Can't access Aperture 2 now!

I have installed the trial of 3 and ordered the box - why you can't just get an unlock code instead I don't know.
That aside, I have a problem.
Aperture 3 won't open my Aperture 2 library. Aperture 2 won't open at all - it says that it cannot open the Aperture 3 library and the only option it gives is to quit opening!
I NEED to get at my images now - I have a client waiting for some of them - and Aperture 3 never said it would prevent Aperture 2 from working as normal
I will have to bin the v3 trial unless anyone has any other ideas?

OK - answered by own question!
The v3 trial becomes the default. You need to right click 'open with' and use v2 on the original library.
I also note that you can buy the unlock code from the trial - not something that is mentioned on the Apple Store. Now I have to wait for the blessed box to turn up!!

Had iTunes successfully installed on my computer (Windows XP) for some time. I can't access it now.
I keep getting the message -
C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\CommonFiles\Apple\AppleApplicationSupport\icudt46.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error.

I have uninstalled & re-installed the program several times with Mozilla, tried with Internet Explorer but it freezes, turned off the pop-up blocker & tried to re-install again. The window at the end of the installation process tells me that it was successful!

C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\CommonFiles\Apple\AppleApplicationSupport\icudt46.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error.
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (Although the procedure is for Vista and 7 and you've got XP, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

  • I was using the clone tool and my computer froze. I could'nt get aperture to work at all, so I turned my computer off and now I can'nt access aperture or my I photo library. I ahve tried re booting my computer several times but I don't know what to do to

I was useing my colne tool in apetrure when, apeture froze. I could not get it to work again, so I turned off my computer, re booted my machine and tried to open the programme again. I can not get aperture to open again and I can't open I photo either. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me get the programme running again? I have a deadline to meet this evening. Help!

    I have tried both options.
When I got to point 3 I choose the library I was working on and the same error message popped up, so this option did not work.
I then tried the second suggestion and chose the repair option but as before there is no sign of a repair database grogress indicator. Where would I be able to see this and what does it look like. I can't see any evidence of anything happening on my screen.
I have also just tried the first option that comes up in the pop up box where you have to enter your password, this resulted in the same error message.
I don"t know what to do.
I don't really want to have to go for the third option where you have to rebuild you data base - Would this result in loosing images?

  • Can't Access Aperture Photos from Other Applications

I am using the trial version of Aperture. I can't access the photos in Aperture from Photoshop, Word or any other application (except Mail). I can see the icon for Aperture and the words "Aperture 3 Trial Library" but it is grayed out. Is there a setting or what? I have Snow Leopard and Mac OS X 10.6.5.

I guess one thing that bothers me about all my pictures being "bundled" in iPhoto or Aperture is that they don't show up in the Finder.
This is a real non-issue. A Package is simply a folder that looks like a file. Want to look inside? Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library or the Aperture Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
See? There are all your files, in folders.
Why are they Packaged? Because if you move, rename, or alter them then you will corrupt your Library. So it's a simple protection for the structure of the Library. That's all. No big secret.
But there are other things you need to consider too.
Supposing you want to attach a file to an Email in Aperture. Presumably you want to send the edited file of your photo. So, how do you do that +when there is no edited file+? Aperture doesn't actually edit the file at all it simply records the decisions you have taken and shows them to live when you view the pic. All your edits are "virtual". So, the fact that your original files are stored out the the package will be no help to you at all.
iPhoto is pretty much the same - though the details are different.
So, you have to use the applications when you want to access the files for whatever reason - editing, printing, sharing, whatever. That's the point of these apps. They are your Photo Manager, what AddressBook is to your Contacts, iTunes is to your Music and so on.
Here's a macro I use for when these questions come up on the iPhoto Forum. Most - if not all - of these will also work for Aperture:
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*_(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)_*
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto or Aperture
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto or Aperture not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
*File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. This produces, producing a copy.

  • Can't access Aperture Library

All of my images/projects have disappeared when I go into aperture. However My Aperture Library appears to be there (I can see that it's 250gb). how can I get aperture to delink to the library?

Two basic possibilities. One you have a filter set which is causing the images to not be visible, Two you have opened a second empty aperture library.
For one look at the search box in the upper right hand corner of the browser and make sure it says showing all.
For two look at the top of the Library pane of the Inspector, make sure it has the name of your main Aperture library.

