Can't find a song

I have downloaded a song form iTunes and transferred it to my phone but it does not show up.  A search of my phone library using my PC show that it is there but it does not show up in any of my libraries on the phone.

Thank you everyone!  I think I've found the answer.  My phone is synced to my work account.  When I investigated the profile I saw that they have placed a restriction on explicit content, and it seems to apply not just to emails but to my own personal iTunes!!
A conversation with my IT colleagues for tomorrow...
Thank you again.

  • Why does iTunes/iPhone 4S insist it can't find a song on my PC or my phone when it is on both? This is resulting in me being unable to use the ringtones I created from these songs, but I can still play the songs.

OK, so I'm clearly a newb. I thought if I asked a question, it would post, and now I'm being told to post a comment, so I'm asking the same question again. Sorry I sound like an idiot. I'm new to this apple/mac stuff.
Why does iTunes/iPhone 4S insist it can't find a song on my PC or my phone when it is on both? This is resulting in me being unable to use the ringtones I created from these songs, but I can still play the songs.

If you have added the ringtone file correctly to iTunes, it will appear under iTunes 'Tones' library.
If you don't find Tones library in iTunes, go to iTunes menu EDIT/PRFERENCES under GENERAL tab, check the Tones Box under Library source to display Tones library in iTunes.
iTunes accepts only m4r file as ringtone and has to be less than 40secs.

  • I tunes can't find original song files of all my songs.  How do I fix this?

I tunes can't find original song files of all my songs.  How do I fix this?

Itunes stores ripped cds in the 'itunes' folder called 'itunes music' which under normal installation should reside into your 'My music' folder. Your music folders on the DVD then have to be copied into the 'Itunes music' folder for itunes to find it.
The tracks with the exclamation marks have registered with the incorrect location into the library. You can do two things:
Either search in the folder where you copied them from the DVD at the earlier step described above which means that you will have to do this for every single track, or the fastest way, delete all the incorrect entries and re-import by drag and drop into library the folders with the music you want to show in the library.

  • Updated iPod software, now it can't find 100 songs of my music.

It cannot fine the origional file for 100 songs? If I go into my music folder, itunes music, I can find all the songs. What happened!!??

This is a major Itunes Flaw!
This is not an issue that one of the volunteer experts can answer or solve. There needs to be a software change.
Why they have not found a fix for it I don't know.
If google can index and locate billions of pages, why in the world can't Apple make an itunes program that can locate songs after you have undocked.
With me my problem is that I have my songs on an external drive. When I plug it back in it shows that it is the same drive, but itunes can't find the songs. Even when I repoint it in the right external directory, I still have to go into the specific root directory for that song. If you have 4000 songs that could take forever.
    What is the Deal Apple!!!!

  • HT201272 I can't find my songs I just bought on my iPod touch..please help thank you

I can't find the songs I just bought on my iPod touch. Any help you can give me is appreciated.. Thank you

If they've finished downloading then they should be in the iPod's Music app - is that where you've looked for them ? If they don't show in there then have you tried closing the Music app via the iPod's taskbar and/or tried a soft-reset of your iPod to see if they then show up in Music ?

  • I can't find purchased songs in Music Library or in Recently Added.  The purchases are on my account.

I can't find purchased songs in Music Library or in Recently Added.  I have searched my library but they are not there.  Itunes says that all recently purchased items have been downloaded.  Where are the songs?

I don't know how, but this problem resolved itself for me.  If you don't see the downloads go to Documents, My Music, iTunes and then scrounge around to see if you can find a file with new downloads in there.  Then you can drag them to the iTunes icon.
Then try shutting down iTunes, and your computer and restart to see if this issue fixes itself.  I know, only a Mackie would think that a computer could fix itself.

  • I can't find a song I bought on itunes?

I bought a sobng on itunes, and when it showed up on my song list it had a picture of a cloud near it. Now, I can't find the song on my itunes list but I paid for it. Help?

Does it stil have the cloud symbol or not ?
If it has the cloud symbol next to it e.g.
If it has then that implies that it is only in the cloud and not downloaded into your library. If you click on it then it should download onto your computer.
(You can turn off whether items that are only in the cloud show on your iTunes library via Edit > Preferences, iTunes > Preferences if on a Mac - select the Store tab on that and there should be a 'show iTunes in the cloud purchases' tickbox.)
You can also redownload content via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage. If an item is shown there but doesn't have the cloud symbol then is it still listed in your iTunes library (i.e. where you would click on it to play it) ? If it is then iTunes will be seeing that and assuming that there is therefore no need to be able to redownload it - deleting it from your library should then give the cloud symbol against it in Purchased.
If it doesn't show in the Purchased link at all then is it still in your country's store ? If not then the record label has probably removed it, so you won't be able to redownload it. If it is still in the store but not in Purchased then check to see if it's hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919

  • HT4914 When I subscribed to iTunes Match I lost all my songs. I did a back up of my ITunes Library to iCloud but I can't find the songs! Can someone help me?

When I subscribed to iTunes Match I lost all my songs. I did a back up of my ITunes Library to iCloud but I can't find the songs! Can someone help me?

