Can't drag image from browser into Artwork panel

Hey all,
This is on Snow Leopard, using the latest iTunes and Firefox versions.
When a file (or group of files) lacks artwork, I often use Google Images, find the appropriate image, drag the image to the desktop, then drag the image from the desktop into the mp3 file's "Artwork" panel when you have "Get Info" opened--and then delete the file on the desktop. There's too many steps.
Is there however some way to directly drag the image from Firefox directly into iTunes? And if not, is there some other easier way to add artwork?

Can't drag images from safari into songs as covers anymore

hey i got an issue, i guess it's because of itunes 9.02 because yesterday it worked just fine:
i an album doesn't have a cover art i usually go to google image search, find the cover and then drag it directly to the song.
for example i select all tracks from an album, hit cmd + i, then i drag the cover art from safari to itunes and drop it. until yesterday itunes perfectly took the cover art and applied to the track,
since i downloaded itunes 9.02 it doesn't work anymore.
btw, when i drag the image to some place in the finder and then drag it onto the song it still works.
can anyone confirm that?

Same problem. I thought it might have been a Safari security thing until I tried other browsers with the same problem. Like you said... Dragging from the browser to a staging location like the desktop first and then from the desktop to iTunes work just fine. Odd.
I'm looking around for some new iTunes security option. Minor bug but it's really messing with my workflow.

Thanks Steve. I should have mentioned that I’m still using CS6. Wonder if that’s the difference? All I get in the sidebar is Photo Booth which is useless.

Can't drag images from preview drawer?

Can anyone tell me why I can no longer drag an image from the Preview drawer to copy the file to a new location? It was a great way to quickly sort through images in Panther, but now all I get is the white 'not allowed' cursor.

Yeah, annoying isn't it? What I've been doing to sort things is to empty my Trash. Then I can drag images from the Preview thumbs into the Trash. It allows you to MOVE them from where they were into the Trash this way. After I've gotten all of one category moved out, I open Trash and drag them into a new folder. Then I sort thru the remaining pix using my next category, and so on. It's the only way I've found to use Preview even close to the handy way I used to use it in Panther to quickly sort photos. But I don't much like the dis-improvement. BTW, if I remember, I will sometimes launch the old version of Preview that resides on my Panther drive. It still works. You can see animated gifs with it too (another function missing in action in the new Preview).

Opening/Dragging Images from Desktop into Photoshop CS4

I'm trying to import/drag/open a png image file from finder, my desktop, or anywhere on my hard drive into an existing photoshop document. Unfortunately, the image does not drop into the existing document; it just bounces off. No new layer is created. When I try to import the photo manually from File-->Open, the image is opened in a new document instead of the existing one.
This only occurs for images saved on my hard drive. Any image pulled from a web browser and dragged/dropped into the document creates a layer. I'm running Snow Leopard.
I've installed the latest software updates to Snow Leopard and installed the latest CS4 patch, version 11.0.2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's because when you "drag" from the web browser, you are performing a copy-and-paste from one application to another one. The Finder is not involved. As I said earlier, "The Finder knows nothing about dragging Photoshop layers."
My original post was poorly written. Please ignore my digression on file-->open, which loads the image into a new layer in a new document, which it has always done and like you said, is normal behavior.
I was emphasizing that I can't find a way to directly insert a photo from the OS (Snow Leopard) running CS4 into an existing document in one step. The directory path of the file on the OS is meaningless in regard to this behavior.

I am running CS5 on Snow Leopard on another computer. Dragging and dropping a picture located anywhere on the OS into an existing document works flawlessly, and loads the image into a new layer within the open document.
You've lost the script by focusing on the finder. The file path of the image, whatever it is:
/Users/alex/Desktop/image.png
/Users/alex/Documents/image.png
/Users/alex/Pictures/image.png
should be meaningless.
Dragging and dropping an image from OS X to Photoshop is the rule and this failure the exception.
There is something I'm not doing or a misconfiguration causing this.

Dragging images from browser to a folder force-saves them as .bmp, how to fix?

So here's the thing: I'm using the latest Firefox. If I click an image and drag it from the browser page to a directory/file it saves the image as a .bmp, even if it were .jpg or .gif or whatnot.
Right-clicking and saving the images works fine.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, downgrading to a 25 (newest is 26) and this: https://support.mozilla.org/fi/questions/833095
Didn't fix.
Downgrading to 25 did fix a sign-in issue related to steam store page, it's back now that I upgraded back to 26, but that's not the main issue here.
I have AdBlock Plus and Nicofox as addons, but disabling them didn't help at all.
I noticed this problem after christmas, so roughly a week ago.

Suddenly I can't drag files from explorer into audition anymore.

Hi any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
I was having some trouble with my m-track ASIO interface drivers so I went through some steps to try and fix this, and made some changes to audition and windows 7. I made some changes listed here http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=349411
anyway, none of it helped my issue, and to make matters worse now I cant just drag files from explorer windows into audition (which would usually load them in the menu on the left and place them into multitrack editor)
I can still load files through the open menu but this is pretty inefficient way of doing it.
Now I tried to reverse the changes I made but I still cant drag and drop into audition.
does anybody know what might cause this and how to fix it?