  • Can't access Aperture support forum

Hi all, not sure whether this is the right place to report a problem with the Aperture Support forum - I couldn't find anywhere to report the problem so posted here. When I try to enter it I get the following error message
    "Unsupported Browser detected.
Announcement: Apple Support Communities has discontinued support for your current browser.
In order to provide the best platform for continued innovation, Apple Support Communities suggests using the latest version of Safari."
I am using Safari Version 7.1 (9537.85.10.17.1) and I can access the other forums without any problem.
    Thanks in advance

I just got this too, on Firefox, in Private Browsing mode. I was trying to access How to remove Adware? when it redirected to the same page as fleetwood reported. I've attached a screenshot. I'm using Firefox 33.0 on Mavericks 10.9.5. I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this either.
UPDATE: The link works fine now.

  • Can't access files now that I'm running 10.9.2

Hi again, i recently went to 10.9.2 but i no longer have access to my itunes my Movies or my pictures and im sure other stuff, the storage display tells me i'm almost out of memory so it's all here some where but i cant get to it, any advise would be great?
    Cheers

If all your files are missing
You may have logged in as a different user, such as Guest. Open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. Your name should be at the top of the user list, under Current User. See also this support article.
If files are missing from one folder
Change the Finder view mode; for example, from icon view to list view, or vice versa.
For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Clean Install gone bad.. Can't access HD now!

I recently was doing a clean install on my HD and while booted up on the Recovery Partition, I accessed the Disk Utility and formated and my system restarted and I got an error. I took the HD out of my Macbook and into an External HD Enclosure and plugged it into another Macbook and it now shows up on that Disk Utlity as Macintosh HD with no option of Partitioning the drive. I can't figure out what else to do. (FYI, its the very TOP drive, ignore the 500.11 GB and 320.07 Hard drives, The very top one listed as Macintosh HD is the one I screwed up!)

Did you have FileVault enabled on this disk? If so you must disable the user lock of FileVault:
    OS X (Lion/Mountain Lion)- About FileVault 2
OS X Lion- Using FileVault 2 and Lion Recovery
Boot to the Recovery HD and open Disk Utility from the main menu:
    Select the volume Macintosh HD.
In the Disk Utility toolbar, click Unlock.
Type the disk password when prompted, i.e. the login password of any unlock-enabled user on the affected Mac.
    Click Unlock.

  • Can't access Aperture 3 previews in iLife Media Browser

I know this has been posted before but I don't think I've seen a resolution yet ....
Since migrating all of my data etc from my MacBook to new iMac I can't see the Aperture previews in the Media Browser. I've tried reinstalling Aperture and previews are set to be shared with iLife (in Preferences).

Thanks for this - it didn't work, but something else did!!
Turns out there's actually a Knowledge Base answer on a similar matter (discovered after calling Apple Support). Just open Aperture from the dock whilst holding Option + CMD and then select to Repair the library - middle option. Worked straight away!

Once an iTunes Gift card is redeemed the balance is transferred to your iTunes and Mac Store associated accounts, so once redeemed the card has no value. There is a number of ways to check your balance. On the iPad open the iTunes or App Store app and from one of the stores main pages scroll to the bottom to see your credits. You can also see this balance by logging into the iTunes Store in iTunes on a computer as well.

  • I somehow locked myself out of my own movie due to iCloud and can't access it now..

I recorded a video a few days ago that took several takes before I got a recording I liked, and did a little bit of editing.  I believe I properly exported it to the Theater (I'm new to the program and learning my way around it.)  I then shut down the computer, and tried to come back to finish editing and upload it the next day.  I see the thumbnail in the Theater, but it is grayed out and has a small iCloud logo in the corner.  Upon some light reading, I found that iMovie kindly attempts to protect files using iCloud, but somehow I've been locked out of my own video.  I've tried signing in, and changing the iCloud settings (Documents and Data > Options > iMovie) but I cannot play, edit, or export the video now.  It won't seem to respond to anything I do.  Please help, I can't simply record it again and I'd really like to have this video.  Thanks for the help!

I am actually having a very similar problem. I spent a couple of weeks making a 12 minute promo video for my church - took a pretty good amount of time - and I can't find it. I can find old partial versions of it that I may have saved when I was making it, but not the finished project. However, I CAN see a thumbnail in iMovie Theater that has the name of the finished project, the correct length (11min, 58 sec), and it has a little cloud in the top right hand corner. But, no matter what I click on, nothing happens. I was literally just watching it about 2 hours ago. I was trying to upload it to Youtube, but it was taking too long, so I quit iMovie and unplugged my computer to take it home, and this is where I am. Help please!
