Can PSE 6 and PSE 8 Run at the Same Time?

I have Windows 7 and recently upgraded to PSE 8 and have had problems with Photo Mail and email attachments. I did not have email attachment problems with PSE 6 so I wonder if I can run both 6 and 8. Will there be a catalog problem? When I loaded PSE 8 the first time the catalog needed to be converted. Will this make it unstable for PSE 6?

Since they're different apps and there's no way to sync something like that: no. Sounds like you could just do a video slideshow to me. That's supported by all major video creation apps.

Can B1 2005 and 2007 be run at the same time?

I want to install B1 2007 on my server to make sure that everything runs over smoothly, then when I'm satisfied with the results, I'll just upgrade my workstations and hopefully have a seamless transition. Are there any errors that will pop up if I install 2007 at the same time as 2005? I have to make sure that there isn't a work outage.

if you mean both version to sql server, the answer is yes, you can. If you mean to install the aplication, the answer is no, you cannot. If you want to test new version, youll have to use new computer or some virtual PC.

Can RMAN backup and export datapump executed at the same time?

Hello,
I have several databases that I backup using RMAN and export datapump everynight starting at 6PM and end at Midnight. The backup maintenance window doesn't give me enough time for each database to run at different time. I am using crontab to schedule my backups. Since I have so many databases that need to be backed up between 6PM - Midnight, some of the export and RMAN backup scripts will execute almost at the same time. My question is can my export data pump and RMAN backup scripts run at the same time?

Needs must. If you don't run expdp parallel then it doesn't use that much. If it was really killing the system then look into setting up a Resource plan that knocks that user down but this is a big step.
I woud better look into using Rman
system incrementals, and block change tracking, to minimize your RMAN time.

PS : One of my shops has maybe 20-30 rmans and pumps all kicking off some simultaneous, some not, from 0000 to 0130. No complaints from users and no problems either. Go for it.

Video out settings HDMI and Component out run at the same time?

Does anyone know if I can get video out of both the HDMI port and component video connections at the same time. Trying to distribute video throught the house on component, and still get HD on the flat panel in the living room. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apple says when both HDMI and component are connected, HDMI will take precedence over component. Short answer: no.

Can I save and open an attachemnt at the same time?

I want to be able to open an email with an attachement or attachments and click on the save button for the attachment(s), designate the location (folder) where they are to be saved - but also tell Mail to save the attachments then open them up on the desktop. Two operations in one. If you understand my request you understand what you have to do now - two separate steps. Save. Then find the saved files and open them.
OR
Open the attachment from the email which then downloads the file to your designated "all-purpose" location (not the ultimate location you'd want to save it). Then once you've seen it, you do the save thing with the original mail attachment and then have to go back and delete the file from the designated all-purpose download location.
This latter problem of having to delete unedited downloads manually could be solved with an option in Mail preferences to automatically delete unedited downloads in the "all-purpose" location after that same attachment had been downloaded to another specific location on your hard drive. This option for deleting unedited downloads does not exist, however.
But even if this step-saver option existed in the preferences, you still would not be able to tell your Mac to save a particular Mail email attachment to a particular folder AND open that attachment at the same time in one command.
That's what I want.
Maybe I want both. Save and open together plus the ability to automatically delete unedited attachment downloads in the "all-purpose" download file after the same attachment has been downloaded to another specific location on your hard drive.

Forms 6i and Forms 9i Running at the same time

I was wondering if it is possible to run the Forms 6i developer suite and the Forms 9i developers suite at the same time and database environment.

Oracle9iAS Release 2 = Oracle9i Forms and you can only run 9i Forms in this stack.
Oracle9iAS Release 1 - Oracle Forms6i and you can only run 6i Forms on this stack.
You should "mix and match" version of Forms. You should run the version of Forms on the same platform version.
Of course, you can upgrade your 6i Forms to 9i which means they will now only run on Oracle9iAS Release 2.
I know its a little bit confusing but we are slowly getting all our release numbers aligned to make it easier for you.

every IP based connection has a gateway that tells a device where to send packages that belong to the subnet the connection is in.
Then there is a (one, and only one!) default gateway that tells the device where to send all packages that belong to no subnet of any connection. On OSX this is normally bound to the primary network device (the one that is on first place in the network configuration).
So there is no problem having more than one network connection open. In your case, though, the WiFi connection would probably be in the same subnet as the wired connection. This doesn't pose a problem per se, but just is a bit senseless. It doesn't have an impact on networking, though.

Mainstage 2 and Kontakt 5 running at the same time?

I use MainStage 2 and Lion running on my MacBook Pro 2.3 i5 8GB Ram. When I use only Kontakt 5 latency is low, but when I in addition start up MainStage 2 I get pops and crackles. Can not Kontakt 5 and Mainstage 2 run side by side? Is this normal?

