  • Sprint iPhone 5 can't send MMS to non-iPhone users.

I got an iPhone 5 and ever since I received it, I haven't been able to send pictures to anyone that doesn't have iMessage. I have restored it twice and reset the network settings and erased all the content and I even called Sprint, but they couldn't help me. Is this happening to anyone else? Any solutions out there?

Whilst iMessage and SMS use the same iOS interface they send differently and to identify which protocol is in use the messages are colour (color) coded.
iMessages sent between iOS and OSX devices are blue and are sent via the Internet.
Standard SMS messages are green and sent via traditional mobile networks.
What i expect all you Sprint users are sending/receiving are iMessages and NOT SMS.
You may need to check that Cellular Data is switched ON under
    Setting/General/Cellular
and the Send as SMS is ON under settings/Messages.
Also toggle iMessage off to see if that forces messaging over SMS.
Caveat there are some problems associated with SMS/MMS which are carrier/sim card related.
Some sIm cards provided by network carriers hide an important set of settings in iOS and this prevents you from manually altering certain settings necessary for sending SMS/MMS.
I don't know if Sprint are among those.

I have an iphone 4s unlocked with att prepaid plan (non-contract), everything was working perfect BUT since i update to IOS6 i can not send MMS to anybody has Android, i went to att technical center they said only apple store can fix the problem, i went to Apple store MANY times they could not fix it, so they gave me a new iphone 4s and they said they fixed it but they did not,iam so mad that's not fair, can somebody help me please.

The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it.  So I spoke to the so-called "support" people at Apple who successfully screwed up my contacts beyond repair.  I got a nice email from Apple asking me to rate the support I got.  I was actually civil and described the issue tactfully.  What do I get in return?  Nothing.  Not a damned thing!!  You're luck you've got me by the short hairs on a 2 year contract but I'm still tempted to throw this POS through the front window of the nearest Apple store!!  Not only will I be replacing this phone with a competitive product but I won't be buying anymore Apple crap.  I guess when you con 27 million people into believing your rhetoric and sales lies, you don't have to care whether some customers get screwed or not.  I'll be going back to Verizon and threatening legal action if they don't take this electronic dung heap back but I'm sure the teams of lawyers Apple and Verizon have on staff have insured that I have no rights in this matter and you're free to screw me anytime you please.  Sad. I used to love Apple as a company and your products.  Now you're just another Microsoft with more trendy looking junk.  I've had it with you.  If any of your executives are brave enough to talk to me, please contact me at your convenience.

  • TS5185 My IPAD will not send messages to non APPLE users.

Today, Christmas Day, while trying to send a message my IPAD wanted me to turn on iMessage. There was no option not to do this. After it was turned on I could no longer send messages to non Apple users. After reading online that I could set send SMS on my IPHONE I did. Now I guess it send everything as an SMS message. Now my IPAD will not send messages to non Apple users. I guess Apple wants us to pick our friends only if the use Apple products. This is about as stupid as it gets. They want us to only communicate with Apple users. The only other option is to turn the feature off. Why have iMessage in the first place.
So my situation is I can send SMS Messages on my IPHONE. I cannot send any messages to non Apple users on my IPAD and iMessages to my Apple users.
This kind of stupidity is why I switched from Windows to Apple in the first place. Don't they test anything out anymore at Apple?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think that you might be doing something wrong.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
To use Continuity for SMS and MMS with your iPhone and your Mac, iPad or iPod touch
Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch need to use iOS 8.1, and your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
Sign in to iMessage on your iPhone, your other iOS devices, and your Mac using the same Apple ID.
    On your iPhone:
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By, and add a check to both your phone number and email address.
Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.

  • HT3529 On ipad3, wifi only, how can I send messages to non iOS users?

On ipad3, wifi only, how can I send messages to non iOS users?
I have MacBook, and iPhone 4 as well