I guess the iTunes store is not recognizing your computer. Did you de-authorise your computer after you uploaded to iTunes Match. Did you register your new computer with a different User ID? Do you have Genius turned on (which needs to be on as it works in conjunction with iTunes Match. Did you authorise your new computer?
You paid for ITunes match & uploaded your songs using a different computer. So there are obviously one or more steps which need to be taken to download your media from the iCloud. Either someone else with more expertise than I can help you, for example, Limnos Limnos ; or King_Penguin King_Penguin or Chris_CA https://discussions.apple.com/people/Chris%20CA would probably be able to help you better than I.
    I don't work for Apple, I'm only a volunteer, if you can't get help from someone as mentioned above there's always Kappy (who is extremely busy) Kappy ;
then I would recommend going through the tried and true channel here > http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
Sorry I couldn't solve your problem myself. I'm about ready to retire from this game.
    Peace Out.

  • Can't find a song that I know is on iTunes

When I was in Europe, there was a song I heard called "Nine Million Bicycles in Beijing." I know it's on iTunes because I did a search on it when I was in Europe using my laptop. The only reason I didn't buy it was because everything was in Euros. And .99Euros is much more expensive than $.99 in the states. When I came back to the states and did a search for the song, it can't find it. Any ideas why?

SirSly, welcome to discussions! I've done several searches in the European stores including UK, France, & Germany, & can't find this song in any of these 3 stores. The most likely reason that it isn't available in the US store is that the copyright holders of the song have not negotiated a deal with the US store for distribution.
This scenario is usually why songs may be available in one country but not in others. Copyright holders can easily vary from country to country & deals have to be negotiated in every country for download distribution of music. Hope this helps!

  • Defrag my hard drive on my iMac now I tunes can't find my songs in the iTunes library

I defraged my hard drive now iTunes can't find the songs in the library. Not connected to the cloud yet. Any suggestions on getting iTunes to find the master copy of the songs so I can play them on my iMacs. I have the same songs on my I pad but I don't know of any way of transferring my music from my iPod to the iTunes library on my iMac. Any thoughts.

Same problem here. In my case I suspect due to having been cleaning out duplicate music files when hard disk was filling at an alarming rate (as I watched.) No longer doing that but my cleanup must have moved essential elements and files.
Anyone know how to get my purchased stuff, showing as purchased but with exclamation mark, back into itunes again?

  • Can't find my songs on my ipod

I can't find my songs on my ipod. However, when I connect my ipod to my computer the songs are listed. How do I find them on the ipod? Please help.

How are you putting the songs on your iPod? Are you loading them through iTunes?
If you're just using the iPod as a removable drive and dragging the songs to the iPod, they will be stored on the iPod but not accessible through the interface.

  • HT1725 Hello! I can't find one song in the Purchases in iTunes.

Hello! I like listen music on my iPad. At one, I found, that name of one song is written in grey color. I've delete it, and I thought that I could download it again, but I can't find this song in the Purchases in iTunes! When I look at this song at the store, it shows me that I haven't bought this song. How to solve that problem?

You are signed in with the same account that you bought the song with, you haven't changed countries since buying it, and it's the same song (e.g. you aren't looking at a differennt version of the song, different single, album, etc) ? Have you checked to see if it's hidden from the Purchased tab : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919 ?
If you've changed countries since buying it, or if the exact version of the song that you bought is no longer in your country's store, then you won't be able to redownload it. You've been keeping and maintaining a backup of all of yoru downloads via your computer's iTunes ? If you have then you can sync it back from your computer.

  • ITunes can not find orignal songs

iTunes is saying it can not find orignal songs. The ones it can not find are all the songs I put on there from my Cd collection. Having taking the time 3yrs ago to put them all on itunes I do not want to do that again. So itunes does not fully sync with my ipod. Also that means I can not create a play list with any of those songs.

Unfortunately you will either have to locate the files for those songs on your Hard Drive or re-import them to iTunes. There are however several steps you can take to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
    1. In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences
    2. Choose the Advanced tab in the Preference window
    3. Under General their will be a option to check "Copy file to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" select that
    4. Exit the window by pressing OK
Also you will want to consolidate your iTunes library to reduce future loss of other files currently in iTunes. By consolidating your files it will place a copy of all of them inside your iTunes folder on your Hard Drive. To consolidate your library use the following steps in iTunes.
    1. Advanced > "Consolidate Library..."
    2. A warning dialog will appear stating "Consolidating your library will copy all of your music into the iTunes music folder. This cannot be undone" Press "Consolidate"
iTunes will copy all your files to the iTunes Music folder. This will NOT copy any of the files that it cannot find though.

  • Itunes can not find original song file

Suddenly my itunes can not find the song's original file.
I see that the file is on the driver but when I double click on Itunes I get this mesage:
"the song could not be used because the original file could not be found.
    Any helpers out there?
    THKS

I've been experiencing this problem for a while now. It happens with version 7.1 but it started with an earlier version of iTunes 7. I never experienced it before iTunes 7. In my experience the number of files iTunes "thinks" is missing increases with the length of time iTunes has been running between restarts (I usually just put my system to sleep overnight so it can "run" for days on end). When it first started happening I used to go and find the "missing" music file(s) and reconnect it(them). Then, one day, I found a flood of "missing" songs. I decided I had nothing to lose by stopping iTunes and restarting it. When I restarted iTunes none of my songs were missing! This indicated to me that it's the iTunes code that's active after a restart that has a bug that makes it lose track of the music files.
To check, I looked in the Music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.xml file for songs while they were being reported as "missing", and, lo and behold, the song file locations are still there. iTunes must reread the xml file when it starts up and this cures the problem, at least in my case. (Too bad it doesn't use the file while it's running.)
I usually just play my entire library in random order. So, if a song or two disappears, I'm rarely aware of it. All I've been doing lately is stopping and starting iTunes when I feel like getting rid of the "!" scourge.
