i just plugged my iphone 4 into my laptop to update some apps, when i was prompted with a new update for the phone itself. naturally, i clicked "update", read through the new/improved features and let the phone do its' thing.
near the end of the installation process (or at the end of it? idk, i wasn't really looking at the screen), everything stopped and a msg popped up claiming an error had occurred. i clicked "ok", only to have another msg pop up saying that itunes was detecting an iphone in recovery mode and that i had to *RESTORE THE PHONE BEFORE USING IT WITH ITUNES.*
ok, i get it. something went wrong and it apparently wants to start over from scratch.
but "I" don't wanna start over from scratch. not for a THIRD **ing time because of apple's screw up. nope, not me. so, can somebody please tell me how to get my phone back to the way it was before ever considering the latest update?

at this point you cant you have to restore it and I hope that works for you a trip to the nearest apple store may be in order for you if you cant get it restored.. and that means replacement

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

It could be the result of a number of things, so it is hard to say for sure as to exactly why your iPod has frozen. Could be that a memory leak, or that your iPod simply had to many apps opened up or in your multitasking bar. The possibilities are numerous.
What really counts here is just getting it resolved. Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

i have installed 9iAS on NT and then created the local db on the same machine. then i installed portal on the same local db . But i want to connect my main 8i db (which is residing on some other machine) with the portal . is it possible by making the new dad or with some other method.
The reson why i am not installing portal on the main 8i db is because there is already load on that db thats why i installed portal on the machine where i installed 9iAS .
Is it possible for portal to communicate with main 8i db (remember that portal is on the machine where i am having 9iAS . it is not installed on the machine where iam having my main 8i db).
I know my question is little confusing but any type of help will be appretiated .

It is possible to have Portal installed on remote database...if this is what you r asking. U need to configure the dad settings in the Portal.I hope this explains it.

if wouldn't hurt to delete the account entirely and just re-set it up in preferences.

My system crashed...if I post my report, can someone tell me what happened?

My relatively new 2010 MBP 15" 2.66 i7 8GB RAM w/ the anti-glare screen (trying to include all the info, just in case) crashed. First, it wouldn't wake from sleep. That happens from time to time, sure. But this time, it didn't even sleep when I closed it. I didn't notice and slipped it into my bag, taking it with me to class. When I got to my class to take out my machine, I unzipped it and felt a ton of heat rush out, noticing the fans on the computer were running at full power. My MBP was HOT! I held the power button to shut it off (just instinct, don't know if that'd help anything) and let it cool. I started it up a few minutes later, and here I am writing this.
I've been having issues with flash videos... On any site, the videos sometimes pause as the audio plays normally (artifacts show at the top 1/8 of the video portion of the screen). Also, when in full screen, the video sometimes plays at a seemingly slower frame rate (maybe 10fps or so, so it's definitely choppy), again while the sound continues normally. Don't know if this has anything to do with the issue, but it's been annoying, to say the least (especially considering the over-$3000 I put into this thing...not that I'm complaining about the price for an MBP, I love it despite these issues...).
Finally, the system has been a bit slower overall. As far as maintenance, I'm pretty anal. I run MacScan and MacKeeper once a day at least. I have onyx and check for file permissions within Onyx and Disk Utility, etc., on occasion, and did so just a few days ago. My hard drive is 500GB with just over 100GB free...
ALSO: I had been having an issue a couple weeks ago where my computer would freeze every 30 seconds or so for about 5 seconds, and then resume again as though nothing was wrong, and then repeat... Restarting didn't help, so I repaired permissions, and things seemed to be fixed (although my MS Office programs wouldn't work...all my programs are legit, by the way...so don't know what was up with that...but a reinstall fixed the issues).
I've had a **** of a couple weeks with this computer, but I'm determined to keep it running (and my pocket full, hopefully). Any chance that someone can help me with what may be going on? I do have AppleCare, but I thought this might be easier than going to the store to have them tell me everything seems fine and they have no clue what's wrong...
I did a copy of the report once the computer started again after the whole overheating thing...if that actually tells anyone anything. Any help is MUCH APPRECIATED! Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I switched CuteFtp to binary and that cleared up the problem. You know I was using your post from a previous thread to help me already. I guess I did not read enough.

