Can not open app store on macbook pro/imac after installing Mavericks
I have just installed Mavericks on both a Macbook Pro and an iMac. I use the same Appleid on both.
But now I can not open App Store
I have tried clicking on the App Store symbol in the dock, starting it from the program folder in a Finder window, and starting it from the Apple menu. The result is the same: Nothing happens except that the menubar that was active before the attempt becomes inactive (dark). There is no App Store Window, and no App Store menubar.
I have one idea why this happens. I removed the "OS X Mavericks" from the list of downloads/purchases in App Store by misstake before I installed Mavericks. If that is the problem how can I solve it?
Ok, now it works again. I got a Notice that I could update some applications and I answered that I wanted to do that. Then, when I tried to start App Store the menubar showed up but no window. I choosed "Windows - Minimize", exited App Stored and started it again. And now it works - on both computers!

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet

I can't open app store on MacBook Pro
I've been to the apple store once and no luck. I downloaded and installed the combo fix and again no luck. Nothing seems to work :/ . What seems to be the problem and what can I do to make it open? I only used it once, after that it never opened again.

IF you get app update notifications, are you able to use the App Store from the Updates Tab? Try closing the App Store and reset your iPad. You will not lose any data.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
Can not open App Store, messages, contacts, face time, contacts, photo booth etc... only safari, iTunes, mail can be opened.... help me.
Lanny here are the startup key sequences on wired keyboards to know for future reference:
SHIFT - safe boot.
command-S single user mode to run fsck
command-R to run a recovery boot.
command-option-P-R to reset the PRAM on Macs younger than 4 years, or whose PRAM battery is younger.
command-option-O-F to boot into open firmware.
D key to boot hardware test on an Intel Mac - for pre-July 20, 2011 Macs, this means having the original installer discs.
Option key - Startup Manager.
Option = Alt key on Windows keyboards.
Command key may be Windows key on Windows keyboards, or cloverleaf or Apple logo key on Apple keyboards.

Try this:
1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo. -

I feel your pain. My firm's IT guy finally found a solution, no thanks to Apply or iTunes, though it evidently is/was a Windows issue. Go to "My Computer," click "Properties." in the "System" window, click on "Advanced system settings," that brings up the "System Properties" window. Click on the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Environment Variables" button. Find and highlight the "Path" variable in the "System Variables" section. Click "Edit" to bring up the "Edit System Variable" window. Finally, place your mouse cursor at the very end of the "Variable Value," and modify the variable value by adding the following (EXACTLY) to the end:

My macbook pro crashed after installing maverick. I lost all my photos however the iPhone iPhoto app still has these photos so how can i access the package contents to recover these photos?
We'll need to know more to beable to help. Do you want to try to restore your photos from your iPhone to your Mac, or try to recover the photos from the old iPhoto Library on your Mac?
What is the situation of your Mac now? In hat way did it crash? A hardware problem with the drive? Does the system not start properly? Does iPhoto not launch? Do you still have the iPhoto Library on your mac or a backup, so we could try to rescue the photos there?
What versions of iPhoto are on your iPhone and your Mac?

On the iPhone you cannot access the "package contents" - IOS hides the file system from the users. To restore photos from your phone share all iPhoto photos to your Camera Roll, that are not already in the Camera Roll, and then connect the iPhone via USB and import the Camera Roll to iPhoto or Image Capture. To retrieve photos from a corruptrd iPhoto Library on your Mac we need to know the version number and more about the "crash" you experienced, the state of your mac, the system, the data. Please post back with more details.

I can move curser across screen on track board but cannot open anything ,even if I push the enter key..also the bottom corner of battery pack where it locks in is slightly lifted. It turns on and off , gets mail but nothing else as I can not open any program. Including about my Mac.. I was using snow leopard.

How do I reset my MacBook Pro (2008) after installing Mavericks?
Hello,
My MacBook Pro is very slow, which could be due to age.
However, before I just get a new one, I want to try to reset it and basically clean it properly. I have never done that and hope that this could be the solution to the issue.
However, I simply do not know how to do it.
I tried reinstalling Mavericks but it does not offer this option..

IngkeYou need the original discs that shipped with your MacBook Pro in 2008. If you don't have them, you can call Apple (phone # at bottom of page) and, with your serial number handy, order a new set. Cost will be about $25 including shipping & taxes, I believe.
Once you have your original discs, follow the instructions in Thomas Reed's -> How to prepare your Mac for sale. After you've completed those steps, you'll have a 'clean' MacBook Pro, ready to install updates, software, etc.

I can't open some of apps like iphoto, keynote, ilol(this is most important one).
If I trying to open, computer just shut down and restart.
Some people suggest me to format mac os x and reinstall so I did it but still doesn't work.
what should I do?

and this picture is the screen when my computer restart.Try booting into Safe Mode - restart whilst holding down the Shift key. It will take a bit longer to boot and your machine will not be as responsive as when you log in 'normally'. If you can open apps in Safe Mode, you might be having problems with some kernel extensions. Try Safe Mode first and then we'll look at the non-Apple kexts that may be loading.
