Can't connect to Wi-Fi, can't open Safari or view emails

First off I cannot connect to any Wi-Fi and I have connected to Wi-Fi many times from the same locations.  Secondly when I try to open Safari, I first get a blank page (like the one you would either type in an address or search), then my bookmarks flash for a second and then it goes back to the home screen with all the apps.  I can open the email inbox and they emails update, but when I try to view a specific email, it starts to open for a second and then returns me to the home screen.  I can make and receive phone calls.  I can use the map app to get directions using 3G.  I can get on Facebook and Twitter with 3G.  I seemingly can play games with friends.  Any ideas?

Make the most simply thing. Restore the phone via itunes.

Giuseppe Pignataro

After installed win7 on my mac pro(mid 2012/mountain lion), I can not connect internet and where can i find drivers in mountain lion system.
I donot think I have a install disk when I bought my mac, there is only a disc partition for recovery system.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You have to install Boot Camp drivers. On Mountain Lion, you have to download them.
First, press X key while your Mac is starting to start into OS X. Then, open Boot Camp Assistant and select the option to download the drivers. You will have to burn them into a DVD or USB drive, so after downloading them, restart and install them into Windows

It wont fix your problem, but help us both, in troubleshooting, and reducing frivolous suggestions.
If your report says high Realloc or Pending Sector, then it's time to have your hardisk replaced.

  • IPhone can't connect to my wifi, can connect to others. My other devices are fine. Basic T-shooting steps fail.

Sorry for the repeat post but I want to get more help with this.
Prior to problem: All devices surfing wirelessly on Airport Express.
Replaced Airport Express with Time Capsule.
Problem: Wife's iPhone4 (5.1.1) can not surf on wifi provided by my time capsule. All my other devices (iMac, Mac Air, iPad and my iPhone) can. Wife's iPhone can surf on an unsecure network somewhere nearby in my apartment complex. (Which to me, rules out a hardware problem).
Steps taken: Tapped iPhone wifi On/Off multiple times with no change. "Forget this network" multiple times with no change. Reset iPhone Network Settings multiple times with no change. Restored iPhone using iTunes as New iPhone once with no change. (Since doing that, I have restored with back up of iPhone settings and data.) Powered Time Capsule on/off several times with no change. Turned wireless security off with no change. Security is back on. It is WPA 2 Personal with a lengthy password. I'm not getting the "incorrect password" msg. Renewed lease multiple times with no change.
Other indications: 3G is in upper left. Status wheel is spinning next to my network's name. On the initial "Settings" window, my network name is shown (as if it were connected. But tapping it and going to the "wifi networks" window shows the list of available networks with the status wheel spinning next to mine.) Tapping the blue arrow on my network name leads to the window that has "forget this network" at the top, and a list of blank fields: IP address, subnet mask, router and so on. DHCP is chosen, HTTP proxy is OFF. Sometimes, the top two fields (ip address and subnet mask) have values filled in, but the rest of the fields don't.
On my Time Capsule, as seen via Airport Utility (V5.5.3), 3 devices are shown as connected. Clicking this provides a listing. My wife's iPhone wi-fi address is listed. It's "rate" however is 1. My imac is 216 and my iphone is 65. BTW, iOS devices drop off the list when they go to sleep. No big deal there.
Back to Airport Utility, in the summary tab... status is normal, version is 7.6.1, wireless mode is "create a wireless network", security is "wpa/wpa2 personal", channel is 149 auto and 1 auto (I tried changing 1 to 11 with no change), connect using "ethernet" and finally my IP address begings with 76. 76.xxx.xxx.xxx
Moving to the "Wireless" tab of Airport utility... wireless mode is "create a wireless network", radio mode is auto, radio ch. selection is auto, wireless security is wpa/wpa2 personal, "remember password in keychain" is checked.   Now Clicking on the "wireless network options" button..... 5ghz is not checked, country is USA, multicast rate is "low", t-mit power is "100%", WPA group key timeout is 1 day (it used to be 1 hour but this has made no change in the problem), "use wide channels" is not checked, "create a closed network" is not checked.
MAC access control is not enabled. But it was enabled previously and I added my devices by their Wi-Fi addresses one at a time until i decided to turn it off due to this problem. this resulted in no change with the problem.
Personally, I feel the prob lies with the DHCP and ip address and related fields, but I don't know enough about what their values should be in relation to my other devices to alter them on my own.

I pasted below a response that helped.... sort of. I followed the directions below. At the end, all my devices were connected to my network. BUT, the last device I connected, my MacAir, did not stay connected for long. It now has the exclamation point in the middle of the wi-fi icon in the top right of the screen.
This event agrees with my original problem: It was my wife's iPhone that was the last to be connected to my network and the only one to fail to connect.
Is there a limit to how many devices can be connected to my time capsule? I have 5 devices. What is "extending?" Do I need to do that?

