Can't find any of my contacts

I have just restored my iphone 3GS and upgraded to ios 5.1 but all my contacts have gone missing. Every other thing is there including call history and messages (just the numbers, no names). I have snyched my phone numerous times but the contacts still wont come back. I synch my phone regularly and also backed it up just before the restore & update so dont understand why this has happened. someone please help! This is driving me mad!

You have to have your iTunes sync settings set to sync contacts on the Info tab, and you have to be syncing them to a supported application such as Outlook or mac Address Book.  If you didn't do this then your contacts are gone.  Your only chance to get them back is to try to recover your old backup using Windows System restore (restoring to an earlier restore point) or mac Time Machine and restore your phone from this backup.  Revert your computer to an earlier time period; if your old backup exists you will find it at one of the following locations:
Mac OS: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
Windows XP: %AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Windows Vista: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Windows 7: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
If you find your old backup, copy it to a flash drive then revert your system back to its current status (by undoing System Restore or ending Time Machine), then copy this backup file from the flash drive to it's original location.  Then save any recent pictures in your Camera Roll, disable automatic syncing in iTunes (Preferences>Devices>Prevent...from syncing automatically), connect your phone to iTunes and when it appears on the left sidebar, right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases (to save any new purchases), right-click again and select Restore from Backup.

    Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.

    I was confused myself because there IS a FaceTime App on the iPod touch. It seems ridiculous that Apple would be so inconsistent given that they are essentially the same iOS. I didn't use FaceTime on my iPhone for the longest time because I could not find "the App."

    It looks like the developer's of that app, or Apple, have got the wrong search name for it in the store - you could try contacting the developer and pointing it out to them so that they can get it corrected. Currently it looks like you can only find the app either by using the link (as you've included in your post), or by searching for the developer's name (Page Foundry Inc) in the store.
    For searching the store, when you search for something then the first result(s) should be those whose title matches what you searched for - so if you search for 'ebook reader' then as there is an app with that exact name it will be first in the results, other apps will then be listed after it.

  • How do you delete audiobooks downloaded from Overdrive from the library from my Ipod Nano when I can't find any of the titles under Music in iTunes?

    I've been uploading audiobooks from Overdrive and now that I'm done listening to them I want to delete them. After I hook my Ipod 7th gen up to the comp, it pulls up iTunes and I go to Music but I can't find any of the book titles there. They all show up in my songs group on my iPod. I've been manually managing the songs so I don't get all my husbands stuff on there. I've cruised through the other sections and tried searching the library without any luck. Any advice???

    Thank you for the help.  Every app on my phone was downloaded using my old I-tunes ID.  I just hope that they will re-download under my new ID because I still can't change it on my phone.  In order to change to the new ID it says I have to sign out from the old ID and change to the new one.  My problem is that I don't remember my password to be able to sign out from my old ID.  Then the phone says it can change my password through e-mail and I  agree but I never get an e-mail at my old address or the new one.

    Hopefully you moved the entire iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder to a new path on your external drive. Copy your iTunes library folder out to the root of the external drive, e.g. X:\iTunes (where X: is your external drive), then move the media folder inside it. Hold down shift as you start iTUnes and keep holding untila asked to choose or create a library. Choose the library at X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. Should all be good.
    Failing that, download and run my FindTracks script and point it at the new location of your media folder.

    Since it seems App related, I'm not sure what to offer you.  I guess the only suggestion I have is for you to reboot your iPad and then try again.  To reboot, hold the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (keep holding past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  You won't lose any settings or data, so it's worth a shot.
