Can't connect through "extention"
I cannot connect through "extentions" in Illustrator CS4, which I just recently purchased. I can get to the Kuler site, but not through a Kuler desktop program.
I'm lost. Any suggestions? I read another thread on this problem, but it's from 2008!
This does not seem to be a support forum since there is no support...
Due to limited access to the classroom I've just installed the Adobe air version, but it suffers from the same problems...
Because it seems Kuler points to:
http://www.robtex.com/ip/76.74.170.30.html
IE -> internet tools -> Connections -> Lan settings -> select proxy setting -> click advance
In the box for “Do not use proxy for addresses beginning with”
Add:
;76.74.170.30
HOW is it possible that developers can still create software without taking Proxy servers into account.
Adobe? Any response at all?

WRT150N v1.1: Can't connect through router, internet light isnt on
Recently there was a thunderstorm last week and it somehow shorted out my cable modem. (It was hooked up to a surge protector and still somehow got damaged..) The router seemed to be fine, however, after having replaced the modem, my desktop can't connect through to the internet nor my laptop on it's wifi. The internet only works when I direclty link the modem to my desktop/laptop.
I've tried unplugging the modem and router for 30 seconds then re-plugginging the modem, waiting for initialization, then booting up the router but i've found no luck in getting it working as it used to.. I searched up past posts, and the "Setting-Up a Linksys Router with Cable Internet Service" doesnt say what to do if the light for internet doesnt turn on.
Another odd thing the router does is that, for some reason, the 3rd port for ethernet is lit up when theres no cable in the port. I checked to see if the light would work in other ports when it was connected and it shows to work fine, just with the additional 3rd port constantly on.
I'm not sure if it helps, but after hooking up the router I pinged it and it responded with:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping 192.168.1.1

Anyone know how I can get this router working again?Hm, i didn't see any change in anything after completing the steps.. I just had my cable/internet provider service technician come over and take a look at it. Basically, he told me the modem is probably fried somewhere and said I should invest in getting a new router. Surge protectors are apparently just a pretty name for "a good way to blow out multiple expensive devices." So now I'm out to get a wrt160N

MySQL - Another 'Can't connect through mysql.sock' question...
Hey, folks.
So I'm trying to install MySQL to run with PHP on my PowerBook G4 (running 10.4.7, non-server edition) to use it to test out a shopping cart program for a website I'm building.
I had it working as of Monday, when I installed it, got all the permissions set, built the necessary tables, and changed the root password (and logged in just to make sure it worked before retiring for the night)...but today I realized that I had somehow installed the wrong version of MySQL (I connected to it earlier today and discovered it was 4.026 - and I needed to be running MySQL 4.1.20, in order to be running the same version as my webhost).
So I decided to upgrade. I downloaded and installed the 4.1.20 file, followed the directions about creating the system tables, changed permissions via sudo chown -R mysql:mysql data...and now, when I go to change the root user password (just to make sure it's still the same as it was), I get the following error:
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists!
This error also occurs when I try to simply startup MySQL. I also now find I can't connect via MySQL Admin, either - it gives me the same error. Pinging the host works, however.
Sooo...anyone have any ideas? I've read up on the forums re: Apple changing the socket to /var/mysql/mysql.sock as of 10.4.4, but it seems that would have affected me earlier this week when I was running the previous version of MySQL, too (I certainly haven't upgraded the OS since then).
Regardless, I can't connect through MySQL Admin using the /var/mysql/mysql.sock socket, anyway...nor the standard /tmp/mysql.sock.
Any thoughts on what might be causing this? I should confess, I'm well-versed in DOS (ugh), but UNIX is not really my strong suit, so I'm still figuring out how to get around in the Terminal...
Thanks so much for any input you can give me!
(Oh, one more thing, since it'll probably come up - I'm not currently connecting via PHP, but I will be eventually. Right now, I just want to be able to change my root password, and login from the Terminal)!
Thanks again!\
PowerBook G4 1GHz 15 Mac OS X (10.4.7)Alright, folks.
Somehow my computer has fixed itself. After wiping the mysql directories entirely, then reinstalling, I was still getting the same error.
After going back to the original "MySQL-On-Mac" site at Marc Liyanage's entropy.ch site & following some of the instructions there, somehow my problem seems to have fixed itself.
I wish I could tell you what the solution was (to benefit anyone else having this problem), but since I was simply following the unix commands listed there (without much explanation, at times, as to what they were doing), I just know that somehow it worked.
(But if I had to make a guess, I think it had to do with starting the server via sudo ./bin/mysqld_safe &)... -
Our web server has been changed can't connect through outlook now
Dear Members,
i am really thankful for you i have learn a lot of things from this forum.......today i want to ask one question about outlook, we have a website and we use the company email addresses some period ago we received a lot of spam emails when we talk to our
hosting company they said we will transfer your website to a new server. as they transferred it to new server all the email address were deleted automatically. but we got the backup of emails and create all the email address with same id again,,,,........problem....is
this that now we can't connect through outlook for example if i try to setup outlook it goes up to "try unencypted connection" and here stops that can not establish a connection. if i go directly to mail server there all is fine. the hosting company
give us all the spec that incoming port should be 110 outgoing 587 and pop3. i tried all this but not working even i tried on such a computer where never outlook was installed .....but there it does not work as well..................Thanks;;;;;;;;
Tahir MehmoodHi Tahir,
According to your description, my understanding is that you can use OWA but Outlook using pop3 can't work. Right?
In general, the port for SMTP they are 465 (SSL) and 587(StartTLS) and 25 (unencrypted).
The following list for your reference:
Default Ports:

Port:
SMTP Server (Outgoing Messages)

587
Secure (SSL)

POP3 Server (Incoming Messages)

As you said, your outgoing port is 587, I recommend you refer to the following screenshot to set your pop3 setting, and check if any helps:

MySQL can't connect through socket error
I have been mucking around with MySQL and have broken something.
Running 10.4.3 server, I get a "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)" error
Was working fine before I decided to mess with things - I think I altered the hostname from localhost to 192.168.x.x etc.
Now I cannot connect, and MySQL manager won't start it. I would like to make it work again rather than have to install a different version.
When MySQL manager installs the requisite files for the first time, where does it store these, and how can I do this again?
Thanks

MBPro Can't Connect through SMB, Can VNC to iMac then SMB though
Hey guys,
I have an MBP with 10.5.6 and an iMac with 10.5.6
I have SMB connections to a file server that I can connect to. On the iMac (hard wired into the network/domain), all connections are fine and I can connect to the server whenever.
On the MBP, though, i can only connect to the server during what seems liek specific times of the day. For example in the morning, I can connect and transfer files without a problem, but in the evening, it won't let me connect. The servers do not have any time of day preference and do not regulate users based on time of day either. Also, my VPN is working fine and is a non issue.
What is strangest though, is that I can VNC to my iMac, then connect to those very same servers even though I couldn't directly from the MBP.
Any ideas?I have also noticed that this is happening to a few other people in my department, so it seems like it may be an OS thing, but I am still not sure. Anybody?

I've had the same setup for two years, and everything was functioning fine until two days ago, but now I can't establish a wi-fi connection to a laptop or a connection to a desktop through a WRT54G router. I can connect to the network on the laptop, but a red X appears between the router and the internet icons in Network Sharing. When I open a browser on the desktop I receive "Server not found". A direct ethernet cable connection from the modem to both computers works fine.
I have power cycled all devices, I have reset the modem and the router, and I have tried different cables. I have also tried a second WRT54G router, but the same thing happens. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the reply. I initial powered everything down, disconnecting all cables and cords on both routers and the modem. When that didn't work, I went into the modem's configuration page and hit the "Factory Reset" button. I also pressed the reset button on the back of both routers and went in and set it up again with the SSID I used before.
A wired connection from the modem to the router and from the router to my desktop returns a "Server Not Found" message when I open a browser. I think the fact that both a wired connection from the modem to my laptop and from the modem to my desktop works indicate a router issue, but I can't be certain. You mentioned a configuration problem or a wifi issue, can you recommend a setting or place on the router's configuration page where I might be overlooking something? Thanks for the help. -

