Can nolonger watch YouTube movies with my new Safari 2.0.4

I recently went from an eMac with 10.3.9 - Jaguar, to an iMac with 10.4.8 Tiger. My Safari is 2.0.4.
While I was able to watch all YouTube movies, I can nolonger do so. The movie stops about 5 seconds after watching a movie. It behaves as though I already watched the movie.
I did a search to see if I could find similar incidents, and I can see that others may have experienced this problem, but no resolution was ever made.
I run the disk utility almost daily, so there are no permissions that need repairing. I use Foxfire to watch the YouTube movies with no problem, so it appears to be a Safari thing. Not really a 'Safari' thing, more than a Safari 2.0.4 thing - at least it seems that way.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

EIther way, it did answer my question, so I will mark it as such.
I think that if the others who had the same problem who posted before me will be able to solve their problem as well.

I remember that they said if the Cc were encoded in quicktimes you can see the CC but if it's flash you can't. So I figured it's impossible to watch YouTube videos with CC. However, if anyone knows another way to watch with CC on YouTube, tell me please. Thanks.

Can I watch a movie with weak wifi?

I want to bring my Apple TV (3) tot my mom's house so we can rent/watch a movie from the Apple TV store. However, the wifi is a little weak in that corner of the house and the router is too far away for a cable. So I'm wondering if it's going to work... I know I need a good home network to watch my own content from a pc on tv but is it the same with direct rentals from ATV?
Of course I can just try it and bring a backup, but if anyone has any experience with it, I'd love to hear from you.

I just bought my new iMac today for the first time. Still getting used to it. I've noticed when I watch a YouTube video, it says missing plug-ins then click on this yellow bar that appears, but when I do firefox/safari can't find what it was looking for in the end. I've already updated my iMac, from the top left corner of the screen. I'm really confused right now... I'm running verison 10.7.4 OS X is that helps.

I can't seem to run youtube videos on my toshiba L750/OLN laptop. Everytime I try to run a video, the youtube screen stays black and an error message appears. Also in the right corner, it saids something about Adobe Flash Player not being supported by Toshiba Media control Plug in. Please help, I've tried different browsers and the same problem still exists. I've also tried disabling Media controller and reinstalling adobe, but nothing seems to work at the moment.

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
What can I do ..??

Thanks restoring and restarting didn't fix my problem - i have started it fresh and still it doesn't work. Basically I press ONCE on the remote, after the machine has not had any commands for 10 minutes, and the cursor skips from one end of the menu to the other - so I can't choose network or update software etc - I sometimes manage to stop it randomly in the middle of the menu if I press on a command in the middle of the cursor skipping all the menu steps...not sure what the problem is but I have basically not used my brand new apple tv since I bought it for that reason! I should call Apple support I suppose! grrrr hate wasting time with stuff like this!

Try using VLC or installing both QuickTime 7 and Perian. Nothing will work with all AVIs; some of them require codecs not available for Mac OS X.

Yes. although you do occasionally hear about people having problems. If your trip is less than 24 hours, it might be a good idea to start the movie while you're connected to WiFi (which will start the rental clock ticking) and pause it. You're not supposed to have to do this, but some people swear it prevents the occasional glitch. I've only rented a couple of movies and they worked find on the plane.

I would suggest using SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE and choose 1920x1080 (if your source material supports this).
That should work well in YouTube.
If you want to go further with custom QuickTime settings, here are some that should work, but in my experience, it will be no better than using SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE.
follow the instructions below to create a .mov video that will work on YouTube:
In iMovie, select Share > Export Using QuickTime
Next, you may want to check your Options to verify that the following settings are correct:Video settings
Compression Type: H.264
Frame Rate: 30 is preferred. 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97 are also acceptable.
Data Rate: Automatic
Key Frames: Automatic
Frame Reordering: Unchecked
Audio/Sound settings
Format: AAC
Click Show advanced settings and choose Constant Bit Rate as encoding strategy
Other settings
Size: Choose the original size of the video

Have adobe flash 11.9.900 but can't watch online movies.

Since a windows update a couple of days ago I can't watch online movies. I have 64 bit windows 8 and adobe flash 11.9.900. The screen says I have to install adobe flash 10.0 or higher in order to stream a film. I have checked and I have the most recent player.
I have also done every step on the adobe flash troubleshooting page including managing add-ons, disabling active-x, removing cache etc...no change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, fed up with windows 8 problems.

Just followed the link and I have been on that page before and have seen the animation but this time I couldn't see it. Went to check if activex filtering was on and it was, even though I'd set it as off. It's like the computer keeps changing what's on and off at will.
On youtube, the message install adobe flash 10.0 etc comes up. On any flash games (just clicked on random site to see if it would work) it says I need to install flash. On project free tv again says install flash.
Using ie10.
