Can't create new project or open a project - hangs & crashes every time

I installed PRE8 last night. I can launch the app and get the welcome screen. When I click Create New Project, it initializes the application and opens the window/shell for the PRE8 app with the menu bar at the top, but never actually opens the new project. I can open the menus in the menu bar, but most of the options are grayed out. If I try to start a New Project from the File menu, nothing happens. When I close the application, I get the crash report dialog (crash data below). I am not using NVIDIA video card/drivers (ATI Radeon 1150). Machine is a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop, AMD Athlon X2 running Vista home premium. I have done 2 full uninstalls and reinstalls of PRE8 and installed the update to 8.0.1, but I keep getting the same problem. I can never actually open a project, which makes this software pretty darn useless. Any suggestions?

Some basics:
Install all Windows Updates.
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.7 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
Run Disk Cleanup.
Run Defragmenter.
Temporarily disable any anti-virus real time scanning.
Use the GSpot Codec Information Utility to analyse the file and post screen image.

Can't create new projects in RoboHelp HTML 7

When I try to create a new projects in RoboHelp HTML 7, the
Projects Type field is blank on the New tab of hte New Project
dialog box. I just bought this product after using the trial
version for 30 days. I can open the projects I created before but
can't create new projects. Help! I need it now!

OK, this problem is solved -- the problem was RoboSource
Control 3.1. I realized that I had installed RoboSource Control 3.1
during my Trial install (the option to install it is checked by
default). By re-running the Trial download (thank God I saved it) I
was able to uninstall RoboSource Control 3.1. (I could not
uninstall it using the Tech Comm Suite installer or the Add/Remove
function in the Windows Control Panel)
Then I ran the Tech Comm Suite install and reinstalled
RoboHelp 7 (without installing RoboSource Control 3.1).
Now RoboHelp 7 HTML works again. Note that only the HTML
version was screwed up -- the Word version ran OK, I just don't
need it.
Finally, I just want to say, Adobe Tech Support *SUCKS*.
After spending a half hour on my initial call on Sept. 26th, "Ken"
directed me to the Adobe Support web page and told me to enter my
problem myself -- thanks for nothing, Ken. He promised a 24 hour
turn around, which did not happen.
When I called back on Sept. 29th, I wasted another hour with
Natasha and Sam, who had me run CSClean, which wiped out my
registry entries for Acrobat and Photoshop, forcing a reinstall of
those products. Of course, that did not help me at all.
Adobe, please stop outsourcing your Tech Support to India --
those guys know nothing!
The replies to this issue on the "Customer Support Portal"
have been slow, indifferent and unhelpful. Shame on them!
I'm posting this fix to this problem on this Forum, so the
next poor slob may be able to fix their problem themselves as I
did, 'cause Tech Support sure won't help!

In garageband I can't create new projects

In garageband I can't create new projects it says file couldn't be opened. Checking on web searches some indicate to check under Library... I do not have a Library directory on my system. Garageband came with the Mac. Any clues how to get it to work?

It's been a while since I last used photoshop, a similar kind of problem made me move away from the product, but the new features in CS6 are enticing enough for me to be interested in trying it again.
My problem is that, while the interface is completely usable (I can open the color picker, play with tools and preselects) trying to open a file or creating a new one does absolutely nothing.
File->New or CTRL+N will show the busy cursor for but a brief second, and then disappear, dragging a file to the interface shows me the "denied" cursor (black circle with a bar), File->Open lets me browse my disk but then when I select the image, nothing happens.
I've been scouring the forums for a solution to this and tried so many things that it's impossible for me to even try and list them all, so I'll accept any suggestion and try anything, I'll sum up what I did try in the first post (if it stays editable).
Please let me succeed in this, I'd love to go back to photoshop.

How can I test the other display theory? I didn't connect any new monitor (I do use 2) but I occasionally use stuff like remote desktop tools.
I'll try and update the display drivers (even tho I updated them recently).
P.S.: opening it on the other monitor worked. What the heck. Any way I can make it work on both monitors?
I'll be making more tests in the meanwhile.

When opening a file Finder crashes (every time!)

MY SPECS:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011)
2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
and I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C1514)
THE PROBLEM
So the recurring problem is, when I try to open a file in finder, finder just crashes, and relaunches.
However I can open applications in spotlight but whenever i try to open anything in finder it just crashes (except when I open an application).
I noticed this had began yesterday after downloading a few songs from chrome, but wouldn't open in finder and it just crashed/relaunched.
So what I have done is restarted my laptop twice, gone in Disk Utilities performed some repairs and it did nothing.