I just think its kinda funny, since I use MainStage ONLY for changing patches on my three synths - no softsynth at all, and use Kontakt 5 mostly for playing one Rhodes sound, sometimes I layer two sounds at once. The CPU is not very high, just seem like Kontakt and MainStage will not work well together. Mayby using a SSD for the samples would help ...

Can't get my threads to run at the same time :-(

I hope someone can help me. I have an two instances of an object that extends thread. In it's run method, there is a while loop that iterates while an int x (that starts at about 450) is not less than 0.
In the while loop there is an x--; statement.
Also inside the while loop is a call to yield();
Also is a call sleep(5);
Also in the while loop is a statement something like "System.out.println(x);"
The int controls the vertical position of an icon (a JLabel) on the screen.
In the class that has the main method, two instances of the thread object are created one after the other and run one after the other, although the program keeps running the first one until it has finished before running the second one!
For example, the code looks something like this:-

System.out.println("o2 running");
And the end printout (with the println call from the thread objects) looks like this:-

What's going on? Why won't it start running the second thread straight after the first one?

Two processes running at the same time in Lookout

I have installed Lookout 5.0 with 200 I/O Points onto our server computer. The application of motion control is next to the 200 I/O points through OPC PMAC server/client. Now I would like to have a second process in the same server for trouble shooting and testing without stopping the motion control process. However, this second testing process could have also many I/O points through Serial and USB ports. I assume that the total amount of I/O points of both processes will be greater than 200.I prefer to have independent processes for control and testing because access levels. Can I have these two processes running at the same time when needed?

From your description you are using a third party OPC server for the motion application. You could have a second Lookout process communicating with the same OPC server with no problems, as long as you do not exceed the number of I/O points your license supports.
Also, the process you are using for testing obviously could not overwrite datamembers (or registers if you will) that would interfere in the overall application, in other words you can test your application as long as you keep the coherency of the test.
So the answer would be, yes it is possible, however you are still limited to the number of I/O's your license supports... You may even consider upgrade the number of I/O's you have in your license.

I think that I made the wrong question, as you said: "that means the number of threads currently created".
I'm worry about this because my application is already online (It's a mail server -SMTP and POP3 server using ORACLE for the users database- ) and some other user post in the "multi-tread forum" that almost any JVM can only have 700 threads created at the same time, and I've never heard or read anything about this.

I'm using the JavaWebServer 2.0 and a servlet to start the main Thread.

Labview runs CANBus and DNP3 software model at the same time

I have an ordinary computer which communicates with several DSPs (CANBus communiation) through Compact Rio. The physical connection is that the DSPs' CANBuses are connected together and connected into Compact Rio, then the Compact Rio is connected with a router through Ethernet, at the same time, the computer also connects with the Router through Ethernet. Based on this physical architecture, the computer can run CANBus software model on Labview to communiate with Compact Rio and DSPs.
As I know, the communication between the computer and the Compact Rio is not real time, and the communication between Compact Rio and DSPs can be real time, can you tell me if I get the right point?
Now we have another device named RTDS (communicate with outside through Enternet based on DNP3), and want to add RTDS into our system. I am not sure about the way to conduct the communiation. The main question is that we need to run Labview to communicate with DSPs through CANBus and RTDS through DNP3 at the same time, is that possible?
I proposed two possible ways to conduct communication, bt not sure if it is possible.
1. I proposed that I connect RTDS with the Router through Ethernet, and then the computer communicates with RTDS through the Router based on DNP3 and also keeps the communication with DSPs through Router, Compact Rio, CANBus and then DSPs. I am wondering if this kind of communication is available for Labview.
2. The second possible way I proposed is that I connect the RTDS with Compat Rio (CRio keeps connecting with DSPs through CANBus) through Ethernet, and then the computer communicates with DSPs through Router, Compact Rio and CANBus, and the computer communicates with RTDS through Router, Compact Rio and Ethernet. Also, the computer needs to run Labview with CANBus sofeware model and DNP3 software model at the same time. I am also not sure if it is possible.

To use Mail from multiple devices, your Mail Server needs to be using IMAP protocol (iCloud Mail uses that).
IMAP keeps the Master copies on the Server, not on the Mac the way most default POP Mail servers do.
To keep one Master Calendar, accessible from all devices, you need a web-accessible place to keep the Master Calendar. iCloud can do that.

How can I listen to itunes and play a game at the same time on my ipad 4? This means I need to run 2 apps at the same time itunes and my game. The game has its own sound control so I can turn off its sound while i listen to itunes tracks. But I don't know how to set it up so the ipad does both.

Anytime you open an app that has a persistant sound stream - a movie, a podcast, some games - it will overide the music app's stream. nothiong you can do to change it.
