Can't create loops in Logic 8. This *****.

What is wrong with apple loops utility. I load an audio file in it and when I press save, it then says that "the file could not be saved. check the destination disk's available space and try again or choose a different location." It however shows where it was trying to save my file in another window, and of course it shows the correct place to be saved. I've tried using the save as function and choosing the destination that way and it doesn't work. I've tried renaming it and it doesn't work. I've tried adding the file to the apple loops utility by pushing the plus button and then going through all those processes and still nothing. i have gotten some work by trying the above processes at least a thousand times. Then when it works, it does not even show up automatically in Bin section like it did in Logic 7. If you click the browser tab to search for it in your projects audio folder, you might miss it because it looks like all the other audio files. The only that I was able to tell was that my audio files are aif and the apple loops are aiff. If I were to go to my desktop and open my audio files
in my project that way, then I can see that apple loop file look like the apple loops logo. Anyway, I can't get this audio file to covert to an aplle loop because i can't save it. please help me.

I dont get why you want them to be apple loops so badly... what wrong with leaving the loops as wav's aif (or aiff), etc.. im just trying to figure out what you can do with an apple loop that you cant do with the regular audio file? cuz i find that you can not time stretch apple loops... which means i would have to use them at their own tempo which is rediculous to me.. could someone perhaps open my eyes to the benefits of apple loops that i have yet to discover??

I am having the same issue now that I have switched over from using a G4 with Logic 7 running Tiger to a G5 with Logic 7 running Leopard. Can it be an issue with Leopard? It was working fine with Tiger...
Anyway, it seems that the only work around (sort of) for this is too save the loop to your loop library and then take it from there and put back into your session. Once back in run the ALU like normal and save. It seems to work but I have noticed that once its changed into an apple loop that the loop will clip on the track!?! So I don't know how good of a solution this really is.

Apple loop index is empty folder!!! Can not find loop in logic browser because they just no longer exist on my hard drive, what would be the new appropriate step to take?

Apple loop index folder is empty from the hard drive, which may explain why i can not find loop in my logic pro browser, just sort of grey in disaabled format. what would be the next appropriate steps to take??? I do have an external back up disk.

The IDE interface that the iBook and your desktop use are the same, just a different plug size. So with the rite adapter you could put the iBooks drive in your desktop, you could even boot off it too.
If you want to install the laptops HD in your desktop this will do it for you. Or you can use the iBooks HD as an external hard drive with this

Can I create a linked server to this ODBC datasource (odbc driver by Progress OpenEdge) on Sql Server 2000 ?

I installed the Progress OpenEdge ODBC driver for 32 bit database on my win7 workstation -- I used odbcad32.exe located at C:\Windows\SysWOW64 to configure the driver for 32 bit applications -- per the screen Shots here and I am able to connect to the datasource
from Excel Query.
I am able to connect to this ODBC datasource from Excel Query and see all the tables -- as in the screen shot. I can also access this datasource from a C# app.
Question: if I can connect to this ODBC datasource from Excel -- does this mean I should be able to create a linked server to it? I tried the following from SSMS Linked Serber Wizard on a Sql Server 2000 (I have used the Linked server wizard
successfully in the past as well as linking with Tsql SPs). This will at least create a mock Linked server on the Sql server 2000 (this does not work on sql server 2008 -- I tried), but when I try to view the catalogs -- I get the error in the screen
shot below. If the answer to my question is "YES" yes I should be able to create a linked server to this ODBC datasource what is the way to do this? I added the UserID and Password in the Security tab, but I did not see where to add the
port (4000). What do I enter for the Product Name? Can it be arbitrary or does it have to be something specific?

Yes, you should be able to set up this as a linked server - from a 32-bit instance of SQL Server. That is, you can't use a 32-bit driver on 64-bit SQL Server. Now, since you have SQL 2000, I assume that this is a 32-bit instance. (But there was a 64-bit
version for Itanium of SQL 2000.)
For the Provider string, I would guess that you should enter something like
Driver={Progress 11.3 OpenEdge Driver}
just like you do in your application code.
Basically, in the provider string, you specify your connection string, except that you take out the provider name, which is a separate parameter to sp_addlinkedserver. Since I know nothing about Progress, I can't give any specific details.
The error message you get is somewhat puzzling, since this refers to SQLOLEDB which is the provider to access an SQL Server instance.

Over the last few days I've wasted many hours trying unsuccessfully to create a new user account so I can post to Apple Discussions. Kept going round an endless loop, back to the 'Create New User Account' form. Tried every possible solution I found through internet searches, to no avail.
The answer, for me, turned out to be simply choosing a different alias - one that nobody else was using, presumably.
Why, oh why, isn't there an error message that tells you this? It would have saved me so much time and frustration - and many other people too, I'm sure.

package is basicly a group of procedures, functions, type definitions, etc... if you put this procedure into a package you can do this:
a package has two parts, spec and body, spec is interface for outside and body is source code.

