Can no longer connect to wireless router after upgrading to iTunes 9.2

My wireless connection was fine (using MacBook). After upgrading iTunes, I can not longer connect to router/modem wirelessly - am tethered with an ethernet cable. Spent 1 1/2 hours on phone with AT&T support reseting the passwords, security, etc. A PC laptop accepts password and can connect. My iPhone still can connect. But my MacBook (OS X 10.6) will not recognize my password for the modem/router. Everything has been re-booted and reset to original settings. Also, I received an iPad yesterday and it won't accept the password for our home wireless network. The password is correct because I am using it on other devices that are connecting to the network. Any ideas?

Yes, but the issue is not with Lion directly; there seems to be something with the upgraded system, perhaps a legacy setting or pref... I've scoured the system to no avail. I'm actually about to reinstall 10.6 - wasted too much time on this issue.
Thanks for your help.

  • Can no longer connect to certain shares after upgrading to 10.8.4

After upgrading to the latest version of Mountain Lion, I can no longer access certain shared volumes. I have one machine running 10.4.11 and I can connect to its hard drive. Another machine on my network runs 10.5.8, and I can now only connect to the built-in hard drive. There are also 2 Firewire drives connected to that (10.5.8) machine that I can no longer connect to.
When I use "Connect to Server" and enter the AFP address of the 10.5.8 machine, I get a full list of "available" shares, but if I select one of the FireWire volumes, I just get a spinning "rosette" for several minutes and then a failure message. I also have an OS 9 machine that I can no longer connect to on the same network.
I already read the "Connecting to Legacy Systems" notice and still no joy after following the instructions.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

No NAS other than an Apple one includes native support for AFP. They all use an open source package called Netatalk that is junk. Many years ago Apple deprecated the old security modules that Netatalk uses.
The easiest solution is to hack up Lion so that it will connect with the old security protocol. Do a search for "lion dhx2" or something like that. Another option is to update your NAS to a version of Netatalk that includes support for DHX2. That is easier said than done. Netatlk isn't as "open" as other open source packages.

  • Can no longer connect to SMB server after upgrading to Lion

We have a MacBook Pro that was running 10.6.8. The user upgraded to Lion, and can no longer connect to a Windows 2008 file server. (We have two offices connected through a hardware tunnel, but i do not think this is the issue.)
We have tried to connect in the Finder (smb://[email protected]/). It asks for usr / pass, and then just hangs on "Connecting to server"
We can ping, have tested these credentials on other computers, and tried other credentials on this computer, to no avail. Furthermore, we installed a fresh copy of Lion on another computer, and successfully connected, so I don't think the issue is with Lion itself.
There must be something from the previous install that did not "upgrade" properly, but I don't know which file / setting it could be. It is system-wide setting, as we have also tried another user account on this same Mac.
We've also run Onyx to fix permissions, clean out all caches, etc.
Any idea what file i can change, modify, or delete?
Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Can no longer connect to Airport Express with upgrade to iTunes 10.1

Since I upgraded to iTunes 10.1 I can no longer connect to my Airport Express (unknown error-15000). Another computer on my betwork running an older version of iTunes still works on the Airport Express.
Any ideas? I have tried to uninstall and reinstall airport express with no success.

Rather than disabling the firewall, try making sure you've got exceptions in it for BonJour. Although the following document is about a different error message, the instructions in there are worth trying. (At step 7, make sure there's an exception for BonJour as well.)

  • Can no longer connect to network server after upgrading dsl modem

While I was working on a file that resides on a network server, the router was powered down so on reboot it would communicate with a dsl modem . After the router was power up I could not reconnect to the server.
    I have internet access
The mini can see the server in the finder and the server sees the mini
This is not a wireing issue.
When I try to connect I get this message:
"The file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP Protocol. You cannot connect"
The server is an old mac running os 9.1. I've read that 9.1 is not compatible with 10.4.8. But it worked just fine this morning.
There are other macs (cubes) running 9.2 I can connect to them.
I've tried restarting and logging on as a differernt user. no change

    Thanks for your help
I made no changes to the mini or the server.
The router was shut down then on restart the new (replaced modem) was configured by using another mac on the network (not the file server)
Once the router and modem were online again, other macs running 9.2 were accessing the file server as usual. The mini was not.
I had been working on a file that resides on the server. I was not warned that the router was going to be shut down. When I saved the file I got the beach ball then error message.
It'll be next week before I'm in the office agin. I'll report back then. Thanks

  • MacBook can't see my home wireless network after upgrade to OSX 10.8.5

After upgrading to OSX 10.8.5, my MacBook does not detect any wireless nertworks. My iPad and iPhone work fine, my router has been rebooted, WiFi is turned on, and the ethernet connection is how I am writing this message to you via broadband. There are a half dozen wireless networks in range (according to my iPhone) but the MacBook cannot find the router I am sitting next to. Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

It appears an SMC reset was required:
HT5815 I've just done the 10.8.5 update on my MacBook Pro end of 2008, and WiFi don't work after reboot... Impossible to activate it...
Here is your other post: MacBook can't see my home wireless network after upgrade to OSX 10.8.5
If you reply to it and marked it "solved", perhaps with a link to that post (copy and paste it, or just say you performed the SMC reset) it will help others find a solution. Thanks!

