Can Multiple Applications Access same DAQ ni usB-6289 device?

I have to Run Multiple Instances of a LabVIEW Executable Simultaneously. Is it possible to access the same DAQ ni usB-6289 device for all of the LabVIEW instance?
Thanks.

Never tried it but I doubt you will be able to acces the DAQ simultaneously, To verify it try accesing the DAQ in LabVIEW and in MAX at the same time.

• Can multiple PCs access one remote panel at the same time?

I've written a program in labview 7.1 to monitor/control a labview application running in the test cell through Remote Panel. I and my coworker can remotely monitor and/or control this labview application individually. But if my coworker has the remote panel displayed on his PC and I try to get the remote panel on my PC, I get a labview error (63) as below:
"LabVIEW: Serial port receive buffer overflow.
LabVIEW: The network connection was refused by the server."
My question is: Can multiple PCs access one remote panel at the same time?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry I wasn't clear. The remote panel license is separate from the number of LabVIEW development licenses. Pricing information on remote panel licenses can be found here.

• Does Windows have some APIs which can let an application access an LBA in a storage device directly

The Windows users perform operations in the file level, for example, create a file, read data from a file, write data to a file, and so on.
However, a storage device only understands the LBA (logic block address). It can only write data to LBAs or read data from LBAs.
I think it is the Operating System (and File System) which converts those file-level operations into LBA-level operations.
Is there any APIs in Windows that the users can use to access the LBA in an storage device directly?

• HT204053 Can you use the same Apple ID for two devices ?

I have an MacPro and I am buying an iPad. Can you use the same Apple ID for two devices or should I create an new AppleID for the ipad?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Apple ID purpose is to have the same data in all your devices and share your purchases among all your devices, so you can use your Apple ID in both devices

• HT204053 can I use the same apple id for many devices

can I use the same apple id for many devices on the app find my phone

You can if they are all using the same iCloud account (ID). The app will only display the devices using the iCloud account that the app is currently signed into. If your devices are using different accounts, with different IDs, you will need to sign out, then sign back in with the iCloud ID being used on the device you are trying to locate.

• Multiple Application Instances Accessing Same DAQ Device

I have a fairly straightforward application that reads from a wireless DAQ device (NI-9205 connected to NI WLS-9163). I'd like to run multiple instances of the executable, but I get error -201105 (resource reserved) when the DAQmx task is started on the second instance. Each instance is attempting to acquire from different channels from the same DAQ device. Is this an issue with the DAQ device in particular, or with DAQmx in general? Thanks.
-Joe
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hi Joe,
Unfortunately you can only access one type of channel with each program. For example you could have one program access AI and another use AO, but you cannot have two different programs access AI from the same card. This is common among all of NI DAQ devices.

• Multiple application access threat

Hi,
I would like to put some crypto-stuff in JavaCard, but have a question:
Is it possible, to access single applet from multiple application at the same time?
If so, is it necessary to validate card from each application? I don't want to open card for all application, but only to the one that passed PIN. And protect signing features from being used by some concurrently running applications (probable troyans).
How can a accomplish it? Maybe by encrypting data channel?
Thank in advance,
Martin

it's possible but in order to exchange sensitive data
between multiple applcations, they must secure
themselves as well. I DON'T want multiple applications to have access to the card at the same time
scenario:
1. secure app enters valid PIN and opens the card
2 another (troyan) app sends some data to be signed.
Can I secure the access to an opened card (with valid pin etered), and be sure, that other applications cannot acces the card (cannot use it for signing without validating)?
That's wat I ment in my previous question. And I don't know if I understand your answer - is it possible to have multiple access to the card, or is it possible to secure the access from a single application?

• Multiple Application Access on PCI-6503

I have two applications which would like to use a PCI-6503 card through the
NI-DAQ API. One of these applications runs as an NT service, the other as a
desktop application.
If the service application begins using the card first, the desktop
application fails miserably. If the desktop application accesses the card
first, everything works fine. I have experienced similar problems sharing
memory between service and desktop applications and had to change the
service application so it would use an empty DACL in the security descriptor
when it allocated the shared memory. Does the NI-DAQ software have a
similar problem?
Thanks,
Neal Stublen

Another guess, but information that might help.
I'm assuming the service starts as the local system account. Some driver
inherits credentials from the service running as the local system
account. These credentials are inadequate for the interactive user. But
when the interactive user launches the driver, the credentials are
adequate for the local system account.
My guess is that if you change the configuration of the service to start
w/ specific user credentials, then the problem disappears. Goto Control
Panel | Services | {service name} | Startup and change the user from
local system account to the interactive user. Don't check interact w/
desktop, rather change to a specific user and specify the user that will
log on to the system.

• Can multiple users access apps

Just migrated to 'The Mac', need a word processor, if I have different user accounts on the iMac can they all access iWorks if I buy it?

yes, all the accounts on the computer should be able to access iwork or ms office. if you need to use it on multiple computers there are multi-user license versions available.

• Multiple Applications on Same IAS

I wanna using IAS 10g to deploy my two Applications on the Same Server machine. Both of the applications have same common names of forms & reports.
I never hardcode the path in my application, I use FORMS_PATH instead in default.env.
If form one.fmx is common in both apps /home/oracle/app1 and /home/oracle/app2 and I define the FORMS_PATH=/home/oracle/app1;/home/oracle/app2 the form from the first directory will be open always.
Please guide me.
Zulqarnain

You have to set the reports path in the Reports environment before starting the Reports Server.
For Windows platforms you can set REPORTS_PATH in the Windows registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ORACLE > HOMEx).
On UNIX, you can set REPORTS_PATH by revising the shell script that defines the initial default values: $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh. This script is called when starting any Reports Server.
If you want to affect only a single Reports Server, modify its <server>.conf file to set the sourceDir variable to the directory path where the reports are located.
The path is effective for a Reports Server that is started after modifying the registry, script, or configuration file.