Users w/least privileges in Acrobat Standard can't create PDF files. Could this be security setting?

Trying to find out where Acrobat stores its temp files while creating/printing a new PDF and if it is possible to tell the program to use another location. My guess, and I could definitely be wrong, is that our Sys Admins have locked users from writing into this temp folder. Additionally security audit logs are filled quickly when users attempt to cut and paste from Acrobat. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, you should ask your sys admin to not lock this folder. This
can cause a lot of problems with many applications.
The temp folder used by Acrobat is actually not the Windows temp folder,
though, but an internal one, which can be found by executing this code in
the JS console in Acrobat:
app.getPath("user", "temp")
In my case (Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 7), it is:
/C/Users//AppData/Local/Temp/Adobe/Acrobat/11.0
It is possible, though, that applications like Distiller still use the
Windows temp folder for some other tasks.

Can't create loop device for dm-crypt

I'm trying to set up a disk image to use dm-crypt with, and after using dd from /dev/urandom to create an appropriately sized random file, I modprobed the loop module and ran:
losetup /dev/loop0 /home/user/image
as specified on the Arch Linux wiki page for dm-crypt and got the error: "losetup: /dev/loop0: failed to set up loop device: No such file or directory".
I tried using the -f switch to create one, I got the error "losetup: cannot find an unused loop device: No such file or directory".
How do I get this to work? I also tried running these with sudo in case it was a permissions error, and that didn't help.

Yeah, it worked after a reboot. Thing was, modprobe loop had been done pre-kernel install, so I was a tad confused since the error didn't mention anything about a module needing loading or such. Either way, I ended up switching in the end to using veracrypt, it had better performance on my system and didn't take up an obscene amount of memory when mounting the image.

Can I create my own logical unit of work (LUW)?

This is an off-shoot to a Why does the NOCOMMIT parameter not work in HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION? yesterday in this forum.
It appears that the FM I'm calling is going to do a commit, no matter what. The only thing I can tell is that the NOCOMMIT parameter is used to do a rollback only in the event of a problem.
What I'd like to do is somehow "encapsulate" my call to this function with my own "LUW" designation so that, depending on what a user selects in a selection screen (run as test only? checkbox) I can rollback changes on my own. Unfortunately, I don't know if this is even possible and, if so, how to do it. I need to do something because the end users running this function would like to be able to do a "test run" of all the address transactions to see if there's any errors, data that still needs cleaned up, etc.
Any ideas? Points awarded for all helpful answers, as always.

You can try using lightbox widget. Try playing with opacity in normal and rollover states of thumbnails.
Else, you can add another image on rollover state of thumbnail which may be a little darker than the original one.

Logic for this senerio -- UDF

Hi XI Gurus,
I hav to create a UDF.This is an IDOC - XI - FILE seerio. In this senerio is I have an IDOc whose 7th segment contains a field. This field can store values in between 0 - 9. On the other hand I have a file structure in my left hand side from Messge mapping prespective , which contains 9 similar sized fields.
Now the logic is if the field in the segment of the idoc has value say '3', then the file structure in the left hand side would have 3 in the field no 3 and all other fields 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 would be zero.
Can u guys suggest some logic for this???

Can't Create USB Recovery Drive after Win 8.1 upgrade on Lenovo Twist

After upgrading to Win 8.1 and trying to create the usb recovery drive, I get this error:
"We can't create a reccovery drive on this PC. Some required files are missing.To trouble shoot problems when your PC starts,use your window installation disk or media"
Can some give me a hint as to how to solve this?Thx.

I contacted Lenovo who sent me out a set of 4 Recovery disks. These disks fixed the problem but it meant wiping out the hard drive and reinstalling very thing from scratch. A new recovery partition is created and the discs reinstalled Win 8 which had to be updated. Then Win 8.1 could be installed. Everything is now working as it should.

Didn't have much luck in MS forums, maybe somebody here knows?
Whenever I try to create a recovery drive I find that "We can't create a recovery drive on this PC. Some required files are missing. To troubleshoot problems when your PC can't start, use your Windows installation disc or media."
Uh?
Is a fresh Windows 8 x64 (RTM) installation. Only thing that I can think of is it has UEFI and Secure Boot enabled.

What version of Windows 8 are you using? It appears you may need to the Window 8 disc to be able to create the recovery drive because it needs files that are not on your system. I found those part numbers for the Windows 8 recovery media for you.

04T7223 - Win 8 Pro 64 Bit US
Additional part numbers can be found here for all system parts and recovery media for you the Twist (s230u). If you contact service back they should be able to get the media sent to you. Good Luck.

How can I define an XML schema for this kind of XML

I want to generate an XML file like:

which have multiple customer elements and multiple transactions as well, and they can happen in mixed sequence. Can any one give me some idea about how can I create an XML schema for this kind of xml? (<xsd:complextype> <xsd:sequence> ) seems not work)
