor and check the settings...
When you go into Compressor the encoding profile for the audio (AC3) will probably have a 'dialog normalization' setting of -27db by default. This will attenuate your audio and cause it to sound more quiet than in FCP. To overcome this, change that setting to -31db, which will ensure there is no attenuation and the sound coming out should then be the same as the sound going in.
Then flick through to the preprocessing tab where you may see the profile set to film standard compression - change that to be 'none'.
These two changes should help ensure the sound coming out is nearer in volume to the sound going in.

  • Improving picture quality (bad pixillation)

I'm trying to make a DVD from a miniDV tape I made of a concert last year. When I watch the show on my camcorder's screen, it looks fine. But during import to iMovie, the details (such as people's faces) I see on my Mac's screen are quite pixillated and undefined.
My initial guess as to why this is happening was because of the relatively low lighting in the auditorium where the concert took place. But, as I said, it looks fine on the camcorder's screen. And the faces that are unclear had plenty of spotlight (and not enough to wash them out).
Is there anything else that might be the cause of this? What can I do to smooth out the details? Thanks.
    N. B.: I am working on this in iMovie 5. Do you think putting it into iMovie 8 would help?

A camcorder's screen is tiny compared with a Mac screen. Anything may look finely detailed on a teeny 2.5" (camcorder) screen, but when it gets blown up to 12" or more on a computer screen you tend to see its shortcomings.
When you say "pixellated" I'm not sure that your idea of pixellated and others' ideas are the same. Yes, faces may look "splodgy" and unclear if shot in low light. "Pixellation" is the name usually given to the 'mosaic'-like effect of missing data when a tape's replayed: small squares of inappropriate brightness, usually the 'leftovers' from a previous frame if data's missing from the current frame (..possibly because of dirty replay heads, playing an LP tape in a different camcorder, the result of tape scrunch, or bad tape-to-head contact).
Some camcorders - and it used to be the same with Sony monitors, too - automatically 'cover up' missing data by inserting data from the last good frame, so that in replay on the camcorder you don't see any faults. This doesn't happen when the data's sent down the FireWire cable to another device ..which is when missing data shows up as pixellation.
    This might happen if:
    (a) it's an old tape, which has not been played for a year or so, and the tape layers are sticking together and not transporting properly through the camcorder;
    (b) the tape is moist, so the layers are sticking;
    (c) it's an LP (long play) recording, and there's mis-tracking through the transport system ..or if the LP tape is played on a different device than the one which recorded it (LP recordings have very narrow track widths, and aren't guaranteed to line up with any other devices than the one which recorded them);
    (d) mix'n'match any of the above.
Try fast-forwarding and rewinding the tape several times before playing any more of it. Let it slowly come up to room temperature if it's been stored somewhere cold. If it's an LP tape, let the camcorder come up to room temperature before use, so that any minor temperature-induced expansion can happen and so that the camera's in the same warm state it was in when the tape was recorded.
It won't be any better in iMovie '08.

  • Not again?! Creative, I really hope you can improve ur quality of mp3 play

I am simply disapointed with the quality control at creative. I have brought my Creative Zen micro since last december. And I have been either changing the remote or earphone or the set all this while because of problems. And just when I thought my nightmares have ended after changing my earphone the other day, today a problem arise with my micro. This is my 3rd set mind you. And the problem is none other than the infamous Earphone Socket Problem. ALL MY PREVIOUS PLAYERS SUFFERED FROM THE SAME PROBLEM and now I have to make all my way to Jurong from Sengkang just to replace it.
Like any other Creative fans, I rejoice when I heard Creative is releasing two new players, BUT PLEASE CREATIVE, ELIMINATE FAULTS WITH THE CURRENT PLAYERS <FIRST!.

I have the same problem and I hate it too!
I purchased my zen micro in january, I had it for three days and I had the earphone socket error... went too the shop and luckily I got a replacement immediately.
The replacement zen worked fine until mid-march and then the same problem... went too the shop and there they told me that after one month of purchase, I had to take care of the RMA procedure myself (they said it were orders from Creative...) so I made an international phonecall to Ireland, got an adress to send my faulty zen and after more than 3 weeks a new zen was deli'vered at my dourstep...
now 2 months later again the same error!
Creative should redesign the earphone socket in such a way that there is now way the socket could ever move even the slightest bit, anyhow...
monday I'm gonna make another phonecall for a new RMA procedure, and the moment I recieve a new one (as soon as possible I hope) I'm gonna design my own protecti've case around the socket so nothing could EVER happen to it in the future.
maybe I should have chosen the ipod afterall...

  • Improve video quality (Premiere Pro CS4)

    Hi everyone,
I've been given an mpeg file that's really low quality, ie. it has a lot of compression artifacts. I wondered if there was a way to somehow improve the quality using premiere pro. I've never use this program before so would probably need basic instructions if there is a solution.
    Appreciate any advice.

As John T. points out, once heavy compression has been done, there is no undoing it. The bits of data are just no longer there.
Now, one can improve some aspects, but this is just making something bad, a bit less bad. Depending on the footage, a bit of Levels (not Auto-Levels), a bit of Highlight & Shadow (turn OFF Auto and then change the setting down quite a bit), Fast Color Corrector, perhaps Neat Video (optional plug-in from Neat Video), and then a touch of Unsharp Mask as the final. That might improve things a bit, but do not expect magic, as it is not going to happen.
Good luck, and if there is ANY way to get back to before that MPEG compression, get that. You will be so much farther ahead.

  • Does anyone know how to put iphoto pictures into a dvd?

I tried it a couple of ways but I heard if you use idvd that you can put pictures onto a dvd. I just don't know how to work idvd. If any of you could help me, I would really appreciate it.

Maybe you would be better off posting this in the iPhoto or iDVD categories of the forums.

The answer to your question depends on what you ant to do with the DVD.
Do you want a DVD menu, slide show etc.
iPhoto will allow you to burn straight to a DVD. Just select the album you want to burn then go to share in the tool bar and select Burn.

The issue with the A1400 is that like most economy compact cameras, they will not have very fast focus times in indoor lighting situations. Many people have gone to entry level DSLR's (Canon T3i) or micro 4/3 cameras. They are fairly expensive, but a late model refurbished T3i can sometimes be found with a kit lens for about $300.00. With Auto and scene modes, as well as full manual modes, these are very versatile cameras that focus very quickly, even in lower lighting situations. Canon is not really into the micro 4/3 cameras, instead they are focusing on the new G7x and G1x cameras, which are way out of your price range. The A720 is still available used at some places such as KEH camera, but you'll need to check often as their stock changes constantly. Obviously the DSLR's don't use AA batteries, but the T3i is good for about 600 photos (or more) per charge.
My refurbished DSLR was practically brand new condition when I got it. I could not find any sign of wear at all, so I feel they are a real bargain. These are rugged cameras that are made to last. The A1400 is a $99.00 camera, so it's not intended for heavy usage, plus the image quality of a DSLR (even entry level) is far better than the A1400. That would be my recommendation.
