Can't Edit in Captivate

I have a brand new Technical Communication Suite installed,
but Captivate seems to malfunction. I can open the program and
apparently record stuff, but when the recording is stopped I should
be able to see thumbnails and tabs with functions for editing etc,
but they never appears. No thumbnails and no editing environment.
Only the initial screen for for recording. I have tried differenct
approaches - I have uninstalled/reinstalled - cleaned up harddisk
and removed old tmp files etc. I run XP and everything is
up-to-date. but the problems with Captivate persists. Can anybody
help?

Had a look at the link you put down and that is the first
screen you should see in Captivate. In the options available to you
on the screen you should then be able to select "Open" and browse
to a file that you have created which will then allow you to open
up the editing views for Captivate. If none of this works, then
there is probably an installation problem with the software.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3\Samples contains the
samples as supplied with the software, so you might want to try and
open one of those first to check your installation.

My specific issue was to open a CP6 project in CP8. Thanks for your comments and insight. I can see it may be a concern. But the good news is, I realized later that I still have CP6 on my desktop and will not need to struggle with the newer version.

How can our customer edit our Captivate 6 content with Captivate 5?

Our company has decided to dive into the e-learning business and create e-learnings. We just purchased a Captivate 6 subscription, unfortunately before finding out our customer uses Captivate 5. He would like to edit our files once in a while when he needs to if he doesn't have enough time to have us do it.   Is there anyway he can edit content produced in Captivate 6 with his Captivate 5. Can I export files of a certain type that he can in turn import and add to his Captivate 5 and edit himself? In other words, what kind of files can I export from Captivate 6 than he can import with Captivate 5 and make small changes to?

Thank you. I see that I can export content as an .xml file. Isn’t this something he can upload with Captivate 5?    Thanks for bearing with my naivety. : )

Can't edit objects on the stage

Hi,
I'm stumped helping my colleague on the issue below so I'm logging this question.
Issue: My colleague is trying to edit a slide but can't edit any of the objects on the stage. However, it works fine when I open the same project on my machine. Is there a setting on her machine that's causing the issue?
In the screenshot below, check out Slide 2 (selected) notice how:
in the thumbnail there are multiple objects (white image on the left, blue text caption in the center) on the slide.
in the timeline multiple objects are available and selectable. All are set to be visible (the little "eye" isn't switched to off).
when you look at the stage, the only things that we see are the background and a single button.
The objects also appear fine in Preview.
On the stage, can "phatomly" select objects, but she can't change the characteristics of them (e.g., change text in a text caption, resize object, move object).

Background info:
This project was initially created in an older Captivate version (4.0 or 5.0) and is now being edited/updated.
Last week, my colleague was trying to edit the same project (using v5.0). When she clicked play on the timeline, her audio wouldn't play. When she watched the Preview or tried to edit the audio, the audio would play just fine. Also, on my machine (running v5.5) it worked fine. This prompted me to suggest that she update to v5.5. Alas, it seems this fixed the audio issue, only to create this video issue.

Notice how the Text Caption is selected in the timeline and it's properties are visible on the right. Yet the item itself is nowhere to be seen on the stage. Also, now it seems to have disappeared from the thumbnail.

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
Do cleanup.

How can I edit an html file in Firefox using View Source?

I have created an html webpage and saved it to my pc. I can't edit the html file in firefox when I right click on the page and select "View Source". I can view the code but I can't edit it. I can do this in IE9.
I thought I was able to do this before in Firefox.
Did my settings change somewhere that I can no longer do this?
Do I have to have something checked in the Web Developer extensions for it to work?
I'm using Firefox 24.0

The View Source window in Firefox cannot be used to change computer codes. Nor can the Web Developer tools.

Not sure what you mean by "photo screen?" Do you mean your Photo Stream?
In the Photos app there are several ways to view the photos. Tap on Albums. Your Photo Stream is one Album but there may be others including the Camera Roll, albums made on the iPad with photos from the Camera Roll, and albums of photos copied to your iPhone by syncing with your computer.
To remove albums from the Camera Roll, tap on the Camera Roll album to see the small thumbnails of the photos there. Tap on Select, tap on the photos to delete, then tap on the trashcan. The photos will then be moved to another album called Recently Deleted. They remain there for 30 days to allow you time to reconsider whether you really want to delete them or not. After 30 days they will automatically be deleted from your iPhone. But if you are sure you want the photos deleted from your iPhone delete them again from the Recently Deleted album.
Albums created on the iPad with photos from the Camera Roll can be deleted in the same way.
To delete albums copied to your iPhone by syncing with your computer running iTunes are deleted by doing another sync. But before you click on Sync deselect the albums in iTunes. Then when you click on Apply or Sync the albums will be removed from your iPhone but they will remain on your computer.