  • Linksys Easy Link Advisor for WRT310N Wireless Router after upgrading to Windows 7 (64bit)

I can't reinstall Linksys Easy Link Advisor for WRT310N Wireless Router after upgrading to Windows 7 (64bit).  When I went to Linksys site for solution for new drivers, it asked me for Hardware Version Number.  This model doesn't show one.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

Sabertooth is right. If you are able to go online from your Router then you don't need to install LELA software on your Computer.

I think you are sailing in uncharted waters with those kind of modifications.
I am only guessing, but if you have not already done so,  do a PRAM reset and then trash your FCP preferences.

My understanding is the Mac is doing a ram/hardware test during the grey screen, if the card you added had additional memory, then it is very likely the test will take longer - but I am no hardware expert.

  • IBook can no longer connect to wireless network

I have a wireless network set up in my home using a Linksys wireless router. While it has worked fine in the past, I can no longer connect to it with my G4 iBook running 10.3.9. It shows up in my network connections with a strong signal but when I open a browser it can't connect to the internet. When I try to open 'Internet Connect' to explore the issue I get the spinning beach ball and have to Force Quit. When I open the network status window, I get a message for Airport that says "Airport is connected to the network 'name of my network'. Airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet".
I have an iMac G5 connected to the router through ethernet cable and it works fine. I have an iMac G4 connected wirelessly to the same wireless router and it works fine. I have a Dell laptop that can also connect wirelessly to the wireless router with no problem.
It appears something is corrupt with the Internet Connect utility?
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Doug

What type of IP address are you getting? If it starts with 169, it indicates that your iBook can not connect to the DHCP server provided by the router.
Have you enabled the MAC address filtering on the router? If so, remember that you must add the AirPort MAC address for your iBook.
If you have a correct IP address, perhaps it is a DNS issue. See KB 106798, Mac OS: Troubleshooting "A connection failure has occurred", "The specified server could not be found" or Similar Messages.

  • TV no longer connects to wireless internet after installation of Airport Time Capsule

TV no longer connects to wireless Wi-Fi internet after installation of AirPort Time Capsule.

I am having a similar problem with a new TIme Capsule. The wifi on the Time Capsule was working fine for months with all devices, iPhone 4s, iPad Air, iMac Air, Mac mini, and vizio smart TVs.  After a recent software update the Time capsule wifi no longer connects to the smart tvs or the iPhones. It still connects to the mac mini, iPad and iMac Air. I do NOT think the software update timing was just coincidental. But I have not found any information or other users confirming a similar problem on the Apple support site.

  • WRT54G ver. 6 can no longer connect to the internet after reset

I reset my WRT54G ver. 6 to clear the password, and now I can no longer connect to the internet with it. I can see the router itself from my PC, but that is all. I've followed the directions here for connection problems, but I can't seem to get an IP Address for it in the Web Configuration tool. Anybody have any thoughts?

Since you reset your router, you need to reconfigure it back again. try the online utility that automates the configuration. download Easy Link Connect utility at www.linksys.com/connect then download "Netset" and follow instructions.
if not Easy Link connect didnt work then you need to do the configuration manually.
    1. check physical connection modem should be connected wired to internet port of the router then PC to numbered ports of the router.
    2. Brighthouse i believe is cable connection, right? try power cycle your devices (turn off modem and router then turn on modem 1st then router next). check if your online.
    3. if not. check PC ip. click "start" then "run" type in "cmd" then press "OK". the command prompt should pop-up. type "ipconfig" and check IP and gateway. you should be getting an ip: 192.168.1.x and gateway: 192.168.1.1
    4. access router. open IE, then type in http://192.168.1.1 on address bar.
    5. you will be prompted with username and PW. "admin" is the default password. on setup, just below are subtabs. select "MAC address clone". in it, set "mac clone" to "enable" then click on "clone" then "save settings".
    6. power cycle devices again. try to go online
note: if you dont have latest firmware. try updating if needed

  • P2055dn no longer connects via wireless router

I recently replaced my wireless router, an ancient Airport Extreme, with a Linksys WRT120N, not exactly state of the art but still an improvement. At first I couldn't connect to my p2055dn, which I plugged into the router. It no longer showed up as a Bonjour printer when I tried to add it. Then I changed the network mode setting on the router from Wireless-N to Mixed, which got the printer to show up as a Bonjour printer. I then added it and all was well. Now, however, the printer is again not showing up at all. I can still print directly with an ethernet cable to the printer but not wirelessly. The only thing that has changed is that I had to reinstall OS X 10.10.3, but I don't see why that should have changed anything, particularly since the printer is no longer showing up on our other computers. My inclination is that the problem has to do with the router settings but maybe there's something I can configure on the printer to get it to play nice with the router? Any suggestions very welcome.

