Can't Connect Printer to Wireless - Insists the Right Password is WRONG!!!

Help!
My stupid HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911A Inkjet won't let me setup wireless printing on it....the 2nd time--
the FIRST time it worked great- easy peasy. Same password for the wireless router today as last time. It's a Verizon router, password's on the back, has *not* changed since i first set it up before, & it worked. wth.
Since i must set up wireless printing again, my idiotic printer software insists that the password is not possible because it's the "wrong length." (Has 9 characters.) Well, it worked GREAT last time, HP genius software writers!
This printer insists that my router password MUST be either 6 or 15 characters long. But it's not. It's 9 and it's what Verizon gave my landlord. Sorry. Now what?
Please help.... What on earth can i do to make my printer understand i am using a good password for my wireless network??

First, thank you for the advice.
Last night i stayed up late fighting with this thing. I don't give up easily.
Before I received your answer this morning, found something that, oddly, worked.
Went into my Windows settings (I have 8.1) & tried to connect to my Office Jet 86100 directly from Windows by bypassing all HP software completely.
It worked - hooray. Printed the test page on the first try; then i went into Adobe & tried to print my auto insurance. Worked terrifically, no problem.
So then, I went back to the HP setup to see if it would stop acting crazy, since windows had gotten it to work.
At first, it said it couldn't connect when i turned the wireless off, then back on.
I went off and did something else.
When i came back, somehow, amazingly, the wireless indicator was blue, indicating excellent signal strength.
I i came back to the laptop and tried to install the HP printer software again. Doesn't make much sense, but it *finally* worked this time!!
The one problem i did have, when entering my printer's IP address in (which it asked for; either that or the network name, which was already showing up on the very same screen in the HP printer setup software) -- it would not take my printer's IP address at all. I typed it in correctly: 192.168.1.5. , periods in the right place and all. No matter what it said my IP address was configured wrong. WTH?
So, instead, even though it was plainy showing me the network name right there in front of my face, I typed the network name in instead of IP address. Worked first time.
So i think this HP printer software is buggy and SOME....BODY needs to debug it and re-release a fix. It just should not be this difficult to set up the same printer on the same laptop on the same network the second time.

I have copied and pasted your reply so in case my printer gets disconnected and I need to reconnect but it doesn't work again, before I bug you I'll try that.

What type of encryption are you using with your wireless network -WEP or WPA?
If your wireless router supports both which it should unless it is quite old and you are using WEP, try switching to WPA which is much more secure than WEP which is important if you have a Windows PC or any Windows based device connected to your network.
In addition, when was the last time you checked Netgear's website to see if there is a firmware update available for your wireless router model that you haven't installed?

Can't connect printer to my wireless network

I am running Windows 8.1. Had HP Officejet 4620 and just bought a new HP Photosmart 7520. I can't connect either to wireless network. My Dell laptop is connected to my apartments wifi so I do not have a router. When I display my printer info it shows correct wifi name and gives an IP address with a strong signal.
when I print the network configuration page it shows I am connected. Help!!!!! I am currently connected by USB cable.

I would be happy to help you.
I understand you aren't able to connect to the wireless network but you can print by a usb connection.
If you upgraded to Win8.1, then I would uninstall and reinstall the software again to get it to work.

If the computer already had Win8.1 then I would recommend to power cycle the router and the computer. Turn the computer off. Disconnect the routers power cable, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the power cable. Wait till it's ready. Then turn the computer back on again.
Try it now.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

Can not connect printer HP photosmart all in one 6510 with my windows 7 home edition PC

Stuck! Please help. I'vre uninstalled and reinstalled several times: restore PC to previous working time; checked all passwords and IP addresses. Do wireless connection (home group) network - says it can't connect up by wireless, evenb though it says printer is connected up to internet as is PC. I can't connect Airport Express wirelessly to network so that AirTunes and internet are available simultaneously. My old AE allowed this but can't make the new one work that way.

In your instructions, you say to use the same encryption type as the router has set up. well, I am using the WEP 64 bit encryption and the Airport Utility does not have this...it has 40 bit. Is this a problem, or do I have to be using a the same type of encrytion ?
WEP is available in either 40 or 104-bit, but is usually "advertised" as either 64- or 128-bit respectively. For example, 64-bit WEP uses a 40 bit key (also known as WEP-40), which is concatenated with a 24-bit initialization vector (IV) to form the 64-bit RC4 traffic key. So, WEP 64 on the Linksys & 40-bit is equivalent.
What concerns me more is the loss of bandwidth performance you are experiencing when connecting the AX. When the AX is configured as a wireless client it is acting just like any other wireless devices (computer, laptop, printer, etc.) and not like another router. This should cause little or no bandwidth loss. True the more secure the wireless encryption used WPA2 vs. WEP, the more overhead is required for security, but the differences you are seeing seem excessive.
It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference in the immediate area that is preventing your Linksys from providing a good clean signal.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like the following to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible:
For Macs:
o MacStumbler
o iStumbler, or
For PCs:
o NetStumbler

Thanks for replying. The plan you have it would be an additional charge to add the hotspot feature. It's not free with the Nationwide plan. You would need to add the feature online at www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Click Start, select All Programs, select HP,
Select Your printer name,
Select Printer Setup and Software Selection,
Select eighter Convert a USB connected printer to wireless or Connect a new printer and Follow the onscreen instructions.

Epson has a bit of software called EasyMP for PC's or Macs - this can be used wired USB / VGA / HDMI - or used wirelessly from either device without too much trouble.
If you give the Projector an IP Address in its own "Settings" Menu and then connect wirelessly using Epson's iProjection App for the iPad it should work.

I am having difficulty connecting my internet phone to the internet. I have a Comcast Modem with only 1 ethernet port which is connected to the Airport Express. We are using a secured wireless network and I do not have a way of entering a password or identifiying the network on the Internet Phone. Will I be able to connect the phone to the LAN for Internet access or do I need something else? Normally I would simply try this out, but we have an old Airport express as the primary wireless router and we'll need to re-work out in home network a bit to get the newer Airport closer to the phone. I'd like to know if this is doable before we put all the effort in. Thank you

The Ethernet port on the "fios box" (I assume you are referring to a DVR/STB) is not active. However it's easy to use a MoCA adapter to get a direct connection if you have a working coax outlet. Simply search "MoCA adapter" in the "Ask the Community" search box for details. Also look here:

Can't connect to 5GHz Wireless on Airport Extreme

I just bought an Airport Extreme, and enabled Wireless Internet. Settings:
Radio Mode: 802.11n only (5 GHz)
Channel: Automatic
Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
I can't seem to connect to the AE with these settings. I added a preferred network with the right settings, and tried to connect manually to the Connection's name with WPA2 Personal + the password that's in the AE.
Strange thing is, I works perfectly when I change it to:
Radio Mode: 802.11n only (2.4 GHz)
Channel: Automatic
Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
So 2.4GHz works, but as soon as I change it to 5GHz, I can't connect anymore. I installed the n-software that came with the AE, and it's working since 802.11n on 2.4GHz gives no problems. I'm also about 1 meter away from the AE, so distance can't be a factor.

I guess it should; I installed the update that came with the Airport Extreme. I also guess it's already working, since I'm currently using the setting '802.11n only (2.4 GHz)'.
I think some of my settings might be wrong, but I can't figure out which. Changing the radio mode to 5GHz and setting a WPA2 Personal key is all I can think of