Finder crashes are often caused by "Google Drive." If it's installed, I suggest you first check for an update. If that doesn't solve the problem, remove it according to the developer's instructions. You may need to start the computer in safe mode to do so. Back up all data before making any changes.
If you use Google Drive and don't want to remove it, then try deselecting the option in its preferences to "show status icons." According to reports, that may be enough to stop the crashing.
Similar cloud-data clients such as "Dolly Drive," "iDrive," "Open Drive," "Transporter Desktop," and others can cause the same problem.

Why is my new imac i7 (os 10.6.4)crash every time I am in CS5 using filter tool-lens correction?

In the middle of using lens correction tool or noise reduction filter, my new imac crashs, I have lightroom sometimes on, and Firefox brawser with music streming, any ideas why?

Maybe updating might help as you seem to be behind with the OS and don’t even mention Photoshop’s exact version.

With Firefox 11, when I save a file (image, etc.) then go to the Downloads manager and try to "Open Containing Folder", Firefox crashes every time for every file type.

May be it is something to do with whatever your security software is. Try disabling security scanning of downloads, or tuning off the security software entirely. Remember to turn it on afterwards and use something safe as a download. Try for instance saving the avatar adjacent to these posts.

Can't create new partition

Hello.
I have a problem. I want to install WinXP via BootCamp and can't create new partition for it.
BootCamp Assistant crashes during partitioning (kernel panic), and when I use Leopard installation disk and try to create new partition in Disk Utility on DVD, it returns an error "No space left on device".
I repaired my hard disk many times (all errors were repaired) and still no improvement.
I don't want to format my disk to zero, because I don't use Time Machine and it would be really difficult to restore all the data.

Use Disk Utility Restore to copy your internal drive to an external USB/FW drive. Then reformat.

Adobe Encore crashes after creating New Project

So something weird and unexpected happened so I'm telling the whole thing. I uninstalled Premiere Pro CC and installed Premiere Pro CS6 and the uninstalled it but unchecked Encore so that I can use Encore. I never used it before. So when I open Encore and create a New Project, it immediately crashes every time! Did anybody else encounter this problem? Please help!

I am not expert on installation issues with subscriptions. But my rule of thumb is still to uninstall, run the cleaner (same tool for CC and CS6) and reinstall.
Given the symptoms, I would treat it as an install/activation issue.

IDVD Freezes when creating new project!?

Hi all,
When I open iDVD, it give me the main screen, I click Create New Project. The window comes up, but it has trouble opening the stuff inside the window, and does the dreaded rainbow ball.. Never comes out of it. I have to force quit it to get out.

Quit iDVD.
Locate a file named com.apple.iDVD.plist and get rid of it. iDVD will create a new one the next time it runs. Empty the trash and run a permission repair using the Disk Utility.

i think you need to check the following :
make sure that your page extends AbstractPageBean in the class definition Page.java
you must be importing com.sun.rave.web.ui.appbase.AbstractPageBean.
if so make sure that required libraries references are added .and if not add them your self
( check under libraries node for the library : JSF Design-Time Support- appbase.jar )
this problem can be generated if you were trying to open a project created under creator 2 EA because there has been change in the packaging in the new release.

Movie disappeared after crash, now can't create New Event

Online, found suggestion to delete CurrentVersion.imovieevent and other CurrentVersion. files, which I did. I also moved the project files (inside Movies->iMovie Library (show package contents) to a safe distance. The online suggestion-- which had worked for me before-- recommended this, then: open iMovie, create New Project, quit. Move all the imovie project files into the new iMovie Library folder with the new project name, then re-open iMovie. Project should be there. And it was, last time. But for some reason, now iMovie won't let me create a New Event or a New Project, so this doesn't work.
What is interesting is I completely removed all projects/events from the Movie folder to a different drive, but when I now open iMovie, all of my old movies/projects show up except the one I'm looking for. Where is it finding them? It should open up as new. How do I fix this?
So far, have deleted and re-downloaded and re-installed iMovie 10.0.4 on MacBook Air running OS X 10.9.4 and removed all files from the Movie folder. Opening iMovie shows all my projects for the last several years. I have not deleted anything (only moved items), but the trash has all the CurrentVersion. files still in them. Interestingly, there are no "iMovie Projects" or "iMovie Events" folders anywhere-- all the folders/files seem to be stored in the iMovie Library; to access them I have to Show Package Contents

Can you right-click on a folder name in the Lightroom Folder Panel and select "Show Parent Folder"?
Can you import new photos directly to the desired folder in the desired location?

Does this error occur if you use any of the example programs that come shipped with LabVIEW? I would try opening one of the examples that write data to Word and see if those give you an error. Also, have you tried just putting down a New Report.VI and change the report type to Word? If this simple vi (that's all you need to open Word) breaks, I would check to see if there are any instances of Word still open. Check the task manager to see if any word processes are still open. There should not be a problem accessing Word 2003 from LabVIEW 7.0. If neither of these solutions work, please give some more detail about your application and we can research further. Thanks!