Your're wrong on the overly sensitive part. I couldn't care less about android or some other stuff that you are comparing, what i do care about... enough to take the time to explain, is that your view on things colors the choices you make.
You clearly state your decision making process and the marketing is doing their work on you.
You think in terms of comparisons and competitors and that will always get you. The truth is, I'm glad Apple finally focused on how "something makes you feel" with iOS 7. There is so much truth in that one sentence!
There is so much noise out there about screen size, n core processors and price comparisons you can never get a good feel of what the product really is. By the time you figure out you were taken on a marketing hike, a new model comes out and the story starts all over again. (think of the nokia 40 megapixel camera, or the quad core samsung, those are exagerations to impress the consumer) Imagine the size of the jpg's on that phone, all those megapixels with the quality of a phone camera, ridiculous. Soon we will have 12-core phones with 7 inch screens, and people being led into thinking you can do everything on it, "one thing to rule them all", buy now! I saw a woman on the metro the other day with a 6' phone, I swear the thing was almost half the size of her head.
It's almost 2014 and you are complaining you can't send sms(which is a 25 year old technology by the way) with this new device. All your friends are using outdated tech and because you want to talk to them you want outdated tech too. Sms is insecure, easily snooped upon and recorded, the carrier charges for it and charges more for international sms, and so on... and on... internet chat has been free since the 1990s and it's about time it got free on our phones too.
Just forget about it. Enjoy other people taking the decisions, you can't take yourself, for you. Trust them, see if it fits, care about life, act emotionally when you "feel" like it. You deserve that, you are human, take the feeling home with you, share it with others.
Who cares if it's the 2014 edition or quad core... I gave my old iPad 3 to my grandmother so I could call her on Facetime. I bought the iPad Air on a whim, I just "felt" I wanted it. After a couple of weeks she thought about asking me if she could call my brother in the UK too, and how much it would cost. I said it was free, and she looked at me in disbelief. She is now calling my brother weekly by herself... she is 78. Can you imagine that... all I did is give her my "old" iPad.
Buying the iPad Air was the single best decision of my life, not because of the size or the weight or even iOS 7 (i do enjoy them by the way) but because it made me give my old iPad to my grandmother.
She doesn't even understand how it works, I figured it would be too much useless stuff to mention... it just does! Here put your finger here and here, then tap the name... wait for him to answer. Unbelievable!!!
PS. I figured the best gift I can make is give my old Apple devices to people who would never in a million years buy one for themselves. You see them in shops, they are our mothers and friends... they look at the huge prices and they would never give that much to themselves, they feel they don't deserve it. They gave me money to buy all the useless cr@p I ever wanted in my youth, the least I could do is gift them my "old tech" to enrich their lives. Going to buy a 5S soon and give my 4S to someone for free, but it's going to be someone I care deeply about, deeply enough to change their lives.

  • Can not send e-mails after iOS5 upgrade

I upgraded my wifes iPhone to iOS 5. After the upgrade she can receive e-mails but can not send them. All the composed e-mails end up in her outbox. I click on the error and it says "The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.***.com" failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Setting>Mail, Contacts, Calenders."
    Anyone have any suggestions?

Go to Settings => Mail,Contacts,Calenders => select the account and may have to click account again => should be viewing username and password, Scroll down and Select - Outgoing Server => Tap on Primary Server => try entering Username and Password in there even though it says optional... Also try port 25 if that doesn't work and try toggling SSL on/off if that doesn't work.

  • Can't send pics to non iPhone users

Hi new to apple have new phone t mobile as carrier. Can't send photos in messages to non iPhone users which is most of my friends. Please advise

Unless your friends are using an iOS device with an active iMessage account set up on it, you can only use regular SMS texting and MMS through your cell service provider.
In your message settings, you will need to have "send as sms" enabled, and have the slider for SMS/MMS set to "ON".  If it still does not work, then you need to contact T-Mobile and tell them your MMS service does not seem to be functioning properly.

  • HT4993 I can not send mms or email photos

Ive been on carrier data and wifi. Ive reset the phone mulitipul times. Ive turned on data roaming. Photos still upload to facebook and the like but i cant email or mms. i have a 5s...issue started 2 days ago.

Any error message provided when an email won't send?
MMS is exchanged via a carrier's cellular network only and MMS with the iPhone requires cellular data. If you have cellular data and MMS Messaging enabled, you need to contact your carrier about that problem to ensure MMS is provisioned properly for your account with an iPhone.
Can you receive MMS or an iMessage?

  • Can not add printer as non root user

First I would like to congratulate the archlinux community and founders for such a great distribution and more importantly a well documented distribution. I am amazed by how quickly I have I have been able to get my system up and running exactly how I want it and how quickly the wiki's and documentation provided the answers I needed without me needing to ask for any assistance.
My question is a simply one. Currently Cups will not allow me to add a printer without using the root user and password and ideally I would like to use my normal login. I can sudo fine it is just cups that seems to need root.

I only posted it because it was timely, since the whole blog-o-sphere is talking about it.
Yeah, I wasn't passing any judgement. The guy just seems to overestimate how integral he and his opinion are to fields beyond kernel hacking. I stopped paying attention a long time ago; I actually didn't even know he left Fedora behind until this afternoon.

  • My phone will not send texts to non-iPhone users and it will only send texts to other iPhone users if iMessage is turned on, otherwise it doesn't send texts at all. How do I fix this?

Help? Have any of you have this problem? How did you remedy it? Thanks in advance!

I'm on hold with them right now, I'm pretty sure that's the problem I just wanted to see if there could be any other reason. Covering all my bases, as it were. <3