Although port 8443 is mosten quoted as correct port for CalDAV and CardDAV, port 8843 can be found both on Apple's website and other places:
see Technical Note 1649 to find port 8443 listed for iCal and port 8843 for Address Book
Mac OS X Lion Server for Dummies (sic) lists port 8843 on pages 236 and 238 but port 8443 in many other places
when you want to push iCal and Address Book information with Profile Manager, Profile Manager lists port 8443 for iCal but port 8843 for Address Book as default:
So I hope you understand I'm somewhat puzzled.
I did get the Address Book working for my Lion desktops with the all the necessary certificates as far as I know, just not for the iOS devices (iPhone and IpPad). iCal sharing from Lion Server works fine on both Lion and iOS devices. -
Hello All -
I just upgraded to 10.4.6 and am using the server to store my images (Mac & PC). I use altiris for the PC side and while using 10.3.9, I created a boot disk that allowed me to connect to my mac server. Now in 10.4.6 using the same disks I keep getting an authentication error.
User "REIMAGE" failed to authenticate with "dsAuthMethodStandard:dsAuthNodeNTLMv2" (-14090)
The weird thing is I can connect to the same share using a WXP machine and through SMB on my Mac using the same account that the boot disk use.
The account is a local account on the server.
Anyone else having such issues?
Thanks for any helpThe user "reimage" should, technically, be defined in a shared LDAPv3 domain with that user's authentication authority set to Open Directory. Accounts defined in local NetInfo domains can use the following authentication authorities: Shadow Hash or Crypt. Accounts defined in Open Directory domains can use both of these plus an authority called "Open Directory," which uses both Kerberos and Apple's Password Server.
When connecting from Windows, you'll be using one of the following authentication hash methods: LAN Manager (DOS/Windows 9x), NTLMv1, NTLMv2, or Kerberos. The first three methods are only available in Password Server, not Crypt of Shadow Hash. (Technically, the Password Server does use shadow hashes, and the user could have his/her authentication attribute set to Shadow Hash, but the Shadow Hash method used by Apple is stronger than what can be decrypted by some of these Windows-specific hashes. You may have seen a warning explaining this when you enable Windows sharing on a 10.4 box and have to pick which users can connect.)
Thus, to be able to reliably connect from Windows boxes, create a shared LDAP directory domain by setting your server to Open Directory Master in the Role pop-up menu of the Open Directory section in Server Admin, ensure that the user's authentication authority is "Open Directory," and that the user is defined in the LDAP domain.

Can't connect through Shared Internet
I am sharing internet via my PPC mini (OSX 10.4.7). However, I am unable to connect my Ichat account on my new Macbook via this shared internet. The Bonjour works fine, though. I would be grateful for any suggestions.
Hi inamacworld,
Have I git this right ?
ISP shared to several Houses of which you share that connection inside the house with at least the landlord and then through your Mac Mini to your MacBook. Is that Correct ?
As this is more of a Networking problem I would suggest going to Tiger > Getting Online & Networking forum to find out about using Internet sharing and it's limits.

Having a problem out of nowhere really getting this MacBook back online through Ethernet.....it's not the modem because my old computer gets online as well as the ps3.....I think it has something to do in network diagnostics but I can't get it.
Thanks!hi there-
to determine which network port is being used go to the blue apple > system preferences > network and then on the show scroll menu select "network port configurations". then make sure the card is detected there, select it, and then deselect any unused network ports. (the rest of them). [ 8 ) ] -
Safari can't connect through proxy
I just installed OS X 10.5.6 on a new MBP and migrated my old 10.4.11 PB account. Now when I connect to a vpn and set a proxy to be used, every web access times out.
But this only happens with Safari! When I use the same settings in FireFox, I can perfectly access the web.
What also puzzles me is: When checking the proxy settings in terminal, I get a segmentation fault:
# networksetup -getwebproxy airport
Enabled: Yes
Server: proxy01.domain.secret.com
Port: 8080
Segmentation fault
Also when I telnet to proxy01.domain.secret.com on port 8080 and give it a HTTP command like
GET http://google.com/ HTTP/1.0
I get a proper response. But still Safari is not using the proxy.I entered the proxy manually.
But in the meantime I got the slight suspicion that it might be vpnc that's causing the trouble. -
Switched from DSL to cable, can't connect through Airport Extreme.
Network help required!! I switched from my spotty, poor DSL hookup this afternoon, to a new faster cable hookup. I have 5 devices to attach through an airport extreme. All 5, ( 2 iMacs 1 iPhone 1 iPad all wireless 1 XBox wired ) on dsl, hooked up this morning, now on cable, only 1 at a time. And only after restarting the cable modem. The only part of my network that changed is the isp...thoughts?
I have the cable to the modem, ethernet to AE, wireless signal to iDevices, ethernet to XBox.Follow the expert instructions in this User Tip provided by forum guru Tesserax:
