Can't add jpg files to Premier Elements 9 timeline

When I try to add jpg files to Premiere Elements 9 timeline, I get an error saying "This file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed". Windows 7 can open/display every one of the jpg files. Photoshop Elements can open them as well. I appreciate any help.

I tried to send you an e-mail ,but, your box was advised as"full". I can understand why somehow you closed the Forum on "Very disappointed with Premiere Elements". I would like to thank you for the advice you have indirectly given me on other technical matters. I cannot understand why Adobe do not allow their own Technicians to have an input to these Forums. I continue to be disappointed to Adobe Technical Phone and internet support in the Oceania Region .

Lots of questions, lots of answers needed as mentioned by Hunt. But please include what version of Premiere Elements that you are using when you reply.
How are you importing these file into your Premiere Elements project?
After you drag your file to the Timeline, do you see both an video and audio component (on Video 1/Audio 1) or is there nothing on the Audio 1 track? If you can see a wave form or file on Audio 1, have you checked all the program's volume settings including Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware and the ASIO settings?

For instance.
If i have a symbol call "data" and within this i have 4 elements called 1,2,3,4 how do i add styling to all these elements without having to re-write code for each element.
I know i can style a symbol called "data" by :
sym.$("data").css("font-family", "baumans, sans-serif", "font-size", "15px");
...But this does not style the content of the elements 1,2,3 and 4
If i were using standard CSS and HTML then all div's within a div called "data" would be styled the same.

1) You have a syntax error here: sym.$("data").css("font-family", "baumans, sans-serif", "font-size", "15px");
sym.$("data").css({ "font-family": "baumans, sans-serif", "font-size": "15px"} ); // correct
sym.$("data").css( "font", "15px baumans, sans-serif" ); //correct
2) Then, loading the jQuery file is not required. You can create a class or change tags.

Thanks for your quick response. The original movies were taken on a Canon ES970 (1990's). I don't know the resolution but things were not as high tech back then.,.. I used a Roxio software to convert them on my MacBook Air. I didn't realize that I could use Adobe Premiere Elements to do that or I would have. However my old camera did not have a cable to attach it to a computer and the Roxio software came with it.
I then saved the recordings on an external hard drive. I did not make movies from them using iMovie or edit them in any way. They are simply .MOV files and they can be played on my Mac. Upon realizing how much memory it takes to work on videos, I decided it might be easier to burn DVD's on my husband's new Dell desktop that came with Windows 8. I downloaded Quicktime as suggested and still the movies can't be added to Premiere.

Is there a way to move a file from Premier Elements 9 to Premier Elements 4 since it seems that 9 is slower and stalls much more often than Premier Elements 4?

With regard to your Premiere Elements 9 performance and related matters
1. Are you working from the Premiere Elements 9.0.1 Update? If not, see Help Menu/Update within the opened project or use the download from Adobe

2. Do you have the latest version of your video card driver according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card? If so, then try deleting the BadDrivers.txt file in the following path (if you have Windows 7 or 8 64 bit)

and, in the 9.0 Folder, you will find the BadDrivers.txt file that you delete. Remember to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
3. With regard to this file that you would like to use in Premiere Elements 4...can we assume that you are talking about a Premiere Elements 9 project file (project.prel) and not a file that you have imported into that project? There is a ClipMate Copy/Paste between projects that can be used for versions 8, 9, 10, and (except for transitions) 11. It does not work in 7, but I do not know that I have ever tried to use it in version 4.
Just some thoughts for now.

I'm using DW 8, and I have installed the 8.0.2 update. I'm
having trouble inserting certain JPG images into a site. I get an
error message pop-up that states "Dreamweaver can't open .jpg
files". It will allow me to insert some jpg files, but not all of
them. I've tried drag & drop and going through the Insert menu.
The files are not large at all. Doesn't appear to be any problem
with png's or gif's. It's incredibly frustrating. Anyone have any
suggestions? TIA.

most people suggest 72 because it was an old standard with
the early
macintosh DTP programs. For web use it's easier to
standardize on it because
when you make an image, you have to put ~some~ number in the
resolution box
and it might as well be 72 as any other number. It simplifies
moving image
files around in different applications if they are all the
same resolution.
For display in a browser, these will all have the same file
size and display
size in a web page:
600x600 pixels at 1dpi
600x600 pixels at 72dpi
600x600 pixels at 6000dpi
It's when they are used in other applications or when a
direct url like
/photos/1.jpg is printed out that they may display in the
resolution, not
the pixel dimension.
I came across a page once where the designer always saved his
images with a
resolution of 6000 dpi or some other odd number because he
thought that if
people dragged the image off the page to save it- most of
them wouldn't be
able to resize it. or some other idiot reason maybe.

i can't add any file to my itunes.when i wanted add a music,folder or file to my library,itunes crashed And i get the error message "iTunes has stopped working" and the only option I have is to close the program. I looked around the Apple suppport site and did everything they recommended. Like:uninstalling iTunes,Apple Software Update,adding the path and disconnecting internet.I get the newest version of itunes But nothing, I still can't add a file.unfortunately i should restore my iPhone but i can't add thr firmware. I have the same problem with itools and ifunbox.I am using Windows 7.
What should i do?

When I try to add m4a files in itunes it did not add it. Please help how can I add m4a files in itunes.

Further info: my housemate just drop-boxed (mac to mac) a few of his albums that work fine in his iTunes and the same thing, they'll show in a playlist with their correct details but not in the main library. iTunes is definitely processing after I add them, and they are definitely not corrupt (shown MP3 scan +repair) - I've attached a couple of pictures to clarify.

The WD My Passport, I purchased back in early December 2013 & I just used it the other day after I updated my Macbook... & of course it says in the online manual it works for Mac Lion, Mountain Lion, Snow Leopard but not this new Maverick update. Is there anything I can do?

I like the free demo of SuperDuper to make clones. It's free, Tiger and Leopard ready and is easy to use. If you buy the full version you can do incremental backups.
You should use Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, booted up on your install disk, before you make a clone of it.
I then partition my external disk, in Disk Utility, with a partition that is the same size , actually a tad bigger, as my system disk. I then use SuperDuper to clone my system disk over to that partition.
With a clone on an external FireWire drive (USB drives are not bootable on some Macs) you can bootup on it to do your repairs or just run your Mac anytime you have trouble with your main drive. Be careful, there are a few external FireWire drives out there that are not bootable on Macs. Check the drive's manual to be sure.
