Can`t drag and drop images into PSE5

hi,
i`m from germany, so sorry for my english..
i use pse5 since a few years and a few month with windows7..today i had to reinstall it and now i can`t drag and drop images from explorer or acdsee to PSE workspace. i get no error-message , only this circle with a diagonal line..
i CAN drag and drop images from the editor..
- i reinstalled it and repaired it
- tried diffferent compatability modes
- i don`t run the program as a administrator ( tried it- it was the same)
so can anyone please help me?

Try making a direct shortcut to the Organizer and then the Editor.
You should then be able to drag and drop on to the desktop icon.
On Windows right click on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Organizer application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
Inside the Adobe >> Photoshop Elements Organizer (yellow folder) you are looking for an application file “PhotoshopEementsOrganizer” with six small icons (e.g. representing thumbnails - could be different in PSE5 but look for the exe file)
Select it and click OK
Click next
Rename by taking out Photoshop Elements leaving just the word Organizer
Then click finish
You should now be able to launch directly form the desktop by double clicking on the icon.
You can set up a similar direct link to the Editor application.

I recently installed iTunes 4.3.5 and can't drag and drop music into my 'music library' anymore. Every time I try to drag the music from a folder into the library, that little circle with the line thru it comes up (not allowed symbol). I've been using iTunes for years and am pretty computer savvy... I have no idea what the problem is. The only way I can add music right now is if I go to File>Add File to Library and that takes way too long, especially when adding 20-30 songs. I am using Windows 7 and I have an iPhone 4. Please help! This is extremely frustrating.

What did you actually install? iOS 4.3.5 on your iPhone? If so, this has NO affect on the ability to manually manage media via iTunes.

Drag and drop images into anchored frames -- can this be done with the images imported by reference?

My company bought a product from another company and the only manuals files that came with it were in pdf format. I am currently grabbing text out in Acrobat, then pasting and reformatting it in FrameMaker. Boring and tedious. . . .
Eventually I get to the point of importing the illustrations. There are *hundreds* of them. As a rule, we import the files by reference, to keep the chapter size smaller and to be able to double click the image to open it for modification.
However, I can drag an image file from the folder window and drop it into an anchored frame. Oooh, this is fast--way faster than all the mousework that goes into clicking file>import>file>[choosing the file then hitting the import button].
But, dang it, that copies the image into the FrameMaker file. No double-click opening. Giant fm. file size. Mad boss, shaking an SOP standards sheet in my face.
So, my question: Is there a way to import an image *by reference* by dragging and dropping them into an anchored frame?

I tried the RTF route and, in addition to getting the body text I wanted, got paragraph after paragraph of the page numbers, the illustration text, the header and footer verbiage, all randomly placed between body text paragraphs.
I did the same file twice, once by saving as RTF and deleting unwanted stuff, then repairing body paragraphs (each line of which is a seperate paragraph in the RTF file) and also by sweeping only the necessary text, then copying and pasting it page by page. The second method was a bit faster and less frustrating. Not to say that it isn't slow and frustrating in itself, but just a bit less. Less errors, too, with the second method.
Bummer about importing by reference. I don't suppose there's a way to set up recorded actions with hotkeys, is there? Like in Illustrator?

Can't drag and drop actions into a set

I'm using CS4 and haven't had this problem before. After loading various actions, I am unable to drag and drop them into one of my sets. The actions either drop above or below the set.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I can't think of any reason for this behaviour.
Maybe it's time to try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.

You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults. (A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.)

Can't drag and drop files into Attachments while in Administrator mode

I can drag and drop files into attachment easily when I'm not in Administrator mode. But I need to be in Administrator mode at work and therefore for some reason I cannot drag and drop files into attachments; I'm forced to manually search and select particular files for attaching, which significantly slows my day-to-day work.
Is it a bug?
I have the up-to-date version of Thunderbird and I use MS Windows 7 Ultimate.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". Can't drag and drop attachments into mail fullscreen

Have a weird issue. In lion I could drag and drog into a new mail message by dragging the attachment to the hot corner then to the fullscreen mail app then onto the new mail message.
Now for some reason in Mt. Lion it will no longer do this.
I can do it when mail is not in full screen mode or if I create a new mail message in another desktop.
Any suggestions?
And no I do not have air display on this computer (did do a search before posting)

When this happens can you drag and drop regular files and icons etc?
I did a clean install, setup several user accounts last night. Dragging and dropping was working in my main user account last night. This morning (computer on all night) I could not drag and drop anything in that particular user account including mail attachements. Other accounts worked fine. Thought it was a permissions issue but they were fine.
Ended up trashing the user account and resetting it up and everything back to normal.

Can't drag and drop files into Indesign.

My ability to dragon and drop files into InDesign has stopped. I also cannot copy and paste. I have tried dropping previously used jpg's and PDFs as well as copying text from Acrobat, Chrome and Word. I reset the prefrences with control option command shift, but still no luck - I can't drag and drop files. Also, I cannot move files with my mouse in the program.

Nobody can help you without system information. Could be anything from graphics driver issues to a defective mouse to a busted operating system...

Drag and drop Images into Multiple Targets

Hello,
I want to alter the NI example "Drag and Drop - Multiple Data Types to Start Drag" to use multiple image Targets. The current VI only allows for dropping image into a single Target. I want to duplicate the target window a few times, in order to drop different images into each different Target. I can't seem to figure out how the VI recognizes and differentiates the Targets.

Please see attached... That's a simple way to perform what you need : each target is handled in the same event case (the target is differentiated by using control refnum).

Can`t drag and drop foto into pages document, it bounces back

trying to drag and drop a foto from iphoteo to pages document, it doesn`t work properly and steady.
Eventually it bounces back. I repeated to do so few times, sometimes it works into an blank page or into a fotoframe, sometimes it doesn`t.
I checked camera type and other informations of the pictures,seems to be not part of the problem.
I can drag and drop fotos to the desktop without problems, all jpg.
I did drag and drop a few pictures succsesfully onto the same document or into the same fotoframe and suddenly, again it does not work.
Any help?

I can't drag and drop files into iTunes - any ideas?

As I often do, I went to drag four new files into a playlist in iTunes and suddenly they will not go in. I just get that circle with a diagonal line across indicating that this is not possible.
Lately iTunes has been giving me all sorts of problems such as not recognizing my iPhone or iTouch.
Has anyone else been having these sorts of problems??

JollyGeri, after I installed the 10.5.3 version a few days ago I began to have the same problem. The first time i used iTunes after the new install is when the problem of not being able toI manipulate my music by dragging and dropping began. My computer is a Mac and it appears you are using Windows Vista so the solution to my problem will likely be different than yours. I'll just mention that on a mac there is a program called disk utility and with that we mac users can have it repair permissions. After a second attempt yesterday to repair permissions I was able to move music by dragging and dropping as I previously could. However, when I opened itunes today and tried, the same problem was back. I've used the disk utility program to repair permissions again but so far the problem persists. I hope someone is able to help you with your situation. If there is a similar type of program on your windows pc, perhaps by repairing the disk permissions you may be able to get your problem solved. This is very frustrating and I believe there is something in the new version of iTunes that has caused this because I have not installed any other upgreades, etc. since downloading and installing the itunes upgrade. Can't drag and drop songs into a new playlist

I can't seem to drag and drop songs from my itunes library into a new playlist in order to burn a cd. Any suggestions? I've tried closing out and restarting but that didn't work. thanks!

You may have clicked one of the categories that reordered your sonds (ie Name or Artist). This make is override any drag and drop. To allow drag & drop within a playlist:
Look near the top at the Title of your playlist
Click on the far left hand column (probably has numbers in it). This organinzed songs by the numbers listed there instead of by Name or Artist or whatever....
Now you should be able to drag & drop.

I'm trying to implement a bit of "MS paint" magic for a customer's dialog. I want to be able to drag and drop into a 2d picture control. Ideally, I'd like to be able to move this around and resize it once it's there, but let's start with the first part - how to drag and drop from e.g. the desktop onto the 2d picture control. The rest is nice-to-have but unnecessary.
I've seen a clever example on here using a transparent path control, but that's not going to cut it here (I have other events linked with that picture box, e.g. right now I have a double-click event adding text to the image).
Thanks for any ideas... I've looked briefly into using the windows API (i.e. constructor nodes) but, there be dragons.

Well, it is possible and I got it working . Let me clean it up, close my references, etc and I will post it. You will have to use the .net control though so hopefully that is ok. You could manage it for the labVIEW picture control with a mix of .net or winAPI to handle the drag and drop and see if it's over your picture control and then somehow get the path of the drag and load the path into the LabVIEW picture control. But, you may just want to stick with it all using the .net control

Does anyone know why I can't seem to drag and drop a song into a playlist I have created........I can drop songs into the untitled playlist but none of the others. Please help! Thanks.

Have you checked to make sure that the Playlist you are trying to add to is a Regular Playlist...
and not a Smart Playlist...
or a Playlist Folder...
In addition to all of this, the original question was asked 18 months ago, before iTunes 11. So is your problem that you cannot work out how to create a new playlist? For example, at which point do you get stuck with this new Playlist, creating it, or adding to it?