• Can you use the same Apple Id on different devices.

Can I use the same Apple ID on two different iPads? My kids just got school issued iPads and they need to have an Apple ID. They have iPhones with there own Apple ID's. We use one Apple ID for purchases for our family. Can they use there current Apple ID with the iPads without the purchase Apple Id being associated. Will they be able to load music and apps that were purchased with the family Apple Id?

I am just a little confused about the way that you asked thes questions. But here is my take.
1. Yes - You can use two Apple ID's on an iPad.
2. You can use the same Apple ID on up to 10 total devices - but there is a five computer limit in that total of 10 devices.
3. If you use one ID for some things and then use the family ID to download past purchases for free - you will lock themselves out of the other ID for 90 days.
4. When you download a past purchase on an iDevice using a different ID - you associate that device with that ID and you are locked into that ID only for 90 days.

• I have an iphone 4 and thinking about getting an ipad2. Can i use the same apple id for both devices?

I have an iphone 4 and I am thinking about getting an ipad2. Can I use the same apple id and itunes account with both of them? Will my contacts and apps transfer over to the iPad2?

Yes. I use the same Apple ID on four different iDevices. You can sync the contacts with iCloud or with your computer and have them on both devices. You can sync all of the apps as well. If the apps are not in iTunes on your computer - you can download them to the iPad with the same Apple ID. You can also restore the iPad from a backup of the phone to transfer your settings, app data and your contacts.
iPhone only apps will be half size on the iPad screen but will still work as long - you can enlarge the size of the apps - but they will be pixelated on the screen.

• Can multiple Macs access the same firewire volume simultaneously?

I have a firewire drive and hub, and two Mac Minis. I would like to use this hardware to build an Oracle 10g Real Application Cluster (RAC). To do this, both Macs would have to be able to read/write blocks on the same volume on the firewire drive (Oracle prevents collisions). Newer Linux kernels have support for doing this. It seems that the Mac OS X Server 10.3.4 that I am using blocks at the volume level by node. It would seem to preclude my using this hardware unless I devote another machine to being an NFS server for the shared storage. I'm looking for possible kernel tricks to get this to work.
Jeremiah
Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.3.4)

According to Oracle's white paper on RAC:
The type of disk storage used can be network attached storage (NAS), storage area network (SAN), or SCSI disk.
It does go on to say:
Alternatively Oracle supports the use of raw devices and some cluster file systems such as Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS) which is available on Windows, Linux and Solaris
I suppose if Oracle is taking over the raw device, support might be possible, but OCFS is not available for Mac OS X.

• Multiple applications on Same PC

I am trying to run 2 applications which access different cards at the same time. One is doing a continuous analog input, the other is doing a finite analog acquisition. In that scenario, I am getting messages that either say "Acquisition already in progress" or "Unable to access Nidaq, load the driver".
I tried making a simple program that did constant reads and running them against separate cards at the same time. That worked without error, but when I shut them down and went back to the original app., it gives me "transfer is already in progress for the specified resource, or the operation is not allowed because the device is in the process of performing transfers, possibly with differn"
To answer the obvious question, yes, I
did verify that each application ws talking to a separate card.
Have you had any experience with different applications interfering with each other? This is going to be a major issue for me.
My environment is: Windows 2000, Nidaq 6.9.2, ComponentWorks 3.01, VB 6.0

Derek;
That is happening because you are probably doing a synchronous acquisition. When setting up a synchronous acquisition, the execution of the VI get stuck inside the AI Read.vi till the buffer of data is ready to be read.
The way to go about that is to set up two asynchronous acquisition tasks. You can get examples on that at Search Examples->I/O Interfaces->Data Acquisition->Analog Input->DAQ Occurrences.
Hope this helps.

• How to avoid multiple users accessing same test data via parameterization in LR??

i am using LR11.5, i have the following test data:
TestData
1
2
3
4
5
when i run this script from Controller with 3 users LR picks it as user1->1, user2->1, user3->1
How do i achieve this case: user1->1, user2->2, user3->3 ??
Any help would be great.

I have a related question. i created 2 websites/domains then i went to users and created 2 seperate "network" users then i went to ftp and selected each website and added only user A to site A and user B to site B. what's weird is that when i try to ftp using either of the users it seems to land on the same site. i looked at shared security for the folders and it only shows user a on site a folder and user b on site b folders. am i doing somehitng wrong or is this how it works in mountain lion server? i just want to give the domain owner ftp access so they can manage their files and only thier files. i also had to turn on open directory so that it would not create a local user but a network user. do i need to turn that off and just deal with having a bunch of local users as ftp user? i want to host multiple websites on the server and NO users remote on to server besides ftp.
edit 1: i only have 1 IP running on the server which i don't think it has any affect on this but thought i mention it :-)
edit 2: i just noticed one more thing that may help. i used filezilla to remote in using both users, one at a time. it seems to allow both users in but then it shows same directories. i then created a file using the one that was not supposed to have acces and it never sows up. but if i remote desktop to server i can see the new file in the correct folder. so it may have something to d o with the directory listing.
