Can't find the last three weeks of back-ups on my Time Machine -- HELP!
Today I purchased a new 17" macbook pro to replace one that crashed over the weekend. I did a complete restore from time machine. When it was done, I realized it only restored files from 3.8.2010. It's 3.29.2010. How can I find the last 21 days? I know that time machine backs up regularly, everyday. Just can't seem to find the last 21 days. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Just how did you do the restore?
If you did a complete restore from backups, you should have seen a list of backups, and selected the most recent one.
If you used either +Setup Assistant+ or +Migration Assistant,+ it would have used the last completed backup.
Have you checked via the "Star Wars" display, to see what the dates of your backups were? (Since you're now on a different Mac, you may have to manually mount the sparse bundle and use the +*Browse . . .+* option in #17 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from the music section of your iTunes library, close & then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked. This seems to help with partial downloads...
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

I can't find the deactivate button. I know you need to go to Help > deactivate. But where is this help? On Adobe or on my computer?
Open whatever application you wish to deactivate and from the top toolbar choose Help -> Deactivate. If this is for a Creative Suite then just open any one of the applications that are in it and deactivate thru that - it will deactivate the entire suite.

How can I see the old backups of my previous Macbook done by Time machine in a Time capsule with my new iMac? I've changed from a Macbook to a iMac because that one stopped working and I cannot use it anymore. I've been able to import all the data of the last backup of the Macbook when setting the new iMac, but I cannot access now to the old backups of the Macbook and there are information that wasn't in the last backup and I would like to recover. My iMac suddenly can't read the backup hard drive I've been using for Time Machine. I tried unplugging the cord that connects the HD to the iMac and plugging it back in, but I still get "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" below which are buttons for Initialize, Ignore and Eject. I was using a cord that went from larger square plug to larger square plug. So then I tried one that went from smaller square plug to what I think is USB (thin rectangular plug) of the sort that connects the keyboard and mouse. It's the type that my printers and scanners use to connect to the iMac. I did NOT just upgrade the OS or anything. The external HD is an OWC Mercury Elite All Pro. It's worked fine since I got the iMac 4 years ago. What else can I try before just trying to initialize and
Thanks, Michael! I do hear it at times spooling up and running. Just after I bumped the thread I looked for troubleshooting for this drive online and found the manual which suggested using Disk Utility which I've seen before accidentally (if I hit Command Shift U instead of Shift U to type "Unit" on a new folder for a student's homework ) but had never really noticed. Disk Utility does see it and also a sub-something (directory?) which might be the Time Machine archives on the disk, called disk1s2), sort of the way that my iMac's hard drive shows up as 640.14 GB Nitachi HDT7... and has a sub-something titled DB iMac, which is what I named my iMac's hard drive.
Anyway the owner's manual just shows the image under the formatting section, not the troubleshooting section, but as soon as I saw it in the manual I remembered seeing it accidentally a few times, went to it, and am now verifying the disk. Right now it's telling me that it will take 2 hours to complete the verification, so I guess I have a bigt of a wait. :-)
Does that fact that Disk Utilities can see it mean it's not failed, or just that it hasn't completely failed?
I can see the virtue in having multiple redundant backups, or at least two backups. What do you suggest? Two external hard drives? I had this one linked by ethernet, and but I also have a cord that could link it by USB (like a printer), so if this one is reparable I could get a second one and link it by USB. If this one is not reparable I could get two and do the same thing. I do have an Airport so I suppose it's possible to get some sort of Wi-Fi hard drive (my new printer/scanner uses only the network and not a cable, although it has a cable that I used for the initial installation), but I'd suspect a Wi-Fi hard drive might have a higher price.
What hard drives, if any, do you recommend? I seem to recall that when I was looking at external hard drives 4 years ago, Apple's were substantially more expensive, which is why I got the OWC Mercury Elite All Pro. -
You can't open the application "QuickBooks Application" because it is in a Time Machine backup.
How I can restore QuickBooks aplication and back-up data from my time machine.

