Can't get my printer to work

Hi, I have just bought an apple iMac and I can't get my printer to work. It is a Sansung ML laser 4500. I tried to download a driver on thee Samsung website but can't get a driver. Please advise how I can get this printer to work as I don't want to buy another printer.
Please help.

Samsung does not have an OS X driver for their 4500 series printers. You can check in Print & Fax to see if a driver is provided in OS X, but if Samsung doesn't make a driver for OS X then it's unlikely you will find one that works. Of course you can try the Generic driver, but no guarantee it will work. If it does only some printer functions will be supported, if any.

For Airprint to work your iPhone and printer must be on the same local network. Your printer must support Airprint (see here for list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356).

I am afraid if you can't print with any applications in Mac OS this is not a problem specific to Firefox and we can't be of much help.

I can't get this script to work with the XML stype jsp tags. It keeps telling me the <jsp> tags are untermintaed. Is there a special trick to fix this or do I have to use the non-XML type tags?

I can't get my printer to print through my Airport Express and Bonjour and it is now starting to get really frustrating. Here's my set-up.
- Linksys wireless router as base station
- AX joined to Linksys network - green light is solid on the AX
- Have my Xerox 7750 printer connected to AX via USB
- Using iBook G4
- Removed all other printers, re-started and then added the 7750
The problem is, it appears as though the Xerox is connected properly but when I try to test print a page, the print dialogue opens in the dock but a red exclamation sign appears next to it. It says the print job has been stopped. So, I click start job and the bar goes stripes for a few seconds and then goes back to stop jobs and the red exclamation mark appears next to the printer in the dock.
So I'm at a loss as to how to fix this. I've use the printer set-up utility, I've re-started the computer, I've re-started the printer, it's properly connected to AX and the AX green light is on.
Can anyone help me with this?

try putting the AX in client mode. If your linksys is your main wireless/LAN connection out and your AX is set to extend the existing network, your printing and airtunes may not operate properly.

Can't get 4050n printer to work with new Desktop Computer: running XP

I have a new Desktop Computer, dual processor, which is running XP and MS office 2007. I had my 4050N HP Laserwriter hooked up to my old desktop (which failed in the last two weeks, blown capacitor, etc) and it worked fine with XP on that computer.
So I downloaded the drivers I found for HP 4050N running XP, and can't even get a test page. The connectors seem to be ok. I had to buy a parallel port to USB cable and I have that plugged into the USB port at the back of my new desktop.
Any ideas of what else I should try? If I had a computer virus with the old machine, could it have affected my printer somehow?
I'm at a loss.

Since you mention doing an upgrade I would be inclined to reset the printing system and then add the R2880 queue again.
Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
Move your mouse over the Printers list
Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
Restart your Mac
This will remove your print queues but not your printer drivers. So you will only need to add your printer queues again.

Can't get my printer to work with Airport Express

I got a new MacBook today, everything is up and running, so is my Airport express with my DSL line, but my printer is not responding to the connection. I plugged in the USB port from the printer to the Airport and the printer and it doesn't work. I restarted things, went to troubleshooting... nothing helped. It's not the printer because if I plug in the printer USB port directly to my MacBook it works. Anyone have any advice? Thank you!

The directiions on your site are for the Printer Setup Utility that was part of OS X 10.3 Panther. There is no optoin for "IP Printing" in the Tiger Printer Setup Utility, so I don't get how everyone was able to follow the intructions successfully. I sure can't. Is it enough to just add the printer normally using the default browser (as a Bonjour printer) and selecting the aformentioned GIMP driver manually? If not, I need help getting instructions that pertain to Tiger IP Printing. Thanks.

Newbie Mac owner can't get HP printer to work

Hi all,
I have searched in the forum, but can't find anything that really suits my needs. I have an HP psc 750 that only seems to print when the HP printer CD is in the drive. It won't print all the time even then. I install it and it says "installation complete" , I take out the CD, then when I look in Apps, it shows the HP 750 as the default printer. However, when I try to print something, it gets stuck saying it's "connecting" and "Waiting for device". I have tried turning off the printer, then back on. I have tried reinstalling the printer... Nothing seems to work.
And, stupid question, I know, but what is Leopard, and do I need it? Real Mac newbie here, I tell you! TIA!!

Take a look if your printer is indeed using the drivers by going at he print & fax tab on system preferences, or you can try and download a newer version from the HP site.
Leopard is the operating system of your apple. 10.5.4 is the version you are using but Leopard is its name. Tiger for instance was the previous version at 10.4.*

Can't get Wireless Printer to work on Leopard

My wife bought an HP C4580 Wireless Printer the other day and within minutes I got it working on all the computers, Windows and Mac, in the house BUT, I have now installed Leopard on my MacBook Pro and then installed the Drivers for the Printer and now the Printer won't work, I get an Client Auth Error or something when I try to use it, any ideas?

There is a driver update, and, more importantly, a firmware update for this MFD at the HP site. <http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang =en&product=3418707>. I'd download and install the drivers and download and set up the firmware update and see if the problem goes away.

Can't get duplex printing to work

I have a HP Color LaserJet 4650 which is a duplex unit. Before 10.5 I would print regularly selecting in the Layout "Two-Sided" and it would work fine. Now, in 10.5 it seems that no matter what I try it will not print on both sides... help? or is this some bug that needs to be sorted out?

This is still broken in 10.5.1. I found a trick that works for my printer... using the CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) configuration system as a workaround.
Go to http://localhost:631/ in your web browser.
Then click "manage printer".
Click "set printer options" on the printer with problems.
Scroll down to "duplex" under finishing and change the option here to "Long edge".
Duplex print, although you lose the option to single print it seems without going through this process.

I upgraded to snow leopard 10.6.3 so I could use the new Touch 4th generation. Everything was great until I tried to use my epson R2880! I keep getting
errors. It also says the printer is not registered. I have downloaded software updates, font updates, etc. no luck? Any ideas? thanks

I can not get my printer to work with my new macbook pro. Help?

I have a printer from Dell that my macbook has recognized and it act as though it is printing but nothing is happening. The computer acts like it sends the doc to the printer but my printer is not doing anything. Any suggestions?

Check the Dell website for compatible printer drivers you can download and install.
Once the drivers are installed, open System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
Then click + to add the printer.
