Can't Connect to the Store
Hello, need some help if anyone knows of a solution.
B/G: Windows XP os, iTunes 7.0.1, iPod Video 5G 30GB v.1.2
Problem: In iTunes, when I click on the "Music Store" link in the Source list, the status bar will start to go across, and then without warning, iTunes will close. I do not get any type of error message, or connectivity prompt, nothing. I'm not sure what is casuing this, I have no trouble connecting iPod and syncing. All of my songs play just fine, I just can't get to the store. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I would also like to hear from anyone who may have or had a similar experience/problem.
TYIA
p.s. I have re-installed, and re-started several times, same result.
There are a number of threads on this subject. iTunes 7.01 appears to have a serious bug that prevents many Windows users from accessing the iTunes store. I guess nobody from Apple reads this board.

ITunes can't connect to the store
Hi everyone! It's since a couple of weeks ago that I have trouble connecting to the iTunes Store from my iTunes. I had the latest version of iTunes 10, and it worked all just fine. Then all of a sudden one day, for no evident reason, it says it can't connect to iTunes Store, because the internet connection isn't active, but in fact the connection works! Also, I can't access my account from iTunes, but I can listen to radio stations!! And when I run the Diagnostics for the network connection, I get only the third dot red, where it says it failed the "safe connection to iTunes Store".
So I make a test, I try to connect to iTunes Store from my iPod Touch, using the very same internet wi-fi connection I use for my pc. And guess what? It works perfectly! This makes me think the trouble is in my computer then. So I check the guide and I update my OS (Windows XP 32 bit, with SP3), with no results.
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, with no results. The last thing I tried was the downgrade to iTunes 9, with the only difference that now when I run the Network Diagnostics, it gives me all the green dots, but still iTunes won't connect to the store!
I really don't know what to do anymore... If someone could please help me, I would be very grateful! Thank you very much in advance for your attention.
Cesco87xxxThank you for your attention... I just installed the latest version of iTunes, and I ran the Network Diagnostics, as you told me. The result is the same as the first time, I get the third red dot "Secure link to iTunes store failed". Here are the details of the diagnostics, if they can be some help:

Updated to iTunes 7.6 and now i can't connect to the store
I getting an error message saying it timed out. This happened when i first downloaded iTunes 7.5 on my new Vista running computer a month ago but i fixed it by going into Norton and putting iTunes to allow. I went to go do the same thign because maybe it reset but it is still on allow. Can someone please help me.
I posted this in another thread, but read the bottom paragraph.....Even though Norton says allow for iTunes, my was still blocked as well. It's running fine now though since I've cleared out the programs list and rules tab and started over. Norton sets a no TCP rule I couldn't figure out so I cleared them all out.
I disabled only the personal firewall in Norton Internet Security and it connected straight away. When I found out this worked, I tried just allowing the four apple programs the personal firewall monitors and no joy. I will find which program is being blocked, but disabling the entire personal fire wall will work.
BTW, in my case I was getting the connection timed out but the iTunes diagnostics said the connection was fine but never connected to the store successfully
Some how Norton Internet Security set itself to block outbound TCP connections during the upgrade, even though iTunes was still set to allow all connections in and out. I couldn't figure out which rule to change. To get the firewall running again, I had to use the reset botton (in Norton Internet Security) to clear out all the rules and programs and then manually add iTunes with allow all privileges to the program list. CAUTION: until Norton repopulates privileges for other programs, you may need to add them manually.....this includes Internet Explorer or any other browser you may use. -
ITunes can not connect to the store in Windows 8.1
Since i have upgraded to windows 8.1 itnues on acer keeps giving the message that it can not connect to itune store...it is not reading my ipod touch 4th gen or my ipad 3
Hey zoyashahab,
Ok, so it sounds like there are two issues here we want to address, the first being the iTunes Store connection issue and the second being iTunes not recognizing your iOS devices.
First, I'd start with troubleshooting the recognition by following the steps in here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If after getting that running again, you still can't connect to the iTunes Store, then I'd go through the troubleshooting steps in here:

I don't know what's going on with my ipod it keeps saying can't connect to store when I try to download updates but I can still buy apps from the store???
Make sure your system time & date is set properly. If it is not, then move it backwards 2 months, then try to connect to the store. Good chance it will work then.
Change it back after again. -

Everytime I try to access the store I'm asked if I want to download iTunes 10 which I don't because it wont run on my OS and I can't decline the offer so I can't get into the store
iTunes has never supported XP64 bit.
However iTunes itself is a 32 bit program that will run on XP64 if you can get it installed. however this requires some hacking. Here are some links, you may be able to find others.