    OK..
I don't know if this is going to work for all 3 of you or not. Josephlee this might work for you, since you have AT&T DSL. Then again, it might or might not work for any of you. I am currently a BellSouth DSL customer. I had to set my modem to "bridge mode" before being able to use my Linksys WRT54G to access the internet. I can't explain how to set your DSL modem to "bridge mode." Your internet service provider will have to do that. If any of you can get your modem set to "bridge mode" I can give you some advice...
If you can get your DSL modem (Verizon, AT&T, Bellsouth, etc.) set to "bridge mode" this should help you out. By setting your modem to bridge mode, this allows your Linksys router to control all internet access. Basically it opens up your  DSL modem to allow any and all internet access straight through it, just like opening a water line. If your modem is set to bridge mode, let's continue...
Open Internet Explorer or whatever web browser you use. Go to http://192.168.1.1 to access your Linksys router's dialog. Hopefully you know the user name and password. The default (factory settings) are:
    username:                <<< leave blank
    password: admin
If you make it this far..
You will be at the Setup/Basic Setup tab
Internet Connection type you want is PPPoE
User Name: is the current login for your DSL account
Password: is the current password for your DSL account
(Remember that your router [not DSL modem] is controlling your access)
Select: Keep Alive and leave default (Not Connect on Demand)
Click on Save (and follow on screen instructions)
Next navigate to the Status tab
Once there, you should see Login Status. It should be Disconnected.
    Click the Connect button.
Click Save if prompted. (and follow on screen instructions)
    Now.. close ALL browser windows.
Re-open your web browser and check for internet connectivity. Some computers may require a reboot. My Win XP Pro doesn't.
I pray that helps you guys out!

  • WiFi clients suddenly can no longer connect to WRT320N router

I have a WRT320N router that I have been using for about 3 months now.  I have a mixture of B, G & N clients using Win 2000, Win XP, Win 7, Mac OS X and Linux OSs.  This is my home network.  Everything worked fine until yesterday when, suddenly, none of my wireless clients could connect to the router.  Wired clients were fine.  I tried rebooting machines, resetting the router etc... without success.  I called Linksys tech support and had the tech troubleshoot it.  He got it working again by changing the Wireless Channel Width setting from "Auto (20Mhz or 40Mhz)" to "20Mhz only".  He also changed the channel setting from "Auto" to "9".  This works fine except for my N client where before I was connecting to the router at 240-300Mbps, I am now connecting at 78-117Mbps, less then 1/2 the speed I was connecting at previously.  I called tech support again today and discussed it with a diffrerent tech.  He told me that if my N client was getting over 100Mbps that I was within the specs of the router and that no Linksys router could connect faster than 200Mbps.  Huh?
My N adapter is a Netgear USB WN111.  The Linksys tech says that maybe that adapter can "suck" (his technical term) more bandwidth from the router than the router should be capable of and suggested I call Netgear to verify that.
My point is that everything worked fine for the past 3 months at 240+Mbps and now suddenly it doesn't work.  The tech says there must be some sort of interference which seems like a possibility but I live out in the country with no close neighbors and I haven't brought in anything new recently that would explain the sudden problem.
I think the router developed a hardware problem which is causing it to not perform as well as it did.  Anybody got ant other ideas?

I would suggest you to reflash/upgrade the router's firmware, reset the router after that and reconfigure it from the scratch..You can download the firmware from www.linksysbycisco.com/downloads.On the linksys setup page, click on the Administration tab to upgrade the firmware.

  • Printer will no longer connect to wireless router.

My printer won't connect to my router.....I disconnected a Vonage phone from my router, never touched the printer, but since disconnecting the phone, the printer no longer works....I've shut my cable box, router, computer and printer down and re-connected in that order....I've attempted multiple times to connect to the WPS from the printer both by pushbutton and PIN....and I've been unable to find anything on line to help with troubleshooting...any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hi @MKhelp
Thank you for reaching out to the HP Forums, I'd be happy to help you work towards getting your 3054 back online.
I can help you put the printer on your wireless network without software. I use this method for iPads, iPhones and other devices that do not have software.
Restore the network defaults on the printer by pushing the wireless button, going to settings, and then restore defaults. The wireless button should then start flashing, this means it is now in autowireless mode.
Connect to the network that the printer is broadcasting. It is usually HP-setup-3054 and then part of the MAC address. The wireless light will still be flashing on the printer at this point, this is normal since this is not an actual adhoc connection.
Load up the Embedded Web Server (EWS) in the browser on your mobile device. The default IP for autowireless is 192.168.223.1.
Go to the network tab along the top of the EWS.
Click on Wireless Setup Wizard along the lefthand side to begin configuring the printer.
You have now completed the Wireless configuration, follow the next 3 steps to start printing.
The blue wireless light will go solid, put the Mac back on your own network.
Add the printer to the System Preferences.
    Print
