Can not call bean class from JSp/Tomcat 5.5

hello everyone...
i m using one bean class Parser which is called by discussion.jsp page. i put class file in webapps/grid/WEB-INF/classes and JSP page is in webapps/grid/. The whole combination is working fine for tomcat 3.3.2 but not working properly in tomcat 5.5.
Error is as follow...
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
An error occurred at line: 38 in the jsp file: /discussion.jsp
Generated servlet error:
Parser cannot be resolved or is not a typeplease help me....
Thank in Advance

You still need to import the class from the default package. As a word of advice you should put the class in a package. The later versions of Tomcat do not play well with bean classes that are not in packages.

  • Can't retrieve bean value from jsp!

    Here's the chain of events for my web app:
    JSP form (get info from user) -> forwarding jsp (uses bean to save info submitted to form)-> servlet (retrieves info from DB) -> JSP (presents DB info to user by populating values in text fields from original form)
    Right now, I can access all the values submitted to the first JSP from my servlet. However, after my servlet retrieves the info from a db and stores it in a bean and forwards the request (using requestdispatcher) to the 2nd JSP, I can't get the values from the bean from the 2nd jsp. I was able to use the bean to store the information submitted to the original JSP, however.
    Here's some relevant code:
    FROM FORWARDING JSP (which saves user-submitted info in bean)
    <jsp:useBean id="fxFormBean" class="fxmatcher.FxFormBean" scope="request"/>
    <jsp:setProperty name="fxFormBean" property="*" />
    <jsp:forward page="/FxMatcher" />
    FROM LAST JSP (which should populate form fields)
    header stuff:
    <jsp:useBean id="fxFormBean" class="fxmatcher.FxFormBean" scope="session"/>
    info retrieval:
    <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="fx_key" value="<%= fxFormBean.getFx_key() %>">
    I wrote this JSP based on the example given here: http://www.jsptut.com/Editing.jsp, but I'm not getting the value from the bean. The result JSP just has value="".
    I'm pretty sure that my servlet is saving the info to bean correctly, but here's the code anyways:
    //retrieves info from DB
    FxFormBean fx = (FxFormBean) request.getAttribute("fxFormBean");
    fx.setFx_key (traderKey);
    fx.setAa_block(agent_block);
    fx.setAddition_to (additional_to);
    log("trader key: [" + fx.getFx_key() + "]"); //debugging code
    My debugging code did print out the correct info, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the bean or the servlet.
    I would appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

    The first JSP puts the bean in the request, the servlet retrieves the bean from the request and updates it but in the second JSP you set the scope to session:
    <jsp:useBean id="fxFormBean" class="fxmatcher.FxFormBean" scope="session"/>
    So the second JSP is looking in the wrong place for your bean. Change the scope in the second JSP to request:
    <jsp:useBean id="fxFormBean" class="fxmatcher.FxFormBean" scope="request"/>

  • Can we call Java class from LiveCycle Process?

    hi..
    I have a general query, is it possible to call customeized java class from Workbench Process?
    I found dat we can invoke a web service... is there some operation like that for calling a java class...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ambika

    Yes.
    You can use the Script service and put your Java code in there
    Or build your own component, which is really a Java pojo, and deploy it to LiveCycle. See http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/programLC/programmer/help/000934.html.

  • Cant find bean class from jsp page using Tomcat 4

    Hi
    I have searched numerpus forums and seen many posts from people who seem to have the same problem however none of the solutions seem to work for me.
    I have a jsp page which is trying to call a bean method however I get an error
    saying that the class for the bean cannot be found. I have :
    1. put the class in a package called kolaBean under
    C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\ROOT\begjsp-ch01\WEB-INF\classes\kolaPackage
    2. included the package statement in the java file for the bean
    3. included an empty constructor in the java file for the bean
    4. I have declared the above constructor as public (is this necessary?)
    5. used the full package name:
    kolaPackage.kolaBean bakedBean = new kolaPackage.kolaBean();
    6. imported import java.beans.*; (is this necessary ?)
    7. still got the same error...
    Any pointers really really appreciated
    Thanks
    Kola

    in reply to David Rons email:
    Is this a fresh install of tomcat? If so, it could be a configuration
    problem.Yes it is
    Is the class public in the package (I forget that all the time)?Yes it is. I have also declared the constructor to be public is this
    necessary?
    What's the error message?here is the error message:
    An error occurred between lines: 11 and 14 in the jsp file:

  • Java server page compiler can not find a class defined in a java bean file

    I have a jsp file using java bean. The java bean class file is uploaded into the server and also the directory to this java bean .class file is included in the Unix environment CLASSPATH. This .jsp file is registered and should be compiled and excecuted automatically.
    WHen I try to invoke this .jsp file, the jsp compiler error, saying the class defined by java bean can not be found. I already include this path in teh CLASSPATH, I thought the jsp compiler will go to the right place according to CLASSPATH to find the referenced class.
    Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong or what should I do in order to allow jsp compiler to find the class refrenced by .jsp file and defined by java bean file?
    Thank you so much

    hello friends,
    i am also facing the same problem of not finding bean class files for both jsp and servlet though it is placed in same package. the problem of not finding bean class file for jsp is experienced in Tomcat server only whereas in Blazix, there is no such error and the file is compiled and runs successfully.
    i have checked Tomcat properly. there is no error in its configuration also servlets without the use of bean files run successfully. so please can anybody guide me about what is the problem and how to solve it. plz its urgent .

    Did you package your JSPs in a WAR and your EJBs in a JAR and package the
              WAR and JAR in an EAR? That is how to do it in 6.0. Works well.

  • Calling web service from JSP

    Can anyone help??
    I'm trying to call a webservice from within a JSP and i havent a clue how its done,
    i have my IF and Impl and Client Coded and my stubs generated and service deployed and running, but i cannot figure out how to call the service from my JSP web-app.
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi ,
    Its easy to call a WS from jsp what you can do is this. Think in manner that u will be keeping the client classes on a particular container, then in same container you can refrence the classes and can invoke service through a jsp..this works in my case.. it depends what kind of client do u want to create may be static or proxy or DII

    Luckily they don't so it's really not a problem after all.

  • I can not call the webservice?!?!?

    Hello,
    I want to call a webservice, but the Inputfields are all disabled. I have used a simple Weahterservice where I can input a city.
    I can not use it.
    Also I have follow the steps in the weblog: /people/anilkumar.vippagunta2/blog/2005/07/20/developing-web-application-without-writing-single-line-of-code-my-first-web-log
    But there is the same problem. I can not use the input-fields. In this example I have create the output for the state of delivery. When I push the button, the request is shown on the form: "Please enter correct from email address to send this message". So I think, that the webservice work.
    What is my mistake? If anybody want to help me, I can send my project-files. It's only the usage of the webservice.
    Thanks,
    Peter
