Can Premiere Pro CS 5.5 Export an XML to the new final Cut Pro X?

No, it won't. Premiere Pro can only export an XML for FCP7 or earlier. Make a feature request if you like: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish

can I download and use final cut pro 7 on new mac pro tower?,or I must work with the new final cut pro x only?

Disclaimer: This response assumes that a "new mac pro tower" is the new cylindrical model.
    1. You cannot download Final Cut Pro 7. FCP7 is part of Final Cut Studio (2009) a.k.a "FCS3" and it was only released on a DVD set. It can still be purchased online (maybe even from Apple) for prices ranging from a few hundred to $1K and it is 5 years old and unsupported.
    2. Although there are reports of systems running FCS3 on Mavericks, there are also a host of problems associated with this OS/software combination.
    3. A new version of iMovie Pro Final Cut Pro X has been released which is reportedly very fast and is supported.
It's all a matter of what kind of movies you make...

  • I have a copy of Final Cut Express 2. Can I get a current upgrade instead of repurchasing the new Final Cut Pro?

I have a old copy of Final Cut Express 2 that I never installed. Can I get a current upgrade instead of repurchasing the new Final Cut Pro?
The Apple Store does not show does not contain purchase information of the old unused Final Cut Express. What can I do to register Final Cut Express 2 will not operate in the current OS systems on my iMac. It only is compatible with the G3 or G5.

If you have a record/documentation of your FCS full version purchase, you can contact Apple here:

    to obtain your serial number.

Generally any Mac made since 2009 can handle FCP X.
Your small screen is not ideal unless you are young and have good vision.
However, you needn't ask whether or not your computer is suitable as you can find out yourself by downloading the free 30 day trial.

In addition, to get you up to speed with FCP X, you can also watch 2 hours of free video tutorials here

  • Will the new final cut pro x work with my Final cut pro version 6.0.6 data

will the new final cut pro x work with my Final cut pro version 6.0.6 data

    Thanks Tom.
So I will need  upgrade to FCP 7 first, then convert to an XML file in 6.0.6, then convert to another file that FCP X can read? I have a lot of half done projects that need finishing. Is this process very complex and time consuming?
Maybe I should be approaching this from a different angle. The reason I am asking is that I now need to upgrade to a new Mac book pro and have been told that I cant run final cut pro 6.0.6 on the new models using maverick. Is this true?

  • Does the projects created in Final Cut Express transfer over to the new Final Cut Pro software?

Does the video projects created in Final Cut Express transfer over to the new Final Cut Pro software?

You want to go from FCE to FCP-X?
You would need to do so in multiple steps.
    1) You would need to be working in a very late version of FCE.
    2) Open the FCE project in FCP-7.
    3) In FCP-7, export an XML of the sequence you wish to get to FCP-X.
    4) Purchase the software 7toX
    http://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/7toX/
    5) Import the XML into 7toX, export the FCP-X friendly file
    6) Import the converted XML into FCP-X
    7) Re-link all you media
It should be noted that when you use XML, not all the things you have done in your original sequence will make it through the final translation. There is more information about this at the 7toX page linked above.

  • Will final cut pro X 10.0.8  still be available for purchase after the new final cut pro release for mavericks/new macpro in december?

will final cut pro X 10.0.8  still be available for purchase after the new final cut pro release for mavericks/new macpro in december?

10.0.8 is no longer available, except in the trial version. The current sale version is 10.0.9. Apple has never sold older versions of their software, only the current version. That's not going to change in the near future.

  • What happens to Apple Color users with the new Final Cut Pro x

What happens to Apple Color users with the new Final Cut Pro x?

Some of the functions of Color have been incorporated into FCP X, meaning you will have more than the 3-Way-Color-Corrector but less than Color.
Since you cannot share projects between FCP and FCP X, you might want to stay with FCS if you rely on Color.

  • How can i import old projects (Final Cut Pro 10) to the new (final cut pro 10.1.1)?

    Hi everyone,
I have a folder full of backup projects and events of Final Cut Pro X.
Now, I have Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 and I don't know how to use those projects, since they were in a different folder.
    Yhanks very much
    Bruno

I'm assuming these are on a secondary drive. At the drive's root level make folders called Final Cut Projects and Final Cut Events. Move the projects and events you want to work with into those folders. In FCP use File>Update projects and events. Select the drive you want to update and FCP will update the projects and events in those folders. Save the originals as backups.

  • Is the new Final Cut 'Pro' as bad as everyone say?

Final Cut Pro X seems to be getting some bad reviews, even the App Store comments are hatefull saying it's iMovie Pro, Final Cut ex-Pro and a dumbed down version.
Is this true? I brough my Mac to run Final Cut Pro and brought the FCP Studio up to the last version and think it's a wonderfull bit of software. But it does seem that Apple has totaly misunderstood the Pro users or totally given up on them.
Apparently it won't open FC6 projects, you have to open up FCP 7 and convert them then open them up in FC'P' X, don't they realise NO PROFESSIONAL WANT'S TO HAVE TO DO THAT!
The background tasks and speed improvements sound good but at the expense of ease of use and bacward compatability, I just can't see myself getting this. Which is a real shame.
I do hope Apple realises it's mistake and brings out a propper PRO version someday, but I have the feeling they see more money on the consumer side and have given up on the pros, both music and film
So, can anyone out there convince me that everone else it wrong and that you can do everything you could do with FCP 7 (including opening FCP 6 documents as I have tons of them) and that everone is just complaining that the UI has changed.
    I do hope so...

I haven't had the beachball effect, in fact doing things within the application is really fast for me. I did notice that it seemed only slightly faster than iMovie when it exported. I am going to try doing different things like importing in native codec vs. transcoding to prores to see what is faster. Kind of goofy that my export options are more varied in iMovie 11, but again, FCPX has just what I need.
I have the luxury of being personally amused by all this. Not at the irritation of the pros of course, but at the goofy pattern Apple insists on repeating (though they did get Aperture right). I am sure soon there will be a wonderful time akin to  "make-up sex", where Apple will really work at making things right, like they did with iMovie 11, though that did take quite a while. Lots of arguments, then a period of quiet sulking...then there are needed changes and all is better again. I would never go back to iMovie 06, but when 08 came out I was astounded how bad it was for prosumers, and dove back to 06.
But I suspect the change is just too great for day to day professionals with deadline responsibilities. In five years the overwhelming weight of the prosumer market will determine video editing direction, but today, not so much.

  • Because of the new final cut pro x update with photoshop capability, does that mean 3d objects are now compatible with final cut pro x

Does Final Cut Pro X now support 3d models or objects because of the update with photshop capability?

When you import a 3D model in Photoshop, it is imported as a Layer (smart object). And, yes, you can edit 3D objects in Photoshop and import them into FCPX—AS a photohop image (you cannot manipulate the 3D nature of the object in FCPX.) You can however create an animation in PS, convert to layers from frames and import that into fcpx. You can then edit the compound clip created to make use of those "animated" layer/frames. (I'm not sure how far I'd "push it" though...fwiw, at that point, it might be better to export the animation from PS and import the MOV into FCPX.)
You can also make edits in PS after the psd is imported and fcpx will do live updates (after saving the psd file, of course.) 3D objects in PS are a special kind of Smart Object, and Smart Objects will translate to Motion and FCPX (they will be rasterized as a single layer, though.)

  • What is the song used as backing for the new Final Cut Pro video ad?

Nothing to do with the application itself, BUT just stumbled across the new video ad that Apple have released for Final Cut Pro. Really, very impressive - check it out....!
Question is: Can anyone tell me the name of the band / song Apple are using for the soundtrack of the video? Would love to order it up on iTunes.....
    Cheers!
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thanks Brian, I was only half joking. I've been wondering how I'll get used to them in the edit suite.
I've lost glasses when they were sitting on top of my head. I can't imagine trying to keep track of 3 pair. Fortunately my CRT/LCD vision is the same poor quality as my Drive In Screen vision so hopefully the bi's will let me read scripts while editing without getting a pounding headache.
    Enough of this old guy talk, we're going to start depressing people. (;

  • Ken Burns effects on the new Final Cut Pro X

I'm trying to evaluate wheather to buy new equipment to upgrade to the Final Cut Pro X. I have done a fair amount of editing with the Final Cut Express using the Ken Burns motion effects and have a lot more work to do. It appears that the new system doesn't allow the user to create very complex motion paths. Is it limited to a pan in pan out effect? [I no longer see a Viewer - rather merely what appears to be a Canvas screen. Can you still set key frames?]

Thank you for answering my question. When I was at the Apple Store looking at a new system, I had shown them a fairly lengthy segment of some of the work that I had done with FCE. The suggestion for me was to just use i-Movie. Having had experience with i-Movie I knew that that would not work.  When I looked at the demo that the people had run with FCPX I couldn't see how to do the motion effects and they did not address the issue. I had requested that one of the video trainers be present. They could not arrange that - hence my trip around the block - several times on this question.
I recently had a chance to speak with Apple Tech support  - [specifically the people who work with FCPX] - and they explained that Final Cut Pro X now defers the motion effects to a separate stand alone application called Motion. They said that that software will do everything that I need to do. I believe that I can continue my work with the new system on a newer Mac. Thanks again for your input.

  • Movie color is too dark if you use the new Final Cut Pro X.

    Does anyone know the problem?
    Problem is shown in FCPX.
    thank you

Yes, I have the same issue, it's a mismatch with LUT-based color profiles you might have installed. It's best to use the Apple profile in your monitor settings preferences, and let's hope Apple solves this problem on short term.
    Cheers,
