Can't get folders to stay in column view... pulling hair out!!!

It doesn't matter what finder view options I set, they work for 1 or 2 times opening a finder window in column view, then goes back to the icon view. I hate icon view!!! What is the ridiculous deal with this and how can something so chump-change, penny-ante as keeping a simple folder view preference be so ridiculous as to migrate from one version of OSX to the next!?!?? At least there was an app in 10.4 that was in Utilities that you could log in as root, reset the windows the way you wanted and then log back out. Ridiculous that you had to do that kludge, but it worked... but I can't find that application anymore in Leopard... arghhh! Wow, I feel a bit better to have vented Can anyone help me fix this so I can always have Column view as the default... and possible save my sanity in the process?

Mac OS X: How to Save a Finder View (Column, Icon, or List) for a Specific Folder or Disk
It appears the Finder only keeps the desired setting if set on a newly opened window. If the folder was navigated to within the window and the setting is changed, that setting is temporary. So you need to (temporarily) set the Finder to open folders in a new window (Finder Preferences) so any window you navigate to is a new window, a "starting point". Then you can actually save that folder's setting. Note you can leave the "Show View Options" window open as you change between windows and it relates to the active window. Once all your desired folders are set, you can uncheck to open folders in new windows.
I usually navigate in column view and of course clicking through folders in column view is not the same as opening a new window so I had to create aliases of some folders to test with but this worked for me.
(hmm, further testing, they seem to keep for me even when set by navigating to it within a window.... but this might be worth a try)

Let's move on to removing and restoring preferences, in more complete fashion that can be done from within Mail. Quit Mail, and use the Finder to open Home/Library and locate the Mail folder -- duplicate the Mail folder and drag the copy to the Desk top for temporary backup. Locate the Preferences folder (Home/Library/Preferences) and find the com.apple.mail.com -- drag it to the Desktop. Try to launch Mail, and when it opens, re-enter your mail accounts information, but DECLINE to import anything. Mail should re-discover your account folders, and all other messages. Now set the default mail client to Mail.

In general you launch Time machine and go back in time to the time you want - select the iPhoto library (by default in your pictures folder) and click restore

Well, for more clearly! My problem is I must have the Unit Cost of Items, so I've got it in the cm_cmpt_dtl (table), but if I want to, I must create a relation that require 2 filed, they're Item_ID and Whse_Code.
There's no problem with Item_ID, but Whse_Code seem to be the Mission Impossible (hix, I hate that film!!!!)

Because the batch_no can be duplicated as we also create Batch and Filrm Planned Order.

I continue to have the problem, so the only solution that I could think of was to delete the Eudora ap. Since all the Eudora mailboxes are text files (including the address book), I will open them as text files when I need to access some info.

I couldn't figure it out, so I just deleted the Eudora application from my hard disk. Then I used a great program called Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to transfer my Eudora mailboxes to Apple Mail. It's working out well.

Thanks for the flag J.K. - they contaced me and solved my problem. On this account (which I created just to ask this question), I log in with my email rather than my user name (mtalldud). On the account that I was having trouble with, they told me to use my user ID instead of my email to log in and it worked. This is a bit confusing and seems a bit inconsistent but at least I don't need this temporary account any more to get into this community and find answers!

In the Slide Inspector, in the Transition tab, use the Start Transition dropdown menu to select "Automatically". The transition will then start after the last animation on the slide.

It sounds like you would like to send a text from your phone number on your portable computer. You can do this by setting iMessage to start new conversations from your phone number in the Messages settings:

I can't get the Sum of a Column

I was hoping someone would be able to help me figure out what I'm doing wrong on a form that I'm unable to get a SUM of a column for? I'm new to LiveCycle Designer and have poured over all that I can find on the internet to figure this out but it's been 10+ hours and I'm no closer now then when I started. Specifically, I added a table to a form that has a multiplication formula set up in each of the ROWs (item * cost = total kind of scenario). These formula's work and give me the the $ amount in the last column titled "total." The problem is I can't figure out how to get a sum of the totals for the "grandtotal" cell at the bottom? Each formula I've tried gives me a warning that "total[*] is unknown" so it makes me think I have my cell menu's set up incorrectly since it's not registering it the $ amount in my "total" cells? This is work project and I'm at a stopping point until I can figure this out so any help is gratefully appreciated. Donna

My table is: table 3
My row is: cell1 (all are called cell1)
My column is total1 (I've changed these to total 1, total2, total3, etc in my efforts to troubleshoot)
FormCalc entries that I've tried:
Sum(total[*])
Sum(total[*]).amount[*])
$ = Sum(total1.amount + total1.amount + total3.amount)
Sum(table3.cell[*].total[*])

It appears you've phyically created 3 indivdual rows (correct me if I'm mistaken), so if that's the case...you can simply capature the GrandTotal by adding the fields using by their respective names. Thus, the GrandTotal script would be: $ = Sum(total1+toal2+total3). Im not sure why you're using ".amount".
[*] is used when you have repeating subforms. So, say you started out with a single row (Row1) with the following fields: Qty, UnitCost, Total... where Total (field in last column) had the follwoing script: $ = Qty * UnitCost
If your form was "dynamic" and used an Add Row button, then you would only have to create one row and enable your user to "Add" additional rows, as needed. As a result, you would need to use an array [*] to find all instances of Total on each row.
In that case, your script for GrandTotal would look like this: $ = Sum(Page1.Items.Row1[*].Total). Note: Page1.Items is the absoulte location for Row1 on my form, so this would change for you.
Going back to my previous comment, since your form doesn't appear to use an Add row button, you shoudl be able to add the fields names quite easily.
Lastly, as an FYI, you shouldn't need a [*] after total in......Sum(table3.cell[*].total[*])

Can't get keynote to stay connected to icloud

After updating my ipad 3 to ios 7, I can't get Keynote or Numbers to connect to iCloud. Pages works just fine. I move the slider to use Icloud but it wont stick. Any suggestions.

It's about what happened to iPod connectivity after a MacBook was upgraded to 10.6 due to a new iPad.
Solved. Had to do a reformat-install of 10.6, then a complete wipe-reset on the iPod from another computer. What a pain!
