Can't choose custom print size

I am trying to print a number of photos from aperture. I want to print one of the 8x6 inches and there is no preset for this in aperture.
Yesterday I wanted to print an image 10x8 on an A4 sheet and it wouldn't work, then I realised the aspect ratio wasn't the same as 8x10 and once that was fixed, the preset appeared in the "Image size" drop down. However, this time the image is the same aspect ratio as 8x6 but the preset isn't there. I tried the custom size but when I put in 20.32cm (no inches option??) it tells me that "the value 20.32 is to large. please provide a valid value"
20.32 fits well within the dimensions of the selected paper size, which is A4, so I just don't get it! If I choose "maximum to fit" and then back to custom, the size in the box i tried 20.32 in is 29.7. It just makes no sense!

See if this helps!!

  • Can't see actual print size.

Is there really not a way to get Aperture to show you the size of the print in the print dialog?
Seems simple enough, but if you Choose Custom Image size and uncheck the silly Crop to Fill and Rotate to Fit defaults, then your picture is scaled to the fit WITHIN a box the size you have specified. Either the width or the height will be somewhat smaller than the size you have specified. (Unless your box is exactly the same aspect ratio as the (still secret) aspect ratio of the original image).
The only way I can find the size is to add up the dimensions specified in the Margins dialog and then add to the box size and see which dimension doesn't add-up.
Can't Aperture display the size of the image it's about to print?
...or at least have an option to set the ruler zero marks to the edge of the image?
Aperture is running on a supercomputer and I need to do the actual size calculation in my head? What am I missing?

  • Officejet 5610 not able to create custom print sizes

Hi -- I use my Officejet 5610 for both my work and my personal printing needs.  On my work computer which has Windows XP as the operating system,  when I got to Properties and Paper Options/Quality tab there is a button for me to select "Custom Size".   On my personal computer which has Vista Home Basic as the operating system there is no option on the Paper Options/Quality tab to choose a custom print size.  Is there a driver that I might be missing which would allow the custom print size on the Vista computer?  I'm trying to print envelopes which are 6" x 9" and nothing I do seems to work.  I have managed to print one envelope using Letter size but that took about 6 hours to get one printed.   My envelopes keep causing a paper jam -- which once cleared from the printer is still showing up as a jam on the computer and I have to re-boot the whole system to clear it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Try the following
open solution center> Setting> Printer Settings> Print settings and you will find a custom option there and then create a new size and give it a name and when you print from any application you will see the new size reflection in the application. Are you not seeing the custom option as seen below?

  • Custom Printing Size for 5520

    Hello,
I have a HP 5520 and a Mac computer with a OS X 10.6 operating system. I'm trying to create a custom paper size to print a 5.25 x 5.25 in card. This isn't a typical paper size and am having trouble figuring out how to create a custom paper size. I know that I can do it because I've done it in the past but unfortunately do not remember how I figured it out. Any help and step by step instructions would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi @tbot0712,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are trying to create a custom printing size on Mac OS X 10.6 for your HP Photosmart 5520. I am happy to look into this for you!
According to this guide, Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X. Follow these steps to create and use a custom paper size in Mac OS X.
Step one: Create the new custom paper size
Load the custom-sized paper into the paper input tray.
In the software you are printing from, click File, and then click Page Setup.
From the drop-down list, select the name of your printer if it is not already selected.
Click Manage Custom Sizes in the Paper Size drop-down menu.
Click New, and then type a name for the custom paper size in the Paper Size Name box.
    note:
Do not use an existing paper size name for your new custom paper size name. For example, if a custom paper size is named A4, then the existing A4 paper size is no longer be available as a choice. Use a different, unique name for the custom size paper.
In the Width and Height boxes, type the dimensions and set the margins, if desired.
Click Done or OK, and then click Save.
Step two: Select the new custom paper size
Click File, and then click Page Setup.
Select the new custom paper size, and then click OK.
Click File, and then click Print.
    Select the Paper Handling panel.
Under Destination Paper Size, click Scale to fit paper size tab, and then select the custom paper size.
Change any other print settings, and then click OK or Print.
Hope this is the information you were looking for, and have a great day!

    Hi,
I would suggest you to uninstall Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool and then re-install the latest version.
Adobe Cleaner Tool:- Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs.
Latest version of Adobe Reader:- http://get.adobe.com/reader/
If you still experience the same issue, please share the following information:-
    - Screenshot of Adobe Reader showing printer options
    - Screenshot of Microsoft Word showing printer options
    - Screenshot of control panel- Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers

  • Migration - Custom Print Sizes

I am trying to migrate custom print sizes setup from one user profile to different employee, and there are quite a bit. In the future, where are these custom print settings stored and what is the best way to copy them between profiles?

Hi GroveEnt, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    They are located here...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompapers.plist
I'd copy it, change the Permissions to the new user, move the copy to the new users prefs folder & remove the copy from the end of it.

  • How do I print on a greeting card in landscape when I can't save custom paper size?

I have a J6450 running on XP SP3 with the latest drivers and patches installed.  I have greeting card stock measuring 6.5 by 10.0 inches and a Microsoft Word document with a custom paper size matching the that stock prints in landscape mode.  The printer error is "Paper Mistmatch.  Paper size or type is incorrect."  I have followed the suggestions on the HP support page, changing the Print, Properties, Features options to show "Other greeting card", but can't define a custom paper size to match the stock.  The Save option is not available.  What do I need to do to make this work?

Here is a link to a HP document for adjusting several settings that may help with your issue.