When you use the Lion restore as described, it does a fresh install on the hard drive that you can select at the beginning of the process. This provides a complete install of the very latest version of Lion, including the recovery partition. The drive that you choose for the installation destination winds up like what you would have on a brand new computer from Apple.

How can I find the last day of the current month
Is it possible to get the last day of the month in reports. Suppose I enter JUL in one of the text field. Now in reports I want to show that JUL contains 31 days. How can I retrieve the last day of the month.
Any ideas?The first (and fast) solution I think is this:
There is a function MONTH(CURRENT_DATE) that returns the number of the month of the current date.
Now, you could use CASE WHEN expressions to determine the number of days returned since you now how many days does every month have.
For instance, you could do:
CASE
WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)=1 THEN 31
WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)=2 THEN 28
WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)=3 THEN 31
WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)=4 THEN 30
END
PD. This is faster that use OR expressions like 1 or 3 or 5 because you dont have to try every option.
Hope it helps...but maybe there is another way more automatic.

We have just purchased Apple TV and can't connect to Home Sharing. We have wifi, the iPad is updated. I can't find the link on ITunes on the iPad that the tv is telling me to click. I've also tried turning it on via settings then music which seems to be connected. I can view YouTube clicks on the tv, but not an app so I can watch the footy. What am I doing wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
ThanksMake sure your Apple TV is on the same network as your iPad. The SSID and password of router must be set in your Apple TV.

I have an imac 20-inch Late 2006 model on OSX 10.7.4 running iphoto 11, somehow the application ccleaner has deleted my photos from my iphoto library. I have time machine but the iphoto library file is missing when I access time machine.
To restore photos I have followed the steps below
Quit iPhoto.
Connect your Time Machine drive.
In the Finder, open the folder containing your iPhoto Library. Unless you've moved your iPhoto Library, it can be found in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library.
Enter Time Machine. (Time Machine can be found in the Dock or in the /Applications folder.)
Choose your desired backup. The timeline on the right side of the screen displays a purple tick mark for each of the backups stored on your Time Machine drive.
Select the iPhoto library you would like to restore, and click the Restore button.
I dont get the option in step 6 as I dont have an iphoto library file to choose? Does anyone know why?Hi Barry
Thanks but as mentioned all is intact, even at step 3 I can see the current library in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library which has no photos, but when I access time machine any point before the NOW option the iphoto library in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library is missing from the finder window.

and now its gone. I have no explanantion.
How do I go about moving this question as you suggested. -
Can I with no worries delete my old back-up and use Time Machine?
Before upgrading my MacBook to Leopard I took a back-up, just to be sure. I'm thinking of making a clean install of Leopard though, just to be certain to get the best out of it. The thing is that I want to try out Time Machine, but I don't have the space of on my external HD to make a partition for Time Machine and keep my old back up. So is Time Machine reliable? Would it be safe for me to back up my system using Time Machine, do a clean install, and then get my files back to my Mac through Time Machine and my external HD?
ThanksIt's your call.
The first thing that Time Machine is going to do will be to make a full backup of your machine anyway, so from the standpoint of whether you'll need the old backup, that is unlikely from a purely "got a copy of the data" standpoint.
However, if you ever want to roll back to Leopard, for example if you had a Tiger-only application or other issues that prevented you running Leopard, having that original backup would be invaluable, and not possible to do from Time Machine only.
To hedge your bets, a second drive might be in order. It doesn't need to be a large one - just enough for your current data since you can backup your existing machine on it, leaving your existing drive (assuming it's larger) for TM.
Of course, you could also not turn on Time Machine until you're ready, leaving you with your existing backup intact, and throwing that away when you turn on TM. That way you don't need an extra drive, you just miss out on TM in the short term. -

With Oracle you'd need to create column which gets updated in a trigger. I believe MS SQL Server offers a special data type for this, which is updated automatically. I don't know about others.