Well, just finished my weekly podcast using Garageband and the "new and improved" iTunes. Here are the clunkers I've found:
1. Original problem of not being able to drag from iTunes to GarageBand. JamButty, I'll try out your workaround... for this show I literally had to drag all of the files I needed out of iTunes into a folder... Then why use iTunes at all?! Really stupid.
2. I noticed when I dragged the final show off of iTunes to a folder I use to upload to my S3 account, it now just has the black mp3 icon... not the image I use for the show. Granted, not a functional problem, but just stupid none the less why they would eliminate that.
3. Show notes in the metadata. Usually I'd copy my first paragraph of show notes (what goes on the web page) into Info > Comments in the metadata. And, if was too long, it would just chop off the end of it. This time I got a "bink" sound and nothing copied in. Tried it a couple of different ways with the same results until I figured out to just put half the copy in. Again, stupid, useless, time-consuming change.
I love Apple to death, but I hate what they do sometimes. The make a great product... then eventually screw it up with dumb changes (for example, the latest version of Final Cut)

Photoshop CS5 - drag images from web into photoshop issue

Has anyone had this happen or know a solution? Photoshop CS5 at work does this, but the one I bought for home doesn't... weird
When I drag an image from the web directly into Photoshop, the program almost freezes, I can select tools, but cant use them, I can get the handles to display with Free Transform, but then cant scale it. I have to actually close the file, then re-open it to continue working.

The exact same thing happens with my photoshop CS5! very irritating! My boyfriends photoshop CS5 works fine and does not have this problem either! HELP!

Dragging images from browser to desktop - don't appear where dropped

I am not sure it it's a browers' or system weirdness:
in my view options I have set my desktop to not align icons to grid.
when I drag an URL from browser to desktop it appears exactly where I've dropped it.
when trying to do the same with images (dragging from browser onto desktop) they jump/align with other icon/files I already have on my desktop.
this happens only since I've installed 10.6
I've tested with different browsers and realized this only happens with firefox and camino...(in safari it works as expected).

I have followed the instructions but have not been able to drag songs into any playlists at all. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi, I also have this problem, I find that I can't drag any songs anywhere, I want to change the playlists to random but at the moment they are all alphabetical, which is a pain. I am Blue not purple in itunes. I think I may have done something but don't know what, can anyone tell me how to "release" so I can move my songs around, I have looked on here for ages and can't fine an answer to this prob. many thanks, Chrisie

Can't Drag Clips From Browser! Have To Double-Click To Load Into Viewer.

For some reason my DV PAL clips in the Browser can't be dragged.
I have to double-click them to load them into the Viewer from where I can drag them anywhere.
What have I done . . . . . go on, I bet it's so simple I'll be kicking myself?
Incidentally I have swapped my silver keyboard for an old white one but FCP 6 is working fine.

Well I'll be hornswoggled . . . . . it was a preference job!
Come to think of it, I was fiddling with them earlier, but only changed the number of levels of "Undo" from 10 to 30.

Can't edit images from LR into PS

I reinstalled CS3 this morning. I reinstalled it, rebooted, and checked for any updates (which it didn't find any updates to load.) I opened LR to export an image into PS so I could edit it. The images wont open PS now. PS opens, but the image doesn't open in PS...LR gives me a WARNING and says "The file could not be edited because CS3 could not be launched". What do I need to do to be able to open images in PS from LR?

starting out with NEF files in LR (I have hundreds of catalogs with NEF files that opened fine...now the old catalogs wont open either)
I've ran every update for CS3 that I can find...I currently have version 4.6.0.30 of Camera Raw...is this the most current?
And no...even having PS before opening LR doesn't work.
Here's what's happening . I reinstalled CS3...I was having problems with the surface blur so I reinstalled CS3. Since the reinstall, I can't open NEF files via right clicking an image>edit in CS3. I can open a jpg or tiff file as a copy (not with LR adjustments..only as a copy in LR...) and not a camera raw files. Prior to the reinstall, LR worked fine opening images into PS.
Camera raw NEF files will not open in PS from LR If I open PS, NEF, tiff, and jpg files open just fine.
After a four hour help session with an Adobe tech from India, he said the problem is in PS and not LR. He had me completely uninstall LR and reinstall it....he said PS wont open the raw files.
I posted this info in the Adobe PS forum, and they said it was NOT a PS problem... the problem is in Lightroom's connection to Photoshop. (it's pointing to the wrong copy, or something similar)
Soooooooo...I've called the Adobe help line twice, spent 6 long hours on the phone stumping two different techs, and I have no solutions. I was given a case # and someone should call me in 7 days. Seven freaking days. I'm about to cry....I'll take back my initial problem of slow running actions and surface blur if I can get LR and PS to talk to each other!!!
So...any idea??? Any help would be appreciated.

Can't drag & drop from iPhoto into iMovie 10

Am trying to add some photos from my iPhoto library into an iMovie 10 project. I access the iPhoto library and the pictures show up, but when I try to drag/drop or add to the timeline, nothing happens. The little hand shows up over the photo, and even the + sign, but when I try to move or add it, nothing happens.
And, once I select one photo, it seems stuck until I deselect all.
Dragging of clips from the event library doesn't seem to be a problem.
Any advice or help is appreciated.

With a picture selected from the iPhot Library as it shows up in iMovie, if you select a photo by clicking on it once, then click the plus sign, what happens?

Is it possible to drag & drop images from Finder into a new Photoshop layer?
I can do it from a web browser, but not the Finder.

I really do suggest that you re-visit Bridge especially the CS4 version.
I just cannot conceive of trying to use a Digital camera, a Scanner or the Creative Suite programs without using Bridge and ACR.
I can even use it to read PDFs and inDesign documents (all pages!) without opening Acrobat or InD..

It is now far more effective and efficient to do that in Bridge than in the Finder.
This is where you would find the new Collections feature to be invaluable:
Just select all the images and other files connected to a project from any folder and drag their icons into the same Collection.
You then have all aliases (previewable at full-screen slide-view size with one click of the space bar in CS4) to ALL of your files which are now visible in. and openable from, a single panel.