This solved my questionRe: Airport Express wifi network not working
    Mar 1, 2012 1:46 PM (in response to Don_McCracken)
Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Click the Internet icon, then click the Internet Connection tab
Make sure that the setting for Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
    Update to save any changes
Then power down the entire network...all devices....power down order is not important
    Wait a few minutes
Power up the modem/router first and let it run a full minute by itself
Power up the Express the same way
Continue powering up devices one at a time the same way until everything is powered back up
You should be able to connect through the Express and on to the Internet

  • Macbook can't connect via L2TP but can via PPTP. iPhone can connect to both

So I've been banging my head up against the wall for the better part of this morning trying to figure this out. Just as a note, I'm 3000 miles from my house and server, but I do have access to it for the time being via PPTP.
Before I left, I verified that I could connect with L2TP on my iphone's 3G network. I was also able to connect at the airport on my Macbook using L2TP. Sometime overnight something changed, and I can't figure out what. I noticed that my phone dropped it's VPN connection saying something like "the connection to the server dropped unexpectedly" or such. After that, I was unable to connect over L2TP on my macbook or iphone. On a whim I tried connecting over PPTP which worked! But only on my macbook. Again on a whim I tried to connect via L2TP on my iphone, and it worked?! I rinsed, lathered and repeated that process over and over again and confirmed that I could only connect over L2TP on my iPhone after connecting on my macbook over PPTP. Also, on my iphone, if I stored the password it wouldn't authenticate (probably not related).
As of this moment I am connected using L2TP on my iphone for the last hour, using it to successfully stream Pandora across US borders, but can't sustain a PPTP connection on my macbook for longer than 10 mins. And I still can't connect over L2TP. So that said here are the client and server logs (ips, domains and usernames masked....) Server and clients are in different timezones:

I'm having similar issues but not much luck getting any answers. I made a similar post here - maybe something in there will help you.
One thing I have been able to pinpoint is that the MobileMe Back To My Mac service was causing quite a few issues with being able to connect to the VPN. Once I turn off the service, connection seems to work fine. Although, once I'm connected, I cannot access file sharing. Still waiting for some answers on that.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • VPN--Can't connect with airport extreme (can with lynksys)

I have an airport WDS at home. My employer has set me up with a VPN. I can't connect via my airport but if I walk over to my neighbor's house, I can (he has a lynksys router). I've been working with my IT rep, looking at ports, firewalls, etc. We've added 4 different port addresses to the port mapping tab on my airport base station, still nothing. Does anyone have thoughts or answers?

never did find an answer. ended up purchasing a lynksys router and had no problems.

  • HP6700 can't connect to IP address - can't connect to server

I recently changed print cartridges in my printer and now my printer cannot be found by the network. It previously worked and had no problem with wireless printing
I am on a private network at home.
I have tried changing the IP address on the printer itself - setting it to static. I have printed the Wireless Network Test Results which say that everything passes and I'm connected however the computer can't find the printer and I can't get updates (unable to connect, the printer could not connect to the server).
    IP address: 192.168.1.116
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Also, I am unable to connect to the EWS when I type in the IP address on my web browser. It says it cannot connect to the IP address.
    I have a MacBook Pro.
    PLEASE HELP!

    Hi nikchic2,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you seem to have lost the wireless connection to your Officejet 6700.
Let’s start by resetting the printer’s network settings.  This can be easily done from the front panel of the printer.  If you are unsure how to do this, the steps can be found in your User Guide on page 128 in the section titled “To reset the printer's network settings”.  The blue wireless light on your printer should now be blinking.
Now we are going to put the printer onto your wireless network.  This also can be easily done from the front panel of the printer.  The instructions on how to do this can also be found in your User Guide on page 196, in the section titled “Set up the printer using the Wireless Setup Wizard”. The blue wireless light should now be steady indicating the printer is connected to the wireless network.
To confirm that the printer is on your wireless network, please Print a Network Configuration Page. At the top of the report in the “General information” section it should give you the IP address for the printer.  It would be titled ‘URL(s) for Embedded Web Server’. Please try to connect to the printer’s embedded web server using the IP address listed on the report.
Now that we have successfully put the printer back on the network and are able to connect to the printer’s embedded web server let’s get that manual IP address set.  Please follow the steps from another post I have that has the instructions with screen shots.  Don’t worry that the screen shots are for an Officejet 8600, the steps are the same.

  • How many computers can you connect, how many computers can you connect

Hi Folks I have just purchase Apple TV and was wondering if you can connect more than one computer/iTunes libarary to Apple TV. My reasoning for asking is we have a few Itunes accounts in our home so thought there was potential for others to connect their Powerbooks to the TV or is it restricted to me only.
I look forward to your responses.
    Jim

  • Can't connect using ethernet but can connect using Airport

The problem I am currently facing is when I try to plug an ethernet cable into my MacBook Pro I can't get on the internet. At home I use an AEBS and connect fien, but when I go over to a friends house and they don't have wireless I try to hook up using the ethernet cable directly from the modem to connect and I can't.
I open System Pref and it says on the left side under ethernet "Self Assigned IP" On the right hand side it says ethernet is connected and underneath that it says, "ethernet has self assigned IP address and may not be able to connect."
I though this was a problem at his house and when I went home I tried it and I get the same thing. I used to have a Powerbook using Tiger and it did the same thing. Once I turn my Aiprort back on and plug the ethernet cable back into my AEBS I get on line.
Am I doing something wrong? I figured if I just plug in an ethernet cable it should detect it and work.
    Thanks

I am not sure if this is your problem, but I believe a lot of cable modems need to be power cycled if you switch the device that is connected to them. They only recognize the MAC address of the first device that connects to them after they have been power cycled.
Although this was a couple of years ago, I was trying to investigate something (I can't remember what now) and I unplugged my router from my cable modem and plugged one of my computers directly to it. I found I couldn't do anything on the Internet. Later, when I was looking at the Comcast forums, I found the information about needing to power cycle the modem to get it to accept the "new" device.