I have latest iTunes installed but can't connect to the Store
I have tried v10.4 & v10.5, have disabled the firewall, added trusted domains & required ports.
Deleted the hosts file & lots of other things
I enter my apple ID & get the message that this ID has not been used in the store before & must be reviewd.
When I do this I get Welcome to the iTunes Store. blah , blah
To begin creating your Apple ID, click Continue.
When I click on continue, the yellow box at top says Accessing iTunes Store then when it stops - Nothing happens!!!
If I run diagnostics it tells me I passed all tests OK.
OS is Vista64
Any ideasThis has been a bit of a problem for a while, one reason, it cannot talk to the apple servers.
Some firewall, mainly Bullguard, zonealarm, avg and a few others are blocking traffic to the site even if disabled, these need to be uninstalled.
If uninstalling doesnt work then you need to run this command as an administrator from the CMD prompt.
netsh winsock reset
This should resolve the issue your having.
Finally its known that some spyware and trojan scanners along with PCTOOLS causes problems and these need to be uninstalled aswell if you have them on your pc.
Hope this helps. -

2 Disconnect "Sharing iCloud"
3 Disconnect "Overview photo"
4 Went to the "photo" and the band appeared in imports. Wait until the end and it worked!

Installed 8.1.1 and still can't connect to the iTunes store
So for about 3 weeks I've been unable to connect to the iTunes store. I've allowed iTunes as an exception to my firewall; I've even tried turning the firewall off. I just installed 8.1.1 and I still can't connect to the store--what is going on? Any advice or anything?
Ah! I got it! I tried turning off the Symantec and that wasn't it (but thanks for the suggestion), but after poking around on the forum, someone said to try this:
try going to control panel > internet options > Connections > LAN settings
Then uncheck "automatically use a proxy server"
And voila, iTunes works! Thank you so much for all your help though; it's nice to know that someone is trying to help. -
Ipod stuck in recovery mode and won't restore. says it can't connect to the network.
My son tried to jailbreak his ipod touch like an idiot and of course it did not work. Now his ipod is stuck in recovery mode and I can't get it to restore. I get a message that says:the ipod software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later. I have internet access and everything is working but itunes can't connect to it. Why? I have been having issues with itunes for a couple weeks now. I can't connect to the store and redeem itunes cards either.
Make sure the setting for your security software allow iTunes to contact Apple servers:
iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues
As for the iPod, since he tried to modify the software, the only thing that could help would be DFU mode , we can't help much more, problems with jailbroken devices can't be discussed in theses forums, due to the Terms of Use.
Your son has to ask those people for help, which encouraged him to jailbreak his device. -
After the last update my iTunes won't connect to the store
I'm not sure what happened but after my iTunes updated to version 10.5 I can't connect to the store. I called in once and the person had me uninstall itunes and a few other things and then reinstall and it worked for a day and then iTunes updated again for some reason and once again I can't connect to the store. Any suggestions?
Hey, I had the same problem with the itunes not connecting to the store thing, I recommend checking your firewall and stuff make sure itunes (or safari) is not blocked, if everything is ok with that (apple apps not blocked), Uninstall Itunes, safari, quicktime icloud and whatever apple app you have on your computer. and get an earlier version.... the problem in some cases? Apple Application Support on itunes 10/quicktime 7 and later, a flaw that apple has to work on I recommend downloading a earlier version of itunes

I managed to sort it by checking firewall on my internet explorer and this didn't help but if you have norton security then you have to change the firewall settings on that to permit itunes.
