Can preset plugins be copied from Cool Edit Pro to Audition?

Can preset plugins be added/copied from Cool Edit Pro to use in Audition? There are just some equalizer settings in CEP I liked a lot and they are not in Audition.

Even though it might be possible, you might also not like the results any more - the EQ engines have been rebuilt and there's no guarantee that they will sound the same at all.
There are no guarantees, but if it's going to work at all, you find the Cool.ini file in preferences, and drop it onto the Audition icon on the desktop. Has to be the right ini file though - it's the one that's normally hidden in your user preferences, and much larger than the one that's easy to find.

  • Registering a used copy of Cool Edit Pro

I have just purchased a used copy of Cool Edit Pro on Ebay.  I have been assured that it is genuine (I only ever use genuine software).  I would like to register it in may name as it has the name of the previous owner in the licence details.  I can't find a "Register" link in the "help" menu.  Can anyone help, please?

    Details here may help:

  • Can't install 3.0 from Cool Edit 2k

I've been with this program ever since Adobe bought Cool Edit 2000 and renamed it Audition.  Adobe offered CE2k registered users a special upgrade price so I paid the fee and received in the mail Audition 1.0 on a CD and a nice thick, real user manual.  Later, they offered another upgrade (3.0) so I paid for it, only this time they offered it as a download and I saved it to my storage drive.  Here's my problem:  I recently lost my C drive and had to replace it, so now I have reinstall all of my programs.  Unfortunately though, I've misplaced my Audition 1.0 disk.  I have the original CE2k saved to my storage drive so no problem there, I can get that far, but if I try to install 3.0 it looks for 1.0 and it isn't there, so I'm SOL!  I called tech support and after wading through 2 or 3 techs, I finally connected with someone who understood what my problem was, though I couldn't understan her very well (I'm accent challenged), and she stepped me through some things to try.  First of all she told me that I didn't need to have 1.0 installed as long as I had the original CE2k installed with its' valid product key which I do (boy, product keys were sure short back in them days).  Alas though, it didn't work!  Then of course, she had me do all kinds of bizarre time consuming things that I knew wouldn.t make a difference.  So that's where I'm at, using a 12 year old program.
I refuse to give Adobe another penny, they should have a rcord of my purchases, so why can't just send me another copy of 1.0?
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ray

No, none of us have any idea at all as to why Adobe do some of the things they do - it's probably just because they can...
But I'm afraid that when it comes to installation issues, it's really down to them; there's nothing we can actually do about this at all.
The only thing I can tell you about this is that there's no way (whatever Adobe help says) that you could install an Adobe upgrade product over a non-Adobe one. The first thing that happened when Adobe took over Syntrillium was that the front end installer of Audition 1 was rewritten to the Adobe standard, not the Syntrillium one. When they sold you Audition 1 at a discount, it was because you held a legitimate registration for CE2k, but CE2k's the one thing you don't need to reinstall! The only thing I can suggest is that you ask the help line whether they can trace the 1.0 serial number they gave you - assuming that you registered it. At this point they ought to be able to trace your purchase history after that, and get you working again. But this will rely very much on you having registered everything, and them being able to trace it.
I wouldn't give up yet - people have been able to do this before, I'm pretty sure.

  • Upgrade rules for Cool Edit, Cool Edit pro, Audition

Does anybody know the upgrade order for the following applications?
    Cool Edit 96
    Cool Edit 2000
    Cool Edit Pro 1
    Cool Edit Pro 2
    Audition 1
If one had Cool Edit 2000 what was the next step up? Was it Cool Edit Pro or was it Audition?
Was it posible to go from Cool Edit 96 to Cool Edit Pro 1 ? Or was is rquired to go by Cool Edit 2000 first?
Could one go from Cool Edit 96 to Audition?
Any such information is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Where did Cool edit Pro fit in?
Did you go from Cool edit pro 2 to Adobe Audition 1?
My mistake - Cool Edit 1 is actually Cool Edit Pro 1. It got renamed because it was the paid-for upgrade from Cool Edit 96.
So ignoring CE2000, the major software lineage to date is effectively:
    Cool Edit 96
    Cool Edit Pro 1
    Cool Edit Pro 1.2
Cool Edit Pro 2, which became Audition 1, minus the CD burning which was beta. Adobe wouldn't countenance that!
    Audition 1.5
    Audition 2.0
    Audition 3.0
    Audition 3.0.1
    Audition 4.0 aka Audition CS5.5
Cool Edit Pro didn't natively do MP3 - you had to purchase that as a plugin. CE2000 had it natively, though. There might be a minor additional step around CEP1.2 and 2, but I don't recall offhand whether there was or not, and it would only have been a bugfix.

  • How can i eject a cool edit pro driver?

Hi, can anyone help me please?
I can not eject a driver "cool edit pro" from my Imac...

Shut the computer down. That will force it to quit whatever is running or it believes is running. Then hold down the trackpad button while you start it up again, until the disc is ejected.

I lost all my purchased songs when my hard drive.  Can I get another copy from Apple?

Quite possibly, at least assuming you are based in the US. Install the latest build of iTunes, sign into the iTunes Store and click the Purchased entry in the Quck Links panel. Here in the UK I only get tabs fro Apps and Books but, if I understand correctly, you should also get a tab for Music. Click on the Not in My Library button and you should be able to download your purchases again.

  • How can I make a backup from my Macbook Pro?

How can I make a backup from my Macbook Pro?

    Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
    1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
    2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
         drive being backed up.
See Mac Basics- Time Machine. Please visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Get Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. Synk Pro
      6. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files. For help with using Time Machine visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined.  It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.)  You can purchase hard drives separately.  This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice.  Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.  You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available.  You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports.  I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.)  You can find enclosures at places such as;
      1. Cool Drives
      2. OWC
      3. WiebeTech
      4. Firewire Direct
      5. California Drives
      6. NewEgg
All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover.  Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.

  • Don't you guys (staff) miss Cool Edit Pro's editing?

    Hi, devs.
You guys might want to do some research on how all the former Cool Edit Pro users felt about the introduction of Audition's new way of navigating the interface. (referring to how you left and right-click in the standard edit view, and do that type of basic editing.) I haven't used Cool Edit Pro in long enough that my memory might not be 100% accurate, but I do at least remember never getting used to the new Audition-style gestures... (even when I switched back to the old-style right-clicking.)
Some of Audition's editing has bothered me for a long time. Audition surely brought advances to Cool Edit Pro, but it seems that a few of the most important things also took a slide.
Now that CS6 once again defaults to the Cool Edit Pro right-click (really nice), other oddities have arisen, like: when your sound is playing, left-clicking to change position does nothing at all, at least as far as I can tell. It puts a dotted line, but nothing can be done with it. If a sound is currently playing, the only way to jump to a different location is to completely stop the audio, click somewhere else, then play again. (Is that slow, or is that slow?) I think this at least needs some options under Preferences>>Playback.
Another angle to look at this is: find out if the majority of the Audition staff even like these changes, vs. Cool Edit Pro's style. I don't see how they could, at least if they were ever comfortable with Cool Edit Pro.
Update: (Also, what about using middle-mouse-click to move the Playhead (current playing location) without losing your selection? Currently, you have to click that bar at the top, which most users probably won't discover, unless they follow an actual training course. You need to find a way to get these things across to people, or the vast, vast majority of users - like myself - will be editing in "this program is junk" mode. I don't think it's junk, but that doesn't stop me from often having a hard time with new things that require psychic insight to understand.
Users aren't psychic. If you don't explain to them how to use features, then those features don't exist. (and if they aren't going to go out and find training material themselves, or read the help files, then you either have to provide something up-front yourself, or you're ruined. I think too many companies dont understand this. Autodesk seems to, providing videos that show the basics, right on the bootup Welcome Screen. I think that's very important.)

