Can't compile files! Please help.

Hi people,
I've posted before mentioning that I can't actually compile any files on my work PC. The machine is Windows 2000 (SP4). I downloaded the latest JDK. Here is what I set my Environment variables to:
User variables to:
Variable: Path
Value: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_04\bin;
System Variables to:
Variable: Path
Value: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_04\bin;
I have also created a directory where i would like my java work to go into. It's called C:\myjava . I put things in the myjava folder. When i go into the command prompt, and go into the directory myjava, and i type javac name_file.java i get:
error: cannot read ..... .java
Here's one example:
class MyFirst{
public static void main(String[] args) {
int sum = 0;
for (int current = 1; current <= 10; current++) {
sum = sum + current;
System.out.println("Sum = " + sum);
I compile it by doing javac MyFirst.java and I get that error.
Please can someone help me?!

error: cannot read ..... .javaThen you don't have a ..... .java file in that directory, contrary to your belief. Or at least if you do have one, it isn't readable due to some kind of rights issue.
My guess: You created the source file with notepad, and it is actually named .... .java.txt and you have turned on the "hide extensions of known file types" option.