Can't edit captions

I have a form that was created by printing an excel spreadsheet to PDF and then we are editing in Livecycle ES - the form fields have been added. However, we can't edit the captions for a radio button group and options like insert Text are grayed out in the menu. Is there just something weird about this because of the way it was created??

Sorry, I did misunderstand the issue. When you import a PDF (created from Word, Excel or any other application) you are presented with a dialog that gives you two options... "Create an Interactive Form with fixed pages" or "Create an Interactive Form with a flowable layout". If you select the "fixed pages" option, a form is created where all boilerplate is representated as an image and cannot be edited, furthermore, only "interactive" form objects can be added to the form, such as fields, radio buttons, list boxes etc. As you have noticed, the "non-interactive" objects such as "static text", and "rectangles"are disabled. In addition, the non-interactive properties such as captions (static text) are also diabled. LC Designer is bahaving as intended, it is meant to give the form designer a very accurate copy of the original document layout.
If you import a PDF and select the "Create an Interactive Form with a flowable layout", the "boilerplate" from the original PDF is editable, and the non-interactive form ojects and obect properties (captions etc.) will be available.

I just recently got a new laptop and transfered everything over and it seemed to be ok but now having issues playing videos and can't edit any of my song info in music files

I just got a new laptop so I had to transfer everything over and I thought everything would be ok but I'm having some strange issues especially with my purchased tv shows, movies, and music videos. They just wont play. Sometimes I'll get lucky and a tv show will play but if I stop it and try again it wont. If I open in Quicktime it works fine. The computer is authorized so that shouldnt be it especially if it plays in QT and like I said sometimes I'll get lucky and one will play. Now the other thing I just noticed is all my music files play fine but when opening and looking at the info of the music file I can't edit anything for example song title or artist the area seems shaded and won't let me do any editing. So I'm having those 2 issues. Video files not playing ones that I have purchased. movies, tv shows and music videos. Also like I said if I just sit there and click one after another I may get lucky and one will play but if I stop it and try again it will not play again. And I can't seem to edit any music file which play fine. I have a new Dell with windows 7 and I have never had this happen any help would be great. The computer is authorized for i tunes so it cant be that.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

I can't edit text on a pdf file in adobe acrobat

I need to edit the text on the pdf file but I can't and this message keeps showing up: " This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form.
There are no security on this file. The only thing that is not allowed is to create templates. When I check the document properties description, on the PDF producer it says adobe distiller 7.0.5 (windows)
I downloaded the adobe livecycle designer but I couldn't edit the text there either... When I open the file it says the text is not downloaded so it replaced it with another text, I clicked ok but then the text didn't change, This message showed up:

Ok, what we can tell you is that if this is a LiveCycle form (and we can be pretty sure it is), that you are absolutely right. Acrobat can fill it, and nothing else. These are a very special kind of PDF, where all the text is in a special XML format that Acrobat can only show, not edit.
So, you are on the right track: if it can be edited, you need LiveCycle Designer. Unfortunately, we don't know much about it in this forum, so please try posting here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_modules_and_development_tools/livecy cle_designer_es
If the form is publicly available, it may help if you include the URL (web address) when you post.

Can I Edit SD and HDV footage at the same time in CS4?

I have a Sony PD 150 camcorder and I'm looking at buying a Sony HDR-HC# HDV 1080i camcorder to use as a second camera on video shoots. Can I edit footage from both cameras on the same timeline in CS4? I'm using a PC, running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002 with an Intel (R) Pentium (R) 2.80 GB processor with 2.5 GB of RAM. I have a Windows XP 2005 with 3.4GHz with 4GB of ram and it cant handle HDV for HD video.
I have a Sony HVR Z1U and use the in camera down-rez and edit in SD just fine.
Like said before you really need a new computer to edit the HDV but if your going to DVD then your only using SD anyway.
But to answer you question you can mix formats with CS4.
