Can't export to SmugMug due to error message "attempt to index a nil value"
I am trying to export images to SmuMug. I am getting the message that LR can't update files; an internal error has occurred ?:0 attempt to index a nil value. I've tried several times with different folders. About half of the original files exported before the problem occurred. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Thanks.
Here is an update from my original post. I also wrote smugmug and they have never replied; however, I think this has been either a network connection problem or a smugmug bug. Since the first post, I have had AT&T check my modem and they gave me a new one. Even though they replaced it, they did not think I had connection problems and thought my download/upload speeds were at the correct level. I also erased my hard drive and reinstalled my operating system and restored from back up as there seemed to be other issues with my computer. The computer is apparently fine, but before it was all over I bought a new 27" imac. Smugmug has also taken their system down and installed some bug fixes a couple of times lately. In sum, all I know is that now the export to smugmug feature is working fine. To rcheek6: try resetting your modem and see if that corrects the problem. Also email smugmug and see if they'll answer.

Same problem here. I am trying to export files from RAW format to JPEG. I am setting the output size to 2000k. I get the error message:

The behavior is a bit random. If I export a large number of photos, some will work some won't. If I retry a picture that failed, it sometimes works or keeps failing. The input images are fairly similar in sizes.
In some cases, there is no error message but the new reduced-size image is not created.

An internal error has occurred: ?:0: attempt to index a nil value after installing LR5.5 update and trying to play or preview slideshow. Never had this problem before. I went to forums and see that this is a problem with previous versions and this only occurred after installing lastest update.

If you follow the advice of the previous poster Julie Kmoch and then gradualy add presets back in one at a time you might be able to find the one that is causing the issue. I may be guessing, but I believe the issue has something to do with either an incompatible Preset setting (eg a older preset in newer version of LR) or a corrupt Preset.
Say you bought LR2 and imported a bunch of Presets from the internet, cuz 'Hey these effects are cool and I don't have to recreate the wheel', and then you upgraded to LR3 (not a clean install) and now one of the Presets that calls a certain slider setting or value that is different in LR3 doesn't work anymore. This might be why it throws the error, but again I am just speculating.

LR Error "attempt to index a nil value"
As of this evening, Lightroom has stopped working. At various times including startup (2x) I get a message saying "?:0: attempt to index a nil value". Then when the program is loaded, it appears to have an empty catalog.
At first I thought the problem might be a corrupted catalog file. However, if I hold down ALT at launch and specify another catalog, or if I create a new one, I get the same results.
Within the program, I see the message again when I switch modules to DEVELOP, or SLIDESHOW but not when I switch to WEB or PRINT. Once I've moved away from the LIBRARY module, any attempt to move back to it results in the message and staying on the same module I was on.
I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. There is 2gb RAM on the system and 24gb free disk space on C.
I tried UNINSTALLING the program then re-installing with the 2.1 update, but that made no difference.
Something that may be related: I installed the MS .NET 3.5 framework in between the last time I used LR successfully and the first time I saw it fail. I don't know if there is a conflict there... everything else I've tried seems fine and I've got a BUNCH of software installed.Jeannine,

My computer can't start the AMD due to error message 1053.
This started after I tried to install the new update that came today. I uninstalled iTunes and when attempting to install it again, it failed. The icon is there but when I try to open it a message comes up saying that it can't find it.
I switched back to 11.1.1.0.1, loaded the backup of the app i made.
In this version of JDeveloper the application runs fine, however the similar error as above is displayed in the log and i think is more meaningful then above.

TS1424 Can't get itunes match due to error message
I recently purchased itunes match however, don't appear to be able to get past stage 1 before an error message appears. It reads-reporting error '4010' or '4002'. It has been going on for 2 days now. I am using iMac OS X version 10.7.4. Can anyone help please?
I just want to say "thank you" for your response to my issue. I have been trying to get my fax working since I realized there was an issue a few weeks ago. I searched for resolutions and tried several which didn't work. I did as you suggested and now have an upgraded E-Fax account in order to send faxes. I have not had the opportunity to send a fax yet but feel there shouldn't be an issue using their website. Again thank you for you help.

Can't install OS10.4 due to error message
I thought mrtotes had solved my last question and somewhat it did, but not all, so here is my additional problem and will give you the steps I took on my imac to get to this question,
1. Erased + added zeros, switched to install but no destination disk icon so….
2. Did a restart, on start up I got a screen gray /black/gray with flashing ? mark in small folder
3. Destination location for install unavailable (no icon)
4. Switched to disk utility

2. The volume needs to be repaired

instead of starting a new thread. Promise???
I finally received the Disk Warrior and started it up from the cd ran it and it froze up with the spinning beach ball, so I ran it again, it did the same and thought well now that I spent $65.00 on another utility that doesn’t work, I’ll give it one more try tomorrow and then go to the forum and see what anyone has to say about this problem. So today I tried it and let it run oh about 2 hours as it was not doing a thing (froze), so I pressed the power button to stop the process that was not working, started it up this time not from the cd and ran it again, it did not work.
I then started up my new 10.4 install software and for whatever reason it showed the HD (it had not shown this since my last forum question) icon so I clicked on it and erased it, I have everything backed up on this ibook I’m using and an external HD, and to my surprise it installed, which it didn’t before because it said the HD could not be repaired, so since I bought this DiskWarrior cd I ran it on the new installed 10.4 it said it found some errors and repaired them and built a new directory.
This is scary, I hope whatever DiskWarrior does it works.
I now have another question I want to know if anyone thinks it is safe to install my OS 9.2 on the HD so I can use my PhotoShop 6.0 or should I leave it off and just buy the next version of Photoshop that only operates on a OS10? I guess I’m just afraid that all my problems I’ve had with the computer has something to do with two operating systems on the same disk. Thanks for all your help. -
Can't fax using HP7510 due to error message "not connected to network".
I am having trouble with efax. It has worked in the past with no issues. Now I get a message that the printer is not connected to the nework even though it is. I can print wirelessly. The issue is with faxing. I have tried all suggestions I have seen on this forum...turning eprint on-off-on, changing DNS serverver addresses to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 respectively, Unplugging and plugging back in. Uninstalling and reinstalling printer. Nothing works. Any more suggestions? I am not tech savy, so simple answers are best. The only thing that has changed, is I added a HP6520 printer on my network.

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer? -
I can not take pictures or even back my phone up due to error message not enough storage I have went into manage storage and turned all my apps to off and I still get error. I also have deleted a ton of pictures and apps.

Ibeen having the same problem since the apple event. Wirelessly, the iPhone would see the update but not be able to download it. When I plugged it into iTunes, it saw the update and tried to download it but hung at "connecting to the update server...". I finally stumbled onto a solution that worked for me... changing the DNS on your iPhone's wireless connection. took less than a minute for mines to update!
Make sure that you are connected to your wi-fi network...
Tap on Settings
Tap on Wi-Fi
Tap on the little blue ball/arrow on network that you are connected to
On the DHCP tab, tap in the DNS field (write down what is in there and save it just in case)
Delete what is in there and add in 8.8.8.8 (this is Google Public DNS*)
Tap out of the field and out of Wi-Fi connections
Try to update from the phone again
I ended up making this change on my iPad, iPhone, Apple TV and iMac and it worked in all cases. -
I received the error (in iCal on my iMac): "The server responded with an error". The error message is very large, and if there is a way to acknowledge and close it I can't find it. Because this error message is open, I can't do anything in iCal. Any suggestions on how I could kill this error message? Thanks.