Hi ZypKode, I couldn't help but reply to your post: Back before Win 95 I was using Digigram's Xtrack audio editor. It didn't run on Win 3.x because that OS wasn't capable enough. Win 95 just managed that when it came out. I looked at Cool Edit Pro around that time, and it was Ok. But for my work which was a lot of interview recording/editing plus radio programme recording in 4 track (2 tracks for voicing, 1 stereo track for music) Xtrack was way out ahead, in terms of multitrack capability but especially speed of work. Even the waveform display had several options apart from the standard full-wave that every editor, even today uses (Audacity offers a dB display which is better, but nothing like the old Xtrack offering). The option I always used was a half-wave display with just the outline, and it was logarithmic rather than linear. Result was that, without resorting to zooming in and out, you could see the noise floor, see the detail of the person's breath and lip-smack. With a little experience you could do most voice edits just by looking without even listening – which, of course, you did afterward, just to make sure :-)  Producers used to look at me as if I was a magician when doing the edits like that.  If Audition one day offered that as a waveform option, they could put it forward as a revolutionary new experience, since Digigram, better known for their high end audio hardware, dropped Xtrack a few years ago, being too small a company to compete with the big players.

  • USB MIDI interface on Cool Edit Pro v2  (Adobe Audition)  ARGGHHH!  Help needed....

Before I shell out on a Roland MIDI interface midi cable for my my home studio can anyone tell me if it will work?  I had a working setup for years with an HP Pavilion Win XP and Creative Audigy Platinum Ex sound card using the Audigy external breakout box for the midi in/out.  Very old but worked fine with my (legit) Cool Edit Pro.  The old PC gave up the ghost so I bought a new ASUS one i5 Intel CPU with a SSD for the OS Apps as well as 1Tb HDD  for storage.
I installed Win 7 as XP is not supported anymore.
THEN I bought a  PCIe to PCI interface (the old Audigy card being standard PCI)
THEN I found that the new Win 7 drivers for the Audigy do not support the  'daughter board' and breakout box so the MIDI interface does not work..
Easy way round that ( I thought ), I will install XP and dual boot the new PC.
THEN I found that the EUFI is incompatible with XP.
THEN I found a way to install XP except that most of the drivers don't work and the XP runs like a dog. You can either have EUFI SATA setup correctl and see the SSD or have XP and the SSD not recognised.
    by the way
The sound card is native on the MB Hi-def surround so Ian probably use that.
Can anyone tell me if I install a Roland Midi In Out USB cable between my MIDI control keyboard Synth  will the Cool Edit Pro recognise it in the Midi device configuration and allow me to input receive MIDI data in the Program?.   I'm losing the 'will to live right' now having already acknowledged that my SB is now a piece of  useless junk.  Cool Edit seems to install and run fine on Win 7 by the way apart from this MIDI problem.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for that and the quick reply.  I suppose shelling out another £40 isn’t going to make a lot of difference having blown £70+ on a PCIe to PCI convertor which is a bit pointless now and especially if it will save me the cost of updating the soundcard and recording software.  I tend to use an external mixer (Tascam) to input and monitor from the PC software.  I suspect , like you, it should work once I de-install the Audigy HW stuff as although the soundcard plays the CEP demo  the device config  window only ‘sees’ that and not the onboard sound hardware.  Fun times ahead.
    Thanks again

can I interrupt a migration from Mac Book Pro to iMac and what are the consequences

    Les:
    Here are some options:
    • You could copy the data file to your laptop, work on it, and update the file on the iMac when you are back.
    • You can use an application like Log Me In to access your home computer from your laptop.
    • You can use DropBox. Install it on both computers, place your data file in a folder on the iMac, access it and work on it on your laptop and it will be automatically updated on your computer at home, even if it is not turned on, as soon as it is connected to the internet.
Please do post back with further questions or comments.