Can anyone tell me what happens to an iphone when you actually fill it up to full ?

A friend of mine is blind and therefore never sees the 'nearly full' message on her iphone (iphone 4S, latest iOS, I think 7.1.1) as it fills up.
We see lots of odd behaviours from her phone and I'm trying to work out if its caused by the phone being full ?
For example, I'd expect the iphone to STOP:
- Recieving iMessages
- Apps wouldn't be able to store data (eg Skype, Whatsapp might not work)
But, would it lead to potential corruption? For example I see these happening:
- Some imessages get through from some friends, but not from me. It looks like a block is in play, but I'm able to call my friend.
- Calls coming in are one-way audio (I wouldn't expect a full iphone to cause this)
- Skype isn't updating, it doesn't seem to recieve or send messages/videos.
What other things would happen ?

Yes I'd expect that. But I'm concerned with what I keep seeing happen on my friends phone. Apps seem to corrupt and stop running. SMS's apparently make it to the device (according to the operator), but they're not displayed. Replies to me seem to come from her email_imessage address rather than her phone_imessage address and when I reply it doesn't deliver (meaning that neither SMS nor imessage appear to work), but only with me, it works with others.
If as I suspect, the SMS database is corrupted, then I'm also wondering if the backups of the iphone in iCloud and PC are also corrupted (or does the backup process filter out likely corruption).
I would have thought that iOS would protect applications from this somehow, but I can't see how - a full iPhone is a full iPhone right.. no way to stop data corruption.

ok, 2 days of trying and i'm pretty tired of this.
I've trying to get rid of my "Kerberos is stopped" status in my Open Directory. First I thought the problem with my setup but then, yesterday, I tried to install Mac OS X server on VMware Fusion, and I got kerberos running right away. I thought I was lucky, so I reformat the virtual disk and reinstall Leopard server, it worked again, and the same thing for the third time.
Then, I went back and to my Mac mini and install Leopard server on it, setup DNS, then OD. Right after I change my OD to master, I see kerberos is stopped. I'm pretty sure that my setup procedure was perfect as I followed the Lynda's server training video, and had 3 success on VMware but not on my Mac Mini. I reinstall and same thing happened "Kerberos is stopped", and again and again. All fresh install.
Anybody know why?
Also, my Mac Mini is 2009 model and I have to follow this guide to get my Leopard Server disc to work on the Mac Mini.

I don't think upgrade from Leopard Client to Leopard server causes the problem but who knows. If so, what are other alternatives?

Well, perhaps not as part of that article. But there used to be an article about tearing down and rebuilding the Kerberos KDC. It was that article I was searching for when I noticed the article you linked to came up in the search results, which prompted me to notice the extra clause at the end.

Also, just FYI, I recently setup two servers for clients similarly to how you did yours (install server on top of regular OS). I had HEAPS of trouble due to irregularities in the config files, e.g. imapd.conf. So, be watchful.

I bought Black Tie Insurance for my expensive new Palm Pre. I have all receipts, and my initial charge went through. No subsequent charges were sent, though. No, they weren't denied by my bank, my bank never even got a request for the supposed recurring monthly charge. Many customer reps assisted, bottom line, emails & voicemails were exchanged in my behalf, all of which I have retained. Best Buy CS reps said the PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. The charges went through, not sure what thier error was. Was this a lie? My account shows as SUSPENDED. I'm sure most suspended accounts are due to non-payment. Since this isn't the case in my account, and I phoned & wrote stating that this needed to be fixed, and noting that I would NOT accept any lapse in coverage due to an administrative error, where do I go from here? Do I just have an expensive phone with no insurance? It's too late to sign up for Sprint's coverage, but I'm sure they would have billed me appropriately. Any advice would be appreciated.
