Can Receive but not Send ATT Mail on iPhone

I have an att uverse emai account and have set it up on my iphone 5 with iOS 7. It sets up as an IMAP account (should it be POP?) and I can receive mail just fine. However whenever I try to send an email, I get an error saying my user ID or password is incorrect. I have deleted and recreated the account several times and still cannot send email from it. It has worked in the recent past just fine. Thanks.

  • Can receive but not send e-mail on Centro using Yahoo

Okay, yesterday's issue wasnt' resolvable so I figured out how to delete the gmail account and started over with a yahoo account. It works, but it won't send e-mail, only recieve. I get a failure message every time I try to send.
    Can you please help?
    thank you!
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

Question:  Are you using the Pay version of Yahoo mail?  (Yahoo Premium)?  How are you sending and receiving?  VersaMail?
If not, the free version of Yahoo mail will not work with VersaMail as it is not a true "POP3" account.

  • Can receive, but not send e-mail

Hi, I'm having a problem sending e-mail from my Iphone 4. I have no problem receiving it - just sending it. I use Comcast Xfinity for e-mail, and recently upgraded to a Motorola SBG6782-AC Cable Modem/Wi-Fi AC router. I've had the router for a few weeks, and I certainly don't remember there being an issue with mail when I installed it, but I'm at a loss for why it's suddenly stopped being able to send. Any help for a technical deficient person would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I forgot I changed e-mail passwords. The new one, while different, is exactly the same length as my last one. Hella embarassed. Thank you so much!

Under smtp settings (mail preferences/accounts/edit smtp) I set the outgoing port to 25 (as recommended by Talktalk), no authentication (set to none) and unchecked SSL. I found that until I set the port to 25 and authentication to none I was unable to uncheck SSL. One I had done this I was able to send from my main email and other email adddresses set up under my account."
Superb advice R&W!  My email sending block using TalkTalk started 2 months ago using Snow Leopard, continued when I upgraded to 10.8.2, and has been persistent on my wife's new iPad (IOS 6.1).  Implementing your wise words has fixed all that, and now enables me to call her on FaceTime — previously only she could call me.  Thank you so much; this will save hours of further fruitless searching and phoning.
Please remember that your email is now insecure, if you wish to have a secure connection SSL must be on and port 25 should be avoided.

  • I think a firewall is interfering with my mail program - I can receive but not send. Please help!

I think Firefox may have installed a firewall that is interfering with my email program - I can receive but not send mail.

Firefox does not install a firewall.

  • I can't send emails via mail. I can receive but not send. I have set up gmail on mail. Any ideas?

I can't send emails via mail. I can receive but not send. I have set up gmail on mail. Any ideas? No problems with the set up previously to this.

Go to Mail Preferences- Accounts and confirm you are providing Gmail what they require to send and receive mail. And DON'T specify Secure Socket Layer. Some mail accts don't like SSL
    Good Luck to you.

  • Read this if you can receive, but not send email

If you can receive, but cannot send email on your iPhone, try the following:
Add your outgoing Server Port Number to your "Outgoing Mail Server Name"
    Example: smtp.example.com:XXXX
where XXXX is your Outgoing Server Port Number ( eg. 25 )
For specifics on how to do this, read on.
    From the Home Screen, select:
    Settings
    *Mail,Contacts ...*
your email Account ex: [email protected]
Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server
Then select your outgoing mail server *SMTP smtp.example.com*
    Select Primary Server smtp.example.com
Host Name change smtp.example.com to smtp.example.com:XXXX
where XXXX is your Outgoing Server Port Number.
This worked great, but unfortunately this helpful hint could not be found on the Apple support forum ... until now
    Hope this helps!

This worked for me too! (iPhone 3G 2.02). Apple's once-over-lightly help with this issue is really lame. I thought better of Apple but they are turning into just another Dell or Microsoft.

  • I can receive but not send emails with my skynet account - what am I doing wrong ?

I can receive but not send emails with my skynet account - what am I doing wrong ?
I have no problems with my Yahoo account but I can not send emails with my skynet account.
    Actually in iPhone :
Outgoing Mail Server > SMTP "relay.skynet.be"
Primary server > Not Configured > Off
    Thank you ...

When you set them up, did you set up both the incoming and outgoing email servers separately, and did you enter the correct SMTP server name, and enter your userid and password even though it says "optional"?
Something else to try, if you haven't, is delete the accounts, connect the iPhone to iTunes, on the Info tab check the box to sync mail server settings, then sync. This should duplicate the settings from your computer to your iPhone.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • 5th gen ipod can receive but not send emails

5th gen ipod can receive but not send emails. I have iPad with same settings and no issues. Yet, I keep getting "cannot send mail" the user name or password for "[email protected]" is incorrect. Please assist. I am not running both accounts simultaneously

    See:
iOS: Unable to send or receive email
    Did it work before?
I suspect a error in the settings for the outgoing mail server.

  • Icloud email can receive but not send on PC?

With icloud emails on my iphone I can receive and send icloud emails. On my PC I can receive but not always send. When I try to send an icloud email I get this message: "This message cannot be sent at this time"
    Thanks,

I ran into this problem myself while connected via WI-FI last night and it was due to port 25 being blocked by my ISP. I recommend that you set up your Yahoo! e-mail account within iPhone. Go to Settings | Mail | Add Account... Yahoo will be the top choice.
If you want to continue to use Yahoo via POP3/SMTP, then look at this link:

  • Can receive but not send mail

Because of buyout, had to switch over from Adelphia to Comcast this weekend. With the help of Comcast, reset Mac mail on both G4 and G3 running OS 10.4.9. Got everything finally working Sunday, but today, G4 will not send.
Error: "Message could not be delivered, will remain in Outbox until it can. Connection to server "smtp.comcast.net" on port 110 timed out." Any ideas?

    Hi,
I, too, got caught up in this Comcast busines. When I reset my Mail preferences per their instructions, I found that I could receive e-mail but not send it. After spending almost an hour with TWO of their so-called technical people, I was told that mine was an OEM problem and there was nothing else that Comcast could do for me.
YET, by changing the server port from Comcast's recommended 587 setting back to 25 (which it had been when I was with Time-Warner), I could then send e-mails!
    Relieved but irritated,
    Bill