  • CS3 Printing Custom Print sizes since update 10.5.5

I'm running adobe CS3 on an intel 24"imac with all of the latest updates. When 10.5.5 was released I updated this computer. I used to be able to tell indesign to print a custom page size and type that information for the size on the indesign print dialog (not the page setup button on the print dialog). Now when I print from Indesign, I am able still able to type in custom page size but the printer only prints based on the default page size. It's as if indesign is not telling the postscript printer that there is a custom size. All other programs work correctly except for adobe products. I removed cs3 and re-installed it and that didn't help. I'm printing to a Harlequin rip 8.0. Thanxs.

Having the same issue with custom page sizes (CS3/10.5.5). This is not the same issue that is resolved by using "Defined by driver" in CS3 apps. That problem affected Fiery-based RIPs and was introduced with Leopard.
MacFixIt.com (http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20080917093457409) is running a story on it with some success stories. I've already restarted CUPS, reinstalled the printers, repaired disk permissions and tried the "Defined by driver" approach (that doesn't work so well when you want to print custom page sizes to a platesetter or large format).
Next is reinstalling CUPS (http://www.cups.org/ddk/software.php), then reverting back to 10.5.4 (if I can figure out how).
All the while, Apple will blame Adobe and the printer driver, Adobe will blame Apple and the printer driver, and our prepress grinds to a halt.

  • Photoshop crashes when selecting custom print size

On a Mac, Photoshop CS5. I can print just fine but if I try to create custom paper sizes it crashes. How do I fix this?

Creating custom paper sizes is something you do in the printer driver dialog, so most likely the printer driver is crashing.
Check with the printer maker for updated drivers.

  • How can I choose my printer's rear tray on my MacBook?

    Hello everyone,
I have something strange going on on my MacBook when it comes to printing...
I would love to be able to print address labels, photos etc. on actual labels and photo paper using the rear tray of my printer (Canon MG5150). The weird thing is that I cannot for the life of me find the option to choose the rear tray. I have expanded the print dialogue to show all possible options, but there's absolutely no way to choose my printer's paper source. So I'm stuck with the standard cassette, which I do not dare use for anything thicker than normal printing/copying paper. Everything else printer-wise works fine from the MacBook, I just can't select the paper source (regardless which programme I'm working in on the MacBook).
Something else I've tried is downloading the latest printer driver from Canon. No joy there though, doesn't make a blind bit of difference. I've also tried opening programmes using Rosetta just in case, but that doesn't seem to change anything either.
My iMac never presented me with this problem; it always let me print from whichever paper source I wanted (using the same Canon printer). Some background info: my MacBook has Mac OS 10.6.8 on it, my iMac Mac OS 10.4. Could it have something to do with the operating system? They are both Intel, aren't they, so why would the options be there on one Mac, but not the other?
So, where could my menu options have disappeared to?? Have Apple changed their printing dialogues for the worse or something? It seems such a shame I can't use my MacBook to its full potential and have to resort to roundabout ways of being able to do what I want. I'm hoping it's something really obvious, and that someone can help me.
    Thanks for any advice!
    Kind regards,
    Esther

    Hello-
You can restore network defaults on the printer.
Press the Setup icon. Then go to Network Menu, scroll down to "restore network defaults".
This should clear any "Admin" settings that were set.
Then you can turn radio on and run the wireless wizard to get back on network.
    I hope this helps.

  • Custom Print Size not printing to Epson 4900

I had Epson Support on the phone yesterday as I have been unable to print anything wider than 22 inches from Lightroom 5.7 . The custom page size is 17" by 30". The tech took over my computer, made sure all was set up correctly. The lightroom print module showed the proper dimensions and the tech hit print. The print came out resized at 22 inches. The tech then opened the same photo in Photoshop CS5, set up a custom paper size to 17 by 30 and hit print. The print preview showed the proper dimensions and he sent it to the printer. The print came out perfectly at 17x 30. He had no explanation but said it had to be a lightroom problem and not a problem with the 4900
All firmware and software updates have been downloaded to the printer. The computer is a IMac Intel running the latest OS. Does anyone have any ideas why the custom size will print properly from Photoshop, but not from Lightroom
    Thanks in advance

I asked you a question in the Beginners forum. It usually isn't a good idea to post in more than one forum.

  • Custom print sizes

I have a Photosmart C6280 All-in-one. Over time, I have added several custom sizes in the print preferences. I would like to remove them and start from scratch. I cannot see how to do this. I tried a power reset but they are still there. I am running Windows 7 64x . Any advice please?

  • HT1430 I would like to share and email pictures from my album in my ipad but I don't see the logo of email. I can only choose FB, print and copy. What happen to my email logo?

i would like to email pictures from my photo album in ipad but the logo of email is not there to send. I can only choose FB, copy and print. what happen to my email logo?

I wouldn't want to say exactly, however I would imagine that it has to do with the fact you use the same Apple ID on both devices. Since Facetime was activated on the phone, with the number, and then activated on the iPad with the email and same Apple ID, they are somehow linked. I'm not sure that you can separate it without having a different Apple ID on the two devices. Otherwise you can look at this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3367 and see if that helps you any.

  • Photosmart 7525 Windows 7 How can I choose to print in black only?

HP Photosmart 7525 All-in-one printer. Windows 7 software.
Is there a way to choose to print text in black only, even though there may be color on the page? When I choose to print from Microsoft Word, it does not give me an option, and I can't find reference anywhere in instruction manuals. Can someone help me please?

    Hi,
The are 3 options for Grayscale/Greyscale:
None (or Off): print in colors (including black )
High Quality grayscale: mixing all colors to make black & white
Black Ink Only: Use black in only to print.
You can set one option as default and change each print job to meet your need. Please use the following steps to set default:
Double click printer icon on desktop,
    Click Advanced in Paper/Quality tab
Select the one you want (above list)
    Click Apply/Ok to get out.
    Regards.
