Can my mac which has a software version of 10.5.8 upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion 10.6.8?
can my mac which has a software version of 10.5.8 upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion 10.6.8?
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether further updates are required.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.8. How do I upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion??? Help please!
http://www.apple.com/osx/specs See if your computer is compatible. Then, call Apple and buy Snow Leopard. Make a backup, insert the install DVD and upgrade. Finally, update Snow Leopard, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion

I need the booklet option on a printer (laser or inkjet) but am unable to find with a driver for my imac os10.8.3
So from your post I would assume that you have a file consisting of separate pages, such as a eight page Word document, and you want to be able to print this as a booklet. Do you want the booklet folded and saddle stitched as well?
I've seen this facitlity on copier-based office devices that have a mechanical saddle-finisher/booklet unit. But I have not seen a consumer product with the same.
If you are happy to fold the printed pages into a booklet, and you don't have more than four pages so stapling is not necessary, then there could be software available that will change the page order and print the individual pages in a 2-up mode in the correct order (ie pages 1 & 4 on the outside and pages 2 & 3 on the inside). A quick search found Create Booklet for Mac. -
I have been editing a document on my MacBook Pro and iPad, which has the newer versions of Pages. Now, I cannot open on My MacBook. It says I need a newer version of OS. However, I'm not showing a newer version being availabe!!! Can anyone help???
That is Pages for iPad v2.0, which Pages '09 v4.3 can't read.
You need to either stick with the older version of Pages on the iPad or get Pages 5 for the Mac which is only available if you are running OSX 10.9 Mavericks.
Unfortunately that is not the end of your woes because Apple has made iCloud convert the files to Pages 5 now, and Pages 5 has over 90 features deleted on top of doing a shocking job of converting older Pages files.

Is MAC OS X v10.6.8 same as MAC OS X Snow Leopard. Since i want to download MAC OS X LION can it be downloaded on my mac which has MAC OS X v10.6.8 ??
Yes, assuming you can run Lion, & can deal with no more Save or Save As... functions...
Lion/101.7 System requirements
• x86-64 processor (Macs with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)
• At least 2GB of memory, (I say 4GB)
• Latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), with the Mac App Store installed
• At least 4GB of disk space for downloading, (I say 40GB at least)
Like Snow Leopard, Lion does not support PowerPC-based Macs (e.g., Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, iMacs (G3-G5), eMacs).
Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications. -
I just updated my pages and now it won't load. This is on my iPad. The first version which has the latest version it can have 5.1 or something like that. I am trying to open a document and am worried that if I uninstall and reinstall I will lose all my documents
I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. I hope that the reinstall fixes it without losing everything. Please advise!!! Yes, I am in panic mode.

Can I import iWork from my Mac, which has Snow Leopard, to my MacBook Air, which has Mountain Lion?
I would appreciate any advice on the intricacies of operating with Snow Leopard on my main computer and Mountain Lion on my MacBook Air.I'm not sure there are any intricacies except you can't use iCloud to keep the two things synced. It would be mostly contacts, Safari bookmarks, Calendars, notes, etc.
Also, iCloud allows saving iWork documents in the Cloud, so you can access them on both systems. That would not be available for the old Mac.
The two OSes are similar enough that it wouldn't be too difficult to work between the two, but there will be differences in using the Finder (contextual menu changes)
I thought I would have more, but I've been off Snow Leopard for so long now, I'll leave this for someone who is currently operating like that or recently switch to Mountain Lion from SL. -
Tried to buy Aperture 3 and got an error message Aperture can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because Mac OS X version 10.7.2 or later is required. You can update Mac OS X using Software Update. Problem is, I had already updated my IMac to Lion OS
iPhoto 9.3 requires OS X 10.7.4 now. You can use your actual version of iPhoto or upgrade to Lion (or wait to Mountain Lion)

how do i install office for mac 2008 to my new i mac which has no optical drive. I have the Office discs and product key
You could purchase any commonly available external USB DVD/CD writer, such as the excellent LG brand units sold on Amazon, for about $30 US. I've used an LG writer for years to save wear and tear on my older Superdrive.

My Mac has a OS X operating system. (10.6.8) How can I upgrade its system to Mountain Lion so I can then add the ICloud? Also, does the ICloud include virus protection for files already on my Mac?
You can purchase and download Mountain Lion in the App Store (in your 'Applications' folder), then just run the installer: however you should first check that Mountain Lion can indeed run on your Mac. Please see this page:
http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
You might also want to look at this page to see whether any vital applications will be adversely affected:
http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
In particular note that PPC applications such as AppleWorks will not run on Mountain Lion since Rosetta is not included and can't be added. -
I have an iMac with version 10.5.8 Mac OS X, can i upgrade to the latest Mountain Lion S X from the Apple web page.

Is there a manual I can print for the Airport Utility Software Version 5.5.3 for Windows?
If there is, I can't seem to find it anywhere (in the Software, by using Google, etc).I dont' believe there were manuals out there for different versions of the utility. That would be quite a few different manuals.
There are different manuals for the different base stations however...
