Can't connect iPod nano since latest iTunes update. Please help :(

Ever since I downloaded the latest versions of iTunes, my 5th gen iPod nano won't connect. I get a pop-up that says, "Could not install hardware" or something to that affect. I switched cables and usb ports, and no change. What should I do?
I was thinking I want to go back to a previous iTunes version, but I have no idea if you can uninstall a version. I've only ever seen tips on uninstalling the whole thing and reinstalling the same one.
The best "solution" I've gotten was to buy a new iPod, that I was out of luck and the new iTunes versions obviously don't support older iPods, but I don't think that's right. If it is, Apple has lost a customer forever.
If anyone has any tips, I would really appreciate your help.

About one out of every 5 times now my Iphone will sync, the other times it will give one of several errors(see thread above) or it will just stay on the syncing deal forever.
I have not put ANY third party apps on or done anything. Hey Apple, instead of continually putting out updates to turn peoples unlocked phones into bricks, how about addresses some of these syncing issues??
thanks!!

  • Can't transfer files to iPod Shuffle since latest iTunes update

AFAIK, the only way to add a file such as a song or podcast to my ipod shuffle is to right-click the file and scroll down to 'Add to Playlist' and then there should be an icon for the ipod shuffle there among the playlists. But since the lates update, even though it is connected, the icon does not appear, and so I have no way to add specific tracks to my ipod shuffle.
    Anyone know what to do?

I tried another way but it didn't work. I tried to autofill from a playlist, but I got a message saying that autofill didn't work because no files in the playlist can be transferred to the ipod.
Now I'm going to try restoring it to the factory settings. This is really annoying.

    Hi Kellyssi,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're being asked repeatedly to check terms and conditions, try restarting and then resetting your iPhone:

    Try this:

    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • I can only listen to music in iTunes when i'm connected to the internet. Everything seems to have uploaded onto iCloud - something I didn't sign up for. Happened with the latest iTunes update. Help!

I can only listen to music in iTunes when i'm connected to the internet. Everything seems to have uploaded onto iCloud - something I didn't sign up for. Happened with the latest iTunes update.
All of the music is still on my computer, but when I play it through iTunes, it either buffers first (when I'm connected to the internet) or it is greyed out (offline) and I can't listen to it.
This is beyond annoying. Is there anything I can do to sort this out?
    Cheers.

  • Hi, i'm having trouble with syncing my iPod. (after the latest iTunes-update)

It's a classic, but I have no idea what generation... but it was bought in early 08, and have 80gb. Anyway, it has been working fine all the time, but by the latest iTunes-update, it has stopped working. (mac) Every time I try to connect it with my computer, iTunes says that "this iPod appears to be destroyed, try to restore" (I'm having iTunes in Norwegian, so not sure if this is the direct translation, but hopefully you'll get the picture) - and I try to do this, again and again, but nothing seems to work. I have tried to turn off the computer, put iPod in disc-mode, let the battery run out, give it a two-week break, and now I'm out of guesses on what to do. But no matter what I do it allways appear to have zero songs on it after I am done syncing, and I allways get the "try to restore"-message when i connect it again.
It's possible that it's just old age or something, but I really want to try everything first, as it seems to be all right otherways. It also works when I connect it with my friend's  PC, but since she has ****** taste of music () it's not an option. I have a MacBook, also from 2008.
And just to clearify. I have an iPad2, and an old iPod nano (2006) and both works with my computer/iTunes.

  • Can't fuse music from iPod to new PC iTunes Library - please help!!

I recently moved to a new country and transferred all my music on my iPod. Just bought a new PC and installed my iTunes, but can't figure out how to get my iPod music onto my Library. Please help, I'm getting frustrated!!!

Apparently, you open the music folder from your iPod drive (after it's been connected), then highlight all the files from the iPod folder and drag them to your My Music folder and import the folder to My Library. Don't forget to enable view of hidden files beforehand. Takes a little while, depending on how much music you have on your iPod.

  • Since latest iTunes update my iPod Classic no longer plays in Bose Sound Dock - how can I fix?

My iPod Classic charges, but no longer has sound when plugged into my Bose Sound Dock. I have tried resetting my iPod per troubleshooting instructions on both the Apple and Bose websites. I have not had any issues with speakers before. This problem began after plugging iPod into MacBook Pro and updating iTunes. I have turned both devices off (unplugged Sound Dock from power source) and tried other outlets and still am unable to get sound from Sound Dock despite the fact that it still charges the iPod. iPod works with Bose headphones, but no longer in Sound Dock. Help! Is this fixable?

First make sure your Bose Sound Dock is turn on, and pick the right input of source.
Have you tried to increase the volume of your Bose system ?
If still does not solve, then do a Restore (not reset) for your iPod, which will erase your iPod completely and sync with your iTunes once again.
Then reconnect it with your Bose sound dock, if it still does not work, likely it can be a problem of your Bose.

  • Can you connect ipod nano to more than one pc wiyh no music loss....help!

Hi, I have a iPod nano and I would like to know if you can sync the ipod to more than one pc at a time without loosing all the music on it when you connect to another pc i.e I have a pc at work and one at home and would like to us them both with the same ipod nano to download music...

      Windows XP

Yes long as you have it set to manual update. If you started syncing to your home PC, connect it there and rightclick it in itunes, hit options and select "Manual Update" and hit OK.
Now you can connect it to your home and work PC and manually drag and drop songs to it. Now if your buying music on the work PC, you will also want to use windows to add the music files to the iPod, so when you get home you can add these music files to your home PC and make backups

  • I need to get my music from my Ipod, to my computer/Itunes. Please Help!

Hi! Yesterday, I restored my computer to its factory settings. I thought I had backed all of my music up onto a jumpdrive, but when I plugged it in, it only had about half of my songs. So I'm missing over 500. I've looked at plenty of things that tell me to change my settings in my computer to "show hidden files and folders" But it doesn't show any folders in the first place. All it says is Morgan's Ipod under Portable Devices. When I open it, it says "internal storage" Thats all. It does nothing when I change the settings. Please help, I get most of my music from CD's that I borrow from the library, so it work be extremely difficult to get them all over again.

    1) make sure iTunes on the new install is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPod but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPod with it.
above works for items purchased on the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • IPod song data to iTunes?  Please Help!

I've lost my iTunes library data files but still have all of my song files. I've added the songs back to my iTunes library... Is there a way I can retrieve all of the song data like, last played, play count and playlists if they are still on my iPod? Thanks.

Don't panic! I think there's hope. I'm at a disadvantage because right now I'm troubleshooting my Mac, so I can't connect my iPod and experiment, but I still have some suggestions for you.
First of all, you haven't updated or connected your iPod since you lost your library, have you? The ratings and album art and whatnot are still intact on the iPod?
Because I can't look on my own iPod right now, I can't guarantee anything, but I would assume there is a file on the iPod similar to (or identical to) the iTunes library file. Of course, these files are hidden by default. In order to see hidden files (not sure if there is a native method in Tiger) I would suggest downloading TinkerTool. It's a third-party application, but I've used it for a while now and found it to be completely safe and effective. It promises not to "change any component of the operating system" and doesn't run background processes. However you do it, once you can see hidden files, look around on the iPod for a library file. Before you connect your iPod, of course, make sure in your iTunes preferences you have turned off automatic syncing, otherwise all the information you're looking for will be erased! You MAY be able to copy this library file, along with all your songs, from your iPod to your computer, but I'm afraid this is as far as I know. It would be helpful just to know if you can find that library file on the iPod.
